Second Call
"Who was that?" Zain asked
Putting my phone face down on the table I replied, "No one important."
Brunet cleared his throat, trying to bring my attention to him. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and ignored him.
He should be ashamed of himself, there won't be a single word that'll come out of my mouth. His stay at my house has expired and it's time for him to go.
~
Around 11 this morning, Brunet left my house without my promise on helping him with his case.
It was a relief for me but for my babies it was like they were going through torturous times. They wailed and chased after Brunet as he was leaving, this was another one of my main reasons on why I don't like Brunet coming over to my home.
My kids are clingy, if they like you then they'll stay by your side. So leaving them will feel like they're being abandoned. I have to reenact this scene every time Brunet leaves, that shit makes me wanna cry.
As of right now, my kids and I are snuggled up together in my bed. Ant fell asleep in the warmth of Zain's and my arms, now whose left to sleep was Zain.
We silently enjoyed the calmness of our state, letting our minds wonder off. I stared at the zoned out Zain, going over his beautiful face structure again.
Everyday he's looking more and more like his father. Sometimes I'd wake up scared out of my mind when Zain was the first face I saw, I'd think that it was Enzo but after a couple of seconds I'd calm down.
A while back I had cut a few inches of Zain's hair off, it was growing mad crazy, faster than mines. His hair was down to his back and normally I'd braid to maintain it, but one day I just got tired of his long hair.
So I asked Zain if he wanted to cut all of his hair off, which in return he started to overreact. I remember him clutching onto his hair and crying as I stood before him with scissors.
Eventually we compromised on cutting his hair to neck length.
Ant's hair is the same as his brother's, growing like weeds. Though I'll wait until he's Zain's age so I can cut his hair.
"Mommy"
I hummed to Zain's call.
"Why are you so mean to Brunet?" Ugh, why does he have to bring him up? He just left and I was finally getting my peace back.
Zain stared into my eyes, awaiting for my response. "Because he's two-faced." I deliberately said.
Zain's face scrunched up in confusion, "Huh? Brunet doesn't have two faces? I see one." I laughed at Zain for taking the word 'two-faced' literally.
"No, two-face doesn't mean you literally have two faces. It means that you show one side of you and hide your really side which is hateful." I said.
Zain was just as puzzled as he was before, "How do you know Brunet hates you? I've never seen or hear him be mean to you."
"He messed up my mission a few years ago."
Zain laughed, "Are you talking about the mission where he tried to save people from your crazy idea to bomb a club?" He questioned.
Hey! That's not funny! I was hurt by his disloyalty to me. "Yes...I'm talking about that mission." I said ready to move onto the next subject. Zain made my reason for hating Brunet sound dumb.
"You know mommy, Brunet didn't two-face you. He was helping people that were about to die because of you. That's his job isn't?"
I really do hate when he does that.
"Well he still messed up my mission, if he wasn't dedicated to helping me finish my mission then he shouldn't have told me to save him." I said huffing.
Zain face palmed himself, shaking his head disapprovingly. "What else was he supposed to do? Tell the water to spit him onto land?
Grrrrrrr
"Your taking his side over mines." I said getting a little agitated. Zain rolled him eyes, "Mommy trust me, Brunet isn't two-faced."
I let his words sink in before I finally started to believe him. Though I didn't admit it out loud.
"Your running an extra 4 laps for the 4 seconds of eye rolling you did." I said.
Zain gasped, "Wh-
I quickly quiet him down by putting a finger on my lips then pointed down at his sleeping brother. Zain glared at me before turning to face the other way.
Laughing, I leaning in and kissed his head before getting off the bed to prepare lunch.
~
After lunch I took Zain and Ant to the track for Zain's training. First I had Zain warm up with a 10 minute stretch and 30 jumping jacks. Next I had him do 40 burpees and 50 push ups. Then, he finally got to start on his running, he's supposed to run 3 laps but like every other day, there's always extra laps added. Finally when he's done with that, I'd teach him the basics of mental strength.
In all it takes like 3 to 4 hours, we'd spend a lot les time if Zain would stop complaining.
A small constant tap pulled me out of my calm meditating state, "hmm" I hummed quietly, trying not to disturb Zain from his meditation.
Ant handed me my vibrating phone, an unknown number was calling me. Having no time to waste, I ended the call and sent Ant back to his little play area.
Not even a second later, Ant was back with the phone in hand. The same number was calling me, this made me tense up. I took the phone from Ant and declined the call and like before it called back.
Taking the call, I put the phone to my ear and waited for the caller to speak.
"N-N-Nunu ? A small shakily voice said.
There was a whirling noise in the background, making it sound like the person is flying in a helicopter or some sort of aircraft.
"Whose this?" I said getting to the point.
The voice started sobbing before they answered my question, "It's Unique."
Unique?
"How'd you get this number? And where are you?" I asked with my heartbeat speeding up in panic.
"I-I don't know where I am, I don't know these people, I don't know anything!" She said raising her voice in frustration and fear.
She didn't answer one of my questions, "How'd you get my number?"
She hesitated but before she can answer a loud creaking erupted in wherever she was. "Here's your- is that a phone?! Give me that-"
And the line was cut
