~Chapter 12~Happy~
~Elizabeth's Pov~
First thing I did when we got back to the Boar Hat was run to my room keeping the door close. Merlin and Diane tried knocking and talking to me through the door but I just sat on the bed, staring downward at my hands. My eyes watering. We were the first ones back at the tavern. I was worried and scared. There was a chance that Gilthunder could strike the town. There was a chance Hawk couldn't find Meliodas. I wasn't sure how long I sat there thinking about all of the worse outcomes of tonight. I was shaking slightly.
"HAWK! CAPTAIN!" I heard Diane shout downstairs as I wanted to rush downstairs to see how Meliodas was. I ended up covering my eyes. Gulia was right. It as my fault. It was my fault he got hurt. It was my fault that the townspeople got hurt my the knights of Liones. I truly did bring suffering to others. Worse thing that made me cry slightly. Diane, Merlin and Meliodas had made me so happy. I hadn't felt the joy I did with them for so long. I nearly had forgotten what happiness felt like. I ended up getting Meliodas badly hurt.
I heard running up the stairs along with Merlin shouting 'captain'. Meliodas. I was mentally begging for him not to come in here. I knew where he was heading. I knew he must've been worried about me. I didn't want to face him. I didn't want to get him hurt anymore. I heard my door burst open. "P-please...don't" I begged in a whisper crying in between. I heard the door close and footsteps toward me. "Elizabeth" I heard Meliodas whisper worried as I was able to hear Gulia's voice in my head.
"Hey, that woman, that Holy Knight lied. This wasn't your fault it was theirs" Meliodas spoke as I didn't move my hands or reply. I didn't know what to think. I didn't know what to say or do. All I felt was guilt. "Hey, look at me" I heard him whisper as I nearly did move my hands. I was even more scared than before. Scared of hurting him. I felt his forehead touch mine as it was quiet for a bit. "It wasn't your fault Elizabeth. I am fine" he whispered after staying quiet so long. I was unable to look at him. I was unable to move my hands.
"Please, look at me for a second before I make you" he whispered as I was confused on the 'make you' part, but I kept quiet. I didn't move. I was only shaking slightly. I heard Meliodas sigh slightly as I felt his hands on my side moving me to lay on the bed. I was in shock by the fast movement as it made me move my arms to see Meliodas leaning over me with a smile on his face. He had some dust and bruises here and there on him. "I'm fine" he spoke in a normal tone as I wiped away some tears on my face.
Some still going down it. "Elizabeth, please don't blame yourself for this. This wasn't your fault at all" he spoke as his eyes were so calm but filled with worry. I was confused how he could act this way after I got him hurt. How I nearly got him killed. "I-I could have gotten you killed" I whispered in utter guilt as he only kept his smile moving his head down as he kissed my forehead. My eyes widen as my heart was beating loudly once more. Once he pulled his head back I noticed his eyes were closed.
His smile had grown. "You wouldn't have Elizabeth but I am glad you care about me enough to worry" he spoke as my face started to burn up ever so slightly. My body was reacting to him so weirdly. I wasn't used to this. I wasn't used to anything other than pain. Meliodas opened his eyes as the worry was gone. I saw relief and joy in them. "CAPTAIN GET OFF HER!" I heard King shout from the doorway. Afterwards hearing running up the stairs as Meliodas gave out a sigh. "Got caught" he mumbled as he was pulled off me.
Diane and Merlin were threatening Meliodas. I sat up as King flew over smiling at me. "I am glad you are alright Elizabeth" he spoke as I thanked him in a whisper. Ban and Gowther were in the doorway. Ban laughing at Meliodas as Gowther only sighed, pushing his glasses up his nose. I noticed that Escanor was back to his weaker looking form holding a pendant shaped like a sun. "Merlin" he spoke getting her away from the Meliodas and over to him. She took the pendant saying she would refill it for the future.
Refill? I was confused once again. I looked toward Diane who had Meliodas at the wall threatening to tear him, limb from limb if he tried anything 'funny' on me. I smiled slightly. This feeling. Seeing everyone here caring about me. Everyone here not blaming me even. I was happy. Thanks to these seven people....I was able to be happy.
