Chapter {58}
Emrys Belle:
Today was the big day. I was just hours away from walking down the aisle to the man I call mine and to finally make our love official for all to see. The past year was possibly one of the most difficult ones I have ever lived, yet it was one of the best with the birth of my little Aurora.
The excitement was bubbling inside me, everyone was buzzing around me getting themselves ready. Rose was in the corner of this big suite, in the house big enough to fit all us Mortimer woman in, getting her makeup done by one of the makeup artists that were hired. I was getting my hair done, auntie Annie was getting her nails painted while Everleigh was touching up her hair in the mirror by the door, the twins that were already dressed and ready were on kiddy duty making sure to keep Leora entertained while her mom was getting ready. Freyah was on the balcony in her gorgeous emerald green dress that she had chosen for this occasion, she was making sure that the boys were on track and time as they had all the sons with them and god knows these boys cannot be trusted.
I just felt so at peace, I was a little nervous but I wasn't afraid. I was ready.
Not before long it was time to slip my dress on and add the final touches. I had Rose help me put my dress on in the room while everyone else went downstairs so that I could make a grand entrance.
"You look absolutely beautiful Emrys. I'm so glad you are becoming my sister today." Rose spoke from behind me catching a glimpse of me in the mirror as I admired my gorgeous gown.
I turned around to face her and took her in my arms.
"Thank you Rose. For everything." I spoke into the hug.
Soon enough I was walking down the stairs, the fabric of my dress floating behind me at each step I took. I followed the noise to the kitchen, Rose following close behind me. I stepped in after Rose realising that Asher and Paul had arrived to escort me to the ceremony. Leora caught my eye, she was standing by the bay window looking out into the garden holding her little flower crown in her hands when I saw that the back of her dress had come undone. So no one had realised that I had stepped in. I knelt by Leora and buttoned up the back of her dress making sure it was secure.
A chorus of gaps filled the room making me jump a little at the reaction I was getting.
I stood back up to meet everyone's gaze, a light blush gracing my cheeks.
"You look absolutely breathtaking Dove." Paul announced walking closer to me, pulling me in his warm embrace.
"Thank you Paully." I smiled into the hug.
I was then greeted with compliments by everyone and grabbed a quick sandwich before it was time for us to get into the cars to head to the ceremony. Paul and Asher both came into the car with me letting the other girls take several cars making sure my second dress of the night makes it to our venue/ ceremony safety since both were taking place at the same venue.
"How are you feeling Princess?" Asher asked as the driver started the car making us leave the Mortimer estate.
"Nervous, but the good kind." I smiled letting him take my small hand in his, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
We were almost there but there was a place I needed to stop at before I went any further. I had spoken to the driver beforehand as to where he had to stop before the ceremony. I knew it would make me late but it's not like they can start without me so I can be fashionably late and no one can say anything about it.
The car stopped and I could see the look of confusion grace both Paul and Asher's face as they looked around and saw that we had arrived at the cemetery. Neither said a word as they knew what I had to do. I climbed out of the car carrying all the fabric of my big dress making sure it didn't get muddy as I stepped out. I took my heels off and handed them to Paul knowing that they would sink into the grass.
I quickly made my way to where my father laid, my feet leading the way, my heart beating wildly with nerves as I made my way to him.
"Hi dad." I whispered out, a little out of breath.
I brushed off the leaves from the top of his headstone and the ground surrounding it, making it look a little neater.
"Today's the big day. I hope you approve of Damon. I mean I'm sure you do if not Paul would have never let me near him in the first place." I let out a small giggle.
"I would have wanted you here with me dad. To tell me how much your baby Dove had grown, how beautiful I looked. Instead I have to come here. But I know you're here, holding my hand making sure I don't fall on my face as I walk down the aisle. I love you and miss you dad." I let out a single tear quickly wiping it away.
I bent down and placed next to the little toy car that I knew belonged to Aj, a pocket watch that I had specially engraved for Dad. The time showed when I was getting married to Damon and on the back you could read 'No matter how much time passes, I'll always be your little girl."
After making sure the pocket watch was positioned I blew a kiss and made my way back to the car, my heart tearing up a little at each step, heartbroken that he couldn't physically be with me today.
I got back to the car and got back in, giving a short smile to Paul and Asher, grabbing each of their hands in mine and pulling them onto my lap happy to still have them in my life. My little piece of dad.
We had finally arrived at the venue where I was getting married. I had chosen his old mansion that almost resembled a castle with it's big stone staircases and grand interior. Asher left in front of us as he was walking Everleigh down the aisle.
I said Hello to everyone backstage with me waiting for the doors to open. Everleigh, Asher and Damon were already out there, all that needed was the rest of the Bridal party to follow. Rose and Kendyn were in front leading, followed by Wolf and Freya's who were our witnesses, Amelia and Annora would each hold the hand of the other twins Woodrow and Wilder. Leora is my flower girl and will be helped by her Uncle Alex. Carter will carry my baby Aurora down with him, Aj and Luke are on ring security and Lloyd will walk in front of me as Paul walks me down the aisle. I was waiting in the side corridor so that Damon wouldn't see me as the others walked out in front of me. I hadn't seen the little ones aside from Rory and Leora so I was hoping that the men had managed to keep my son and his cousins free from any stains on their suits.
"You ready my Dove? It's time." Paul put his hand out for me, helping me get out of my seat.
I gracefully took his hand and he walked me the couple extra steps I needed before I was in front of these big french doors, opening the door to my new life as the wife of a Mortimer.
The doors opened up, all eyes on me, the music filling my ears and the only thing I could think about was 'whatever you do, don't trip'.
Sensing my fear Paul held my hand a little tighter, linking our arms together, whispering in my ear "I got you, you won't fall little Dove. Dove's fly."
With those words of confidence I started to walk down the aisle to my husband. My eyes focused on him and only him. Drowning everyone else's stares and comments, Damon was all I could see and that was enough for me to continue walking.
I finally made it, only a couple more steps but Paul had to give me away before I could stand in front of Damon. Our minister smiled at me and then looked towards Paul.
"Who is giving this woman away to marriage?"
Paul let go of my hand for a second and left my side. Confused, I turned my head to see where he went. He walked back up to me and had traded his suit jacket for his gang leather jacket.
"We do." A chorus of voices from all around replied to the question.
I turned and saw everyone in the gang invited to the wedding stood up sporting their leather jackets giving me away. Even Everleigh and Aunty Annie had dawned their jackets and stood by their husbands.
The words escaped my mouth at how shocked I was by this. My heart warming up seeing them all standing in place of my dad, all with their jackets on and in that moment I knew what it felt like to be loved by a family.
Paul kissed my cheek before stepping to the side to take a seat by Asher and the rest of the parents. Damon took my hand and helped me make the last few steps to settle me in front of him.
I looked past his shoulder as the minister started his wedding speech, I did a double take seeing that all the kids on his side were in superhero costumes. Aj was dressed as Batman, Luke as Spider man, Wilder as the Hulk, Woody as Captain America and finally Lloyd was Iron man.
I lifted my eyes to Damon who clearly caught onto what I had just seen.
"Why are the Avengers at my wedding?" I lifted my brow to Damo who couldn't quite meet my gaze.
"Technically Batman is DC comics, so not the Avengers, there's a clash in the universes there Sunshine." He justified.
"Damon." I warned.
"Wilder spilt juice all over himself and we all panicked so Alex suggested the costumes and if we changed one kid we had to change them all. Don't want one standing out more than the other, wouldn't be fair now would it?" He sassed.
"The others pulled a tantrum didn't they?" I had to bite my lip not to laugh knowing that they had all lost control of the situation.
Damon sheepishly nodded knowing that he was not going to get away with this.
I shook my head with a smile, trying to focus on what the minister was saying, no one seeming to have caught onto our private conversation.
Not before long, I had officially become a Mortimer.
