Chapter:41
Here it is another chapter..
*************
Three months ago..
Jeremy rushed out and Catherine followed him. They were silent throughout the ride. She looked out as a tear rolled down her eyes once in a while. She felt hurt after everything said and done, she hoped he would at least try to give her a chance. Now her hope shattered. As much as she wanted to ask him about earlier. She is afraid of what will come out of his mouth. She closed her eyes trying to control her breathing.
Jeremy was silent. It's not like he can explain himself, he does not know what came over him. He just blurted out his feelings. Something he likes to keep under wraps. After telling Catherine that he will give her a chance, they all crashed down when he heard what came out of Cassandra's (Cassandra mother) mouth about his father.
Jordan Gautier
He admired that man all this life and how successful he was. He wanted to become a successful lawyer like him. He tried so hard to fight with his mother to become a lawyer. Hatred bubbled in him he punched the steering wheel. Jeremy sighed everything crashed on him. His mother was an escort not only any but a high class escort. Does it matter to him?
The answer is no. It never mattered. That's his mother for God sake. How could it even matter? He loves her and there are no ifs and buts in there. He stopped in front of the building.
Catherine looked at the building before getting out of the car. She decided to talk to him.
When they entered the apartment, she finally opened her mouth, "you never talked about this before" Catherine said painfully . Jeremy turned around, his eyes void of any emotions.
"Do you know why?" Jeremy asked coldly. Something is off. Catherine felt a chill.
"No, I need to sleep," Catherine said, trying to get away from him, only for him to grab her hand and pull her closer.
"Jeremy let me go. I don't want to know anymore, please" She struggled only for him to wrap his arm around her. He softly tilted her face breathing down.
"I don't trust you" Jeremy whispered, her eyes widened slowly, tears filling her eyes before falling one by one. Catherine's tears broke his trance. Jeremy blinked his eyes letting her go. She took a few steps back before sliding down the. He closed his eyes hearing her cry was the most painful thing for him.
"Why?" She asked. He looked away, not answering right away as much as he wanted to deny what he said. It was true though.
"Do I really need to explain?" Jeremy asked. Catherine looked down as much as she wanted to hear him give her an explanation or deny it. He pointed the gun at her.
"Will you... Will you never forgive me?" She asked softly.
"I don't know whether I think I can but I promise to be a good father and take care of the child but I don't know if I can be a good husband. If you ever feel like that you can find someone else in that time period I will let you go" Jeremy said painfully. She was still shocked at his words.
"What are you saying?" She asked as her voice trembled.
"You.. I ..." Catherine stumbled on her words. But she felt choked as she realized something.
"Will you..?" Her voice trembled.
"Will you find someone else??" She asked as her voice choked.
Jeremy closed his eyes, "Who knows" lie. He doesn't know whether she will believe him or not but she is the only woman he has ever loved. He chuckled painfully.
"You are lying," Catherine said, looking at him hurt.
"Am I now?" He asked looking away from her.
"I won't find someone else and I would not allow you too" she said staring at him. He looked at her and his eyes widened.
"Do you hear me?" Catherine asked.
"Why don't you believe that you are the only man I have ever loved?" She said tears falling from her eyes.
"Because you don't believe me too" his eyes showed various emotions in which hurt was prominent.
"Do you think I would have been broken if you told me the truth? For what?" Jeremy yelled trying to keep his distance. She flinched, jumping up almost.
"I.. I did not want you to.... look at your mother differently. I know you love your mother. I don't want you to not too trust her because of me" Catherine looked down tears fall from her eyes. When she hears his chilling chuckle.
"Mother never trusted me that does not mean I don't trust her. Her obsession to make sure I am not like my father was more important to her but for me, I love her. She gave birth to me and brought me up. I am in this position because of that. I can never look at her differently just for that. I don't care if I am a bastard neither do I care whether that son of a bitch wants me or not. I don't care because I don't have any expectations from him" Jeremy said his eyes glassed over.
"But you.. I.. You lied, You broke my trust. You are the one who hurt me, I should not trust you" Jeremy said coldly.
"I don't want you to mistake this. I am doing this for the baby. Don't mistake it for anything else. I will give you everything that I am physically capable I promise.." his words hurt her.
"But I do trust you," Catherine said.
"At that time I made that decision. I know I should have told you the truth but I cannot do that. I did not want to hurt you but in the end it did hurt you" She closed her eyes taking a deep breath.
"Jeremy, I love you. I only love you and I won't go find another man or anyone" Catherine walked up to him touching his cheeks. Tears fall from her eyes.
"Promise me that you won't find anyone else," She said. He gulped down, as if he could find anyone else. She might not know but that day he lost his virginity to her too.
"I can't promise you anything like that," Jeremy said coldly, trying to keep his eyes on her. Her eyes widened.
"I won't allow it," she yelled.
"I won't allow any divorce. I won't allow you to have an affair. Do you hear me?" He bent down, their nose almost touching.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Jeremy asked mockingly.
"Your wife. You said that yourself" Catherine stared at him confidently, pressing her lips against his. He stilled, she closed her eyes. The next moment his fingers went in her hair threading it before pulling her closer. He pressed her lips harder. His other hand went around her waist. He softly bite her lips. She moaned, as his tongue invaded her mouth. After a while he let her go, getting his sense back leaving her breathless. He pushed her away. She felt hurt.
"Don't do this to yourself?" Jeremy said, shaking his head.
"No, don't do this to me," he stared at her for a while. Her eyes watered and she took a few steps back.
"You are just like your father" Jane said those words coldly. She was standing at the door. They did not notice her. Jane wanted to give them privacy and wait till they sought out their differences but when Jeremy pushed Catherine away hurting her, that was the last stroke. She decided to intervene.
Jeremy froze, Catherine's eyes widened. He turns to look at Jane.
"You don't know anything," Jeremy said.
"I was here the whole time. I know enough" Jane glared at him.
"Why are you always comparing me to that man?" He asked painfully, his eyes stung with tears.
"Why do you always make assumptions? Why cannot you for once listen to my side?" Jeremy asked, hurt.
"I was standing right here, I saw what you did to her? What you asked her? Do you think I am blind?" Jane yelled.
Jeremy was silent after that, "Right you won't ever listen to me you never did" he mumbled.
"You are right," Jeremy nodded his head. His eyes are void of any emotions.
"I am like Jordan Gautier," he said.
"I will prove it now," He said, turning to Catherine.
"What are you going to do to her?" Jane yelled.
"Jeremy don't you dare do anything to hurt her" Jane was horrified.
He grabbed her hand and dragged her to their room.
"Pack your things and get out of this house" Jeremy said. Catherine looked at him shocked.
"Jeremy, how could you ask her that? She is pregnant with your baby" Jane glared at him.
Jeremy looked at Jane and smirked, "Do I look like I care?"
"Fine, don't regret it," Jane said.
"I won't," he said, trying his best to avoid looking at Catherine. She was lost. Jane softly touched her but she did not react at all.
"Let's go" Jane grabbed her hand pulling her up. Jane dragged her out of the house leaving him in his own misery...

Present..
Coltrane sighed rubbing his head, "Is this some kind of a joke?"
The fact that Cassandra died was normal because they already know her condition but all this complicated situation. He sighed, shaking his head.
"I am sorry Coltrane but he is just an innocent little boy" Carson said.
"I know" He knows that the kid is too innocent to be a part of some kind of set up. That's the reason he did not said anything like 'take him and get the fuck out of here' the first time he saw them. He is grateful to Dr.Ernest in the last three months for helping him to cope up with everything. He was almost going mad at that time so he started visiting Dr.Ernest for therapy which made him quite a rational thinker. But that does not change facts here.
"But I can't take care of him. I can give money but I don't think that's the only thing a kid need" Coltrane said bitterly being someone who lived his life without a mother and a father who is always spending time in office and business trips. He knows the bitter reality and the loneliness he felt throughout his youth.
"Coltrane, please at least, Let him meet Cassandra" Carson again tried almost pleasing him.
"No" He gritted his teeth. That's out of question knowing whose son he is.
"I don't hate the kid but that does not mean I will let him meet her. We don't know how that will affect her."He sighed, rubbing his face.
"I can't take the risk. I am sorry" Coltrane said coldly, trying to keep his emotions in check. He knows more than enough how it feels to lose your mother at a young age but at least he has his father.
Even though Cameron's mother was not much of a mother to Cassandra. Coltrane shakes his head being alone in this world without any support, he knows abandoning the kid is something wrong. But what should he do? He is stuck in his mess. If only Cassandra was alright he would accept the kid even knowing whose kid he is and He is sure Cassandra would have loved him wholeheartedly too.
"Then I have no option but to send him to an orphanage" Carson sighed. Coltrane turned only to feel something stuck in his throat especially when he saw those innocent eyes brimming with tears. It feels like Cassandra was standing there with tears filling her eyes.
"Orphanage?" That word breaks his heart.
"Don't you like me?" The kid asked innocently.
"No kid It's nothing like that" Coltrane sighed painfully.
After a lot of thought he sighed even if Cassandra came around she will hate him if she gets to know about this.
"Do you like this house?" Coltrane bent down to the child's height. He blinked his eyes.
"Good," Cameron said.
"Just good?" He asked, chuckling. He rapidly nodded his head.
"Carson after giving a thought I decided. He is Cassandra's brother. I can't let him be in the orphanage. I will take care of him till Cassandra comes around" Coltrane said determined. Carson was shocked that Coltrane accepted, he was sure that he would reject him. He even called the orphanage for an appointment because he can guarantee that.
It almost feels like Cassandra has influenced him. The Coltrane he knows is not like this.
"There is a problem though" Carson sighed. He looked up what it was?
"You need to sign up as his guardian. Cassandra's medical condition does not allow them to give his custody to her" Carson sighed. Coltrane looked at Cameron smiling softly.
"It's fine I will," he said.
"Can I see her?" Cameron asked. Coltrane give him a brief nod,"Later"
Before taking Cameron's tiny hand.
"Let me give you a tour kid," he said. When he passed around various rooms Cameron's eyes widened in astonishment.
"Your house is big"
"It's our house kid" Cameron tucked his pants.
"Where is the big sister?" He asked, his eyes saddened.
"You big sister is a bit sick when she gets better. I promise to let you meet her," Coltrane rubbed his head.
"Why don't you select a room in which you are going to sleep?" Coltrane said. And give him a tour. What he does not know is that Carson takes Cassandra out of her room.
He was shocked to see her on the living room couch. Cameron stare at her for a while before dashing to her. Coltrane was too shocked to say anything but he glare at Carson.
"Get out and don't come here again" He yelled, losing his temper. Carson did as he asked. Carson promised Cassandra that he will make her son and her daughter meet today, the day she died. This was her last wish and he is going to keep that. As much as he wanted to deny her life messed up and he is responsible for that too somewhat.
Cameron hugged her sobbing. She was staring at nothing but her body collided with his. She almost crashed. Before Coltrane can pull him off. He was clutching her sobbing. For the first time the little boy cried since he heard that his mom passed away.
His warm tears trickled down his eyes. She stared at the kid. Her eyes fold as she frowns.
The heart wrenching sob of the little boy, breaks her silence. He clutched her crying and sobbing. She blinked and stared at him.
His small body shakes as his arms go around her crying. Slowly she put her arms around him. Coltrane's eyes widen, he almost falls down in his knees. For the first time in three months she reacted.
"D... d...d..o..n...t c...r..y" she said with a lot of difficulty her voice was closing off on it's own.
Three months it's been three months since he heard her voice and tears filled his eyes. He was trying not to break down in front of them.
It was weird how she held Cameron and provided him warmth. She softly rubbed Cameron's back encouraging him to stop crying. As the time passed on Cameron fell asleep in her arms.
Cassandra just stared at him. Coltrane slowly went near them.
"I will put him to bed," He said softly. Cassandra did not protest at all. She just stared at the kid without another word. Coltrane tugged him on the bed and came down to see Cassandra was still there staring at the same spot.
"Do you want something?" He asked. Cassandra did not reply at all and went back to her room. That was a pleasant surprise for him. She did something on her own.
After yesterday, everything started moving slowly but at least it started. She was struggling to speak so he called the doctor that day. The doctor ran some tests and told him her vocal cord is fine. The problem she is having is because of the muscle strain. It will go back to normal in a few days if she continues to speak.
Cameron was a god sent. That kid has good manners. He knows not to disturb him when he is working that time he spends with Cassandra which is good because Cassandra talks in his presence. Even though she still stares at a distance most of the time but when Cameron is near she tends to stare at him.
It's been one day since the kid came. Carson called him today. He was furious at him but after everything went by and it did not affect her, he let it be. But if anything happened Coltrane would not know what he would have done. He closed his eyes as, it's Cassandra's funeral tomorrow. He bit his lips.
Coltrane talked to Cassandra about various things but those always revolve around stress free talk even though most of the time it is a one sided conversation. He has not told her about who Cameron is and even if she knows who he is. Does she know about her m.. Cassandra? He flinched even calling her mother leaves a bad after test on this mouth. Coltrane needs to talk to her. He went in to see, she was feeding Cameron as he talked about various stuff which he did not get and he is sure neither did she. Cameron giggled, she smiled at him softly.
He waited till she finished his food. Another thing that happened after that was she ate by herself. He missed feeding her even though it's been only one day. He decided that today he will be the one doing so.
"Well kid it's time for your bed" Coltrane said strictly it was almost 10 and a kid should not stay awake that late. He internally groaned, why does he sound like a father?
Cameron pouted but Coltrane raised his eyebrows. He walked in the attached bathroom and washed his teeth and came back.
"I will tuck him in bed then we can eat" Cassandra gave a stiff nod, her face devoid of emotion as she stared at the wall. He sighed it's a good sign that she is reacting.
"Come on kiddo" before Cameron came with him. He jumped on the bed kissing Cassandra's cheeks.
"Good night" Cameron said sweetly.
"G...G....good n..ni...night" she said back kissing his forehead. He smiled brightly. As they get out of their room.
"I need that kind of good night too," Coltrane told him.
"No," Cameron said, crunching his nose in eww.
"Why?" Coltrane almost pouted. Almost is the key word.
"Because men do not do that" Cameron looked at him when he told him that seriously he could not help but laugh.
"So where is this man? You are talking about" He teased him. When Cameron pointed at himself.
"Oh! Yes you are a big man" Coltrane chuckled and pulled him on his shoulder before walking off, Cameron giggled.
After tugging him on the bed. He went back pulling a trolley with food. They eat silently. When he tried to feed her she refused to take a bite. He sighed after eating they both got ready for the bed.
"Cassandra" He called her. She ignored him. He holds her shoulder making sure that she looks at him.
"L..e.t go" she struggled.
"Listen to me carefully" he sighed.
"Cassandra died. She is dead" She froze her eyes widened. That's the last thing she wanted to hear.
"Cameron is her son and your brother. She gave his custody to you" he said waiting for any reaction...
