8: Aster
"The meaning of the Aster flower is to show the symbol of love and daintiness when dealing with a loved one of the feminine stature"
---
BEGONIA raised his eyebrow again as he sat behind the counter, watching as Tulip race around the shop at what he assumed was rush hour. He had never seen so many people in a shop, and knowing that it was a flower shop made it all the more confusing. People actually bought flowers - this many people came and bought flowers. All Begonia could do was sit behind the counter watching, as each person paid money, as they called for help. Tulip was a one man job running around the shop which instantly made Begonia feel bad for her - she could have hired more than one person. In his head he laughed at the idea that she probably only hired him because he was named after a flower.
"Tulip got load four in." A tall man with golden blonde hair called, walcing in with a crate of flowers. Blues, reds and pink looked liked they threw up in the crate, in Begonias opinion. He also wore the green apron Tulip wore, that she had forced him to wear.
"Thanks, just set it behind the counter Aster." She ordered, excusing herself from an elderly customer. Aster eyed Begonia.
"Who is this?" The older man asked, setting the crate onto the counter instead of behind. Begonia glared at the pretty boy, seeing the dimples and the dark, sun kissed skin - huge arms.
"I said behind the counter Ast." She sighed, picking up the crate with difficulty. Struggling with it, she turned to Begonia. "Aster this is my new intern Begonia, Begonia this is my brother Aster." She grunted, stumbling with the crate, her brother not making a move to help.
"Begonia - I saw you on the news. You just got out of prison." Aster said, eyeing Begonia and his intimidating appearance and stance. Begonia unfolded his arms, grabbing the crate from Tulip as she stumbled.
"Thank you Begonia." She smiled, her teeth as perfect as Asters. "And Aster don't be a meanie." She frowned at her older brother, wiping dirt on her apron. "Please just put it in the back room." She smiled wider, pointing at the door into the room he was interviewed in. Nodding he silently took the box into the back room and placed it on the table closest to the skylight. "He's probably going to make a great employee." She squealed excitedly to her brother, Begonia freezing to over hear.
"Tulip they tried to set fire to the roses." Aster said lowly to her, but Begonia over heard. "Dad is scared they're going to start using salt. We'll loose the land forever."
"Who would keep doing something like this?" Tulips small voice replied sadly back. Begonia furrowed his eyebrows at the new information, that someone was causing havoc to a flower buisness.
"Maybe town delinquents like him." Aster hissed, Begonia only rolled his eyes, he would never do something as dumb as ruin a flower buisness. He was used to being assumed as someone to do that though - he did do things like that, but never to flowers. Buildings and people, not things like this. Or he might have, if he had been drunk and with his old friends and probably stumble across the feild.
"Shut up Aster, Begonia only recently got out ot jail. This has been happening for months." Tulip argued, which was cue for Begonia to walk back in. They stopped their conversation, Aster ruffling her auburn locks before turning and exiting the shop. "You're cooking dinner!" She called out to him, watching the disgust twist on his face. She flicked through a few flower seed bags with a distressed look on her face.
"I couldn't help but over hear what you and your brother were talking about." Begonia pressed, clenching his strong jaw at the idea of pressing for information like this. Angry that he was curious about it.
"Yeah - we have the police looking into it, we assume it may be some young people around the town trying to play pranks by burning the flowers." Tulip ranted, picking up an odd looking flower. One that he was familiar with. "Look - a Begonia." She turned to him grinning, he had taken his position on the stool again, arms folded and face glaring at her. She didn't make a comment on his repetition or angry like face that was scaring some of the costumers in the store that waited behind the counter.
