I walked down the street, having just been dropped of by the cab. The cold wind blew over me, causing goosebumps to pop up on my skin. I was regretting not wearing a shall toady. It was autumn, after all. It wasn't the smartest thing in the world that I've done.
A truck rolled on down the road, causing me to look at it. It was a Coke truck. I licked my lips as I thought of drinking a Coke. Shaking my head, I continued walking.
By the time that I reached my apartment, it was already past five. The funeral had ended at four thirty, and I knew my parents would probably be a little upset with me. Sighing, I pressed the button to call the elevator. Once it arrived, I stepped inside and pressed the button that would lead me to my floor.
Once the elevator opened, I stepped out and made my way to the door. The floor had ten apartments on it, each with three bedrooms at most. The least amount was one, and there were only two with two bedrooms.
Upon opening the door, I was bombarded by my mother, father, and younger brothers. They were twins, and shared a room. "How was the funeral, Sophie?" My father asked.
His hair was mostly gray, but still had the few black streaks. His eyes were a joyful blue, which sparkled in the sunlight. His skin was darker due to his Latino heritage, unlike my mother's and mine. He had a few wrinkles beginning to form on his forehead, but that was simply because of his usual worry fits he had whenever me or my siblings did something that wasn't 'safe' as he called it. He wore a gray sweatshirt with some gray sweatpants. I saw his old, gray socks that had originally been white, but due to his constant wearing of the socks, they turned gray.
"It was a funeral." I answered, biting my lip.
My mother patted my shoulder. "It's okay, ma fille."
My mother was a French immigrant. Her mother had just had her when they moved to America with my uncle, grandparents, and my great grandparents. She had dark blonde hair that curled around her neck. She had light blue eyes that reminded me of a hazy day at high noon. She had pale skin that was starting to get pale. She was a thin woman with slight curves. Her chest was on the smaller side, but was only slightly smaller than mine. She wore her blue tank top with her white trousers. She was barefoot today, so I could see the royal blue nail polish she wore.
I smiled at her nickname for me. Ma fille meant my daughter in French. My mother was fluent in the language, as her family still spoke it when she was young.
The oldest of the twins walked forward. "Sophie, that's not an answer." He said, a smile playing on the corners of his mouth.
I shoved him lightly. "Shut up, Jonah."
Jonah took after my father. He had the same dark hair and the same tanned skin tone. His eyes, however, were like my mothers. He was muscular due to the many activities he did. He mainly played sports. Like football, soccer, baseball, and sometimes lacrosse. He was only three minutes older than Kyle, the youngest brother. He wore his white shirt with some dark jeans. The jeans looked torn up, and I wanted to scowl at him for wearing them, seeing as they were about to fall apart.
Kyle walked forward. He was the one who look the most like mom. He had her dark blonde hair and the paper complexion. However, he had dad's eyes. He was the twin who usually pulled pranks and such. In fact, one time he clogged all the drains in the boys locker room and stole all the deodorants from their lockers and replaced it with a very strongly scented female deodorant that smelled really...girly, I guess? Let's just say the jocks smelled like lavender dream for a whole week.
"Sophie, how about we go play a game, aight?" Kyle said, squeezing my shoulder.
I shook my head. "Sorry, Kyle. I'd rather not."
Calvin would be calling me soon.
We had to make a plan of when we would read this journal. Calvin mentioned that he had gotten a bunch of other people too. I was slightly upset he got others as well, but I knew that I wasn't exactly a good friend of Sara's.
I sighed as I made my way into my bedroom. It was modest. Just a twin bed in the coroner, a small desk and a dresser. There was no decorations or paint on the walls. I didn't feel the need to have any.
The dress slipped off my body easily. I walked over to my dresser and rummaged around in it before I found a baggy sweatshirt and sweatpants. I pulled them on me before lying on my bed.
Suddenly my phone began to go crazy.
It was vibrating like crazy. I groaned before grabbing it and checking it.
A group chat. Joy.
I opened my phone and looked at he chat. I saw Amy's number, but the rest were unknown to me. That's when I read them.
Alright, alright everyone! You all want to read my cousins journal, right? Calvin. I quickly made a contact for him.
?: Of course, darling. Why wouldn't we want to? She did, after all, commit suicide.
?: Will it offend anyone if I refer to as 'Kermit Suicide'?
?: YES?! Why would you even ask that?!
Amy: Leo, did it ever occur to you that this is a serious matter?
I frowned. Leo was here? Why did Calvin include that kid? He was way to immature to handle anything. I sighed as I added his number to a contact.
Leo: Of course it did, I just prefer to not be serious. Makes me way more like able.
?: I beg to differ.
Leo: Shuddup Verona. You don't get to have a say.
?: 'least I'm popular.
Oh lord. It's Damon Verona, the star of the football team. What was he doing on here? What was Calvin thinking?
I quickly added him as well.
Leo: I'm actually quite popular, just not like you.
Damon: Of course. I'm popular because I'm hot and athletic. You're popular because you're immature and a prankster.
?: Boys, boys! Relax! You two are both equally attractive and I'm sure your penises are both huge.
I knew who this was. Passion, the most popular girl at our school. It was obvious as soon as I saw the words she said.
Damon: Passion, my dick can't compare to his.
Leo: Come now, Damon! You know exactly how big I am! ;)
Damon: Shut the hell up, bitch.
Calvin: Guys...
?: Calvin, why would you invite all these freaks?
The way that was worded...could it be...?
Calvin: Jeromy, they deserve to know too.
Damn it. Jeromy, the richest kid around. He looked down on anyone who didn't carry a thousand dollars around with them as 'pocket change'. Why he still went to our school was a mystery.
Jeromy: I still think you should demand money. How about five hundred thousand? That is sure to dissuade them.
Amy: Hey!
Jeromy: I'm sorry, I don't know who's number this is. Who's is it?
Amy: Amy Fenwick.
Jeromy: ...
Not only that, but Jeromy had a huge crush on my best friend. Yay.
Calvin: Alright, does everyone know who everyone is?
Leo: Nah, who is that one last one who's said nothing?
Calvin: Sophie, you there?
Sophie: Yeah, sorry. Didn't know when to jump in. Didn't seem that interesting.
Damon: I found the part where Passion complimented me to be very interesting. Didn't you?
Sophie: You don't even know who I am, Damon.
Damon: True.
Leo: Wow, how can you not know the lovable Sophie Drake?
Sophie: Not my name.
Leo: You're not Sophie Drake?
Jeromy: It's Sophie Glade.
Passion: That really smart girl who is secretly NOT a virgin?
Amy: WHAT?!
Jeromy: No, she's most definitely a virgin. She probably has never held a guys hand outside of her family.
Amy: Sophie has dated before, idiot. She just doesn't feel the need to date anyone at every single moment.
Sophie: Can we please not discuss my private life?
Leo: You sure you're not Sophie Drake? 'Cause if you are, then please, tell us. You are very attractive.
Sophie: You don't even know me, Leo.
Leo: If you're Sophie Drake I do.
Amy: OH MY GOD HER NAME IS SOPHIE GLADES!
Passion: You seem angry.
Amy: You people are badmouthing my friend, of course I'm angry!
I sighed and set my phone down. I didn't really want to get any more involved. But then, my screen lit up.
Calvin: Lets meet tomorrow.
I grabbed my phone.
Sophie: Where?
Calvin: How about at Freddie's?
Passion: That greasy place?
Leo: You're greasy.
Passion: What is that supposed to mean?
Leo: You're greasy.
Damon: Freddie's it is.
Other than a few more retorts from Passion, the chat grew silent. I set my phone down.
Tomorrow was going to be fun.
