12: Something warm in his cold heart ...
For the remainder of the day Kyla was a nervous wreck. Even though it did not entirely affect her focus when working, someone who had been observing her progress from the entire day would have to be blind not to notice the subtle change in her expressions and low spirit.
Professor Jared noticed that she was slightly absent-minded and clumsy while walking and if he was worried, he did not voice his opinion. He figured it had something to do with the man in a mask that she had been talking to earlier.
As the day came to an end Kyla grew more and more self conscious. She hadn't had a meal with anyone in along time, let alone cook for one. She did not know what to talk about during dinner, how to behave with the little prince, and most of all, she did not want to mess anything up. Maybe she should just sit this one out.
Back at the Quin Villa the little Prince was making a big mess in his room. He was feeling betrayed and had locked himself in his room for the past hour. He was wondering why his goddess had promised him dinner an refused to show up. Was he that bad an unlovable?
Alexander had called his best therapists to calm him down but as usual their pleas fell on deaf ears. Alexander even resorted to threats and bribes but his son was still adamant to bring the house down with his wailing.
Alexander was beyond frustrated. He walked towards his room, his darkened expression growing darker and darker by the second. The servants who saw him like that cowered and hid themselves into the shadows. Alexander was not good with emotions, especially if they involved his inability to help his child.
"Am sending you a car, get here in 20 mins. "Alexander said emotionlessly over the phone. He was already blaming Kyla for breaking her promise and making the little prince go on a rampage.
"A taxy? Okay get here," he said and hung up the phone. At least she didn't break her promise all together.
He sat down on his large sofa and rubbed his temples tiredly. He contemplated whether to call his parents but decided against it. It was already late and it would only make them worry more.
When Kyla got to the Villa she was immediately rushed to the little Prince's room. They only told her that he had locked himself in the room and was crying, as for the reason, nobody knew.
She knocked slowly on the door, her heart beating too fast for her liking. She knocked again and almost cried when he did not answer. Her heart was breaking for the little prince that she had only known for a little while but had already become a big part of her life.
"Baby, am sorry am late. There were no taxis available in the Village so I... I had to walk a little then there was bad traffic and I had to wait some more..." She rumbled on and on and just a she was at the verge of breaking down, the door slowly opened to reveal a very tiny little prince with puffy red eyes. He looked so cute that Kyla couldn't help but pull him hard into her embrace.
She kissed him numerous times on the cheeks while mumbling countless ' I am sorrys ' that left all the therapists and servants speechless.
Just who is this woman? How can she coax the little prince with just a few worlds?
"You want to eat?" She asked.
The little prince did not need to be asked twice. He immediately bobbled his head up and down. Yes! Yes!!
Kyla lifted him up and asked him to lead her to the kitchen. After pointing towards the kitchen's direction the little prince laid his head comfortably on Kyla's shoulder and begun to excitedly anticipate about his meal, his struggle and pain for the past hour entirely forgotten.
Alexander who had been watching Kyla's actions ever since she arrived, followed the duo silently into the kitchen. He was afraid that if he made any sound or made his presence known then it would disturb the beautiful sight before him. For the first time in a long time he felt something warm in his cold heart, and he wanted to feel it just a little longer.
