I was standing in front of Freddie's with Amy right next to me. She glanced at me. "You ready for this?"
Amy's blue eyes looked intently at me as she awaited my answer. Her long, dirty blonde hair fell over her shoulders. Her signature beanie was on her head. It was a dark blue color, and went well with her shirt.
I shook my head. "I'll never be ready. We are going to soon find out why a girl killed herself, Amy."
"I know, but I was talking more about this group meet-up."
"I don't know. It doesn't seem too bad, but you never know."
Amy nodded. She then opened the door to the restaurant.
Freddie's was a small diner. It was like walking through a time machine, as it was styled exactly like the 50s diners in movies. Checkered files, bright reds everywhere, those twirling stools with the weird red plastic cover on them as well as the booths with the same cushion. It was one of my favorite places, but I hadn't been in a while. We looked around until we saw Damon sitting at the large booth section.
Damon had hazel brown eyes and naturally tanned skin. His eyes were the color of dark chocolate, and his face was free of any flaws. He was built, obviously as he was the star football player. Damon looked over at us and shook his head, probably thinking we were fans.
I walked over to the booth and sat down. Damon frowned at me and Amy as we did so.
"What are you doing here? I have some people I need to meet up with."
"Sophie Glade." I said, gesturing to myself. "Amy Fenwick." I said, jabbing a finger at Amy.
Amy waved. "Hello!"
Damon nodded. "Nice to meet you. I assume you know who I am."
Amy frowned. "Yes, we do. Now please, don't be a douche about it."
Damon smirked. "Yeah yeah, I get it."
Suddenly, another guy pushed his way into the booth. Literally, as he shoved Damon away to sit at the end. I sighed. Leo Jameson, the school prankster grinned at me. His mischievous blue eyes twinkled under the lights, and his freckles covered his whole face. His blond hair flopped in front of his eyes. Leo had tanned skin from spending time outside, and even though he wasn't the most fit person, he had some build. Leo gave Damon a cheeky grin as the football player looked like he was about to pummel his head in.
"Jameson..." Damon growled out.
Leo kept his grin on. "What, darling? Something wrong?"
Amy sighed. "Please, don't get into a fight here."
Leo turned to her. "Amy! How are you?"
My best friend groaned loudly. Leo then turned his attention to me. "Sophie, right? Yeah, definitely not Sophie Drake."
I shifted in my seat.
Before Amy could go ballistic on the bastard, I heard footsteps. "Move," came a familiar voice.
I looked up, only to stare into hazel eyes that seemed to make even the toughest of men quiver. A frown was etched on the person's chiseled face, and their brown hair was styled to the side today. Their skin was pale from spending time indoors, and I frowned at the expensive clothing they wore. I turned my attention back up to the person. "Hey, Jeromy."
Jeromy frowned. "Move, Sophie."
Amy scowled. "She doesn't have to listen to you, Jeromy."
Jeromy blushed and hung his head. I sighed as I stood up. "Here, you can sit next to Amy."
Amy frowned. "You don't have to-"
Jeromy nodded at me, his face stiff. I felt myself grow smaller in front of him. He slid in next to Amy, and scooted over just enough for me. However, Leo pushed Damon again until Damon was right next to Amy. Leo gestured to the spot next to him. "Come, sit."
I gave him a small smile before sitting next to him. Then, I heard heels.
Passion stood at the table. Her dark skin was covered by her soft pink tank stop and light skinny jeans. Her dark eyes stared into Damon's, and she twirled a strand of her dark hair. She had mascara layered into her lashes, and a slight blush added to her cheeks. Jewelry was placed al over her, and she jingled whenever she moved. She smirked at me. "You Sophie?"
"Yes?" I replied meekly.
"Move over, I want to sit next to Damon. You move too, Leo."
Leo shook his head as he threw an arm around me. "Sorry, no can do.
I sighed. I began to stand up, but Leo forced me to stay seated. He leaned in towards my ear. "Stand your ground, Sophie."
Passion sighed. "Don't force her to do things she doesn't want, Leo. If she wants to move, she can move."
Leo glanced at me, his blue eyes boring into mine. I nodded silently before standing up. He didn't say anything else as he got up with me. Passion grinned happily and sat down next to Damon, who smirked before throwing an arm over her. Leo sat down next to her and I followed.
Amy frowned at me, no doubt wondering what I was doing. I gave her a reassuring smile when I heard a voice. "You guys made it!"
We all looked to Calvin. He stood at the front of our table, a grin plastered on his face.
Calvin slid in next to me. "Also, we need to talk about when we can read this journal."
"The only thing I don't get is why you haven't turned it over to the police, Calvin." Jeromy huffed, brushing his hair out of his eyes.
Calvin frowned. "You'll see why later."
Damon narrowed his eyes. "You've already read it?"
"No, just- it's easier if I show you."
I stared at him. Amy glanced at me, and I at her. We then both turned to Calvin. "Why don't we meet up tomorrow, and we can see what you mean." Amy suggested, staring at him.
Jeromy looked annoyed as he looked at her. He clearly didn't like her talking to other guys. Calvin nodded. "I'll text you the address later, alright?"
We all nodded. Then, slowly, we all dispersed.
~~~
I was at home, waiting for the text from Calvin. While I waited, I was busy watching Arrow. I frowned as I watched an arrow go through on of the people. How graphic.
Not as bad as some other shows.
I agreed wholeheartedly with that. Misfits was a perfect example of that. I shuddered just thinking of the second episode.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I looked at the screen. It wasn't Calvin, it was Him.
Him: I need you tonight.
Sophie: What's wrong?
Him: The past keeps coming back.
Sophie: I'll be there soon, just give me a few moments.
Him: I'll be waiting.
I turned my phone off and then the TV. I stood up and dressed in my clothes before heading out into the night. It was freezing as I walked to his house.
I stood in front of his door fifteen minutes later and knocked on the door. It opened and he stood there. I gave him a small smile before he grabbed my wrist and pulled me inside.
The door shut behind us.
~~~
Sara's house was nothing to blab about. It was small, quaint, even. The trees were overgrown and overall unkept, but pops of color were strewn across the lawn. The flowers were lovely, and the spring weather did them justice.
I walked up the pathway to the door, when I heard a car pull up. I turned around and saw Jeromy's car. He got out of it and walked towards me. "Glade."
"Jeromy," I replied meekly.
He said nothing as he walked up to the door. I followed slowly behind him. Jeromy reached for the doorbell and rang it. A second later Calvin opened the door. "Come on in."
We walked in and saw everyone else lounging around the living room. Calvin walked into another room. Jeromy sat on the couch, and I had to sit next to him as it was the only other sat available.
I groaned slightly as I sat down. I was still sore from last night.
Jeromy glanced at me, and I blinked at him. He said nothing as he looked away.
Calvin came back out, holding a leather bound book in his hands. He sat down in a chair and looked at us.
"I was going to simply read it myself, but then I found this." Calvin murmured as he opens the book. He then pulled out a slip of paper and turned it around. "It has your names written on it."
Passion grabbed it it of his hands and examined it. She frowned. "It does...but, why? And yours too!"
Calvin nodded. "My cousin wanted us to see this, but I'm not sure why."
Leo exhaled. "Well, first chapter then?"
"Chapter?"
"Or entry! You know what I mean, Damon!"
Amy nodded. "Yeah, first entry."
