~Chapter 7~Friends?~
~Elizabeth's Pov~
We all headed back to the Boar Hat to where Merlin dragged me off to her room on the top floor of the tavern. She made me sit on a wooden stall as she was going through a spell book. It was quiet as I was able to hear the others on the bottom floor. "THIRD PRINCESS OF LIONES?" it was mostly Ban's and King's voices that were shouting. Meliodas knew who I was. He had been looking for me to save my father. It made no sense. Why would the knights lie saying these people were threatening my father?
"The Captain is good friends with King Bartra. It was thanks to him that your father was able to become a good King" Merlin soon informed me making me look at her. Her eyes in the spell book in her hands. Meliodas and my father were friends? I was slightly scared and worried about my father. "Has this insurance spell been used on you before Elizabeth?" Merlin soon asked finally looking away from her spell book and now looking at me. I only nodded as she walked over looking right at me.
"Have you seen this marking before?" Merlin asked showing me the page of the spell book. The mark was the symbol for a monster known in Liones. "Yes. Many times, they tried burning that mark on me long ago" I whispered as Merlin looked in some shock before making the spell book float in the air. She crossed her arms looking as if she wanted to say something. I was quiet not wanting to upset her. "You can see people's auras can't you?" Merlin then asked as I looked at her confused.
She only sighed. "You can tell one's power levels along with their race by just looking toward them. It was why you wasn't shock learning about our races before" Merlin soon spoke as I nodded understanding what she meant. She soon looked at Aldan in thought. I was slightly scared and worried about the marking. What it meant. "Where did they try burning the mark?" Merlin soon asked. I pointed to the back of my right shoulder as Merlin asked me to take off my top so she could have a look.
I had no choice but to listen if I was to get any help. I did what I was told as Merlin stood behind me. "The burn was placing a spell into your skin. The burn itself doesn't show but the spell has been inside you for a very long time" Merlin soon explained as she put her hands on the back of my right shoulder. She was muttering something under her breath. Aldan floating in front of me as the crystal orb looked and felt so familiar. "This is a powerful spell seems a druid placed it on you" Merlin soon spoke sounding annoyed.
"What does that mean?" I asked in a whisper as I felt Merlin move her hands. She soon told me to place my top back on as I listened. "That means removing the spell means getting the blood of the one who placed it. Do you know who did it?" Merlin asked as I shook my head looking at the ground. I knew it must have confused her. It always hurt me in a way. No longer having my memories. I always wanted to remember the past. I always wanted to know who I really was. "Elizabeth?" Merlin soon asked.
"I-I cannot remember anything from my past. My only memories are of being inside my prison you all saved me from" I explained in a whisper as it really did pain me to forget. It really did hurt me in a way to no longer know my family. To no longer remember if I had friends. To not know who I even was. Why everyone was scared of me. Why they thought I was a monster. What I did to cause those thoughts. I always wondered. It would keep me up at nights while in the tower. It was something that would nag at me.
I felt Merlin's hands on my shoulders as I looked up at her. She was smiling at me. "You wish to remember your past?" Merlin asked as I nodded. She reminded me there was a chance it was nothing but a painful past. She reminded me that remembering could lead to suffering. "I don't care. I wish to know who I really am" I spoke in a normal tone as Merlin only smiled more hearing my words. she soon moving her hands to grab mine. She pulled me to my feet and kept hold of my hands.
I was confused. When first met she seemed to be the type to keep to herself but in the forest, she was the one to cheer me up. "Then let's be friends Elizabeth" she spoke as my eyes widen in shock. Friends? Did she really want to be friends with me? It felt as if I heard these words before from this voice. I didn't understand. "I will help you regain your memories" she then spoke as for once in a long time. I smiled. I was still in shock but a smile grew on my face. After so many years of being unable to do so, something this small was able to do it.
A friend. "I take that as a yes" she spoke as I nodded. That was when we heard a knock at the door of the room. I turned my head to face it, the smile vanishing fast. I wasn't sure on why. "Yes, Captain?" Merlin spoke loudly as Meliodas came into the room. He smiled asking for an update as Merlin made me sit back down on the wooden stall. "I can numb the spell but a druid placed it meaning I need the blood of that druid" Merlin soon explained as Meliodas nodded being able to understand a lot easier than me.
"Elizabeth has no memories of outside the tower we found her in so we will have to march into Liones and find the druid ourselves" Merlin then informed Meliodas who crossed his arms nodded. His eyes closing as I moved my right hand to play with the earing I had. I never was able to remember getting the earing but something felt as if it was important to me. "That should be simple not many powerful druids in Liones who can do such spells" Meliodas soon spoke as Merlin agreed with him.
"Captain, I wish to personally teach Elizabeth about the outside world. Give me two days and she will know everything she can about Liones" Merlin soon spoke shocking both me and Meliodas who opened his eyes fast hearing her words. I was looking right at Merlin who had a serious look on her face. "Alright Merlin. I leave her in your hands for the next three days" Meliodas soon spoke as it was easy to see he trusted her. Something inside me, the same with Meliodas, it trusted Merlin.
It felt as if she was someone I could always go to.
