"MAYURA!!" Hawk Moth's loud, yelling voice made both Nathalie and Duusu share a terrified look.
"I should-"
"Go!" The little peacock shouted at her owner who after a short nod immediately said the transformation words and became her supervillain self.
With a deep breath and some slight courage the assistant got up from her hiding spot and made her way to the window.
The closer she got the scarier it all appeared.
Her partner's knocking seemed to never stop, so in order to make him realize she was there, the woman had to pull aside the curtains.
"Enough!" She exclaimed in frustration, however, her angry glare at Hawk Moth was so scary that even he jumped back.
"Ah!" The man gasped as he didn't expect Mayura to show up at all, but after a few seconds of catching his breath and calming down, Hawk Moth once again began:
"The police-"
"-Is after you and I'm your last hope." She finished his sentence. "Yes I know, I heard."
"Oh..." a surprised expression filled the tall man's face.
He was not prepared for any of this and the presence of Mayura made him feel like a flustered, awkward mess.
"S-s-so may I...come in?" He stuttered slowly to which all the woman could do was roll her eyes and open the window.
"T-t-thank you." Hawk Moth once again couldn't get his words out easily.
At least the man could successfully squeeze himself in through the small window and hide in the assistant's apartment until police would hopefully stop searching for him.
The villian was very thankful for that.
He wanted to thank his partner once more, except before he could've uttered anything, she turned her back to him and ignorantly mumbled:
"Just don't stay for too long!"
"I-..." Hawk Moth wasn't sure how to respond because without any further explanation the mysterious lady distanced herself far from him by walking away.
It was clear that she couldn't have possibly heard or cared for what he would say next.
This somehow got the tall man a little annoyed, so without thinking much he hurried after the villain woman and as she was about to close a door to shut him out, the designer stopped it.
"What?!?!" Mayura's voice shrieked to which all the flustered and scared man could respond to was:
"I-...I won't stay long."
"Good." She spat.
"B-b-but-"
"But what?!?!"
"But is there any reason as to why you don't want me staying long?" Now Hawk Moth caught the woman off guard who didn't expect him to say such things "Did I do something that upset you?"
The assistant's eyes widened in shock;
"No." Was all she could mumble. "I-I-I just-...I just don't want you here!"
Once again she had to act as if she'd be repelled in order to make sure she could keep her distance from the tall man, however, because Gabriel could sense negative emotions, he clearly felt something uneasy from the woman in front of him.
"You're mad." He stated, to which Nathalie gasped in an offended manner;
"EXCUSE ME?!"
"I-I-I mean that you're mad at me! N-n-not that you're crazy mad."
"Shut up!" She tried to close the door on the man, again, needless to say it didn't work.
Hawk Moth easily held her back, in fact he pushed the door in the woman's direction so forcefully that Mayura ended up falling inside the room.
"Ow!" She landed on the floor with a loud thud.
Immediately the the designer would've liked to rush to her help and offer his partner a hand, but she furiously shouted at him instead of accepting the kind gesture;
"DONT TOUCH ME!" Mayura screamed almost as if Hawk Moth would've been harassing her. "DONT COME NEAR ME!!"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Well you managed to hurt me anyway!"
"I'm sorry." The tall man's stare fell to the floor in shame, he felt terrible.
Now he felt as if he had ruined almost everything tonight and everyone had something against him.
To put it lightly; it wasn't the best day ever for Gabriel.
At this point all the tall man did was watch as his partner got up from the floor alone, and then pushed him out of the room aggressively, before also slamming the door in his face.
"DONT YOU DARE COME IN!" Mayura's voice was meant to scream, except, suddenly it didn't sound so loud, in fact in sounded weak and shaky.
The woman was crying.
"May?" Hawk Moth asked because he too realized the significant change in his partner's tone.
She no longer had a strong, powerful voice, instead the villian seemed to have been weeping a little behind the door.
"I SAID DONT-"
"Are you crying?" The man without much warning or thought opened the door he was told not to.
It was so easy, Mayura had been barely holding on to it or at all attempting to push her partner back since she had collapsed onto the floor with her teary eyes.
"Don't come near me! Stop it!"
However Hawk Moth didn't listen.
He lowered himself down onto her level and tried his very best to make eye contact with the woman.
He wouldn't have like to physically touch her since she seemed very against his presence to begin with, nevertheless, Gabriel would've liked to talk with her at least.
"May what's wrong now? It's something with me I know but-"
"Oh it's that I hate you!" The assistant unexpectedly shouted once more with a louder type of a voice.
"You're always here and always annoying me! If you have a family go and be with them! Don't come here trying to seek shelter and then tell me all about your wholesome, wonderfully beautiful life with them!"
"I-..." the man became speechless after that.
He simply didn't know what to think, or even say.
"...I-I-"
"You didn't mean to!" Mayura tried to mock his voice. "I know, I know." She continued with her own 'real' tone now: "But you have no idea how painful it is to hear it every time when I have nothing compared to the love you do!"
A heavy cloud of silence fell upon the two in that moment when the blue haired woman finished her sentence.
"Mayura I-"
"I know you don't mean it! I know that you don't realize what you do-"
"That's not what I wanted to say." Gabriel actually had to take a deep breath before he could've admitted to the woman that he very much cared about her and because of that he came to her house not to annoy her, but instead to make sure she wouldn't leave.
The designer felt this would've been an ideal moment to confess those feelings and by that possibility calm down the villian in front of him.
Though unfortunately, when he began speaking, it didn't last long for him to get silenced:
"May, I also came here to tell you-"
"Did you know our kwamis are friends?" Mayura out of nowhere said that.
"Maybe even more than 'friends'."
"What?!" Even Hawk Moth furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Excuse me?"
It was such a random and off topic thing to say, he didn't quite know how to feel.
The tall man became shocked, startled and flustered all at once since he still couldn't express his strong feelings and now the blue haired woman was taking about something completely different which gave Hawk Moth absolutely no opportunity to bring up his thoughts.
"Apparently before we began using them they used to be best friends, or more." The assistant kept speaking, fully unbothered about the visibly awkward state her partner was in.
"A-and my kwmai even had a bunch of other friends like-"
"Aren't kwamis not meant to 'like' each other?" The man suddenly interrupted.
"Well they are allowed to be friends, but you're right, they can't 'love" each other."
"So then how could've our kwamis been 'more than friends' as you said earlier-"
"She's broken." Mayura answered. "And so am I."
Now the blue haired woman tilted her head down, almost as if she would've been embarrassed to admit her sick state.
Though Hawk Moth didn't feel like it would've been an awkward topic, he rather thought of it as depressing, but something important for his partner to talk about.
He was also still in a shocked state from all this information hitting him at once, nonetheless, the designer tried to act calm and simply 'understanding' to his May.
Therefore as much as Gabriel wanted to get his feeling out, the tall man instead listened to the villian in front of him.
"I don't have much time left." Mayura sighed.
"What?"
"This sickness." Her voice began to shake and an unexplainable lump in her throat held the woman back from finishing her sentence.
Hawk Moth too noticed this uneasiness in his partner, it even made him a little more anxious.
He could sense she was unwell both physically and mentally.
Without thinking his arm 'automatically' reached out to pull Mayura a little closer, to make sure she'd feel safe, except, as the man's hand came in contact with his partner's shoulder in hopes of easing her stress, she trembled a little at the feeling of his touch.
Nathalie's eyes widened and stared down at the unexpected gesture of Hawk Moth.
"I-I'm sorry." He apologize. "I-I don't know what I was thinking."
The man pulled back.
