Season 1: Episode 20
I stumbled several times, once landing face first in the shrubs but I didn't stop running. A branch slapped me in the face so hard I saw stars I didn't know what motivated me to keep running like I did I was grateful nonetheless for it.
But for some weird I felt like I was making a bad decision by running away from him as if he was less dangerous than whatever laid ahead of me. Without warning I smacked into a wall and bounced some feet's back. I rubbed my forehead that was stating to bruise and looked up to cold red eyes.
I was wrong to have ran away from that....man atleast he talked like a civilized being, something told me the creature in front of me wasn't ready to do that. It'd tear me into pieces before I could say hi.
I started to back away, keeping my eyes on it for any movement. It tilted it's head to a side as if assessing me and licked it's lip. It was then I noticed that there were blood stains running from it's mouth to it's neck. I swallowed. It started to stalk to me a smirk appearing on it's face.
"Come on. I don't bite." It slurred, I blinked it talks.
Hope started to rise in me, if it was willing to talk then maybe I could stall till help would come. I highly doubted that though but at least I'd have few minutes to live. So I grinned at it as much as I could in that situation and got up, keeping an eye on it to make sure it wouldn't pounce on me while I was busy getting up. Dusting dirt from my clothes I stretched an hand towards it, still grinning up at it.
"Hi." It came out as a croak so I tried again after clearing my throat.
"Hi, I'm Maya and I'm human but I'm sure you know that already, isn't that why you want to err eat me?"
"I'm scorpion and I'm not human I'm sure you know that already and no I don't want to eat you." I raised an eyebrow at him, relieved that I wouldn't get eaten.
"I only want to suck your blood." He said it as if it was a common thing to want to suck someone's blood. He resumed walking closer to me, probably tired of out little chitchat.
"Don't!" I shouted and flung a stick at him. He easily dodged it and before I could blink, he evaded my personal space, he looked more menacing up close and I closed my eyes in anticipation, my heart beating in an uneven rhyme. The bite never came. All I heard was an huff. I opened my eyes to an horrible sight.
The man from earlier, the one who was a carpa-something jabbed a knife into the demon's heart continuously and instead of falling to the ground it busted into a ash like substance which settled in a puddle at the feet of the carpa-something.
I had learnt enough lessons to know that running away from the man was stupid so I stood my ground, surprisingly I wasn't scared but curious. He was nothing like the demon laying in a puddle and was more like a normal human man. Maybe he was joking when he said he was a carpa-something. Ha, he definitely was. Instead of being relieved anger overtook her, taking few steps towards him. She shoved him hard, he didn't even bulge, he just looked down his bare chest at were her hands were with a blank expression.
"This is all your fault! You stupid man! If you hadn't scared me and lied that you were not human I wouldn't have ran into that--that t it's all your fault." I beat his chest one more time but not as hard this time.
"If you hit me one more time I'll cut off your hands and feed it to the leeches." If not for his angry words, one wouldn't know he was pissed with the blank look he had on. There was an underlying warning in his tone and that prompted her to take a step back.
"I-i'm sorry." She got out. That seemed to satisfy and he turned away walking the opposite way he came from. He got a few feet's ahead of her when something dawned on her. She couldn't go back to the camp as she didn't know her way back other than that she couldn't risk meeting one of those demons again. Her safest bet was to stick with the weird man who looked able and had proofed able to take down those demons so without giving it much thought she ran after him.
She stopped running when she reached his side, gracing him a grin which he didn't return. They walked in silence for a while when she decided to make conversations.
"So....you live in the forest?" It was a dumb question and one which would annoy a normal person, she was surprised when he gave a tiny nod.
"Not a talker, I see. Any hobbies?"
"Drinking blood." She gulped, he sounded similar to the demon she met earlier but she calmed herself, If he was anything like the demon he'd be feasting on her right then.
"Haha, I like your humor."
"And I like your blood type, O negative." Her steps faltered.
"H-howddidyouknow?" Maybe it was a bad idea after all to go with him, who knew blood type of someone they'd never met by sniffing the air like he was doing. There was something animalistic in his behaviour.
"How did I know? Its mixed with your scent. This is a hint... O negative blood is the sweetest to leeches and you're the only one with that blood type among the 10 of you so guess who they'll be after most?"
"Me."
"Exactly." He continued walking as if he didn't just drop a bomb on her. Her heart had started its uneven rhyme again, she suddenly felt so sick of everything, maybe giving up was a good idea.
"What do I do now?" She asked no one in particular.
"Stick with me." And she did
