*********

Jeremy grabbed her cheeks forcing her to look in his eyes.

Catherine's eyes reflect hurt the same he is alway feeling from his waking moment to going to sleep.

His lips crashed down on her before he could stop himself. Catherine stilled her body froze. This might be the first time he kissed her willingly in his sense.

Jeremy sucked on her lower lip before biting on it hard enough for her to feel pain without bleeding. His tongue entered her mouth forcefully sucking and biting her tongue. Catherine struggled as the pain intensified. He was hurting her. Tears stung her eyes as she pushed him on the chest as hard as she could.

"Jeremy" Catherine yelled his name which broke his trace.

What hell is he doing? He sighed, pulling himself away from her.  Jeremy's eyes landed on her red lips here was a small cut guilty crunch his stomach.

"I... I am sorry" He extended his hand but she stepped back flinching away. His hands dropped.

Jeremy opened the door of his car seat.

"You hurt me," Catherine said, shaking  her head, getting away from him.

"I know," Jeremy said, closing his eyes.

"But what about the hurt I am feeling?" He gritted his teeth before punching the car's hood, "damn it". A sharp pain shoots through his hand, something that brings him a slight sense of relief.

Catherine's eyes widen in horror as his hands bleed.

But what shocked her the most about his words, She hurt him again. For god knows how many times?

"Jeremy please I will go away, don't hurt yourself" Catherine said as a tear trails down her eyes.

"Go away?" Jeremy snapped.

"Do you think going away will help?" He again slammed his hand on the car hood.

"At least it will hurt you less," Catherine whispered.

"You are just running away from your problems" Jeremy said coldly.

"You did too, Jeremy" Catherine flinched a bit at his tone.

"Shut up," Jeremy yelled.

"Just shut the fuck up" He punched again anything is better than the sharp pain his feel in his heart. His dead fucking heart ache from the same familiar pain he felt time to time to his life.

"Don't talk about something you have no idea" Jeremy grit his teeth, breathing out.

"Stop it" Catherine grabbed his hand before he hurt himself.

"Stop hurting yourself, please" She said as another tear rolled down her cheeks.

"This is the only thing that makes me feel alive" Jeremy held her hand which grabbed him before pushing her on the passenger seat. Catharine was too shocked to react as his words reached her. Jeremy locked the door.

"Jeremy?"  Catherine asked.

"As much as I hate you, You need to take care of your health" Jeremy said coldly switching on the car.

Another tear trails down her cheeks, his words hurt her.

Hate you?

"Then why are you taking care of me?" Catherine asked. Jeremy clenched his fist on the steer wheel without answering her question.

Even though he hates her, he is still taking care of her.

Catherine looked down her hand, her eyes widened in horror at the bloody fingerprint around her wrist.

"Jeremy, you need to treat your hand" Catherine said, gulping down painfully.

"I am fine," Jeremy said as he stared at the road.

Jeremy was going around before stopping in front of a restaurant. He opened the car waiting for her to get out. Catherine came out of trance.

"Why are you doing this?" She asked him.

"You need to eat something," Jeremy said looking away.

"I can take care of myself. You don't need to take care of someone you hate" Catherine turned to leave when he grabbed her hand a bit too tightly.

"Did you hear what the doctor said? You need to eat a healthy meal" he let her go.

"Jeremy" Catherine softened as he led her inside without touching her. She looked at him from time to time.

"What can I get for you? Sir" Catherine noticed the waitresses trying to flirt with him, he ignored her.

"Ask her," Jeremy said.

"Any health will be fine"  Catherine replied. The waitress give her a looking as if calling her dumb.

Jeremy sighed before ordering for her. She silently ate whatever he ordered which included healthy food. She didn't  feel nausea. It looks like the baby loves the food his or her  father chooses for them. Unconsciously she smiled.

Jeremy stared at her smiling face. His heart aches painfully, It's  been a long time since she smiled like this in front of him.

"Do you want ice cream?"Jeremy asked her knowing very well she loves ice cream.

Why is he trying to make her smile? The woman who turned his life upside down. The woman who destroyed his life. The woman for whom he lost his best friend.  Bitterness fills him away. Can he ever let go of this feeling?

Catherine looked at him, her eyes sparkled as she smiled at him, "Okay" she whispered, her cheeks flushed.

But for some reason he did not have the heart to break her heart.

"Waiter bill" Jeremy paid the bill. Catherine looked at him, her eyes filled with hurt. He looked away for a while.

"I will buy you ice cream" Jeremy was again going round and stopped in front of an ice cream car.

"So, which flavour do you want?" He asked, she looked at him confused then her eyes landed on the car, " Chico chips cookies" Catherine said without any resistance at all. Jeremy nodded his head, buying Choco chips cookies and a vanilla flavoured tube.

"Here you go" Jeremy opened the passenger seat and handed her choco chips cookies while putting the vanilla tube inside the mini freezer he had.

"Don't you want some?" Catherine asked. He shook his head, while returning to the driver seat.

He cleared his throat, "Where do you want me to drop you?" He asked her. She froze and stopped eating.

"Drop me to the nearest bus stop" Catherine said gulping down painfully, after spending time with him it felt almost natural that she forgot how limited time is.

"Do you know where you want to go? Do you have enough money?" Catherine gulped down painfully her mood to eat ice cream washed.

"Why are you asking me these questions? You hate me, Remember?" Catherine snapped at him.

"How about your house?" Jeremy asked.

"You know my mother more than enough don't you Jeremy" Catherine gritt her teeth as a painful memory flashed through her but she suppressed it.

Jeremy froze, stopping the car.

Don't do this Jeremy? Don't do this to yourself? Don't seal your faith. You will be the only one to get hurt. How many times do you need to get hurt before realizing she never loved you?

But he could not abandon her.

"Would you like to stay with me?" Jeremy asked. Catherine stared at him as her heart skipped a beat.

"You don't want to stay with me after what happened right?" He chuckled coldly.

"That is not true, Jeremy" Catherine gulped down. She felt safer with him even though he forcefully kissed her. She did not feel disgusted, hurt is the correct word. But he had the wrong idea.

"I will stay with you" Catherine  said out loud for him to hear.

Jeremy never thought she would accept his offer.

"I am staying at a hotel, " Jermey said.

"Okay" Catherine blinked her eyes.

"It has only one bed," Jeremy said.

Jeremy don't know what the fuck he is saying. Is he trying to make her say no?

"I am fine with that" Catherine whispered confused at his words.

"I can not only kiss you but do more than that" Jeremy said, almost threatening  her to say no. Now he knows what he is doing. His defense mechanism kicked, the mechanism which he used to keep people away from him.

'Man up' He yelled at himself.

'Don't forget that you are the one who asked her'

Cassandra visibly tensed clutching her hospital gown, "It's  okay. If it's  you It's okay"  She said unconsciously freezing herself in the process.

Jeremy heard it quite clearly. Biting his lips he drove the car to the nearest mall.

"What are we doing here?" Catherine asked.

"You need to buy something to wear" Jeremy said getting out of the car dragging her before she could protest.

**********

When they return back to the hotel it's almost night. Catherine was nervous, her hand clutching her new dress crumbling it a bit. She was visibly shaken after looking at the only bed in the room.

"Go take a shower and get changed," Jermey said.

Catherine did not wait for him to repeat, rushing inside the door.

Jeremy ordered room service for food. He puts down a box of cream if she wants to eat. He takes a seat on the couch closing his eyes.

Catherine came out after a while seeing him dozed off. He was sleeping with his head on the chair.

Catherine tiptoed towards him, slowly touching his cheek, the rough surface of his cheeks made her heart flutter. She hurriedly removed her hand, her cheek turned red.

That's when the bell rang, Jeremy blinked, opening his eyes, stifling a yawn. She opened the door as the room service entered with the food.

"You can start eating" Jeremy told her, it's already late she needs to take care of herself.

He lazily took a shower, he sighed as the day's event flashed through his eyes. What is he doing? Why did he ask her to stay with him? Has he lost his kind?

Jeremy closed his eyes as the water beat down on him but she needs a peaceful environment. If he can he wanted to at least provide her that for the time being. He ran his hand through his hair.

Jeremy wrapped the towel around his waist before getting out of the bathroom only to hear a gasp.

Catherine turned red. He ignored her and walked towards his backpack. Taking out a trouser and putting it on. He turned around to see her clutching her eyes close. His lips turned up.

"You can look" He rolled his eyes. She blushed furiously.

Jeremy sat down on the couch next to her and started eating. She sat silently beside him .

"Go to sleep," Jeremy said but she still sat there.

"You can take the bed, I will use the cough" He sighed.

Catherine turned towards him gapping at him, before mumbling a thank you and followed his advice. She settled herself on the bed looking at him for reassurance. He gives her a nod before going back to his task to eat.

Jeremy was sleeping peacefully  when a whimper of cries surrounded him. He opened his eyes to see her trashing.

"NO STOP" Catherine screamed. He hurried towards her. Shaking her shoulder.

"Don't touch my baby" She yelled.

Jeremy grabs the glass of water from the side of the lamp stand. He sprinkled some water on her.

"Catherine wake up" Jeremy said, shaking her a bit.

"Jeremy?" Catherine shakes a bit, wrapping her arms around him, tears of relief fall from her eyes.

"Yes, I am here" He wrapped his arms around her holding her in a correct position. He slowly drew a pattern on her back in a circular motion to calm her down. Tears fall from her continuously as she holds him as if he was her life source.

"Shhh, It's alright" Jeremy waited for her to calm down before softly settling her back on the bed.

"Don't go," Catherine pleaded, holding his hand. Jeremy sighed before getting back on the bed.

" I am here, calm down" Jeremy settled on the bed holding her close to him. Catherine sighed in relief feeling his warmth. He was waiting for her  to doze off, so that he could get out of the bed but the sleepless night was catching up to him as he dozed off too.

Catherine wakes up in a warm embrace, her heart fluttering feeling his arms around her. She looked up to see his face near her. She blushed, burying her face on his chest, only to feel his warm naked skin. She blinked her eyes, What?

Before she could react to her new found discovery, Jeremy wakes up hearing his phone ring. Groaning he mumbled curses, opening his eyes to adjust in the light. He felt a weight, this chest.

Catherine sat up and moved away.

Jeremy blinked his eyes grabbing his phone, He frowned at the caller id.

He picks up the call clearing his throat, "Hello, Mother" his voice comes off husky and a bit cold. Catherine did not understand why he was talking to his mother coldly.

"I heard you are here" the soft sweet voice flowed through the other side.Jeremy gulped down painfully, even though he just woke up his senses to alert him.

"Yes I am. What can I do for you?"  Jermey asked.

"You did not visit me for once"

"Sorry, I can't Mother. I am a bit busy" He sighed the last thing he wanted was to visit his mother now that he was in this mess.

"I am waiting near the gate. Come with you luggage now"

"Mother"

"Mother"

"Mother,listen to me"

"Mother" Jeremy yelled.

Catherine stared at him with wide eyes.

"Get ready. We need to hurry up" Jeremy sighed before packing his luggage as much he would want to ignore his mother but he could not.

Damn it

************

They checked out of the hotel. Jeremy stops in front of a small cafe for breakfast. She noticed he did not speak much.

"Should I be meeting your mother?" Catherine asked.

"I don't want you to meet my mom but I asked you to stay with me" Jeremy said loud and clear, she felt hurt.

Catherine looked away for a while, "You can drop me off near a bus stop" She said after what she did in the past. She has no right to complain.

"I am not going to abandon you. I don't go back on my words" Jeremy said, paying for the food.

Catherine sighed a tear trailed off of her eyes, 'Why are you so kind  when you hate me? Don't you know I am trying very hard not to fall for you even more than I already am?'

Jeremy stopped the car in front of a two storage building. Catharine looked at him who was clutching the steer when then at the gate to see a woman in her early fifties standing.

Jeremy got out of the car, "Mother" hugging the woman. Catherine silently got out of the car staring at them.

"I miss you so much Jeremy" His mother kissed his cheek. Jeremy nods his head before pulling her in a bridal style before putting her down on the living room cough. His mother laughed, patting his cheeks. Her eyes glossed with adoration looking at her son. Then it landed on her.

Catherine silently followed them trying not to disturb their reunion. His mother walked up to her touching her hand smiling kindly.

"Why are you standing there dear? Come sit" Catherine made her way to the couch.

"Are you going to introduce us?" His mother give Jeremy a pointed  look

"Mom, This is Catherine and we are friends," Jeremy said nonchalantly.

"Ignore him, by the way call me Jane sweety" Catherine nodded at her smiling.

They talked, laughed and shared various moments. Catherine felt more at home here, than her own house. Jane is kind and more motherly than her mother could ever be.

What stuck her most was the smile attached to Jeremy's face. Even though he acted so cold but now he is smiling.

From time to time her eyes wandered to him. Since yesterday she felt genuinely happy after a long time.

Catherine forgot how to smile and faking a smile became a habit. She perfected her fake smile which she uses everywhere but here she is sitting and listening to embarrassing stories and laughing. Even though Jeremy has not said anything about the baby but he brought a fresh bowl of fruits for her to eat. This did not go unnoticed by Jane nor the look she gave Jeremy.

"Why don't we eat it at lunch time?" Jane asked them. Before getting up to set the table for them to eat.

The smell of the food making her nausea, "Ba...bathroom"

Jeremy rushed her to the nearest bathroom, Jane looked at them shocked. She settled down on the cough far away from the dining table.

Jane softly touched her cheeks," You are pregnant" she smiled happily hugging Jeremy, "Congratulations son. So, when are you going to marry each other"

"Mother you got it wrong," Jeremy said looking at Catherine for confirmation only to see her eyes blazed with unwanted tears.

"Of course I know when a girl is pregnant when I see one. Don't forget I was pregnant with you young man" Jane scolded him before going back to nurture Catherine.

He glared at Catherine before blurting out," That's not what I mean and Mom I am not going to marry her..."

"What?" Jane cut him off before he could continue.

"What do you mean by that? She is pregnant with your child. You need to take responsibility for them" Jane glared at him.

"That's the problem, the baby is not mine. Why should I nurture another person's baby?" Jeremy snapped coldly,  he was at his end wits.

Catherine was shocked at the turn of events but his words brought her back with hurt and pain.

"Catherine, what is he saying? Is it true?" Jane asked her. She gulped down the lump forming at the base of the throat.

Does Jeremy expect her to lie? She can't lie not to her when she treats her like her own daughter.

"Jeremy...... Jeremy ... " she struggled to come out with a half truth when Jeremy gave a pleasing look. A look that pleaded her to not to lie.

But the fact is her truth is his lie.

Her throat dried up," He he..." she whispered trying to say something anything thing..

"Don't be afraid. Tell me the truth" Jane softly put her hand on her head. The soft motherly touch brings fresh tears in her eyes.

"If my son did something. I will make sure he takes responsibility" Janes eyes softened and she wiped her tears.

"It is not his fault," Catherine looked straight at Jeremy to let him know he will not lie.

"Jeremy is the father" She said clearly for him to hear.

"She is lying" Jeremy grit his teeth, glaring at her.

Jane sharply turned to him, slapping across his face. Catherine gasped at what happened.

"How dare you accuse her for that?" Jane yelled at him. Jeremy froze, this is not a new thing, his mother always believed what others said rather than what her own sin said.

"How could you do this to her, Jermey? How could you become like that man?"

"I did not raise you so that you could be that man" Jane stated coldly. Jeremy felt hurt more than the slap his mother's words hurt him.

"If you are any son of mine. You will do what is right?"

"Don't show me your face before" Jane turned her back on him.

Jane's eyes landed on the girl who seemed scared at what happened.

"Don't worry sweetie. Everything will be fine" Jane patted Catherine's head before walking away.

"Are you going to believe her over me?"Jeremy asked Jane coldly as a tear fell from his eyes. Years of hurt anger rush through him.

"Are you going to ignore me again?" He gritted his teeth.

"I told you, What I want, Jeremy," Jane said coldly, glaring at her son with something akin to hatred.

"You never asked me what I want" Jeremy said, hurt seeing that look on his mother.

"Jeremy if you did something you need to take responsibility. If you can't you are not welcome here" Jane said those last words before walking out of the hall, she slammed the door of her room.

Jeremy stands frozen in his spot. The urge to run behind his mother and knock on the door, pleasing her to listen to him, pleasing her to eat at least. But that won't happen, he knows if he tries to pursue her it will hurt him more. Slowly his hurt turns to anger, anger at the woman for whom his life takes this turn.

He shouldn't have come here, not with her at least.

Catherine does not know why but her heart hurts at what happened? She knows this is her fault. Tears trailed down her cheeks.

Catherine tried to say something or anything to Jeremy but she stopped as a shiver ran down her spine.

Jeremy glared at her with hatred, grabbing her hand tighter than before dragging her out. Catherine could feel pain. He slammed her against the car hood, "This is all your fault"  He yelled. Catherine flinched as he pressed his body on her.
