Chapter XII

Louis walked me from my apartment to a small un renowned restaurant on 7th. I've never even seen it before. Then again I've never been on 7th.

It was kinda cute, looked a bit like a cafe of some kind. It was just an eatery, serving up salads, sandwiches and the like. I wasn't sure whether Louis had been here or not. Matter of fact, I didn't even know if he lived here or not. I was going out with someone i literally knew nothing about.

"I've heard around town that this place is really good, and has the best and freshest sugar cookies." Louis nodded at the building as we observed and stood in front of it.

My lips subconsciously flicked across my mouth at the sound of the words "sugar" and "cookie". Put those words together and you have a heavenly orgy in your mouth.

Not in front of your guy friend there Abby.

"Yumm.." I hummed after slipping my tongue back into my mouth, feeling like a dog.

Before Louis stepped aside with a small grin and politely opened the glass door for me, I took into account that I probably looked like I just woke up, when it was, what? 4 o clock? LI glanced the clock at the back of the building and confirmed that before mumbling a soft "thank you," to Louis.

He chuckled back and I swear I got colder. I rubbed my arms to try and get friction, looking around to see if a huge air conditioner was on and right above me. I looked up, none.

"You alright? Cold?"

I was just about to answer when warmth came over my body like it was nothing. Had I stepped into a warm spot of the building?...maybe I watched too many ghost shows, and thought the cold was a supernatural being. Wow, I needed sleep.

"No.." I slowly made the word, turning to Lou who was smiling.

"You sure? I can fix that if you like.."

I wasn't really sure what he meant, considering he was wearing a tanktop. It's not like he could whip up a nice and warm jacket from his pocket, that'd be impressive. But he was smiling so I took it as a pleasant gesture and shook my head,"No, thank you though..must've just got the shivers is all.."

"Alright." He nodded and gestured for me to sit at the booth nearest the door first before him, so I did and let my butt squish against the once again cold leather. My crappy sweatpants kept me a little warm at least.

I set my bag down on the other side of me while Louis looked around the place, contemplating it, it looked like.

"You ever been here before?"

"Nah...I've heard of it from around though. I told you that when we came in Abby.." He eyed me and playfully raised an eyebrow at me in a stern manner.

Well. It's not my fault he's so attractive I forget what I've already said. It's his if anything. I needed to snap out of it; get out of this funk about Zach. This was it. I needed to chat and have a good, fun time with Louis, who was very kind to me. I'm not looking for a new relationship, especially at the present moment, but anyone would recognize Louis as...well, hot. He was a huge esteem booster honestally. He made me feel good about myself.

"Right..haha.." With a nervous little laugh I eyed him back and looked down as fast as I could so I wasn't looking at him again.

I sensed him reach towards me, but the clip clopping sound of heels started getting closer to us and our booth, and he flinched back.

I looked up from my embarrassed stupor to see a familiar face, the one I remembered seeing at the hospital. God, I'd kill for that perfect blonde hair.

"Hey, Marsha?" I asked her.

She gave me a warm and friendly smile shaded with pink lips. It made me smile too. Her name tag was clear as day, and did read: Marsha. I admired her, working at the hospital and at this little cafe.

"Hey! I know you, how you holding up sweetie?" Her kind voice asked. I probably looked better this time to her, without tears and snot running down my face. It made me feel a bit better actually.

"Marsha?"

I turned my head to Louis, who has said her name. It sounded curious, but when I got a look of his face he was glaring sharp and pointed daggers at her. I swear to God though, the second I turned to Louis a small cloud of black filled his eyes. They've done that before..haven't they..?

"Do you know her Louis?" I looked back and forth between the two. Marsha hadn't stopped smiling since she had spoken to me.

"No." He said plainly and just turned his head in my direction, but glared past my shoulder, focusing on whatever he could. I know he wasn't looking directly at me, but I still felt the cold and chilling feeling of his gaze. "I don't know her at all."

"What? Oh Lou you're a tease!" Marsha giggled and swatted at his shoulder. Her blonde hair bounced in their curls as she looked at me, the smile still there,"Louis and I are da-"

Louis panicked and nearly hit the table with clenched fists. "No! No! We are not dating! We-"

"Well..were dating.." She sent me a wink.

"Ughhhhh..." Louis groaned and hid his head by letting it drop against the table, and crossing his arms in front of him. I had to chuckle, it was kinda cute. His beanie almost had fallen off of his head.

"Grumpy are we? He's always like this.." Marsha sighed and stood straight up with perfect and perky posture, pen and pad in hand with her eyes closed as she shook her head scornfully at Louis.

Louis barely lifted his head to meet my eyes and my eyes only, his voice was a low and barely audible murmur, but I understood him.

"Will you excuse me? Sorry babe.."

Before I could protest, he was already up and out of his seat, dragging Marsha by the arm to the front counter. I was left thinking: how, and why the hell did Louis of all people, break up with Marsha, of all people?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Louis POV:
I nearly shoved Marsha in front of the counter, and I really, really didn't wanna hear the wisecrack coming my way.
"Ooooh Louis!" Marsha giggled,"You haven't been that rough with me since-"
"You shut up! Now what in the hell are you doing here?!" I tried to keep from yelling, so whisper-yelling had to suffice.
"What do you mean baby? I work here silly.." The siren grinned shamelessly and rubbed a soft hand up my chest.
I growled at her, but undemonically,"Marsha, I want you to get out of here, now."
"Awwwww but why?" She leaned in and whispered to me in my ear,"We could take a tumble in the restroom like old times..."
I shoved her away and glared at her always smiling face. I was seriously about to slap her, but that was apparently wrong down here. And I wanted to seem as normal as possible for Abby. I looked over my shoulder to check on her, and she was sitting there patiently, looking down at her feet as they swayed.
"Tch..Christ you really do like this girl huh?"
I didn't even have to look at her, nor did I want to, to know Marsha was now no longer smiling. I almost pictured her scowling at me with a lit cigarette in her mouth.
Was I smiling though? I casually touched my jaw to check and once I did I felt weird and embarrassed, so I went back to glaring at Marsha. She was glaring right back.
"Bless you," I crossed my arms and smirked.
Marsha didn't look the least offended and just scoffed, waving a hand at me. She shook her head,"So you haven't divulged in her "sweet" and "innocent" body yet I see?"
"Fuck Marsha, why is my business suddenly yours?" I said angrily. "And why are you interfering with me?"
The smile creeped back onto her lush, painted and red lips,"I'm just having a little bit of fun hot stuff.." She leaned in and gently tapped the bottom of my chin, causing me to wince.
"Whatever. Oh, and by the way, Abby is still pure of heart, and body. You were wrong." I added, being sure to get in her face about it. She loathed that.
She narrowed her blue eyes in annoyance,"Whoop-de-doo Bazil! Congratulations..." Our eyes stayed locked, the air filled with static. "She's just perfect isn't she?"
That's when it hit me. I blinked and leaned back away from Marsha, grinning like I just won a bet against Zayn. That only happened rarely with anyone, trust me.
"Marsh..you're jealous."
She didn't even hesitate to reply,"And what if I am?"
I shrugged,"Not my problem."
Marsha staggered back a little, her eyes almost widening in disbelief. That only concluded my thoughts. Our fling was good, amazing even...but that's all it was, a fling. We both knew that. Quite clearly. Not to mention it was literally ages ago.
"Now, if you'll just leave me alone for a bit Marsh, that'd be fantastic." I waved her off and started to turn, but of course, she and to say her piece.
"I'm not jealous Louis. I meant what I said, I just like messing with you. Besides, I've been with plenty," she got closer and stared me right in the eyes, getting in my face as I did with her,"and I mean plenty, of other men with more drive," She poked my chest,"more lust," and again,"and more skills then you'll ever have."
I just looked at her blankly as she finished, and watched her back off. After I blinked, she was gone. If only that could happen all the time. I pulled both sides of my beanie so it sat evenly on my head before turning around to go back, sit down, and have a nice time with Abby. Sweet, sweet Abby.
"So you guys...did date?" She asked.
I sighed and grabbed at my fringe with the tips of my fingers to relief myself of the little bit of anger I still had from talking with the siren. She was the last thing I needed right now. "Well..you could say that..."
She smiled a little at me, making me look up at her with my head downcast. "You wanna talk about it?"
I laughed softly and patted my beanie,"Nah...it was just a fling ya know? A long time ago, and we both left with no feelings attached."
"Why leave her though?" Abby tilted her head at me. A small strand of her hair fell from her hasty pulled together ponytail, and almost didn't listen to what she said. "I mean Louis, she's gorgeous! You guys could've been like, super happy!"
If only she knew. "Tch..quite the opposite love, trust me. I wasn't looking for anyone at the time anyway."
"And now?" Abby said oh so innocently, I almost licked my lips.
Instead, I bit my lip and locked my eyes with her. I didn't need demonic powers to manipulate her, and that made it easier. All I had to do was flash her a smile, show a bit of lip, and she was all mine. But only if it was that easy.
I made sure to look her over, make her feel like the only thing I saw was her, which was true. "Well, I can start looking.."
Her face instantly turned a deep shade of red, but she attempted to play it off by laughing a little.
Hook, line and sinker baby.
Playfully, I winked at her, but I wasn't expecting our legs to brush together from under the table, but they did, and Abby blushed even more. I'm not sure, but I think I did too. We smiled at each other for a bit before another waitress, not Marsha, came over to take our order,
