Author's Note

I say this way too much, but I'm stunned.

This story has progressed monumental amounts. The first draft . . . we're not going to talk about it. It's bad. Someday, I'll probably remove it from this book and publish it separately (or remove it entirely). It's just . . . my writing was not good back then. It's been three years and I cringe horribly.

And to think, you people liked the first draft.

   Crazy. All of you.

Anyway, here's the obligatory thank-you! Thank y'all so much for supporting me. This story has remained my favorite, even though I've written over seven books between the first and second drafts. (No, not all of them have been published. Nice try.)

Still, Roxie holds a special place in my heart because she was the first character I really enjoyed writing. She told the story of someone that came from a typical background -- nothing special about her. Regardless, she made a name for herself. (Yes, she came from a really important family, but had nothing to do with them. It did nothing to affect her journey.) That's a lesson I hold close to my heart. You don't have to be someone special to succeed.

In the first draft, she didn't have nearly as much of an arc. Neither did Tate. Or Daniella. Honestly, the characters are kind of 2D in the first draft. And Roxie was really rude. I mean, not funny rude, but mean. I didn't like that. It bothered me. So even Roxie got a tuning in this second draft. Not to mention that the whole second draft kinda ran away from me . .  heh heh.

In this story, it has what the first draft lacks: motivation, plot, high stakes, and character development. Not to mention the writing is ten times better.

So, now that I've described just how much better this draft is, here is the playlist and my sign-off.

Roxie's Badass Playlist:

Stronger - The Score
Confident - Demi Levato
Empires - Ruelle
Ain't Gonna Drown - Elle King
Good Girls - Elle King
White Flag - Bishop Briggs
CHAMPION - Bishop Briggs
Unstoppable - The Score
Believer - Imagine Dragons

(It's short, but Roxie is too, so it balances out.)

Here's the place to leave reviews! Tell me how you liked the story. Find any big plot-holes or inconsistencies that bothered you? Here's the line to let me know. I do love me some constructive criticism. Even if you don't have anything to point out, then just tell me something else! Favorite character? Favorite moment? Least-favorite character or moment? Maybe introduce yourself and let me finally meet my silent readers :)

Again, thank you guys so much for reading. There really is no way to really convey how grateful I am. Y'all are incredible.

And with that, I tip my hat to you, you lovely butterfly.

About BerryButterfly:

Berry is a teenage author, one with not nearly enough time on her hands to be writing massive books like this one. Absolutely irresponsible of her. Besides that, she's Texan. Texans are insufferable. When asked about favorite hobbies, Berry replied with, "Torturing people and exploiting loopholes," so instead, it shall say here that her favorite hobbies are knitting, writing, and learning useless skills (like wood-burning and origami).

If seeking to contact BerryButterfly, you ought to just stop trying. Besides the DMs on this website, nothing really gets through that thick skull of hers. And she's probably out of your league, anyway.

Above all else, she reminds her readers, "Smile. It confuses people."
