Welcome Home
*Hera's POV*
"Mommy! Mommy!"
I turned round to see Jacen Syndulla, my five and a half year old son bouncing up and down excitedly. I smiled fondly and crouched in front of the boy.
"What is it Jacen?" I asked.
"I learned a new Force ability! Chopper helped me! Can I show you? Can I? Can I? Can I?"
I chuckled.
"Of course sweetie."
"Come on!" Jacen took hold of my hand and pulled me down the ramp of the Ghost to where Chopper was sitting.
"Stay there" Jacen told me before rushing over to Chopper.
The youth reached out a hand and closed his eyes, face scrunched in concentration. Then suddenly, Chopper levitated a few centimeters of the ground. I felt shock ripple through me and then I noticed Chopper's thrusters out and running.
"See mum?! I can lift Chopper! I can lift him mum! I really can!" Jacen whooped, turning round to me.
As soon as Jacen spun, Chopper let go of his thrusters and fell face first like Jacen had lost control and dropped him.
"Oops, sorry Chop" Jacen quickly apologized looking over when he heard the clunk of the falling astromech.
Chopper got up, warbling as he rolled over to Jacen. Lightly patting his shoulder with his metal arm, the droid moved over to me. I crouched in front of him and smiled warmly.
"Thanks Chop, building his confidence will help him" I whispered.
Chopper beeped and gave a salute.
"General Syndulla!"
I stood to see Wedge running over to me. This spiked my curiosity.
"What's going on Wedge?" I asked the pilot.
"We've received word that Sabine and Ahsoka are heading in."
Confusion built up inside me as I looked up at the sky. The last time I heard from Sabine and Ahsoka, they were on their way to find Ezra. I would've glady joined the search, if I had not been so highly ranked in the rebellion. I'm sure Jacen would've loved the adventure.
In a matter of seconds, I saw the ship descending towards us. I picked up Jacen and stood back. The ship hissed as it landed, releasing steam from the legs. The ramp lowered. I smiled, approaching.
"Sabine, Ahsoka, what can I help you with-?"
My voice died in my throat. Sabine was standing at the end of the ramp, Ahsoka behind her. But someone was standing next to Sabine. His hair was long, much like it had been when I first met him, but this time it was pulled back in a ponytail. His slim face held a few scars on the tanned skin. His clothes were worn and looked nothing like the last time I had seen them. But his smile was the same. The sparkle in his midnight blue eyes shone bright when he saw me. I put Jacen down beside Chopper and walked slowly towards the man. Sabine nudged him with her elbow and he walked forward as well. We stopped, a few centimeters from each other. I reached out and cupped his cheek.
"Ezra" I whispered.
It was all I could say but it held so much emotion behind it. Ezra's face broke into the smile I'd missed so much. I wrapped my arms around the young man, joyful tears starting to fall.
"I missed you so much" I heard Ezra whisper, voice deeper than it was five years ago.
"I missed you too" I said softly then smiled.
"Wecome home."
