If Juana Marroquin would be in a music video right about now, it would be Hot and Cold by Katy Perry.
Why?
Well, she was currently in her crystal white, long sleeved and ankle length wedding dress running as fast as she could away from the church that she had been supposed to be getting married in.
Her heels were uncomfortable upon her feet, her mascara was definitely smudged all the way down her cheeks and her hair was definitely out of place from having the wind in her hair, and yet she didn't care.
All she could care about was getting away from her venue and getting to the nearest bar so that she could drown her sorrows with alcohol until she couldn't feel anything anymore. That was how she wanted to spend the rest of her day and most likely the rest of her life.
Her entire family had been there, both of her parents, her two younger brothers, her grandparents from both sides of the family, thirteen aunts and uncles and sixty two cousins including their children.
Her friends had been there too, thirty of her friends and best friends, five of which had been her bridesmaids and a maid of honor.
And yet, she wasn't married.
She had known as soon as she saw her fiancé's best man walking up the aisle that something wasn't right and she had heard him tell the priest that her partner was going to be coming to marry her, instead he had been spending what would have been his wedding day sleeping with a woman who was supposed to be her sixth bridesmaid.
Her best friend.
It had been going on for seven years, all seven of those years they had been together, since they were going to be married after eight years of dating, and yet, it had all been just one big lie.
It all made sense now.
Why her best friend had become pregnant and the child was always being looked after by Juana and her partner, because he had been the father.
Why he was always doing extra shifts at work, sometimes late ones or night shifts where he would be away from her working hard, instead just sleeping in somebody else's bed.
Why he never had any spare money and why most of her wage packet had gone towards the bills and the groceries, since he had been spending all of his money on his bit on the side.
God, she was so stupid.
Some cars were beeping their horns at her as she ran away, some men cat calling her which she would usually call them out for, but today, she was not in the mood. She just wanted to drown her sorrows.
Her eyes fell upon the nearest bar that was closing in as she kept on running, until eventually her feet arrived at the door, pushing it open and entering only for all eyes within the bar to immediately fall on her and her appearance.
It wasn't every day that somebody walked in to a bar with a wedding dress on looking a mess and being alone.
"Where's the lucky man?"
The barman asked with a large friendly smile upon his lips, his dark hair neatly styled back, his blue eyes sparkling.
"I don't know, probably fucking my bridesmaid."
A loud gasp sounded throughout the bar, since she had apparently spoken just a little bit too loud so that everybody had been able to hear her, the large happy smiles now sad and full of sympathy.
"What can I get you?" The barman questioned with a now sad look upon his face.
"Whiskey."
Juana Marroquin muttered, her fists clenched in anger, hurt and betrayal, her eyes burning with tears that were Kit just tears of sadness but tears of anger and hate.
Why couldn't he have told her before the wedding? Why did he let her go through with the wedding if he knew that he would not go through with it? Was he trying to humiliate her? Was he trying to make her suffer because he thought that her best friend was better than her?
Did he ever love her?
The synchronised sound of three glasses hitting the bar counter beside her made her lift her head upwards, seeing three men watching her with unreadable expressions on their faces.
As the glass of whiskey was placed down in front of her, Juana was about to pay, until one of the men reached forward to hand the barman a couple of bank notes, paying for the drink that she proceeded to throw down her throat in seconds.
"Another glass of whiskey for the lucky woman, please."
"Lucky? How am I the lucky woman?"
The Marroquin girl being spat in venom, seeing the man who had paid for her drink glancing down at her, his dark brown hair out of his face, a frown now evident on his face as his eyebrows furrowed together.
"You are lucky, because you did not marry him."
The man spoke with a strange accent hitting her ears, his lips twitching up as he tried to give her a reassuring smile, though that failed as she only kept glaring.
"Am I lucky that I was humiliated in front of over a hundred of my closest friends and family? Is that lucky?" Juana knocked back yet another whiskey in only a matter of seconds, and yet the barman did not seem to be affected, only refilling it time and time again.
"No, but now they know what a shitty person that guy is. You are lucky that you did not marry him, it would have been a lot more pain, a lot more money and a messy divorce."
"He's right, you know."
Another man spoke, a friendly smile on his face, his hair black and tied back in to small braids, his skin black and glowing radiantly.
"It is his loss. He's going to realise soon that the bridesmaid is nothing on the beautiful woman that he abandoned."
"He is clearly an idiot."
Another man, a blonde haired man with a slight moustache spoke, his accent also slightly strange though he held a friendly smile on his lips, his hand outstretched towards her as if for a handshake.
"I'm Valtteri."
"I'm Lewis." The black man with radiant glowing skin greeted with a bright smile and perfect teeth.
"I am Toto."
The other man finally spoke up again, the one who had paid for her drinks, the one with the funny accent and dark hair. He was also a very tall man, towering over the other two and Juana's five foot four stature.
"Juana."
She introduced herself with small handshakes with the trio, all of whom were very gentle when shaking her hand as if afraid that she was going to snap and break her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Juana. Come and take a seat, we want to hear all about your shit ex and how much you want to punch him in the face."
"Well, you could be here for a while."
"We don't mind."
