I will again update with the speed of one chapter to two chapters a day and once I reached Chapter:30 I will update 3 to 4 chapters a day I promise. I wanted to complete this editing in one month after all.

Jeremy woke up earlier than he should have. It seems his sleepless night will continue on for how long he has no idea. Now he has time to think about what is happening in his life with a clear mind he shakes his head. A headache built up, what was he thinking?

Marrying her? Of all the people he agreed to marry her. He closed his eyes tightly.

His mother, Coltrane and Catherine, what he is supposed to do? What should he do?

The first thought popped in his mind that he cannot marry her but He said he will. Jeremy gulped going back on his words is not his thing but that will mean he legitly betrayed Coltrane not only that marrying her will only reopen his wounds. Wound, he is not sure if it is healed.

Jeremy might have loved her once but now he is uncertain about certain things that he held dear in his life. Does he have anything that he held dear? He does, his mother. Even though that woman will never believe him.First how he will convince his mother who would not even listen to a word he wanted to say.

In the past Jane had gone through betrayal. His father had an affair with a rich woman then married her while kicking him and his mother out. Jeremy has no recollection of his father, he does not remember clearly he was just a kid at that time but what his mother said was all he needed to know. He doesn't even know his father's surname.

Jeremy has seen his mother struggling with her life how much she did to bring him up, he can understand her side of the story but she needs to understand him too. He shook his head thinking that the past will not help his present.

Jeremy picks up his phone dialing his secretary, "I want you to make a marriage certificate with my and Catherine Walmart details" even though he has his doubts and contradictions about this whole contract marriage.

Jeremy sighed thinking about everything and decided he needed to let it go through with flow, but before anything else there is a question he wanted her to answer. A question he is dreading in to ask, since she said the baby is his.

Jeremy makes his way to the kitchen after freshening up and makes himself a cup of coffee.

"Good morning" he turned to look at Catherine. She was wearing a white long dress loose at her midsection up to her knees. This was one of the dresses she bought at the maternal store.

"Good morning" Jeremy greeted back pouring a glass of milk. He handed it to her. She silently took the glass without saying anything. They were silent as if they would break the serenity.

"I will take a bath then we will eat outside and go for the check up" Jeremy said making his way to the room she slept in. Taking out his clothes and rushing in.

Catherine was already awake for a while. She took a bath to relax her nerves but that did nothing to help her. The fact that she asked him to marry her. She bit her lips when he did not say a word about it. Her emotions are all over the place. Tears filled her eyes as she blinked her eyes to stop them from falling.

Jeremy got dressed and came out of the room.

They drive silently. He takes her to a cafe and eats breakfast. Catherine stares at him from time to time. He tried to avoid her gaze as much as possible. He was not sure what to do. Giving her false hope was the last thing he wanted to do.

They kept silent as the doctor checked her up.

"Mr. McGill and Ms. Walmart? " Jeremy nodded his head.

"Please this way" the nurse shows them to the cabin and takes her to change the dress.

"I am going to draw blood please stay till then" Catherine nodded her head.

"Are you both ready to see the baby?" Dr. Brown asked.

"I will wait outside" Jeremy walked out. Catherine looked down, his behavior hurt her a bit, she took a deep breath before continuing. The doctor did the ultrasonography, feeling the cold gel she flinched but seeing the baby, her heart flutter a bit and she for the second time in her life fall in love.

When Jeremy entered the room she already changed, feeling a bit dazed.

"Is she alright?" Jeremy asked Dr. Brown who is a middle aged lady.

"The baby is doing fine and has a strong heartbeat which is a good sign" Dr.Brown smiled at Catherine who smiled back.

"But the problem is you Catherine, you are not gaining weight as a woman in her first trimester should be not only that you have a low blood pressure. Eat properly" The doctor said before looking at him.

"I will just prepare a diet chart and a healthy environment is what she needs right now. Positive energy and a happy surrounding is important for the mother and the baby. Here are some prenatal care and vitamin medicines. Next check up will be in a month" The doctor gives them directions. Even suggested that they should go see a nutritionist and start walking with yoga classes. This will later on help her delivery.

Jeremy talked with Dr.Brown for a while after that they left.

"What will we do now?" Catherine asked him. She had to point out the elephant in the room.

The topic Jeremy was avoiding came out, he stared at her, "I don't know". He wanted to lie but lying is not his thing.

"Let's go to my office, then we will talk," Jeremy opened the car.

Catherine looked out putting her hand on her midsection softly caressing it. They reached his office building. She stared at the large building.

"Good morning sir" Jeremy e greeted back smiling at them, it's been a long time since he was here.

Catherine stares at him, this brings back memories, memories of the past. She smiled feeling proud of him. How much did he struggle to get here? How much did he sacrifice to be here? She was not there with him when he needed her the most now seeing him this way her heart ached and she felt ashamed of herself.

She gave up everything to make sure he was safe. Seeing him in this way makes her proud of him that he makes his words true. She remembers when she said those words.

She looked down after telling him her mother will never accept their relationship.

His finger clutch into fist, grabbing her shoulder pulling her closer breathing down on her neck, "I will work harder hard enough to prove everyone" he stares at her. She felt a tear roll down her cheeks.

"I believe in you" Jeremy looked down, his eyes flushed with unshaded tears as if he was grateful that she believed.

"Good morning, Sir" Jeremy entered the lobby, everyone greeted him warmly. Totally different from Coltrane's cold office.

"Good morning, Get back to work" He ordered them. They give her a curious look before going back to work.

Catherine was busy staring at the lobby that she did not notice the lift door and lost footing. Walking in the lift she staggered. Jeremy grabbed her hand pulling her closer to him, breathing down on her neck.

Catherine can feel her heartbeat as she looks up. He was holding her tightly. She was glad that they were alone. She was shaking, as the panic of what would have happened if she fell rushed through her. She buried her face in his chest. She sobbed clutching him closer. He picked her up in bridal style making his way towards his office.

Many staff stared at them but she kept her face in his chest.

"James the papers" Jeremy asked him.

"That's on your table sir," James said.

"Make sure no one disturbs me " Jeremy ordered him closing the door from inside he sat down still holding her in his arms.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Yes" Catherine nodded her head. He let her go. She takes a seat beside him on the couch calming down.

Silence prevails as they both don't know where to start from.

Jeremy sighed before opening his mouth, "I need to ask you something" he closed his eyes before staring at her. Catherine shifted on her seat feeling a bit confused.

"What?" She asked.

"How?" Jeremy cleared his throat

"How did this happen?"

Catherine blinked her eyes looking down, she knows asking him to marry her was a stupid idea. But she is the one who suggested, she can't back out now.

"Will you believe me?" She asked looking anywhere but his eyes.

"I will, I promise to believe you. I promise to accept anything so please tell me the truth" Jeremy said.

Her head snapped up her mouth hanging open. She swallowed harder. Revising history will be difficult. She does not want to remember that night, not even a bit though she did not regret anything. But, can she give him the truth he wants?

Past..

Catherine was standing in front of the mirror staring at herself, what have she done? tears falling freely. She accepted Coltrane's proposal. She rubbed her face trying to stop those tears from falling as sobbed wrecked through her body.

What will she do?

Pretending to love him and marrying him are two different things. She can't do that but she has no choice.

"Jeremy.." Catherine whispered his name wanting to see him. It's been 5 years since she last saw him in that heart broken state. Her heart ached with pain, he would not attend the party as he is busy. That's good right? She sits still at the same position.

Everything was a mess, why did she accept his proposal? She knows why the reason is standing right outside.

"Catherine, get the hell out of the bathroom and get ready" her mother yelled at her.

Catherine stands up, wiping her tears and mechanically getting up. She looked at the mirror straight in her eyes and smiled. She needed to perfect her blushing bride smile so that no one can tell how heart wrenching this is for her.

She is dressed in a peach knee length dress with a nude coloured high heel. Her hair tied side wise she wore a diamond necklace with a matching pair of earrings. But what weighed her down more than anything was the diamond ring in her finger.

Catherine took a deep breath and held her head high making her way out of the house than to the venue. Where the engagement party was held.

She felt someone holding her hand,"You are looking beautiful" Coltrane smiled at her.

Catherine blinked before returning his smile with her, "Well you are not so bad yourself" He rolled his eyes indicating her to hold his arms. She takes it gladly.

"I have a surprise for you," Coltrane whispered.

Catherine raised her eyebrows, "What kind of surprise?"

"Well, here we go," Coltrane grinned, pressing a kiss on her lips. She gave him a confused look as he removed his face from her face.

There he is. Her breath hitch she blinked her eyes, her face turned pale,'Did he see her kissing him?' She bit her lips and she should not feel guilty about it but something weighed on her stomach as if she cheated on him. Her knee buckled, she felt as if something was pulling her down on the floor, Coltrane held her pulling her closer.

"What happened?" He asked her. She shook her head.

"Nothing" Catherine smiled but her eyes stuck at Jeremy. His cold green eyes and that emotionless face. She gulped down feeling hard to breathe.

"Congratulations" Jeremy's voice devoid of any emotion. She felt tears, she blinked her eyes trying to force a smile whispering a thank you.

"Are you alright?" Coltrane asked her to hold her waist.

"Yeah" Catherine smiled as brightly as she could muster it up.

"Jeremy there is a beautiful woman who wants to meet you" Coltrane smirked at him while Jeremy shook his head.

"Wait for me" Coltranee whispered before letting her go, whisking Jeremy to the beautiful lady standing just behind them, what was her name again Salina.

Her heart breaks into million pieces. Catherine needs to stop thinking about him. It's not that Jeremy has any obligation to smile at some other lady, flirt with her, take her home and......

But nothing that sort of happened Jeremy only asked her to dance with him. By her she meant Salina and she smiled accepting it. Salina is extremely beautiful but she seems cold. A cold beauty.

Catherine was standing alone even though Cotrane came back after showing him the ropes.

"Why did you do that?" She did not want to sound like she was accusing him but she cannot help it. The words come out before she can stop herself.

"Salina was asking me to introduce her to Jeremy. So I asked Jeremy if he is still single. He said yes and I thought why not?" Coltrane smirked looking at them. She blinked her eyes, she felt happy for some reason, she smiled.

Her eyes stuck on them and her smile vanished again.

"Will you dance with me?" Coltrane asked her which did not register in her mind.

"Catherine?" He asked again.

"Yeah" Catherine smiled at him but this time her cheeks hurt and her heart bled. The ring felt heavier than ever.

"I need to tell you something," Coltrane said, twirling her around.

"What?" Catherine asked her eyes, wandering to them from time to time.

"I have a flight at 4 a.m. It's an important business meeting. I need to go there" Coltrane sighed.

"Then why did you arrange the party. We could have waited"

"I know but Mrs.Walmart insisted so I said yes" Coltrane said.

"It's alright," Catherine shook her head, smiling a bit.

They announced their engagement and she felt the same numbness spread across her body. Her mind went blank all the time. Jeremy smiled at Sallina and for some reason she cannot stop looking at them. They make a good couple and she bite her lips. Her inside burned with jealousy.

"We are going to the club after this. Are you going to come?" Coltrane asked Catherine.

"Don't you have a flight to catch?" She asked him.

"Yes but I will be directly driving to the airport from the club"

"If you are coming then I will ask my driver to drop you off," Coltrane said.

"I would love to come" She smiled, nodding her head. Coltrane grinned at her. She looked down shyly before smiling at him. This did not go unnoticed by Jeremy either.

Jeremy blinked his eyes as she was speaking and he remembered that time.

He looked away and concentrated his focus on the lady beside him who smiled at him. Her name is Salina Henderson.

"Will you come with us?" Jeremy asked her. Salina smiled at him,"Sure why not? I have nothing better to do"

"Well than the party ends here"

Slowly people leave the venue.

But Coltrane and Jeremy stayed till the end. Salina is talking to Jeremy and he has no problem, ignoring her.

The club which they chose was busy

Jeremy silently took a place in the bar. His eyes time to time looked at her. How happy they were?

He sighed, How could he look miserable at others happiness?How pathetic could he get? He gets drunk slowly and steadily. Drinks after drinks make him feel again.

Sallina leaned forwards kissing his ears, "Do you love her?" She asked. Jeremy blinked his eyes.

"How do you know?" He was almost shocked when she said that. He has the perfect cold face and a devil may care atitùde. He was professional in that area. His immediate answer should have been denial. But he knows this is not going to work, drinks after drinks keep his rational thinking at bay.

"I can tell by looking at people," Salina smirked.

"You might be a psychiatrist if I don't know better"Jeremy chuckled at her. Salina's eyes widened and she laughed.

"Well then let me join you" Salina lifted another glass cheering with his glass, she took a sip before seductively pouring her drink in his drink she gulped down in one go. He raised his eyebrows and drank it in one go.

But after a few more drinks he had no idea what was going on.

Jeremy blinked his eyes coming back from the memory lane and focused on her.

"I need to go," Coltrane said, pressing a kiss on her cheek.

"Best of luck" Catherine smiled at him.

"I will ask my driver to drop you," He said.

"No it's alright, I want to stay here. And I can Jeremy to drop me off"Catherine declined him.

"Alright" Coltrane nodded his head before walking out of the club. He needs to call Jeremy later on for rushing out like this.

Catherine stands still not knowing what to do? Even though she told him that she will ask Jeremy to drop her but she has no idea how to do so.

Catherine slowly walked to their table.

"What are you doing here?" Salina asked, raising her eyebrows. Then she noticed Coltrane missing. Jeremy did not notice her approaching as he was too busy drowning in his own world. After a while he looked straight at Salina,"You are beautiful".

Selling laughed, "I know" She moved forward pressing her lips against his, kissing him. Catherine looks at them, her heart tugging in her chest before breaking into million pieces. She felt tears stuck in her eyes. They were ignoring her.

"Stop this" Salina was surprised when she felt someone pushed her off him aggressively.

"He is too drunk to make a decision" Catherine put her between them.

"Who are you to decide?" Salina asked at first she was shocked now she smiled and her eyes sparkled as if she found a new toy.

"I... I am his friend" Catherine struggled to come up with a valid reason.

"He is an adult. He can take his decision" Salina smirked.

"He is gonna regret it" She glared at her.

"How do you know?" Her face turned pale at that question. Salina smirked at that.

"I... I.. We are going home" Catherine grabbed Jeremy's arm pulling him along with her. He was about to fall when she supported his body as he walked out.
