I looked around groping in the darkness. Anything to save me from the thing trying to kill me.
"What do you want?" I screamed at it.
I heard a loud rumbling laughter. Goosebumps erupted on my sweaty skin.
"So you want to put up a fight, huh?" It said.
I screamed, "Someone help me! Please, someone help me!"

It just laughed in response, "My dear, no one is going to come to your rescue because you are trapped in a nightmare. It is just you and your thoughts here. Just you and me."

I screamed again. I felt my throat getting hoarse and my voice getting raspy. It advanced towards me with a knife. A long, sharp, glistening knife. It was pitch dark but I saw it. Coming closer, and closer.

Saliva got lodged in my throat. I could not swallow, could not breathe. I began heaving, shaking. Looked around wildly for a rescue. Anything to save me. It lifted the knife and took my hand in its cold hand. It's hand was pale, you could see the network of veins underneath. It sliced the knife along my arm.

I bit back sobs of fear and pain. Tears streaming down my cheeks. Blood pooled on the floor. Cool blood, deep red in colour. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my arm and I began feeling dizzy. My head was spinning wildly, out of control. I just fell on the floor with a loud thump.

I woke up with a gasp and sat upright on my bed. My body was drenched in sweat and there was a faint smell in my room but I could not quite place it. The moonlight was shining brightly into my room through my window. My body was heaving up and down. I reached out to grab a bottle of water to calm myself down and felt a sharp pain in my arm.

I looked down at it and screamed loudly. My arm had a ten inch cut. Blood was slightly oozing from the open cut. My eyes widened in horror. What the heck was going on? Was it a dream or did it actually happen? Who or what was that in my dream? Unanswered questions began running through my mind. I was going crazy, I think. I needed help, but no one would believe me. I slumped back in bed and sleep overtook me.
