Chapter 36 [Bradon's POV]

.Chapter 36 [Bradon's POV]

This chapter is dedicated to every single person reading this book :) xx Two updates in two days... Yay me! :D

(Unedited)

Bradon's POV

The moon was looking so small and dull . . . just like my heart.

After everything that happened outside the living room, I couldn't go back to my room. Not with Chris in it.

So here I was, sitting out in the balcony on a futon, strumming my guitar, and singing in a low voice; moping around, my thoughts only concentrated on one girl.

"Somehow it feels like nothing has changed,

Right now someone's calling me name."

I closed my eyes momentarily, concentrating only on my voice and the way my fingers moved over the strings of the guitar, blocking out every other thought.

But I wished my heart could do the same . . . block out every emotion inside me.

What would happen if I just stopped trying any more? If I let her go . . . to Julian? If I let her slip from my hands?

Nothing new would happen. It was not as if she was dating me and was now leaving me. No, that would have been more painful. If she wasn't mine from the beginning, I had no reason to mope around, wailing as to why she wasn't mine, because if she wasn't, she never would be.

If I could just . . . let go . . .

But whatever I was thinking, I knew they were just words. I could never 'let go' of Chris.

And especially not when I knew so much about her; I was getting sucked in her labyrinth of lies, and now that I knew the truth, my feelings for her refused to budge, still in awe of her, despite such a barbaric past.

So I tried singing the same lines again, trying not to let my voice crack.

"Somehow, it feels like nothing has changed."

A lot had changed . . .

"Right now, my heart is beating the same."

Beating for her . . .

"Out loud someone's calling my name."

I wish it was you . . .

"It sounds like you."

And then I couldn't continue.

My hand slipped from the edge of the guitar, stringing random chords as it fell limp in the air. My eyes started watering as the meaning of the words I was singing sunk in deep in my heart.

Was love really this hard?

I knew it never was easy, seeing as I was cheated on by the same girl more than once, but the pain that I felt this time was insufferable.

If I got pulled deeper in, I knew I would not be able to get out of it later . . . I had to tell Leah to stop our little act.

I couldn't do it anymore.

As a tear escaped my eyes and joined the already present wetness of my cheeks, I got up, and turned around, only to come face to face with the person I wanted to speak the least.

I became aware of the fact that Chris could see that I cried . . . I just had to make sure that she didn't think it was because of her.

"Hey," she smiled weakly, and when I didn't answer, it faded, sending a pang in my heart. But I had to leave. Ignoring her, I started walking past her, but the moment she called out my name, I halted in my steps unsteadily.

"Brad!"

Out loud someone's calling my name,

It sounds like you . . .

That's when I realized the true meaning of those words, and for some reason, it brought a smile to me face.

But I sobered up at once, and without looking at her, I said in a low voice, "Can we not do this, please?"

"I need to talk to you," she pleaded, and I almost gave in. "Please."

"Okay," I agreed, turning around to look at her, and saw the redness in her eyes.

She had been crying . . .

"Can we . . . Can we sit outside here?" Chris asked nervously, her gaze constantly going down to the ground.

I nodded.

"So," she cleared her throat, "about earlier . . ."

Here goes nothing.

"Did you bring Leah here only to make me jealous?" she blurted out, and I looked alarmed.

But there was no point in turning back now.

"Yes," I said truthfully with a sigh.

"Well, I can say that it, uh, it worked," she mumbled, and looked away. The way the moonlight lit up her features caused my heart to leap in my throat.

"Good," I said impassively, and got up. I was fed up of the mind games.

"Brad!" she called out again, and I closed my eyes in anger.

Why was she making this so hard for me?

"What-" I started, turning around to complete my sentence, but I couldn't.

Chris closed the space between us, and crashed her lips on mine, kissing me gently. My stomach exploded as our noses brushed, and the guitar in my hand slipped, fortunately landing on the futon.

Her hands rested on my shoulders as she closed her eyes, and I felt mine close down too. Slowly, her hands travelled through my hair, and I smiled.

Christine Adams, the girl I think I love, was kissing me, taking the initiative for the first time, and I could not be any happier.

Suddenly, we moved away from each other, gasping for breath, and slowly, I saw a smile grow on her face, and my heart sighed with relief.

At least she wouldn't regret this.

I smiled back at her, and she tackled me into a giant hug, and I almost lifted her up.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she whispered fast in my ear. "I'm such a bitch, I will totally understand if you won't forgive me."

Then she unlatched herself from me, and cupped my cheeks.

"On the scale of one to ten, how mad are you?"

I couldn't help but laugh, and when I didn't answer, she gave my cheeks a slight squeeze with a serious look on her face.

"Maybe eight," I said with a smile, "but you made up for it."

Suddenly, her eyes started brimming with tears, and I felt my smile slip. Slowly, I held her hand, entwining our fingers.

The feeling was so good.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked gently, but she refused to look at me.

"N-Nothing, I . . ." she trailed off, and I sighed, sliding my forefinger under her chin, forcing her to look up.

"What's done is done, okay? Is there any point in delving on past things?"

She shook her head, and my eyes flickered down to her lips, and without a second thought, I kissed them again, savouring them.

"I'm sorry, too," I apologized, and she furrowed her eyes in confusion, causing me to smile.

I could never get over how cute Chris could be sometimes.

I was sorry for everything that happened. All the mixed signals, confused feelings, all the tears that were shed . . . but I couldn't tell her all that.

"I'm just sorry," I said, and brushed my thumbs against her cheeks to wipe away her tears.

This was what I had been dreaming to do since such an excruciatingly long period, and the moment I saw her blush under my touch, I knew how right this was . . . how right it felt.

Once in a lifetime, it's just right . . .
