~Chapter twenty two~
Nobody is superior,
Nobody is inferior,
But nobody is equal either.
People are simply unique, incomparable.
You are you and I am I.

~Lucy's POV
We landed on the ground and in front of us was the temple. It looked really small from the outside. Both Natsu and I could feel it, there were different kinds of magic in there.
Natsu grabbed a branch from a dried out tree that used to be here and ignited it. He handed it to me. "Let's go," he said.
We slowly pushed the door open. We set our first step. "Be careful. According to the book there are nine traps, or obstacles or whatever," I told him.
The temple looked way bigger inside.
I walked further but I didn't see the tiny hole in the ground and my next step went in that hole. So I fell. I heard Natsu snicker behind me.
He put out his hand for me to grab. "Be careful," he mocked me.
I shot him an annoyed look but accepted the hand. Suddenly we heard something behind us. We swiftly turned around, the door was closing.
Suddenly the light became way weaker. The torches around us suddenly lifted on fire. I can't say I didn't flinch.
I was a little afraid...
Natsu grabbed my hand assuringly. "Come on."
Suddenly there was a large piece of paper hanging in the air with the number nine on it.
"Brave yourself, obstacle one comes. Or nine, whatever you want to call it."
We walked into the tiny hallways, high on guard. But nothing happened.
Suddenly I heard a sound coming from under Natsu's foot. He looked down and he had pressed the squared tile.
We looked around and tiny holes made its way out of the wall
"Watch out!" Natsu screamed and grabbed my hand. He jumped forward, just in time before arrows came out of the wall, shooting on the place we stood.
We fell on the ground. I looked back and saw the arrows eating the wall. Not really, but they were covered in poison, strong enough to digest the wall.
I smacked his head. "You almost got us killed, baka," I shouted. I wasn't serious though. Even though he caused it, he saved me.
"Shush. But now we know obstacle 1; Floor trap."
That is how you call it? Really?
"Man, I wish Happy was here," he mumbled. I looked at him, me too, buddy, me too.
"But we must go further. How do we know which tile is a trap?" I asked. We looked in front of us, it was a squared floor. Luckily we stood on something that wasn't similar.
So we were safe... for now.
Natsu grabbed a stone and threw it. He threw it at the right piece of floor and arrows were shot there.
"Uhh... I don't think we have to be afraid of which one it is."
I raised my eyebrow. "How come?"
"The floor in front of us are all a trap, meaning every piece will make an arrow come," he explained.
I'm still wondering how he figured that out, but didn't doubt him at all.
I stood up and picked my Virgo's key. "Then let's dig a hole," I spoke.
He stopped me from continuing by grabbing my arm. "Don't."
I looked at him surprised. He was acting so protective of me. "Why?" I asked out loud.
He just ignited his hands and punched the ground. I was in shock before I could make out what happened. When the smoke cleared I saw no hole. Not even a scratch on the floor.
"Because it is impossible."
Then I grabbed my other key. "Open! Gate of the Ram, Aries."
I know where I could use her power for. Suddenly Natsu looked like a starstruck child while clapping his hands together. "Oh, good thinking, Luce!"
"Hey, Aries. Can you make the wool cover the wall?"
She nodded. "I'm sorry!" she squeaked.
"Wool wall!" she screamed and fluffy pink wool appeared.
"Good!" Natsu said. "I'm sorry!"
Natsu looked sadly at her, knowing why she says sorry all the time.
He grabbed my hand and Aries disappeared again. We sprinted forward, feeling the floor tiles being pressed. The arrows became stuck in Aries's magic.
We stopped when we saw number eight. This time it wasn't hidden. The trap was very clear.
Fire floor and at the end fire wall.
Natsu smirked and immediately began slurping it. But the fire stayed there. He frowned, although looking half satisfied with the way he rubbed his stomach.
Without a word he lifted me up so I had my legs around his waist. "Let's go!" he screamed while running forward.
Soon we became by the wall. "Can you resist fire?" Natsu asked.
"What the heck do you think? No," I yelled.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!"
Then he made a hole in the fire and without a second wasting he jumped through it. "That was easy," I said as I saw the third sign.
Then I remembered something and tapped Natsu on his shoulder. "I really want your Star Dress! That would be so cool."
His eyes glinstered. "Totally!" he grinned.
Then we went back on focusing again.
One step in the hall and daggers from the distance were aimed at us. Natsu just punched and kicked it away while I was dodging for my life.
"These traps are weak," Natsu mumbled, loud enough for me to hear. Then suddenly more weapons came toward our direction.
Suddenly a sword came flashing pass my cheek, cutting it open. As reflex my hand immediately went there. Then two swords came in cut my arm. Luckily they were all lightly.
"Open! Gate of the Giant Crab, Cancer!" I yelled and he appeared in front of me, letting no sword hit me again.
Natsu looked at me while he saw me taking out my whip. "Did you get hurt?" he asked breathily.
I shook my head. "Just some tiny scratches, don't worry."
Suddenly the air became hot.
Very hot.
I looked at Natsu and saw that he was dead serious. And furious.
For me? That couldn't be it, right? These were just some tiny scratches, nothing serious.
The swords didn't even stand a chance, they melted immediately when they came in sight.
My clothes too. "Hey Natsu, calm it down a little bit." I had to cover my chest with my arms.
"Cancer, run forward," Natsu and I both said at the same time.
Natsu had his hand clenched and walked to the end. Eventually I made it there. The swords disappeared and so did the heat.
I smacked his shoulder. "What was that for? I said not to worry, I'm fine."
He gave me a harsh glare. "Just shut up."
I gave him a disbelieving look. He's so nice sometimes and then he suddenly switched to moody and angry.
"Sorry," I mumbled, though I didn't know what I am apologizing for.
We walked through obstacle seven as if it was normal. I was far more concerned about Natsu. I didn't even know what the trap was about.
But I felt some more scratches on my arms ,and without noticing we arrived at the sixth obstacle.
"Natsu," I called out. No response. What did I say wrong?
"Natsu," I said while I felt some plants capturing my feet.
He didn't even look my way.
Wow, rejection hurts.
"Natsu!" I screamed when my limbs were captured.
He turned around. His eyes widened. "Lucy," he said while running to me.
I was thrown to the wall by the plants. I coughed. I moved my head to see where Natsu was.
He was burning those plants.
Then he came to me. "You idiot. Why didn't you look where you walked?"
I felt my blood boiling. He doesn't get to be lkssed while he was ignoring me. I know not everything is about me, but come on.
"I was busy trying to get your attention," I shouted at him. He was taken aback by that, his expression clearly changing from confused to worried to dumbstruck.
"What did I say? What did I do wrong in the third obstacle? Why did you suddenly ignore me?" My voice was raising by every second and I didn't even know why I was acting like a bitch.
Natsu clenched his hands, his bangs covering his eyes. "I helped you. I was angry because you got hurt—"
"I said I was fine," I interrupted.
He raised his index finger for me to be silence. "Whatever. You don't get the point," he said and walked away.
I stood up, holding my arm while running to him. "Then what was the point?" I was determined to get an answer.
He stopped and I stared at his back. "The point was that everything I do, is for you. I was angry because the swords laid a scratch on you. I did it because I was angry at them for hurting you. Why the fuck don't you understand that?"
I stared at him. Understanding finally going through me.
He really did it for me.
A smile broke to my face. I walked to him and ruffled his hair. "You goofball. Why didn't you say so?" I partially said that to lighten the mood.
He scoffed. "You didn't listen."
I clicked my tongue. "... True."
"Are we okay?" I asked softly. I rather have Natsu fooling around.
Natsu shrugged his shoulders. "I guess."
I grabbed his hand, "Thank you." No explanation, just thank you. That seemed fit now.
His grin tucked upwards and a grin spread over his face.
"Okay, but now we have to get serious," he said.
I looked in front of me. I gasped, there were monsters in front of us. Sort of the same monsters at the Grand Magic Games who were defeated by Erza.
"You won't come any further," an echo said.
