3. Shall we?

And I don't really have much to say because I'm running late on this update, sorry but hope you guys like it ;)

Oberoi Mansion:

This place is so huge, I swear a thousand Ragini's and her Mumma's could fit in here and the half of this mansion could still be empty. Now slowly, not nervous though, but a weird feeling has crept in, you know the one they say butterflies flying in my stomach?

Well, girls have that usually when they see a boy but mine is not the one. I did meet this guy who brought me here, 'the Shivaay Singh Oberoi' guy! But he doesn't give me butterflies all he gives me is flies around my head, irritating, annoying, and bugging to hell. He's like that late night Macchar which goes 'zzzzzz' right next to your ear to pull the sleep out of your head and give you a headache.

None of these make sense, just like him, senseless and brainless. Anyways moving a little back, you know I was supposed to catch a cab but I seemed to catch a weird Al's car whose driver gave me a ride up to here, my so not wanted destination. I met his elite suited boss, he was kinda cute, kinda Sanskari, just like the boy a girl's mother talks about.

His face dripped of all values and virtues and goodie goodies to be said in one word full too Sanskari!

Apparently, even his name was Sanskar Maheshwari.

Ragini shut her diary feeling a constant gaze on her "You can already feel my presence, can't you?" Shivaay concluded standing right in front of her.

"Staring at other people's diaries is a personal crime, don't you know? Forgot your manners back at your cabin or missed it somewhere inside your big man egoistic brains?" she taunted quickly sliding her diary in her bag.

"Ouch! your words" Shivaay clutched onto his heart earning a chuckle from someone who grabbed both their attention towards the door.

"Hii!" Someone waved with a cute boyish grin, leaning onto the other side of the side "Is this the blabber machine you were talking about Bhai?"

Ragini's mouth formed an O as Shivaay nodded saying "seems you got a teaser already Chote!"

He walked in and lent her his hand "Rudra Oberoi, the youngest brother and the bestest Oberoi you could ever find."

CI: Rudra Singh Oberoi

And here we have the cutest hottie in town, Rudy boy or as he himself describes 'The Bestest Oberoi!', that he truly is. You ask why? Well, he might seem like a casanova because of course traits run in the family but then he knows to respect women, he knows what the limits are and he knows how to keep you comfortable, which most men in today's world lack.

While most sanest of the women won't fall for his charms, he's still loved the most by them all. And amongst the weirdo's that all his siblings are, regardless of gender, he seems a perfect package, the best of them all.

Ragini stood up ignoring his hand and retorted "no wonder some people think you are snobs, all thinking so highly of yourselves."

"Rude alert!" Rudra protested instantly.

"It's not like I'm gonna be marrying either of you, so why not?" she shrugged her shoulders to which Shivaay leaned closer to her ear whispering "are you sure?"

She glared at him and his eyes never left hers, the spectator nearby sensed a weird tension in the atmosphere and coughed bringing the duo back to the world.

"You know agar iss dunia k saare insaan marr gye (if all the humans on this earth end up being dead) and its just you and me, I'll still prefer dying single af" she stated and turned to the other sibling saying "I don't have much time to spend with your looser brother, so if you could take the kasht (trouble/ pain) of telling me when I'd be meeting the President, I'd be duly enlightened, Mr. Bestest Oberoi."

"Rudra Oberoi, not that the name you gave me isn't awesome though" he replied and she lends her hand to him with a smile "Ragini Kataria, apologetic for her earlier behavior which was clearly a reason of your big brother's presence."

As Rudra took her hand she acted like whispering to him yet made sure was clearly audible to Shivaay "whose clearly not 'the bestest human being' I've come across my entire human life."

"Glad to know you're a human" Shivaay interrupted with a sarcastic smile "I assumed otherwise."

Before another banter could start, a servant walked in and bowed low in front of them "everyone's at the dinner table waiting for you all."

Shivaay nodded dismissing the servant he turned to Rudra "Is Pari here?"

"Yup here and pretty pissed up on something Om Bhai said or did I don't know" Rudra shook his head.

Shivaay nodded turning to Ragini "Shall we?"

"Must say, those words are the only words that I strangely love hearing from your mouth" she stated walked ahead of him and he chuckled.

At the dinner table, Ragini was welcomed with a heartwarming smile, it was strange how these strangers gave her the warmth she yearned for. She expected her neighbors to be at least 10 percent of what the Oberois were being to her without any reason or connection.

The one closer to the head chair, a man in his mid-fifties still looking young was Mr. Tej Singh Oberoi, the CEO of the Oberoi Conglomerate. She'd seen him and the big family on magazine covers but never known who was whom. Next to him was elegantly dressed, seemed like a copy of her own mother, only if she were richer though. Better dressing sense cos of course money gets you designer clothes doesn't it, she was Jhanvi Singh Oberoi.

CI: Tej and Jhanvi Singh Oberoi

The couple that not only looked all perfect but was actually a perfect one, like the rest these two even have problems and secrets of their own but what makes them different and perfect are these secrets. These problems regardless of which they've grown together and worked so hard that no matter what their relationship was never affected.

But then can a relationship really be so perfect, like not just picture perfect?

Ragini who sat in the opposite row on the fourth seat couldn't help but smile at Rudra who was seated next to an empty seat all making weird faces and trying to cheer up a girl seated to her left.

Priyanka, the youngest and the most adored child of the family. Though all of the Oberoi's heirs were cherished, Priyanka was the only one to be almost worshiped by everyone in the family.

According to the magazine she read last month, Priyanka was the sole family member to have the most shares in the family business. Being the only girl child in the family, the male successors all had a very special spot for her in their hearts.

Ragini couldn't help but smile at the thought that how even though having all of it Priyanka was the only one at the table currently with a poker face. Her annoyance was clearly visible on her face as she ignored her brother's antiques and just stared at the empty seat to his left.

Ragini felt a constant gaze on her and could not help but turn to Shivaay's side finally asking "What is it that you want from me?" her voice lower and clear enough only to be heard by him.

Shivaay smirked querying "What is it that you have, that just makes me wanna gaze at you?"

"Ewww, if this is how you flirt, I pity your future girlfriends and wives" she stated making him wonder "plural?"

"Don't worry, he's gay" she couldn't help but chuckle at Priyanka's statement as she continued "Bhai just likes staring at women but do nothing, trust me all these years hotties came by and left but he was unturned."

Ragini tried not to laugh as the brother-sister got engaged in a fight, very low yet clearly audible to her. She covered her mouth with her right hand as two very old yet pretty hands reached each of the sibling's ears and held them firmly enough to make their owners wince.

"Mehmaan ke entertainment ka intezaam kithne acche se krlete hain mere bacche, haina? (My kids do really know how to keep guests entertained, don't they?)" the siblings made a puppy face as the lady smacked both their heads and turned towards the head chair of the table.

Kalyani Singh Oberoi, the name flashed into Ragini's head. She couldn't help but smile at the aura of the woman but strangely all this happening to her was very very strange. She was here to meet the President and say no or see an alternative for work.

But little did she know she would be sitting at the dining table all ready to have what seemed like more of a feast than a dinner. Why was she here? In the middle of a family dinner, the family she did not know much besides the magazines she's read or the news she's heard or viewed. Even her own mother never spoke about them to her, strange, working for years and yet not a bit of the information about Oberoi's she got from her.

Maheshwari Mansion:

A family dinner table is what he always expected, where everyone sat together, had a chat, shared food, had a laugh on some banter, or maybe just a small business chat. But all he got was an empty large table, with chairs and two servants waiting for him.

This wasn't what she said it would be, this wasn't even the smallest bit of what she promised him. Bua always said, our family was the best even though when it was messy, it was still at its best.

Everyone loved each other and never missed a chance to be together, he smiled sitting on the chair as the servants brought food.

He could hear the laughter, the banter over food not wanting to be shared. His lips curved up as he held the first morsel of food, the servant asked "anything you want Sanskar Baba?"

He shook his head and dismissed the servant, the first morsel in his mouth felt cold. The food was tasty and warm yet it felt cold. Just like the house, he stayed in the house which was once a home with people who once were a family.

As he gulped in a tear trickled down his cheek but the smile never faded, his smile was a sign of positivity. She always said, "Never let that smile fade Sanskar, until you are loved back the way you deserve don't let it fade. If someone who doesn't love you back as much sees even an inch of the pain you hold they might take it as an opportunity to destroy you, my son."

He wiped his tear and had another morsel, even if he wanted to laugh to cry to yell, or to live any of the emotions that were in him. Who would hear it? Not like people around him were deaf, but it was rather him who was mute.

"My heart aches to see him like that, why are you doing this to him ji?" she wiped her tear turning the monitor to face her husband. There he was, the boy who made them feel the happiness of being parents for the first time, the boy who was supposed to be loved, was sitting all alone by himself at a family dinner table without the family.

"Annapurna, we have had this talk again and again. Don't make me repeat my words, us being with him will make him even more fragile. He is our firstborn but with a defect that makes him weaker than his younger siblings," Durgaprasad exclaimed not looking at the monitor even for a second.

Annapurna's tears seemed unstoppable as she caressed the screen "in the quest to make him strong and independent, I hope we don't lose him forever."

"None of his siblings respect him, he is the eldest yet he is the one least desired. To make him a legal shareholder, you know how much trouble I had to go through Annapurna, don't you?"

She smiled sadly replying "Is it his fault ji, that he is the naive one in our family? He was brought up by all of us, loved. Both you and I know there's no way he could fight his own blood, don't we?"

Durgaprasad shook his head, his eyes still locked on the laptop he's working on "We have two sons but neither of them is capable of taking the responsibilities. Lakshya is being trained and with time he will learn it all."

"What about Yuvraj?"

"He seems to love his vacation with her, let him be there. Tomorrow, go to Saumya and ask her to come back home" he ordered to which she smiled asking "Home? Is it really home?"

Oberoi Mansion:

Tej was completely amused watching Ragini who couldn't help but be surprised at the food on her platter, all her favorites. As she dug into her food with a cute content smile, her eyes just on them his happiness had no bounds.

"Thank you" he whispered to his wife who sat right next to him "if it weren't for you, I don't know. Thank you for everything that you have done so far Jhanvi, even though if it's a small word I do mean it."

She caressed his hand with a smile that did not go unobserved by the head of the family "well, it's bad manners to talk while eating" the head of the house stated.

Everyone now looked up as she continued "But I must say, this young lady we have here is nothing but a mystery to me."

"Sorry" Ragini gulped in "I'm Ragini Kataria" she replied instantly making everyone at the table laugh.

"That even our servants know my child" the old lady smiled as Ragini flushed, embarrassment clearly evident on her face.

"What do you do as in work, study? Your mother really never told us about you. She kept you hidden and a secret as if you were her treasure."

Ragini smiled "I am her only treasure, Mrs. K Oberoi."

Shivaay coughed as a morsel of food got stuck in his throat making everyone worry except Ragini. She just slapped his back to everyone's astonishment and a final cough gave him relief as his mother who sat right next to him made him gulp some water.

"Are you done, or is there more drama left?" Ragini exclaimed earning a few chuckles at the table.

Shivaay opened the top button of his shirt and shook his head waving his left hand as a sign for her to carry on, "But now that I look at you guys" Ragini turned back to others "I feel like I wasn't her only treasure."

"And why is it that you feel that way?" Jhanvi couldn't help but ask to which Ragini pouted with a reply "She never told me about any of you guys like she never even back bitched about her boss or her boss's wife I just thought there could be two scenarios" and that grabbed everyone's attention.

"Either you are too mean and she did not want me to hate you guys or maybe you were too nice and she did not wanna jinx it" Ragini's reply again earned a few laughs at the table.

"Why would telling you about us, jinx it?" Jhanvi's smile was even wider now.

"Well," Ragini looked down at her hands her words even less audible "I talk too much, to literally anyone and everyone."

"Hun?"

"She means she's basically a blabber machine" Shivaay announced and Ragini smacked his arm. As he winced in pain, the whole table burst into fits of laughter.

Dear dear diary, I feel so so happy for a strange reason?

Nope! For a very very valid reason, that is the Oberois!

I never thought I could have so many people who would give me attention, talk to me, give me you know the family vibes. Every one of my classmates in school and college had a family, some nearer some distant but they did. And me, I just had Mumma as my family.

I never really counteracted back then but, to be honest, two people really don't make up a family, do they diary? I mean look at it this way, if I ever had a fight with Mumma I never had anyone else to bitch or complain about it. I was just left in a corner speaking to myself frustrated on whatever the thing that I was angry on.

But with them, I know it's very very weirdly fast but they feel like a family. They feel like they are mine like they were all these years just waiting for me to be found. I feel so so good, but suddenly there's also this feeling that not all is good.

I know I haven't been through many hardships in my life, but in my defense, I just lost the only person who I truly knew in my life. And it's more than the hardships that even daily soap bahus go through every day, okay diary?

Don't just be too judgemental on me, I just wanna be happy and this might be just the chance. They want me to take up a job, be the second son slash artist Oberoi's partner in business. They say Mumma did a lot for them and now it is their turn to do even more for me.

I'm still 10 % dicey on whether to say yes, me being me I'm always the jumpy one who takes no time to decide but this one makes me want to think.

Am I stepping in right or am I stepping in only to be taking a U-turn ahead?

RK

P.S. Things seem to have escalated too quickly for Ragini, but then sometimes don't we find people who just click right in at the first meet?

Most of the friends I've made are like that, I know not all relationships that are made so quickly are like trustworthy or go long way, but not all of them are bad. What do you guys think?

I really don't know much but for Ragini, let's see how this one works, even if she says No her life surely has a long way to go ;)

Until Next time,

Keep Reading :D
