~Chapter twenty eight~

I really can't write.. I don't know if I should like how my chapters are turning out or not. And I really hate to write on laptop or ipad, but I have no other choice.\

Question: How do you guys say either?

Like ee-ther

or i-ther ( the i from ice)

~Lucy's POV

"Lushee, wake up," Happy said while shaking me. I groaned and brushed off his hands. "Leave me alone, it's too early."

"It's 1:00 pm," Happy deadpans. I hummed. "See? Early."

I heard a chuckle coming from somewhere away of the bed. I still didn't bother opening my eyes though. "Happy, just come, Luce will wake up when she wants to." The voice obviously belonged to Natsu.

"Where are you going?" I asked. I opened my eyes and rubbed my eyes, trying to get the sleepiness away. Then I remembered yesterday and blushed. Natsu and I shared a bed...

Wait...

Why again?

Oh, right. He wanted to be a human.

HE WANTED TO BE A HUMAN!! He looked so sad yesterday night, and I prejudiced him. Natsu saw me and smiled softly. He mumbled an 'it's okay.'

"We're going to the market, looking around and whatever," Happy said and flew around, searching for something.

I yawned, still tired. "You guys hungry?"

They nodded. Why did I even bother asking? They abuse the fridge every single day. I made them leave the room so I could change. Five minutes later I made Natsu lunch and prepared fish for Happy.

"Can I go with you guys? I heard you could buy some beautiful stuff," I broke the silence. Natsu grabbed his plate and shoved everything inside his mouth. He wiped away the restants with his arm.

I threw him some napkins, frowning at his manners. Who taught him that in the first place? I think Igneel didn't bother teaching him that in the slightest.

"Sure. You can buy some beautiful stuff there," Happy said. He made it sound like a question though.

We were walking through the town, stalls being set up. Natsu and Happy were excited about everything, especially the food they sold. They were walking ahead of me, pointing once in a while to somewhere. I just could hear the excitement of both of them and see the big smile on Natsu's face.

Way different than yesterday.

I clenched my hand. I thought about all of this... and the opportunities. Natsu was a human once, then Mustache Man made him a spirit... so what if Natsu would go back to being human again.

He didn't live anymore until he changed to a spirit, so will he die once he changed back?

I frowned at the thought. I don't want him dead.

"Why the frown, Luce," Natsu asked me, walking beside me with his arms behind his head. Happy was still ahead of us.

"Won't you be dead if you went human again?" I blurted out. I face palmed and slapped myself inwardly. I didn't mean to say it outl loud.

Stupid, stupid, stupid mind.

Natsu looked at the sky, not a cloud to be seen. His smile was sad. "I thought about the odds, and it could be. As a human I died, but I 'revived' as a spirit. So I say the chances are big I would die again."

I stopped in my tracks. "And you will give up everything to be human again? Even your life?" I exclaimed. What's the point then?

In my eye corners I saw Happy stop flying forward. He turned around with a dumbfounded face.

Natsu looked away from my face, not answering it. But remember, no answer is an answer.

I gaped at him. "You are prepared to die to be human again. What's the point in that? You were granted a new life, you still got your memories and everything. But still you want to die to become the one thing you want."

Happy flew over here but we didn't care. We didn't care we stood in the middle of the street. Natsu gritted his teeth. "I don't deserve to live in the first place. Am I happy I'm alive? Yes. But to be a spirit everyone hates? N--"

"Who hates you? Come on, we both know you found a family who cares about you? What about Fairy Tail? What about Happy? What about me?"

"True, I found people who care about me. But you don't know how I feel."

I grabbed his hands tightly. "Then help me understand," I demanded. What happened to the Natsu I know?

On missions he wasn't like this. He wasn't like this at all.

Happy opened his mouth but closed it right away. He was trying to figure out what is happening.

"It isn't fair I get to live again while my whole family and all of my old friends are dead. I miss them! I want to be with them! I prefer death and being with them than having only one person who cares about me, that isn't enough."

I drew his arms to be and then pushed him hard back. Tears were already leaving my eyes and I hate it.

He saw my tears. "Lucy... I didn't mean to...God damn it, I can't do anything good." He kicked the house next to him. "Fuck!" he hissed.

"How can you be so selfish? Open your damn eyes, Natsu. You are not alone. There is no way I'm letting you die. I care about you way too much. After all those missions, experiences and the fun we had, you still think about that? About the ones you lost? I hate to break it to you, but they're dead. They won't return."

FUCK FUCK FUCK!! WHY DID I SAY THAT?

Natsu's sad faced turned into a furious one. "I bet you still think about your late mother. Get lost if you don't want to help me."

Happy grabbed our collars and flew us to a more quiet place. Somewhere in the woods.

We ignored him, this was between us.

Why do we fight so much lately? I hate it when we do, but I can't seem to stop.

"Who are you calling selfish?" he snarled.

I placed one of my hands on my chest. "Well I'm sorry I don't want you to die because I care for you."

"You don't know if I'm going to die," he shouted exaggeratedly.

"And I don't want to find out!"

His breathing was loud. He tried to calm himself down, but he failed.

"Break it," he said.

Now my breathing became heavy. Please, please say he doesn't mean what I think he meant.

"W-what?"

He sighed. "Break the contract and let me go."

"No."

"No?" he asked surprised. "All we do is fight lately and I don't want to hurt you anymore than I already do."

"Are you stupid?" I said. He opened his mouth and closed it again. "All friends fight sometimes, the one more than the other but in the end we still love each other. Don't you realize that I will be more hurt when you leave?"

He looked away shamefully. He didn't think this through at all. I don't even know where this fight is all about.

"It doesn't matter, I bring you tears lately, and it pains me to see it."

"Can a spirit vanish?" he suddenly piped up.

My heart shattered. I was too lost for any words to say. I immediately thought about the moment Loki almost vanished. I don't want it to happen again.

"No," I lied.

He say through it. "Lair, your face tells something different. I made up my mind. Either I'm becoming human or--"

I cut him off for the second time. "Like hell I'm going to break the contract." I clenched my hand. Natsu won't change his damn mind about this and it makes me mad that he doesn't even consider it.

"Fine then," I sissed, "I will help you, not because I'm not afraid of the chance, but because I need to be your friend now."

"You promise?" Natsu asked lowly.

I sighed. Natsu could see the hesitation in my eyes. "Yes, if you promise not to die, no matter what."

"I'm not dying easily."

Suddenly Loki appeared and grabbed my arm. "There is no way the Spirit King will break the bond that made Natsu a spirit."

"How do you know?" Natsu asked, already annoyed at his presence. "The king ordered me to come and get in through your thick skull."

"And why the hell not?" I asked. Natsu made a point yesterday. He did rob Natsu's humanity.

Loki turned to me. "Haven't you noticed that Natsu is dangerous? The monster you see every Sunday isn't just because he is a spirit. He had that kind of power inside of him as a human, and he is scared it will take over his body once he becomes human again."

I yanked my arm away from his grip. "The monster you referrer to doesn't exist. He is still Natsu and will always stay that way."

Loki groaned in irritation. "He is a fucking monster, he went loose one time and destroyed everything."

I glared at Loki.

"Even if the Celestial King doesn't want it, I will search for every possibility to do it! Even if I have to break every single rule of him. I promised Natsu and us celestial mages keep them."

A blinded light appeared in front of us, giving me a nostalgic feeling.

Don't tell me... It's happening once again.

"Celestial Spirit King," Natsu breathed out, surprised at his presence.

"Hello, old friends," mustache man said. "It's sad it has to come this far, but I will personally tell you I will not break the bond."

"Just because you are afraid," I stated.

Loki cussed under his breath, walking back where Natsu stood. I heard their whispers to each other. "You idiot."

"I made him so, so I could watch over him. So he won't become one of the most powerful creatures and lose his heart."

"You don't understand! It's either that or he finds a way to get to where his dead friends are."

He looked sympathetically at me, but I believe none of it. "I know what you feel, but I won't make him human again. He must understand he is a threat once he loses it. This way I can make sure he won't."

I gritted my teeth. "You took his humanity! And I believe Natsu won't become the monster you think of. I don't think he will change at all."

I looked around, annoyed. "Natsu, this is your damn wish. Try convincing him, I won't do all the work."

Natsu nodded and turned to the spirit king. "Yo old man, change me into a human again."

I cringed at his effortless try. Yeah, Natsu. That would totally work.

"Okay," mustache man said.

I turned to him shocked and confused. Natsu's face broke into a hopeful smile. "Really?"

Mustache man crossed his arms and chuckled. "Of course not, idiot. How gullible."

A tick mark came on Natsu's forehead and he walked forward. "You asshole. Change me into a human again. I will repay you, just say what you want."

I grabbed Natsu's ear, making him hiss. "You're seriously bribing him?"

"I could always try."

"I want something."
