Promise
Pulling up to my flight garage, I quickly parked my car inside and hurried on out to open the door of my Learjet 24.
"Zain get your brother out of his seat and meet me inside the plane." I muttered out as I climbed into the jet.
Checking the system of the jet, there weren't any problems or mishaps meaning the jet is in good condition for take off. Hopefully this'll be a smooth ride and that we'll arrive there safely.
I heard Zain's heavy steps climbing onto the jet and then a thud, so I turned the engine on and left the cockpit to check up on him.
He was sitting on one of the passenger's chairs as he angrily looked down at his brother, who by the way is ignoring his glare since his attention is already preoccupied by the new environment he's in.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
Zain didn't even look at me, all he did was glare at the ground. I sighed, approaching my angry baby, kneeling to his seated height I put my hands on his knees and looked up at him.
"This is for your safety Zain. I can't go on this mission with you clinging onto my legs." I softly said, moving my hand to cup his face.
Not before long he started crying, a stream of tears left his right eye before his other eye started it's stream. "M-mommy, the last time...you almost died. D-don't go, stay with me and A-ant."
His eyes peered into mines, pleading for me to stay with him. "I won't be gone too long, all I'm gonna do is look into something, my guts's telling me we could be in potential danger. I'll be back before you know it." I continued to reason with him, my heart trying it's hardest to resist his request.
I fought between my soft motherly instincts and my peril instincts. Either I go back home with my babies or I go prevent danger from getting near us.
"We're safe mommy, there's no danger. I..If there were w...we'd be dead or in trouble right n-now." Zain said taking a few sniffles in between his words.
He doesn't understand, if I get the sense that danger is coming then I have to drop everything to protect my family. The difference from when Brunet spied on me and now is that, the eyes that were on me practically triggered Jade and I both to act as one.
The only time Jade and I are in unison is when we're protecting what's ours.
"Jade sensed danger too, baby." I said
Zain quickly shook his head no and started to push me away, "No! No! No! There's no danger mommy!" He yelled out through his cries in frustration. Great, he chooses now to throw a tantrum.
I seated my butt on the ground, Indian style, and watched Zain break down, yelling and throwing things. I won't dare stop him instead I'll wait. I'll wait for him to finish his outburst, talking to an angry person will just get me angry which will then make things worse.
Ant walked over to me in fear of getting in his brother's way. I cradled him in my legs and arms as he clung onto my torso, hiding his face from Zain's outrageous actions.
I planted a kiss on Ant's head and whispered, "It's ok, Zain's just angry."
Eventually Zain fell on his knees and bent forward with his arms basking his head, covering his face as he cried.
"Come here Zain." I said calmly.
He looked up from his position, his face was drenched in sweat and tears, with snot running down his nose.
"Come here, let me hold you." I said, extending my hand towards him. Immediately he crawled towards me and snuggled into my arms with his brother.
I let him drench my shirt with his tears as he tightly held onto me, afraid that it'll be his last time. "I-I'm s..sorry." He said with words waving out of his mouth from his constant shuddering.
Smiling, I kissed his head, "It's ok, but when I come back, I want my jet cleaned and better. Oh and that's an extra 4 laps." I said before hearing a small giggle leave his mouth.
"Do you p..promise to come back?" Zain said, looking up at me. I put a hold on his question and reached my hands behind my neck. Unclipping my small chain and bringing it to my eyes.
I looked down at it with a small smile, "You know, your Grandpa gave me this before he left on a big mission. We were in the same boat right now, I didn't want him to leave but he had too."
Zain and Ant looked at the gold chain in my hands, it was pretty plain, just a small W at the center of a circle, "Did he come back?" Zain asked.
I moved to put the chain around Zain's neck. Once it was on him, he looked down at it, "My dad promised to come back for this chain. Now, I promise to come back for it too. Keep it safe, it's special."
Zain's hand went to hold onto the W, looking down at the treasure he must protect "I will mommy, I'll keep it in good condition until you come back."
I smiled and patted his head, "I'm counting on it."
"S-so your...not mad no more?" Ant asked Zain hesitantly.
Zain pulled away from me and opened his arms for Ant. Ant let go of me and crawled into his brother's awaiting arms, "You don't have to be afraid, I'll never hurt you." He said, hugging his brother.
Watching this lovely moment play out, I couldn't help but let out a tear, "Protect your brother, Zain."

Knock
Before I could knock again, the door swung open and Mrs. Jackson came into view. She had on her usual gardening overalls and a big smile, which grew bigger upon seeing us.
"Oh my gosh! They've gotten so big!!" She wailed out, falling to her knees so she can give Zain and Ant a big hug.
I laughed at Zain's discomfort when she started kissing they're faces. Ant on the other hand, took in all her kisses with giggles, I know it tickles him, he's always been very ticklish.
Ms. Jackson let them go and stood up. She looked at me before quickly frowning, "Have you been eating? You've gotten smaller."
"Yea-"
"You know what, come in. Let me help get some meat on your bones." She said before turning away and disappearing inside her home.
Ant didn't hesitate to follow after her, I'm pretty sure he can already smell the food from out here. I groaned before pushing the reluctant Zain into the home and following after Mrs. Jackson.
