CHAPTER THREE
Elisa stares at her hands that were stretched out in front of her. She focuses on her magic, her eyebrows furrowed. She had been practicing using her magic for the past few days, but it was still a struggle for her. She wasn't sure if it was because she didn't have full control over her powers or if it was because her body was still trying to adjust to having magic again. It was always odd when she came back to Auradon from the Isle. Since magic wasn't allowed on the Isle, her body had grown accustomed to not having it. And then when she came back to Auradon where magic was present, it took a few days for her body to readjust.
She took a deep breath and tried to relax. She slowly exhaled, closing her eyes. Her fingers tingled, a faint glow coming from her hands. She opened her eyes and saw that her hands were glowing. She grinned, feeling a sense of pride. Blue wisps almost looking like frost or snowflakes came from her hands and swirled around her. She smiled widely, creating snowflakes in her hands. She loved this part. It was amazing. She made a small ball of snow, grinning to herself. She threw it up into the air and it exploded like a firework. Snowflakes rained down from the sky, falling onto her skin and melting. She giggled, looking up at the sky and grinning. This was amazing.
"You're adorable." Ben chuckled, his eyes sparkling as he watched her. He was standing a few feet away from her, a fond expression on his face. He had gone to check on her since he hadn't found her that day since the morning and was worried about her. He found her at their spot in the clearing, practicing her powers. He was so proud of her for practicing her powers more. She was making such progress. He could tell how happy she was and it made his heart swell with happiness.
Elisa turns her head, her cheeks flushing when she sees him. She hadn't realized he was there, too lost in her own little world. "Oh, hi." She smiles shyly, biting her lip. "How long have you been there?"
"Long enough." Ben grins, stepping forward and stopping in front of her. He smiles fondly at her, his gaze soft. "You're really cute when you're lost in your magic like that," Ben finished with a warm chuckle, his voice filled with affection. He reached out, gently brushing a snowflake off her hair, watching as it melted into his fingertips. "I love seeing you this happy."
Elisa's face flushed deeper, the warmth of his words spreading through her like a gentle summer breeze. She ducked her head, her hands still tingling with the remnants of magic. "Oh, shut up." She mumbled.
"What? It's true." He chuckles, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. He surprises her by picking her up and spinning her around, their laughter mingling with the soft sound of the falling snowflakes. Elisa squealed in delight, her heart racing as he twirled her, the world around them becoming a blur of winter magic and warmth. "And actually, you're cute all time. And beautiful. Stunning. Gorgeous. Breathtaking-"
"Stop." She giggles, placing a finger over his lips when he sat her back down on her feet. "You're rambling, my King." She teased, her eyes twinkling.
His heart flutters, his cheeks flushed. He was such a sucker for her calling him that. She always managed to make him blush. He smiles shyly and kisses the pad of her finger before removing it from his lips to kiss her palm. "Sorry, I can't help it." He murmurs, his voice soft yet filled with affection. He pulled her closer, their foreheads touching as he gazed into her eyes. "You're my queen, and I'm going to keep telling you just how amazing you are, even if you try to stop me." He breathed out, staring at her with awe as his hand intertwined with her bare one, making her heart flutter.
Butterflies are going wild in her stomach. She blushes, feeling shy under his gaze. She can't help but bite her lip as she stares at him. His gaze is intense, full of so much love and adoration. She felt like she could melt into a puddle right then and there. "I, um, I'm technically not a queen yet," She stammers, her cheeks burning with a deeper blush as Ben's words and affectionate gaze made her heart race. "But you sure know how to make a girl feel like one." She added with a soft smile, her shyness melting into warmth.
Ben chuckles softly, his thumb gently brushing over her hand. "You're my queen no matter what." He declared, his eyes shining with unwavering adoration.
The snowflakes hanging in the air starts to fall like normal instead of being suspended in the air. Elisa blushes as the snowflakes start to stick to their hair and skin. She couldn't help it. Her powers were usually affected by her emotions. She could never control them whenever she was feeling a strong emotion. She felt a rush of warmth and joy from Ben's sweet words, and it caused her magic to spiral into a flurry of activity. The snowflakes danced around them, swirling in a gentle breeze, each one glimmering in the light like tiny stars.
"See what you do to me?" Elisa laughs, her voice light and melodic to Ben, as she swiped at a few snowflakes that landed on her nose. "I can't even control my magic when I'm around you!" She shook her head with a light laugh, a blush still lingering on her cheeks. The snowflakes started to float around them, swirling in a light mist. Elisa's eyes glowed blue, her hands still tingling. Ben looked at her with an adoring look, a slight flush on his cheeks. Elisa couldn't help but giggle at the sight of his flushed cheeks and his hair that had bits of snowflakes sticking to it.
He smiles fondly, shaking his head fondly as he looked down at the snow-covered ground. "Well, I'm honored that I have such an effect on you, my love." He teased softly, reaching up to brush a snowflake from her cheek.
Elisa leans into his touch, her heart swelling with affection. "You always have that effect on me, baby." She admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. She could feel the warmth of his hand against her skin, even as the cold snowflakes continued to fall around them. He was always so warm, and she found it comforting.
Ben smiled softly, his hand cupping her cheek gently as he gazed at her with an affectionate expression. "As do you." He whispered. His thumb gently stroked her cheek, the pad of his thumb brushing against her soft, cool skin. She still didn't understand how he didn't seem to mind or of he did he never complained about the cold. She had always been worried that her magic might make her too cold for him, that her touch would be uncomfortable. But Ben never seemed to mind. In fact, he welcomed it, as if the chill of her magic was nothing compared to the warmth he felt in her presence.
"You never complain," Elisa murmurs her eyes searching his, a small frown of concern forming on her lips. "Doesn't it bother you? The cold?"
Ben chuckles softly, shaking his head. "Not at all. If anything, I find it refreshing." He admits, his cheeks flushing. "Your magic is a part of you and I love you, all of you. So no, it doesn't bother me. Even if it did, I wouldn't care because it's a small price to pay in order to be able to be with you, my love." He confessed, his eyes shining with a fierce love and adoration that Elisa couldn't help but melt at. His words always had a way of making her melt and leaving her speechless. He always seemed to know exactly what to say to make her heart race and leave her feeling all fluttery inside.
Elisa bit her lip, her heart fluttering as she gazed up at him. "I love you so much. Thank you for believing in me and giving me a chance. You've changed my life. I don't know where I'd be without you." She breathed out, her voice filled with emotion as her eyes glistened with unshed tears. It was hard to believe that a few months ago, she was living on the Isle, afraid and alone. She had felt so broken, so hopeless. But then she was given the chance to come back and now she was happily together with Ben and everything felt like it was going so well. It was surreal, and sometimes it was hard to believe it was all real and that she didn't just dream it up.
But it was real. All of it. And it was wonderful. Elisa's heart raced as she took a step back, feeling overwhelmed by the emotions swirling inside her. "Sometimes I still can't believe this is my life," She continues, her voice trembling slightly with the weight of her feelings. "From the Isle to here, with you...It's like a fairy tale come true." She looked up at Ben, her blue eyes shimmering with unshed tears.
Ben's expression softens, his gaze unwavering as he listened intently. "I never thought I'd get the chance to feel this way, to be happy, to have someone like you by my side." Ben's heart swelled at her words, his expression softening even further. He took a step closer, wrapping his arms around her waist once more, pulling her into a gentle embrace. The warmth of his body contrasted beautifully with the chill in the air, and Elisa felt a wave of comfort wash over her.
"You deserve this happiness, Elisa," He murmurs, resting his chin atop her head. "You've fought so hard to get here, and I'm proud of you. You're stronger than you realize." He held her tighter, wanting to shield her from any lingering doubts or fears. "You've made me a better man, a better king, and I can't thank you enough for that." He whispers, his words sincere. She was his guiding light, his source of strength and inspiration. She was the one who kept him grounded, who reminded him of what was truly important. He didn't know what he would do without her. "And you don't need to thank me for believing in you, or for giving you a chance. You're worth every bit of it. You've shown me what love really means, and I'll always be here for you."
Elisa leaned into his embrace, feeling the warmth radiating from him, making her forget the chill of the snowflakes around them. The world faded away, leaving just the two of them in their little bubble of magic and affection. "I never thought I could feel so loved," She whispers, her voice muffled against his chest. "You've given me something I never thought I'd have anymore: hope and love." She looked up at him, her eyes wide and sincere, reflecting the swirling snowflakes that danced in the air around them.
Ben pulled back slightly, enough to look deep into her eyes. "You deserve all the love and hope in the world, Elisa. You've faced so much, yet here you are, standing tall and brave. It's inspiring." His voice was steady, filled with warmth and sincerity. He could see the flicker of vulnerability in her eyes, and he wanted nothing more than to shield her from any lingering pain or doubt.
She buried her face against his chest, clutching the fabric of his jacket tightly. She couldn't believe how lucky she was to have someone like him in her life. Someone who believed in her, who supported her, who loved her unconditionally. Someone who would stand by her side no matter what. Someone who she realized she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. "I love you so much, Ben. I always will." She murmured, her words barely audible. But they were heard nonetheless, and they were enough to make Ben's heart soar.
He presses a gentle kiss on the top of her head, a soft smile on his lips. "I love you too, Ellie."
Butterflies are swarming in her stomach, her cheeks flushing as she pulls back to look at him. She leaned up on her tiptoes, her hand resting on his chest as she closed the gap between them. Her lips met his, her eyes fluttering shut. His hand rested on her lower back, pulling her closer as he returned the kiss. Her lips were soft and warm, sending tingles throughout his body. They stayed like that for a few moments, wrapped up in each other.
The snowflakes start to fall faster, the snow getting heavier. Elisa blushes, a small sheepish smile on her lips. "Oops." She murmurs, her cheeks pink. "Sorry-"
His lips are on hers, kissing her softly and deeply. He interrupted her apology with a tender kiss, pouring all his warmth and affection into that simple act. Elisa melted against him, her worries and self-consciousness dissolving as she got lost in the moment. The world around them faded even further, the snowflakes swirling into a whimsical dance, framing their intimate bubble in a magical white haze.
She sighed into the kiss, her eyes fluttering shut. Their bodies press together, molding together. Elisa's arms wrap around his neck, her fingers tangling in his hair. His hands rest on her waist, holding her close. They stay like that for a while, kissing each other and savoring the moment. Eventually, they pull away, breathless and their cheeks flushed. Ben rested his forehead against hers, his thumb caressing her cheek. He was grinning like an idiot, his eyes sparkling. He loved her so much. He was the luckiest man alive.
"So," Elisa says softly, her eyes sparkling. "Want to go build a snowman?" She smirked.
Ben chuckles as he smiles widely at her. "I'd love to."
****
"Well, that was really fun." Elisa grinned as she and Ben walk back to the castle. She had melted the frost and snow away before they left the clearing. They did take a picture of the snowmen they made though.
"It was." Ben chuckles, his hand intertwining with hers. "We should do it again sometime."
"We should." She agrees, her fingers entwining with his. "I had fun. I haven't built a snowman in years."
"Same. Remember when we were little and used to build snowmen and have snowball fights in the gardens?" Ben asked with a fond smile.
Elisa's heart warms at the memory. "Yeah, I remember. We used to have a lot of fun. We'd make a snow fort and build an igloo and pretend we were in the North Pole or something." She chuckled.
"Those were the days." Ben sighs, reminiscing about the past. "I miss those times."
"Me too." Elisa murmurs. "Everything was so simple back then. Now everything's so...Complicated."
"Well, I wouldn't say everything is complicated." Ben says softly, giving her a small smile. "It's just different." He squeezes her hand. "We're together now. Isn't that enough?"
Elisa's heart skips a beat. Warmth blossoms in her chest, her eyes shining. "It's more than enough, Benny." She smiles softly, feeling a surge of love for him. "Being with you makes everything better."
"Same here." He grins, bringing her hand up to his lips and kissing the back of it. She blushes, a small shy smile on her lips. She was so smitten with him. He stops, turning to face her. His gaze is soft and tender, full of affection. "You know I love you, right?"
"I love you too." She whispers, her hand cupping his cheek. She leaned up and kissed him, her lips meeting his. He returned the kiss without hesitation. His arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close as they kissed each other.
They stay like that for a few minutes before finally breaking apart. Elisa bites her lip, unable to hide her smile. Ben is staring at her, his gaze soft and tender. She blushes, averting her gaze. "What is it?"
"Nothing," He grins. "Just admiring the view."
"Oh, hush." She laughs, her face turning redder and her heart racing. "You're so cheesy."
"You love it." He said with a smirk, his arms still around her.
"Maybe." She grins, her fingers running through his hair. She was beyond smitten with him. "I love you."
"I love you, too." He whispers, his eyes sparkling.
She leaned in, kissing him once more. He sighed into the kiss, his heart swelling with joy. He was so in love with her and he was thankful everyday that she chose to stay with him. Even after all these years, his feelings for her had only grown stronger. He's always surprised by how much they keep growing. He never thought it was possible to love someone this much. But with her, it's like everything was possible. Like the world was theirs and there was nothing they couldn't do. She was his entire world and he wouldn't trade her for anything.
Same went for her. She had never expected to fall for him. Especially not this hard. But she was glad she did. Being with him was amazing and she wouldn't trade it for anything. Even though they had their fair share of problems, their relationship was worth it. He made her happy and she knew he felt the same. They were both each other's world. Nothing could ever change that.
Elisa pulled away, a shy smile on her lips. She stared at him, her gaze full of love and adoration. Ben's breath hitched. Her eyes were so beautiful. They always took his breath away. He cupped her cheek, his thumb brushing her skin. He leaned in, capturing her lips in another kiss. She returned the kiss, her hand resting on his chest as she deepened the kiss.
After a few minutes, they pulls away, both of them breathless. Elisa grins, her heart racing. "I'll race you to the castle!" She smirked.
Ben's eyes widened, a surprised expression on his face. Before he could respond, she was already running towards the castle. He laughed, shaking his head. He started to chase after her, a grin on his face.
"Hey, that's cheating!" He called after her.
"Then hurry up and catch me!" She taunted, looking over her shoulder with a playful grin.
Ben laughed, running faster to catch up to her. His heart was pounding, but it wasn't from running. It was from the fact that he was chasing the love of his life and would do anything to keep her in his life. He knew they still had a lot of things to work out, but at the end of the day, he was grateful to have her in his life. She was his everything and he couldn't imagine a life without her.
As they ran into the castle, laughing and teasing each other, neither of them could imagine a life without the other. They were meant to be together, and that was something they knew would never change. They would always have each other, and that was all that mattered.
Elisa let out a surprised squeal as Ben caught up to her and lifted her into his arms. She giggled, her arms wrapping around his neck. "Hi." She breathed out, her cheeks flushed and her eyes sparkling.
"Hi." Ben murmurs, his heart skipping a beat. He leans in to kiss her, his lips meeting hers. They share a soft and tender kiss, savoring the moment. Elisa sighs happily, her hand resting on his chest as they kiss each other. Eventually, they break apart, both of them smiling like fools. "I win." He grinned.
Elisa rolls her eyes, a fond expression on her face. "Yeah, yeah. You got lucky. Come on, we gotta get ready to bring the kids over from the Isle."
"I can't wait to finally meet them all. Especially Henry." Ben admits, sitting her down carefully. He wraps his arm around her shoulders as they walk to her dorm. "With the way you talk about him, he seems pretty great."
"Oh, he is. I can't wait for you to meet him." She smiles, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Though I think he will definitely need to be in Fairy Godmother's goodness class."
Ben chuckles, kissing the top of her head. "I'm just surprised you two are close. Didn't his dad try to kill your mom and aunt and overthrow Arrendelle?"
"Yeah, but Henry isn't his dad." She said softly. "He's not a bad guy. He's just...He has a lot of baggage. And trauma. I wish people would see him for him instead of judging him because of his parents. He's so much more than that. He deserves better."
"I'm sure he does." Ben smiles softly, understanding. "And I can't wait to meet him. I know I'm going to like him. Especially if he's as amazing as you say."
"He is." Elisa assures him, her heart swelling. "He's been there for me through everything. He's like my little brother. I love him."
"Then I'm sure I will love him too." Ben murmurs, kissing the top of her head. "You have a big heart. Anyone who has your love is lucky."
"Aww, Ben." She smiles, her cheeks flushed. She couldn't believe how sweet and kind he was. "I love you."
"I love you, too." Ben grins, his heart skipping a beat. His expression is soft, full of love and affection. "Forever and always."
"Forever and always." She added, a soft smile on her lips.
Forever and always. Those words meant everything to them. No matter what, they would always have each other. And that was enough for them. They knew that no matter what happened, they would always have each other. Their bond was unbreakable and nothing could ever change that.
Soon they get to her dorm, but they're reluctant to separate just yet. The warmth of their moment lingers in the air, and Elisa feels a flutter of excitement mixed with nervousness about bringing the kids over. "I'll see you in a few minutes." She promised, standing on her tiptoes to kiss his forehead.
"I'll miss you." Ben murmured, his hands resting on her hips as he leaned in closer, their foreheads gently touching. The connection between them felt electric, a reminder of all the love and trust they had built over time.
"I'll miss you too." She whispered, her heart skipping a beat. His words were filled with love and adoration. The look in his eyes made her feel like she was the most important person in the world. She was so grateful to have him in her life.
She gives him a quick kiss, a small smile on her lips. She turns to open the door, glancing over his shoulder and her eyes widen with surprise when he had suddenly tugged her closer to him, pressing her body against his. "Ben!" She gasped. She could feel her heart racing, a mix of surprise and exhilaration flooding through her. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned in closer, the warmth of his body making her feel a sense of comfort amidst the playful tension.
"Sorry, my love. Just needed one more kiss." He mumbled, leaning down to press his lips against hers. Elisa melted into the kiss, her eyes fluttering shut. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer. Her arms wrapped around his neck, her fingers tangling in his hair. She couldn't get enough of him.
Ben's hands wandered lower, his fingers tracing her spine. A shiver ran down her spine, goosebumps forming on her skin. Her heart was pounding, her cheeks flushed. Ben's hands were warm and gentle, his touch making her feel loved. She felt safe and secure in his arms. She didn't want the moment to end.
Finally, they pull away when they needed to breathe. Elisa's cheeks are pink, her heart racing. She smiles at him, her eyes sparkling. Ben's gaze is soft, his expression full of love and affection. His hands rest on her hips, holding her close. "Okay, I'll let you go now."
"Thank you, kind sir." Elisa grins, pecking his lips. "I'll see you in a few minutes." She promised.
"Looking forward to it." He grins. He kisses her forehead before pulling away. "I love you, baby."
"I love you too." She murmurs, her heart skipping a beat. His words were filled with love and adoration. The look in his eyes made her feel like she was the most important person in the world. "Now go, Benny. Or we are going to be late." She teased, poking his chest.
He chuckled, stealing one last kiss before he headed out. Elisa watched him leave, a soft smile on her face. She couldn't believe how lucky she was to have him. She loved him more than anything and she was grateful everyday that he was hers. She couldn't wait to spend the rest of her life with him. She shook her head, heading inside.
Her cousin and roommate, Krystal was finishing braiding her red hair, smirking at her cousin when she walked in. "Ah, so you were hanging out with your boyfriend. I was wondering where you were."
"Yep." Elisa chuckles, a dreamy look on her face. "I was practicing my powers when he found me at our spot and we hung out for a bit." She walked her to her closet to pick out an outfit.
"Cute. But really, I'm happy for you guys. And I'm glad you're getting a better hold of your powers. I'm proud of you, El." Krystal said with a fond smile.
"Thanks." Elisa smiles back at her. "I appreciate. Sometimes they're still kinda hard to control, I think they always will be, but I'm getting there."
"You'll get there. You've already come a long way. Just keep working on it. I'm sure it'll come to you eventually." Krystal assured her.
"I hope so." Elisa says, taking off her coat. "But anyway, what were you up to this morning? You were gone when I left to practice."
Her cheeks flush, her eyes shining. "Um, well..."
Elisa's eyes widen, a knowing look on her face. "Ooh. What happened? Were you hanging out with Jay?"
Krystal blushes even more, her cheeks bright red. "Uh, yeah. We hung out and watched a movie. That's all."
"Mhm. I'm sure that's all you did." Elisa smirks, waggling her eyebrows. She then notices a hickey peeking from the collar of her shirt. She smirks, tugging on her shirt to reveal the hickey. "You had fun, huh?"
Krystal's eyes widen, her face turning redder. "Shut up," She grumbles, swatting her hand away and pulling her shirt back up. "We had a little bit of fun, okay? Not a big deal."
"You're right, it's not." Elisa nods. "You two seem really happy together though." She said softly with a fond smile. "I'm happy for you, Krys. You deserve it."
"Thanks. I'm happy too." Krystal admits, a shy smile on her lips. "He's so sweet. I didn't think he would be, but he is. I'm so lucky. He's amazing."
"Aw, I'm glad. You two are cute." Elisa smiles, her heart warm. "You two are cute. And if he hurts you, I'll kick his butt. I'll even freeze him if you want me to." She added. Jay was like a brother to her, but Krystal was her cousin. She was like her sister. She would do anything to protect her.
"Thanks." Krystal chuckles. "But I don't think that will be necessary. He's not like his dad. He would never hurt me."
"Good." Elisa nods, her expression serious. "If he does, let me know."
"Okay." Krystal chuckles. "Noted."
The girls finish getting ready before leaving. Elisa goes to meet up with Ben at the castle while Krystal went outside to meet up with Jay and the others. There was a crowd outside, waiting for the arrival of the VK kids. Elisa smiled fondly when she walked up to Ben.
"Hi, handsome." She greeted him.
"Hello, beautiful." Ben smiles fondly at her, kissing her temple. "You ready for this?"
"Definitely." Elisa grins, reaching out to intertwine their hands together. "Let's do this."
