Tomorrow came.
That tomorrow came harsher than anyone would've expected it to.
The burning light of the sun essentially forced Gabriel out of bed, Nathalie too.
Though the two were in different houses in different locations of Paris, the morning seemed to be just as harsh for both.
"Are you going to work?" A male voice called out for an answer as the dark haired woman brushed her teeth.
"Yes." She mumbled, her mouth full of toothpaste before she leaned over the sink to spit it all out and to wash her face. "I have to make money somehow." She replied once she finished wiping away all the water with her small towel.
"Well..." Jean sat up on the bed. "We could just grab all the money we have now and leave."
"Leave where?" Nathalie laughed while continuing with her morning routine and hence walking out to the kitchen.
"Leave anywhere!" An enthusiastic shout came from her bedroom.
The assistant sighed as she turned the water boiler on.
"Leave anywhere you'd like." Suddenly Jean walked out of the room and closer to where Nathalie was. "Doesn't that sound nice?" He wrapped his arms around her.
"Sounds a little childish and impossible too."
"Why?!"
"Because it is impossible." She yawned. "I can't just leave things behind like that!"
"You know you literally planned to." Jean frowned. "As Mayura your every second sentence is about your escape plan! And so what if I join you too? Do you hate me that much? Don't you think you could tolerate me?"
"It's not that!" She waved him off and moved away so some space would stand in between them.
"What is it then?" The man asked, his arms crossed. "You make perfectly enough money to be fine for a couple months and so do I! Plus, we don't need to go to an expensive country...I-I just want to get away with you-"
"-Armand!" She cut him off. "Can we please not argue about this at the crack of dawn!"
"It is seven in the morning."
"Well without coffee for me it is dawn." Nathalie filled her cup up. "Now move!" She pushed the tall man aside and made her way over to her own couch. "I want to sit in some peace and quite alone."
"Fine." The butler rolled his eyes as he began to make himself a cup of the hot beverage too.
In the meantime the designer in his own Mansion had began to start his morning just like these two.
He had a coffee and sat down at his own desk to look over some stuff; that stuff being the plans and instructions Audrey left him about the gala tonight.
Not only that was concerning his mind, but there was another mission he'd have to attend right after his fashion show; the promised underground he was going to show Mayura
As of right now that place didn't exist and Gabriel the inventor himself didn't know how it could exist.
So, like in most cases where he was confused; he looked to his side and asked Nooroo.
"Do other villains and miraculouses exist?"
"Yes." The butterfly nodded while munching on a cookie which was just about the size of himself.
"Villains who use their miraculouses but are not known to the public are real?" The grey haired man questioned again.
"Yes." His kwami answered in between bites.
"So...my idea of this underground villain stuff wasn't so stupid after all?"
"It wasn't." Nooroo sighed. "But this world is sure dangerous! Not the place you would take a woman at night."
"Worse than the streets of Paris at night?" Gabriel wondered.
"Worse than the Paris catacombs at night!" His friend explained. "It is full of crime! The roads are like labyrinths and the people like serial killers." The small creature took a deep breath in before his next sentence. "If you make it out alive, you have essentially earned your freedom ,but barely anyone can say they have done that. Most people either perish or become prisoners of the underground"
"Seriously?!" The tall man gulped before continuing to sip his morning coffee. "You didn't just make this horror story up?"
"No master." Nooroo shook his head. "This is unfortunately all real life. We as kwamis are not even allowed to talk of it, only if we are obliged to explain."
"Oh." The designer's eyes fell to the floor. "I guess you're obliged to answer all the time."
"I am." Nooroo nodded.
The spell that was put over him had always restricted the little creature's freedom, and though it was horrible, he had gotten used to it by now.
Another thing that seemed horrible was Gabriel's plan.
How could he possibly take Mayura to such a dangerous place?!
Should he simply say he lied and risk being exposed or should he play with his life and safety by staying true to his promise?
The grey haired man couldn't decide.
"Sir!" A woman's voice echoed alongside the creek of the office door.
It was Nathalie.
"Good morning, sir." She smiled as she made her way to her desk, her heels tapping on the marble while she walked.
"Good morning." Gabriel shook his head to forget what troubled him so awfully. "How was you morning, Nathalie?"
The assistant looked up in confusion at the sound of that, her boss never cared this much to ask.
"Fine." She mumbled and sat down on her chair. "It was nothing special."
"Good." The tall man nodded, trying to avoid being akward, but that was a hole he couldn't dig himself out of now.
"How was your morning, sir?" Nathalie repeated his words to which her superior lied:
"Great!" He chuckled. "Fantastic."
A sudden though of an opportunity popped into Natalie's mind; she could've asked why that one night the designer was so utterly worried for her that he drove all the way to Le Grand Paris to inquire Armand, but she didn't.
Maybe demanding a detailed explanation would be too much and could raise some suspicions of the assistant in her boss's eyes.
"Do we have a lot of work today?" The man's words bursted the dark haired woman's thought bubble.
In a hurry she typed her password into the computer.
Her eyes skimmed through each and every incoming email and then shrugged; "Quite a bit of work, sir."
"That's unfortunate." He sighed before taking a deep breath in. "Nathalie." His words made her look up again. "Don't forget about the event tonight, it means a lot to Audrey and if you'd like you can bring a plus one."
"Right." She swallowed hard.
That event almost slipped off of the assistant's mind and now she had to go find an appropriate attire for it.
"I won't forget." She smiled hesitantly.
"Great."
In the meantime the butler had gotten ready himself and drove back to Le Grand Paris.
"Good Morning, Madame." He forced a smile onto his face at the sight of Audrey who simply scoffed;
"You know what to do." She rolled her eyes. "Get everything ready for tonight!"
"Of course." Armand nodded as he now watched his boss make her way towards the kitchen.
"Oh and Jean-!" She turned around just before reaching for the door handle. "You can bring a plus one if you'd like."
With that Audrey had disappeared, leaving behind the tall man to mumble something to himself and then be alarmed at the sudden buzz of his phone.
Nathalie was calling.
"Yes?" He answer while walking the opposite direction of where his boss was to make sure he'd avid anyone overhearing.
"I'm in trouble." The dark haired woman sounded worried on the other end of the call. "I don't have a dress for tonight!"
"Well I'd suggest asking your superior. Doesn't he have a million of those?!" This was Jean's natural response.
"Oh but how would that look!?!" Nathalie whined. "It most definitely isn't fitted to suit me and that whole process takes ages!"
"Would you want me to grab you something from your apartment then?"
"No!" She exclaimed, her face hidden in her hands. "I just shouldn't go to the event."
The assistant's voice had broken and faded away to a clueless mumble.
"You called me to tell me that you aren't going to go?" Jean questioned.
"Perhaps."
"But what about the plan?!" He furrowed his eyebrows.
Nathalie wanted to end the call she had started herself.
It was so pointless, she just wanted to complain to Armand about her hesitations.
However, as moments passed by without her answering, the man took matters into his own hands and broke the silence:
"I'll handle it." He said before hanging up and leaving the assistant to question what could happen next.
Jean decided to make his way to where his boss had disappeared and so he too reached for the handle of the kitchen door.
"Madame." His voice called out to which the loud noise of a coffee machine starting answered.
With a deep breath, Armand stepped further into the room and saw his boss making herself another cup of the hot beverage.
"What?" Her eyes pierced him.
"I would like to ask for a favour." He responded.
"A favour?" She smirked as she repeated his words. "Do elaborate."
