~Chapter thirty nine~
The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DG= dark guilds, in case you got confused.
~Lucy's POV
I held my head down as I walked next to Mira, Juvia, Wendy, and Jellal. I don't know where Jellal came from, and I don't care to ask either. But he had the uniform of Mystogan on. We were walking in the directions to our sky box for the arena. At least I think you call it that. The games DG began and now we were walking towards it. I could feel every stranger's eyes on us. As expected we were the only not dark guild and it made me nervous.
The arena was just like the one of the real GMG, but this one was black.
I saw someone pushing Wendy when I looked up. She fell on her butt as she glared at the person in front of her. If Wendy glares, it must be serious.
"What are you guys doing here?" the one who pushed Wendy said.
"We're participating," I said, snarling at him. Mira helped Wendy up as I felt everyone in the single hallway stop.
In my eye corners I saw a guy smirk. Truth be told, he's hot, with his brown hair and black eyes. He had the whole badass persona, pushing himself off the wall.
"They?" the pusher said in disbelief, and he looked at the smirking guy.
"Yup, they are, Harry," smirking guy said. He came to stand next to him. They had to be in the same guild.
"Do you think they stand a chance, Micheal?"
Jellal snorted, without a doubt feeling their magic power. It wasn't high.
"We'll see." He stepped forward and grabbed strands of my hair. "What do you think, Lucy Heartfilia? Do you think you got a chance?"
There is a difference with being confidence and being cocky. He's just being cocky.
I stepped back and slapped his hand away, glaring at him. Everybody here knows are name already, apparently. "You got something backing you up?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Of course, sweetheart."
I gagged, eyeing him disgustingly. I stepped next to my friends, who were all tense.
"If I were you, I would leave us the hell alone," Mira said, stepping forward while brushing my shoulder.
"Ah, the she-devil of the guild," Harry said. "Surprised they accepted a devil like you," he taunted.
Mira was clearly ready to commit a murder.
Suddenly Laxus was above Harry, who was pushed to the ground. "How dare you speak to her like that," Laxus whispered angrily.
Natsu pushed Micheal away while swinging an arm around my waist. "Just go to your little guild," Natsu said, scowling. "We will see who's the best."
Micheal and Harry scowled and turned around, walking away.
Immediately I felt the stranger's eyes leaving us. "You guys are late," Laxus said, eyeing every one of us.
"Erza is already going against someone," Natsu explained, dragging everyone forward. "She's beating the crap out of him. Really. This is the best the dark guild could offer?"
We went to the sky box. The participants with the replacements in case needed was next to the rest of the guild.
Erza had a dark look on her face. The whole audience booed as she was called out to be the winner.
We cheered for her. She came back as Natsu and Gray held up their hands. She high fived them both.
Gray and Natsu laughed, boxing each other. For one second Natsu's gaze captured mine and he grinned widely. I blushed, knowing that grin was for me alone.
We watched as other guild went against each other, analyzing their skills the best we could. Some are a handful.
Suddenly the sky box where we stood broke down. The one next to us, too. Who did it? My heart sped up, and I sucked in a breath. We fell down and landed on the ground, the same height as where two people were fighting. What the hell?!
I whipped my head around, all those shady bastards smirking. Even the fighters had a damn smirk on their face. I heard someome hissing in pain and looked around. Nobody was really wounded from the fall, but I saw some scratches here and there. I dusted off my skirt slowly.
"What the fucking hell?" Natsu roared loudly, causing everyone in the arena to stop what they're doing. "How is it fucking allowed that you can try to sabotage another guild?"
Micheal, above in a skybox scoffed at us. "It's not, in contrary to what you may believe, we know how to play fair against each other. Against dark guilds, that is." Behind him came a man and I immediately recognized him. It's the man on the street yesterday, the one Natsu said I'm going to win against him. Looks like he's participating.
"We would gladly make an exception for you guys though," Harry said. The whole audience laughed and chorused of agreement went in the air.
Natsu's hand burst out in flames as he looked ready to burn this whole place. Gajeel placed a hand on Natsu's shoulder to calm him down. "We could play dirty, too," he called out.
"Then you would be disqualified," the referee said.
Oh you have got to be kidding me? So we should take their tricks while we just sit here? I turned to Makarov who seemed deep in thought. "You still think this was a good idea?" I asked.
He shook his head and sighed. "Maybe it was a mistake. But we are already in the game. If we leave they'll look down on us." True, if we leave it will seem as we gave up.
Suddenly I saw a shadow above me, and I looked up. Everyone did. A huge ball of magic came towards us. Oh, they really want to sabotage us, huh? I grabbed my keys, ready to summon someone. Everyone went to stand ready. We're not running away, no way.
Natsu suddenly jumped up, in the direction of the ball. His fist was ignited and his eyebrows drawled together. "This is nothing." Slowly, a smirk formed on his face. He punched the magic and it immediately shattered across the air,
I clicked my tongue, they were playing with us.
My eyes widened as the fire Natsu used was going straight toward the audience. Natsu went too far, again! Natsu destroyed a tiny piece of the arena.
The referee blew his whistle and pointed at Natsu, "Disqualified!"
"What?!" Gray yelled, glaring at him. "You can't do that!"
Natsu clenched his hands. "Like hell I am! I was defending my friends, I didn't sabotage a single one of you."
"It stands in the rulebook. If you destroy a piece of the arena, you're disqualified. One exception; and that's when you're in a fight."
He was fighting the trolls who wanted to mess with us, idiot, I wanted to say out loud but shut myself.
I bet if one of the DG did that with us, they wouldn't be disqualified. Hypocrites. I bet the rule doesn't even exist, they probably want Natsu not participating, 'cause he is a strong opponent. All pathetic guys.
Our friends disagreed with the referee and we clearly showed it to him by yelling at him. The referee blew three times and the whole arena went silent.
"If you don't choose a new participant, your whole guild is disqualified."
Natsu growled, a vein popping on his forehead. "Just wait you motherfucker," he threatened lowly. It wasn't meant to be heard by him, and he didn't.
"I'll go," Jellal said, stepping forward.
Amusement danced in Natsu and Erza's eyes. Natsu threw his head back and laughed. "No way. My replacement is Lucy."
A lump appeared in my throat as I choked. "Excuse me?" I'm the weakest of the whole reserve group.
Natsu gave me a smirk. "Jellal is Erza's, Juvia is Gray's, Mira is Laxus's, Wendy is Gajeel's... You're mine."
I could see surrender in Jellal's eyes as he backed down. He probably thinks they, the real members, have to decide, seeing he isn't even a member. Jellal was always reserved and calm, unless you mess with Erza.
I hesitated, looking around. The eyes were already back on the next fight. Natsu stepped forward and grabbed my hands. He looked me deadly in the eyes. "Do it. Prove your worth. You're mocked so much, why not earn their respect?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" I don't need to prove anything. Especially not to the guys who mocked me. If beating someone means earning their respect, then it isn't even worth having.
Natsu was a little confused about my outburst but caught on quickly. "I didn't mean it like that. Just replace me."
"You're irreplacable," I blurted out in a whisper. It hadn't meant to come out here. And it clearly isn't the right time as the whole guild expect an answer from me.
Natsu's eyes smiled at me, and he grabbed the back of my head with one hand. He brought my head forward and gave me his famous forehead kiss. I thought Natsu does that to every girl close to him, but I was so wrong. I was the only one who got this kind of affection from him.
And I loved it.
"You are, too."
I heard someone fake cough and we looked to the side, seeing my friends staring at us. "An answer, please. You're replacing him or what?" Gajeel asked bluntly. I saw Mira smacking his back head with a disappointed look.
"Look what you've done, idiot. Nalu moment is ruined. God damn you."
"Just do it," Natsu whispered again, grabbing my hands secure. "Show everyone how strong my girlfriend is." My face flushed at the label. I don't think I will get used to it.
"B-but—" This damn beautiful bastard didn't even let me finish.
"For me?" he asked hopeful. When he gave me his puppy eyes I really couldn't resist him.
"Fine..."
Why can't I resist him, goddamnit!"
I turned serious and stood next to my new team. Our goal is giving them a warning... or a threat. It's how you look at is. If they mess with us, they should know what's coming.
Natsu trusted me with his place, and I'd be damned if I let him down.

I plan on putting something in the next chapter that I wanted to do since forever! 10 points to the person who guessed it right before I post a new chapter. Will probably be in a week. No promises tho.
