Past...
Cassandra returned back home after school. A cold feeling settled on her stomach as if something bad was going to happen, not that it already did. Catherine transferred to her class this is more than a disaster.
"So, here you are?" She flinched hearing the voice she least wanted to hear.
"Yes, what is it? Father " Cassandra asked standing stiffly.
"You will be transferred to another school," Mr. Walmart declared rather coldly. Her eyes widened. Cassandra knows this will happen then Why was she having difficulty in accepting that?
"Why?"She asked, staring at his father who looked away for a moment.
"You will be transferred from that school" Mr.Walmart glared at her for wasting his time repeating the same words without answering her.
"But, I don't want to," Cassandra said gritting her teeth averting her eyes.
"It doesn't matter what you want" Carson said coldly nodded at his mother.
"Grandma" tears stung her eyes as she looked at her Grandma.
"Carson..." Grandma said.
"No mother not this time" Cason said coldly.
"Why do I need to sacrifice because of your dear daughter?" Cassandra said looking down before taking a deep breath.
"Cassandra..." Carson warned her.
"I will not" She shook her head. She rushed behind him, keeping the bag on the couch of the hall.
"I refuse" Cassandra screamed behind him.
For the first time she found some place where she could belong. This is not something she wanted to give up and she will not.
"If you are going to be a brat then you could drop out" Carson paused to say this and make his way to the car. Catherine asked him that she wanted to be in the regular class. He wanted to fulfil her wish but that doesn't mean that his secret will be out in the open.
Even though Catherine pleads with her father not to do anything to Cassandra. He cannot fulfill her wish so he lied to Catherine.
The next day she went to school.
She noticed Jeremy and Coltrane share looks but she was not interested. Catherine was absent.
Cassandra sat there frozen, this was not supposed to happen. In one year everything changed. She wanted to stay here in this happy world. That class is her warm and safe haven.
Suffocation threatens her, she stands up and rushes out anywhere is fine. Cassandra blinked her eyes, tears filling in.
"I was wondering something?" Coltrane said from behind. Cassandra jumped, she had no idea that he filled her.
"What?" She asked, clearing her throat, wiping her eyes.
"Can you look at me when I am talking to you?" Coltrane asked her.
"What is it?" Cassandra snapped, turning toward him. He can see her red eyes.
"Did something happen?" He asked her seriously.
"Why would something happen?" Cassandra asked, chuckling, rolling her eyes.
Coltrane stared at her scrutinizing her, "You know you can tell me anything" he softly patted her head, her eyes widened. Cassandra averted her eyes, a pink tint flush her cheeks.
"It's nothing" She shook her head.
"Then why are you transferring?" He asked her. She gulped down, this was not something he should know than how? Not until she transferred out.
"I am having a problem with the class" Cassandra lied through her teeth. She was holding on her emotions.
"What problems?" Coltrane raised his eyebrows accusing her of lying.
"How do you know everything?" She asked glaring at him for prying in her matters.
"Catherine told Jeremy, she was crying and mumbling that it was her fault. She should not have transferred if she knows you will take the burnt of this" Coltrane said.
"But she is not in the class" Cassandra asked confused.
"She called Jeremy" He shrugged his shoulders.
She sighed, "that stupid idiot" she cursed under her breath.
"Oi, don't call an idiot" Coltrane snapped at her, "Because of her we know otherwise you will be gone by the time I get to know"
Cassandra sighed,"Nothing can be done"
"If I need to talk to Mr. Walmart, I will. I will not allow him to take you away from me" He smiled at her confidently.
Cassandra stares at him, her heart beat increases, "let's go" for the first time in her life she feels something akin to adoration.
"Flynn" Coltrane turned when she flung her hands around him hugging him unconsciously then awkwardly backed away.
Coltrane laughed at her awkwardness before hugging her tightly. Cassandra struggle, her face heating up, "let me go asshole"
"You are the idiot in here you know. All you need to do is tell me if you have any problem. I am always here to help you. So, stop worrying" Coltrane put his chin on her head.
"Hmm" Cassandra mumbles snuggling close to him.
**************
Present..
Cassandra blinked her eyes that was the time when she started falling for Coltrane.
She was sitting in his car stiffly. Silence prevails after Coltrane shut the door and started driving to god knows where. It was like a calm before the storm.
Cassandra looked outside trying to forget about his existence sitting right beside her.
Coltrane stopped the car in front of his house. They came back from where she ran away.
Cassandra glared at the house, opening her mouth to curse at him. But he didn't hear her. He grabbed her hand and pulled her out of his car.
Coltrane forcefully dragged her towards his room.He shut the door.
Cassandra stayed silent in the whole process, the worker gave them odd looks which she shrugged off.
The moment he shut the door, he pushed her. She almost fell but grabbed the bed to steady herself.
Coltrane grabbed the nearest flower vase through at the wall breaking it into pieces which did nothing to his anger. He threw her a deadly look.
Cassandra glared back. He suddenly grabbed her wrist pulling her closer, "Start speaking" he grit his teeth.
"I already did but you were not fond of it" she spayed struggling to get out of his hold. Her words only increase his anger as his hold tightens.
"I said start speaking," Coltrane yelled.
"I won't" She yelled back.
"You really think I will answer your questions. While you go back on your words?" Cassandra gritted her teeth averting her eyes. He gripped his finger digging on her hand, his nose touching her, "Answer me" he growled.
"I don't know," Cassandra yelled, her struggle increasing. She could feel her heart beat increase and nausea settled in her stomach. She took a deep breath trying to calm down. Is she having a panic attack?
"Let go of me" Cassandra wiggled in his hand when he did not let her go, tears stung her eyes.
"Please, let go of me" she pleaded. Coltrane felt shocked and his hand slacked. She takes the opportunity and rushes to the bathroom slamming the door.
Coltrane stared at the door waiting for her to come out. He hears the shower frowning before taking a seat on his bed.
After what seemed like twenty minutes, his patience ran out. He banged the door knocking and calling her, "Cassandra Cassandra CASSANDRA OPEN THE DAMN DOOR"
Coltrane grabbed the keys from the closet and opened the door and his blood ran cold. She was on the bathroom floor with a pale face with shower raining down on her.
Coltrane rushed to her, shaking her. He turned off the shower wrapping bathrobe. He put her inside the car. He felt a cold and he rushed from where he returned. He drove the car at full speed.
Coltrane can hear his heart beating loudly. He stopped the car in front of the clinic and hoisted her up in his arms. Cassandra felt much lighter than usual. It's only been two days since he saw her and their life is changing dramatically.
"Call a doctor," Coltrane yelled. Lisa's eyes widened as she looked at her in his arms.
"This way please" Lisa hurried to the nearest vacant room. Coltrane carefully put her on the bed covering her with a duvet.
Lisa called Austin.
Austin was resting on his cabin exhaustion with restlessness catching up to him faster than ever.
"Austin" Lisa opened the door without hesitating, immediately telling him about the problem.
Austin jumped up,rushing to her room.
"I need to check her, can you give us privacy?" He glared at Coltrane before shutting the door on his face.
Coltrane stood there at the hospital door glaring at the door for a whole minute before his thoughts wandered to Catherine who was already there. He sighed before urging himself to go to that room.
***********
Cassandra blinked her eyes, her focus blurred. She sat up her head pounding loudly.
"Are you alright?" She blinked looking at the man standing in front of her. It took awhile for her to recognize him, "Austin?"
He slowly nodded his head.
"What am I doing here?" Cassandra asked after seeing her surroundings.
"You fainted again, " Austin sighed.
She kept silent.
"Are you taking those medicines again? Cass" He asked glaring at her.
She still remained silent.
"Start speaking if you want me to keep silent" Austin snapped taking a seat in front of her. She gulped, "I did take those medication"
"Why?" He asked.
"I was not feeling well Austin" Cassandra looked away.He stared at her to continue.
"My headaches become severe to the point I faint and don't remember what happened before that" she told him as if she was speaking about someone else.
"These are the side effects of those medicines" Austin said sighing.
"When did you start taking those medicines?" He asked.
"Yesterday" Cassandra said. After a long time she was having difficulty in sleeping those medicines at least helps her to sleep. It must be because of the mess her life has become.
"I am sorry" She apologized.
"You need to go through a thorough check up. I am not discharging you" Cassandra pouted looking away from him.
Austin rolled his eyes, stopping himself from smiling.
"How did I get here?" Cassandra asked confused. The last thing she remembered was fainting in the bathroom.
"Mayor was here" Austun said before pushing her down and telling her to rest.
He got out to only meet a pair of worried eyes.
"How is she?" Lisa asked him.
"She needs a check up, make an appointment tomorrow." Austin ordered her then he noticed that the man himself was missing.
"Where is Mr.Mayor?" He asked.
"He left urgently with a man," Lisa told him.
Austin felt something akin to rage filled him. He just nodded his head before going back to his chamber. As angry as he is, he is too tired to do anything.
************
Jeremy stopped the car after making sure he was out of Catherine's sight. He slammed his hand on the driving wheel. Closing his eyes trying to control his breathing. His cellphone ring.
"What is it?" Jeremy growled at the caller. He was angry, annoyed, hurt and every negative emotion he could feel.
"Sir, Mr. Mayor is in his penthouse," Jason said and waited for a reply from his boss.
"Did you find anything about the number?" Jeremy asked.
"No sir, but I will back you back as soon as I get some information" Jason said, when he heard nothing he said a silent goodbye and cut the call.
Jeremy sits in his car silently thinking about the possibility of who is the owner of that number?
Jeremy sighed first thing first, he needs to stop his best friend from doing anything that will literally fuck his life up.
He closed his eyes taking a deep breath,"Ms.Walmart is pregnant"
Jeremy sighed again, those words will be his death sentence he punched his steering wheel.
He wanted to get away from this mess.
Jeremy started his car again making his way to the penthouse only to see Coltrane's car drive away.
He followed his car to see where Coltrane was going.
Jeremy saw Coltrane park his car in the driveway of the Clinic.
Coltrane opened the door and held an unconscious Cassandra before he rushed inside.
Jeremy locked his car and rushed behind them.
The doctor entered the room. Coltrane was about to make his way to Catherine's room where she stayed.
"Coltrane" Jeremy stopped him.
"What happened to Cassandra?" He asked coldly.
"I don't know if she fainted," Coltrane replied, matching his coldness.
Jeremy takes a deep breath trying to calm his nerves.
"I need to talk to you," He said.
"What is it?" Coltrane asked Jeremy.
"Let's get out of here" Coltrane nodded an okay before following Jeremy. Lisa stared at them but they ignored her.
"What do you want to talk about?" Coltrane asked.
Jeremy runs his finger through his hair, he has many things to say but he doesn't know where to start.
He opened his mouth to reply but was shut down by his cellphone.
"Sir, I have a lead on the number you have given it is near north city hall" Jason said.
"Whose number?" Jeremy asked, waiting for an answer.
"Cassandra Walmart" Jason replied.
"What now?" He said under his breath.
"Is she there?" Jeremy asked.
"Yes sir we have located her there" Coltrane stood beside Jeremy silently, he heard most of the conversation disbelieve shown on his face.
"Well good job" Jeremy cut the call, standing clueless when Coltrane asked him, "Why are you trying to find Cassandra? She is inside"
"This Cassandra is the one who admitted Catherine"
"What the fuck are you saying Jeremy?" Coltrane asked.
"Does it imply that Cassandra was behind Catherine's disappearance and everything indicates that" Coltrane grit his teeth as anger flashes through him.
"Not only that She herself admitted.." Jeremy cut him off before he got to that conclusion again.
"No! We are missing something important, Coltrane"
"Cassandra could not do that. There must be some kind of misunderstanding" Jeremy said unsure of what he is saying himself.
"I need to go to the north city hall and clear this misunderstanding because you know that Cassandra would never do something like this even in the name of revenge" Jeremy glares at him before getting inside his car.
"Do you really think another Cassandra will pop out of nowhere and the problem will be solved?" Coltrane said coldly, glaring back at him.
"I don't have time for this" Coltrane shook his head and got in his car ready to drive away, almost forgetting the woman he admitted.
"Cassandra.." Jeremy tried to tell Coltrane but he was already gone.
Jeremy shook his head and started his car. He directly went towards the north city hall searching the area. He tracts the GPS system to get the location.
Jeremy looked at the tall hotel building in front them.
"What will you do if this is fake and Cassandra is actually doing this?" Jeremy asked himself rubbing his face. He needs to believe that Cassandra cannot do this, but why there is a but lingering at the back of his head.
As much as he wanted this to be solved but what will he do if what Coltrane becomes reality.
No Jeremy shook his head. He needs to do this for Cassandra. The possibility of what Coltrane said cannot be true.
What if it's true then what? How will he stop Coltrane from doing something to Cassandra?
Jeremy made his way to the reception hall. This is one of the hotels he worked with its owner before. He knows it pretty well.
The receptionist looked at Jeremy with wide eyes and she hurried over to him. "How can I help you sir?"
"Is there anyone with the name of Cassandra Walmart staying here?" Jeremy stared at the reception hall.
She checked up, "Yes sir room no. 206".
He did not waste any more time rushing to 206. He got on the private lift.
They reached the room, Jeremy didn't waste anymore time and knocked on the door. After a while the door opened. He was stunned to see her.
Jeremy froze; his posture straight up. He didn't want to know what's going on anymore. He needs to get out of here and find Catherine. Is this why she didn't want to go home? The lady broke the silence, "How can I help you?"
"Mrs.Walmart? What are you doing here?" He asked suppressing his feelings.
The woman blinked her eyes, her face held a kind smile almost unmatching her usually stoic face. She laughed softly and shook her head even though her eyes held unmatched pain.
Jeremy froze, Is this some kind of sick twisted prank?
He was waiting to hear something horrible but were shocked at her open display of emotions, "You are mistaken"
He blinked, Yes he wanted to reply.
Coming here was the biggest mistake of his life, but her next words stopped his overthinking.
"I am Ms.Walmart" The woman smiled and invited him in.
