Sebastien

I watched on as her heated breath clouded the window, her hands making their signature print as the van rocked gently. Her dark hair was being held back by a hand I knew too well, that one hand, held a ring of his late mother, I should know he was my best friend after all. The keys of my custom-designed SUV were clutched tightly in my hand, the anger and betrayal came in waves as I watched my best friend fucking my girlfriend of three years in my birthday gift.

"Happy fucking birthday Seb," I said to myself slowly approaching the vehicle. It was lunchtime and the car park had a good flow of students looking for their own cars. Few called out to me but I couldn't register it all to return my normal warm greeting, that's when they knew something was up. A crowd began to form behind me some were snickering while others were admonishing the two. The traitors were so into each other that they didn't notice the audience with phones recording.

My thumb pressed the lock on the keypad, the comforting beep alerted me of its success, and still, the two heard nothing. I can tell the air conditioning was on from the lack of fog on the clear windows giving me the view of Ronnie now between the passenger and driver seat as Dante pound into her ruthlessly from behind. Her eyes were closed in ecstasy, her bottom lip between her teeth while her small pert breasts were bouncing as my best friend was now groping them.

This was the errand he had to run when he borrowed my van during my morning class.

Sliding my thumb to the start and stop button I pressed it hard with a vengeance. Reaching for my phone in my pocket I dialed the three-digit number without taking my eyes off the two. Someone came beside me and began to talk but the two occupants of the van were still going at it as I ignored my new companion.

"911 What's your emergency?"

"This is Sebastian McRoy. There are two strangers in the car park of Winthorp University fucking the brains out of each other in my van. Please send someone to remove these people." I responded calmly before ending the call.

"Seb. I'm really sorry man. This is just fucked up." The person said beside me, it was then I realized it was Marlin one of the few people I normally converse with.

"It's alright," I said quietly moving my thumb to the alarm that can only be turned off by myself. The key Dante had now in the ignition was also controlled by the keypad on the original key, thanks to the brilliant mind of my father.

The rocking of the van stopped, the keypad began to vibrate in my hand, I subtly leaned my head to the right knowing he was trying to get the air conditioner back on. The crowd was getting loud, I then activated the alarm which caused the loud sound to startle a few persons but everyone erupted in laughter as the two occupants hastily wiped the fog away off the windows. Both their eyes met mine in horror then they had the decency to cover up after such a public display. They were trying to get out but I kept the doors locked. I said nothing, their muffled shouts reached my ears but I duly ignored them. The two people I considered friends were now aught in a clichéd act.

How pathetic was this?

Cameras of smartphones were flashing and clicking as they still tried to get out, the alarm blaring and the crowd's noise attracted more people just as a squad car came into the car park. They made their way through the crowd; one went to the van yelling orders at them while the other seeks me out. I turned to the female officer; my hair was now in my face as I looked at her still deathly calm in anger. "Mr. McRoy. Do you know how they got into your vehicle?" she asked a bit hesitantly.

"As I told the dispatcher those two are strangers," I replied disarming the alarm and unlocking the doors. Ronnie's cries for me reached my ears but nothing from Dante. The officer who now had them handcuffed together brought them towards me. "Seb I'm so sorry baby. It was all a mistake. I..I...I don't know what happened. We went for your birthday gift and something started..." Her stupid excuse or explanation of whatever she was trying to do was clichéd also. Did she actually think I will believe her?

"Thank you, officers, for responding in such a timely manner. I will leave you to do your duties. If you have any more questions please contact me." I said in a bored tone, my eyes went to Dante who was eyeing me also. He said nothing and nor did I. His eyes were distant and his posture was tense. This was the response I get from my best friend; he and I planned a future at MacTech, even choosing where we will buy our first house. All I got was silence even when Ronnie started to throw him under the bus to the officers.

"Are you sure you don't know these people, Sir?" The officer asked once more.

"I'm sorry I do not."

With that last statement, I brushed past them and headed back to the main entrance of the University as I made a quick call.

"Sebastien!! Oh, my angel." The concerned voice of my dear mother echoed throughout the grand marble foyer of our home. Our butler simply took my bag and stood beside me as my mother came running in. A trembling smile reached my face seeing her in a paint-covered shirt and jeans paired with her favorite sneakers. She was an artist who was well known in America and European countries; it was in Prague where she met my father Donovan McRoy, Duke of Montrose. Her blonde hair had a few paint streaks as she came rushing towards me enveloping me in a tight hug. Being twenty-two and still depending on my mother's hugs was something I will never be ashamed of. I was depending it will heal my heart instantly but I still felt shattered.

"Chief Caine called. He wants to know if you want to press charges." She asked softly brushing my curls away from my forehead.

"Tell him to do as he, please. I will be in my room."

"I will send up your dinner. Your father is on his way home." My mother said in a comforting tone. She was trying to respect my space but also want to be the hovering mom of a broken son. Honestly, I was numb to it all, the betrayal was there but I guess the right emotions haven't surfaced. Using the long way to my room wasn't the best idea; the help all gave me sympathetic smiles and words of reassurance. What should I do?  This all was new to me. This thing they call Heartbreak.

In my room was the worst, pictures of them were everywhere. I leaned on the large mahogany desk that was the center of my room looking around pinpointing every memory each picture held. I let it all taunt me.

Why didn't I suspect a thing? How long were they at it? How can I be so stupid?

My arm brushed against a framed picture of Ronnie and I, the anger that was slowly rising to the surface found the ideal time to show itself. I hurled the picture across the room; the glass shattering against the wall gave me an inkling of comfort. I allowed it all to consume me, the images of them together were the spark, every picture I had with Ronnie I smashed them to pieces. Tears blurred my vision as I took out the anger and pain I held in at the university in my room. I needed to let it all out. The question of why repeated itself in my head.

What have I done to deserve this major betrayal? I only saw this kind of infidelity in movies and books Ronnie loved. Dante was the worst. We known each other for years since we were five, inseparable we were always called, how could he do this to me? I always went above and beyond for him. I considered him a brother, as I was an only child, my parents adored him. What the fuck went wrong?

I didn't know how long my meltdown lasted but I knew when my parents came in. "We canceled everything." My father said in a deathly calm tone. I scoffed at his statement. "I think I've had enough of this day," I said drily. They came and sat beside me, my father brought me into a crushing hug that's when the dam broke. I cried like a little bitch in the arms of my father, what surprised me the most, he was comforting me. My no-nonsense father whom everyone said I'm a replica of was comforting me.

"It's okay. Just let it out." He said. Still, in his suit he held me like he did when I was younger, my head tucked below his chin as he told me he will fix everything. That was it. I didn't want him to fight my battles, I had to stand on my own. I knew I can't run from the title of his sole heir but I had to be strong on my own, today's situation placed it all into perspective.

My mother joined in with her own words of comfort. They both stayed with me in silence until someone's phone rang.

"The nerve of this woman." She spat in anger looking at the caller ID. This wasn't good.

"What is it Victoria?"

Both my father and I listened in on the one-sided conversation, whatever Ronnie's mother was saying my mother was turning into the vicious mama bear she was.

"Your daughter cheating on my son with his best friend in HIS car is a big deal. This isn't something you can clear up with persuasion." Her eyebrow raised in disbelief at what was said again.

"Yes, I do think my son is a god damn prince after all you are calling to keep their engagement. My son won't be stooping low as your daughter. Why don't call Mitchell? Maybe he will like a cheating tramp for a daughter-in-law. After all, she slept with his son already." With that being said she ended the call releasing a frustrated sigh.

"I'm sure her husband will be calling soon with another approach to keep it all quiet." My father said with an equally frustrated sigh.

"I don't want to think about her right now. She made her choice." I said bitterly. My parents stayed quiet leaving me to my own wild destructive thoughts.

"Son I think you need some time away from it all. Come back when you're ready."

It wasn't a bad idea. I needed some time to think over what happened and focus on my future.

Just how often does a future Chairman find his fiancé with his best friend on his 22nd birthday?
