Rescue The Rescuer

Angela's Point Of View;
That was my first real battle but somehow I managed to get the best of them. Of course, they were not easy to take down. In fact, they already seemed to be recovering. I had hoped that they were as tired as me but they have much more stamina. I didn't want to stick around here any longer cause if they started back up I have already used all of the tricks I know. So I gather the little strength I had left and ran out of the shed with the hope that Misty and Camella managed to contact someone.

As I went a short distance into the forest I realized that I had no idea where I was going. I didn't see how we even got to the shed in the first place because of my poor eyesight and the fog. Then I thought that if I climbed up a tall tree, I would be able to get a better view so I could figure out where I should go. As I followed through on that thought and got halfway up the tree I turned back to me again.

What terrible timing! Ugh! Well, it's better to be high than low right?

Misty's POV;
Camella's father and my uncle met us on the dock. We came off the ship that we used for the radio so they would see us more easily. I guess Uncle wasn't kidding about contacting the police since the entire police squad seem to have followed on boats. Even helicopters with searchlights came. It was now early morning and the sky was beginning to wake. All of that bought some relief to me cause I knew now we have a sure chance of finding Angela.

I ran to meet Uncle with Camella doing the same going towards her father. He was overjoyed at seeing her and Uncle was really happy to see me. But I know we both couldn't be at ease until we hear from Angela. Both of us went over to where the policewoman was to make sure they knew that Angela was still out there.

She looked familiar but I couldn't place where I had seen her before. But maybe her familiarity was the reason the police squad was able to get here so fast. Uncle always managed to have connections with people in high places. So maybe it was a function he had taken me to a time when we met. The name on her badge was Karla Roves and she was the Chief. The name now clicked and I remembered who she was. But I had no idea she was an officer now.

"A search party is in the woods, so far all that was reported is that they found a cabin with some notorious criminal types in it. But we will continue the search," she said to us.

"Officer, I want to help find her cause she saved my daughter's life. If she's not in the cabin I told you about then I don't know where." Camella's dad responded.

"Let's not jump to any conclusions just yet Mr. Willows. In the meantime, I'm going to need you all to give a report of events that have taken place. Possible a medical checkup for the children also." Chief Roves answered him.

Just as Mr. Willows started to speak Chief Roves was being contacted on one of those old-time handheld communicator radios with a man's voice on the other line saying, "Chief Rove's come in, this is helicopter 096,"

"Chief Roves responding, what is it Officer Ford?" Chief she took it out of her belt and answered.

"We appear to have found the lost girl in question up a tree. Send a unit to the following coordinates." Officer Ford replied.

Uncle then asked the question that all of us were internally asking. "Um is up a tree code for something?"

"No, it means she's literally up a tree." Chief Roves answered him trying to remain serious.

"What is she doing up a tree?" I asked her but uncle answered me first and then placed his hand on my shoulder.

"I guess you'll have to ask her that when she gets here," I didn't say anything in response but I had to admit that Angela has surely been behaving strangely ever since we got off that fishing trip.

Angela's POV;
I heard so much of noises above me that sounded like helicopters circling. Then voices from below me called my name. One of them who looked like a bear came up and told me to take his hand or should I say paw. So much for my higher you go the safer you are idea.

But he was wearing a police uniform. This world seems to have animals that are as intelligent as humans. So I accepted the help and he lead me down. My first bear encounter and he offers me help instead of harm. As they bought me out of the forest it seemed that the sky was beginning to look like the dawn. I saw someone with purple hair come running toward me. No doubt it was Misty and following behind him was someone of smaller stature. So Camella was still here too.

They both hugged me so tightly which caught me off, guard. I'm not a hugger actually and I think I'm allergic to such outward displays of emotion. But I try to keep in mind that they were probably overly worried. Well honestly so was I. Then they let me go with Misty's uncle coming for a hug. Oh boy

Then he let me go and I was approached by a policewoman who was an actual human surprisingly. But she had a strange pinkish triangular-shaped facepaint on her cheeks. Come to think of it, all of the police force seems to have that marking on their face. She was taller than me but slightly shorter than Mitys Uncle. She had hazel eyes and a light skin complexion with dark brown mid-back length hair. The badge on her shirt had her name written on it.

She commended me on my bravery which made me laugh nervously. People have called me a lot of things in my short lifespan but brave was never one of them. I mean it was Misty's idea to come out and see what the guys were doing in the first place. Without his prompting, I would not even be out here.

 "Thanks but I was scared the entire time. And I was the one needing to be saved in the end anyway," I replied in a soft tone.

"Don't sell yourself short, if it weren't for you we'd still be in that cabin waiting for them to do who knows what to us," Misty said as he put his hand on my shoulder.

"Yes, and you stopped that. And also bought my daughter back to me. Thank you," The fox guy who I had saved earlier said making me notice him. Camella who was in his arms also followed her father's sentiment by thanking me. Well, I was glad to help but I didn't like all the attention that was now on me.

"Um, you're both welcome," I said not knowing what else to say.

"It was actually a really smart idea to climb the trees for higher ground when you heard the helicopters to make it easier to find you," Misty's uncle continued.

"Really, was that your part of the plan?" Misty chimed in with his question as he took his hand off my shoulder and turned to me.

"Um well, not initially" was all I managed to get out as it was kind of difficult for me to explain.

"In any case, it was a smart idea. I always knew you were very resourceful and you continue to prove it by finding a way out all the time." Chief Roves added in

"I guess so,"was my understatement but at least I didn't go silent.

"And she has me too, you all wouldn't know where we were in the first place if it wasn't for me." Misty again put his two cents in.

"Alright Misty, we get it and we're grateful to you too." Uncle cut into the conversation from going any further.

"Yes so now I think you all can head back with an officer. The children might be exhausted. So we'll pick up with the report later on, ok" Chief Roves said.

"Yes thank you Karla um I mean Chief Roves," Uncle answered. There was one more thing I had to tell her before we left.

"Um... excuse me I just want to say that two of the seven of them may be very sore and angry. So make sure your officers are prepared for a fight."

"Thanks for the warning I'll alert the rest of the search party to the amount that should be present. Or would you want to do that?" She left after saying and it sounded passive-aggressive. What does she have against me well the other Angela.

Thinking about it what she said about me 'finding a way out all the time' also sounded odd to me. But maybe I'm overthinking it. As we got onto Uncle's ship to sail back, Misty and Camella were the first to fall asleep. Since we all sat together Camella's head fell on my lap and Misty's head landed on my shoulder while snoring. Uncle saw the scene and while muffling his laughter he took out his phone for a picture. My annoyance was clearly shown which I think made him enjoy it more.

But then I started to laugh a bit also; in a unique way I guess this family as strange as it is, dare I say it "happy". This Angela's life has its drawbacks with all the villains but in the end, she's surrounded by people who genuinely care. She wouldn't just leave a happy family like this, would she?

After that Carmella's father came and lifted her off of me gently so she could lean on him. But Uncle Alaric did no such thing cause when he sat next to me he just took a close-up selfie. There was no way I was getting any sleep on the ride back.

"I know I thanked you already Angela but I can't say it enough. But I also owe you an apology, I was forced to help them," Camella's dad said to me.

"It's ok I understand, they were scary people" I answered, and Uncle who was sitting continued.

"And bullies! Ganging up on children. Not to mention what they planned to do to the environment by disposing of chemicals in the lake. But nature has a way of healing itself so no permanent damage was done thanks to our everyday hero"

"No you don't understand, it's not just the disposal of chemicals. I'm a chemist so I make them also. While I was with them about a month ago they talked about a way of finishing off you, Angela. They said it was a foolproof plan that couldn't miss since someone named 'Doc' put the best guy on it. And since almost losing my daughter, I know that could have been devastating for you Alaric, if they had succeeded," Camella's dad said.

"Well, when did they plan on doing this?" Uncle asked him in a very concerned tone of voice.

"They should of already since I heard that the guy started his mission today," Was the answer Camella's dad gave that seemed to relieve Uncle but worry me more.

"What was the mission?" I asked.

"To poison you with nitroglycerin, but it would seem that they've failed but didn't know it. I'm glad they did 'cause they turned on me also," He replied but it only lead me to ask another question.

"Do you know how they planned on doing that?"

"I don't know how they intended on going about it but you should be very careful from now on. If such a great plan that they boasted about failed they are likely to try again with much more precision." I went silent after he told me that but uncle responded.

"We will be, thanks for the warning,"

This all sounds terrifying. Could it be a coincidence that on the same day that these people have planned to get rid of Angela that she disappears and I appear? And if they think that I'm her what will they do to me? Could she of found out and made a run for it? Or could it of really worked and she didn't make it?

Uncle also lost the smile he wore a minute ago. And I stayed in a quiet mode for the rest of the sail back to the shore. Oh, Angela, I hope you're ok for your family's sake.
