"We're running outta gas."

I felt Unique's head move to look at the gas gauge in front of me, she immediately let out heard low groan as she thought of the same thing as I did. We'd have to walk the rest of the way.

There's enough gas to get us about a mile or two ahead but eventually we'd still have to walk at least 10 more miles. The road we're on ain't got nothing but trees and dirt.

I made sure that throughout the whole duration of this ride that no one is following us, and so far everything is going good. Unique and I will reach that bus station by night fall, and hopefully everything stays good.

As much as I'd like to think everything is gonna be fine, my gut is telling me something different. I have a strong feeling that the professor and his goons are gonna come back twice as hard.

Dr. Stewart knows a little about me and with that very little information they can use it to corner me. She could have even took that healing thingy and I bet she's still up and well.

This is serious Nunu, the game has changed. You're not the predator anymore, I'm the prey. But I won't be an easy prey.

No matter how long it'll take to get rid of these mad people, my goal will stay the same. I'm fighting for my kids and I's safety.

15 minute later

The old, rusty bike started to slow down and sputter out bursts of gas before the engine finally stopped running. I sighed as I put my foot on the floor to balance Unique and I.

Looking back, I saw Unique was asleep and most likely won't wake up until she's been re-energized. She's been through a lot today so I'll let her rest.

Holding onto Unique, I got off the bike and turned to pick her up. Now, I'm not a man and I sure ain't gonna wear out my arms by using her as a weight. Instead, I put her on my back.

With her nicely snuggled behind me, I faced the road ahead on me and began my walk.

The road seemed to get longer and longer as my stomach angrily growled in hunger. I knew I should've ate some of CJ's food last night. He was happy to share anyways.

Oh CJ, I'm sorry. It's my fault. It's mine, all my fault. I dragged you into my mess when I should've left the moment I was able to fully walk, despite me not finished healing.

If I see that Death guy again, I for sure will make him bring you back. If he's able to kill someone with a single touch then he should be able to bring them back.

The professor can't be stupid enough to have that guy have the ability to only kill people with his hands, he should also be able to bring them back. What if he accidentally touched someone?

Oh and that bitch Dr. Stewart will get what's coming for her, best believe that!

My legs stopped and my heart pounded faster, there's something here with us, please just be an animal. With Unique asleep and on me, I can't fight and protect her at the same time.

I looked back knowing that the sound came from behind us, about a couple of yards into that small patch of trees. My eyes scanned the trees and bushes, looking for any movement.

Everything was still whereas I was battling between my instincts to boldly run into that area and search for the being that's in there, and my motherly instincts to protect Unique by all means necessary.

"We run now and fight later."

Listening to Jade, I turned forwards and raised my foot one by one, gradually increasing my pace and not long I was running at full speed.

I put half a mile in between where I was and now. My mind kept repeating run, run, run, and I listened hoping to get Unique to her destination safely.

With "Run" loudly ringing in my head I didn't recognize my surround until I reached my mile mark. A faint heartbeat had crept up into my eardrum...the Otto brother's heartbeat.

Oh fuck!

He was fast, really fast. As an ex assassin I for sure know he can run as fast and as far as me. I can't get tired, if I do i'll reach my end quicker than I'd expect.

My heavy breathes and long strides awoken Unique with a loud groan. She rubbed her eyes before taking in her surroundings. "Why are we run-"

Bang

Shit! That came close to my foot! I quickly made a left off the road so I won't be so easy to spot.

"Oh shit! What was that?!!!" Unique yelled as she kept looking back.

"Let me down! Let me down!"She yelled once again as she excessively tapped on my shoulders

I rolled my eyes at her loudness and quickly placed her on the ground. The moment her feet landed on the ground she ran ahead of me, having me follow suit.

This is much better, we'll gain so much distance between the Otto brother and us.

"We have to get to the bus station! Daniel and his posy could handle whoever is after us!" Unique yelled as she looked back at me.

Up ahead of her, there was a big oak tree in our way and with Unique looking back at me, I knew she couldn't see it. "Watch out!!" I quickly yelled out.

It was too late, Unique's head met the oak tree's barky stem. She fell back with a loud thud and more groans followed after. I stopped as soon as I reached her and kneeled down.

I took a look at her and saw a gushing patch of blood trickling out of her head. With that large wound, she was bound to bleed to death, I have to wrap it.

With an ear out for the Otto brother, and my eye on Unique. I quickly tore the hem of my shirt, exposing my sensitive skin to the cool night air.

The wind in the air picked up and whisked my stomach as I sat Unique up against the tree.

"This is gonna hurt." I mumbled to her before tightly wrapping the cloth around her head

"Ahh-mmmm!!" Unique yelled out as I placed my hand on her mouth, muting her echoing yells.

"Shhh!"

For both of our sakes, we have to stay quiet. The Otto brother is still on us. Strangely, I don't hear him at all so that either means he's backed off or he's getting back up.

I'm really not in the mood to see or fight Death, so we definitely have to make it to the bus station.

After wrapping her head, I stood up and looked down at the sitting Unique. It's a good thing that she's still up, I don't want to carry her while she's unconscious. She won't be able to respond to anything leaving her vulnerable.

From afar I heard more shots fired, what's going on??

"Come out, Come out wherever you are!!! Janunu there's no where to hide! Come out and fight us!"
