"STAY?!?!" Mayura exclaimed shook. "What do you mean stay?!?!"
"L-like just for a little longer..." he stuttered "with you...here in the apartment or we could go out again-"
"Hawk Moth stop playing games!" She cut him off harshly "None of these 'sweet' actions will make me stay! I'm leaving the country in a matter of months no matter what! You can't hold me back."
"May please. Don't do this to me!"
"You don't do this to me!" She sighed "You're the one making everything much more complicated than it truly should be."
Her expression suddenly seemed to have shifted from frustrated into depressed.
"I only want you to stay." Hawk Moth tried to softly say while he got up from the couch and reached out to pull her closer, but Mayura dodged that.
"Yeah?! And how do you think that makes me feel?!?" Her voice shrieked.
"I-I d-don't know-"
"Hurt!" She spat "You know my feelings under the influence of the peacock miraculous are much more intense and this is making me-"
"Catch feelings?" He suggested without even noticing.
"Shut up!"
"Is it?!" The man gasped as his partner's answer wasn't a 'no'.
She didn't deny it so Hawk Moth was allowed to think whatever was on his mind in that second.
"Are you-"
"GET OUT!" Another unexpected outburst of anger hit her "I ALREADY TOLD YOU TO LEAVE!"
The woman fiercely grabbed the man's hand and tried to push him out the window, but he resisted.
"Mayura please!" Hawk Moth tried his best to keep his balance and stay inside the apartment while attempting to communicate with his partner who didn't appear to be in the chatty mood "Don't make me go as you're about to confess-"
"I wasn't going to confess anything!" Her cheeks blushed purple while she kept pushing him, nevertheless her whole face slowly turned pink.
"May I can sense it! I know what you're feeling!"
"You don't know shit!" She pushed on him harder "You're just a-"
"-worthless and useless piece of shit, yes I know but please tell me I'm right!"
"Right with what?!?!" Her ill eyes glared at him with a glow that even intimidated Hawk Moth.
In those moments she truly seemed to be furious.
"RIGHT WITH WHAT YOU BASTARD!?!"
"That you have a certain type of feelings for me!"
"Yeah, HATE!"
"Mayura please-" he took her wrists into his hand and without even trying too hard pushed the woman down onto the floor so she wouldn't be punching him anymore.
However this made the woman get pinned against the ground while her partner was on top of her, staring down innocently.
"Hawky stop it!" She cried trying to get him off, but that was way too impossible.
He easily overpowered her.
"Mayura please calm down for a second." The man whispered while leaning closer down to her, one of his hands taking her blushing face into his palm and waiting until she would eventually focus on him.
"May listen, I know you hate me right now and want me gone, so is there anything you'd like to say before I let go of you and then leave?"
She didn't answer, the bird lady only shook her head with tears falling out of her shut eyes.
"May-"
"Please just-...let go of me! I'll tell you everything b-but this is too-"
"-much." Hawk Moth's hands let his partner's wrists slip away and like that he got off of her.
"I'm sorry, I'll go now."
"Wait!" She unexpectedly grabbed onto his suit.
"Wait I-...uhm-...don't go."
"What?" The man turned back feeling the weak tug and voice of Mayura hold onto him "Why?"
"I-..." she hesitated a little, trying to look away to hide her blush and only very quietly mumbling: "I want you to stay."
"STAY?!?!" Now he acted shook. "Me? Stay? With you? Now?"
"Mhm." A tiny smile reassured "I'd like that...so we can...talk things through."
"Mayura I-..."
"Oh what now?!?! Now you lost interest or what?!?!"
"No." He laughed "that's not at all what I wanted to say. It was simply that I'm glad you don't want to push me away."
"Oh Mothy." The woman rolled her eyes, her expression switching back to happy. Like that telling the man that there was no more need for 'talking it through', they just did.
"Stop with the chitchat" Her voice brought him back "pull me up instead."
"Of course." He did as asked. "Just so we aren't on bad terms."
"Right. We aren't."
With that the woman walked beside her partner to be able to close the window they'd left open and then turn to him while leaning one shoulder against the wall.
"So..." Mayura hummed to which the man looked up.
"Yes?" He questioned.
"What would you like to...do?"
"I-uhm-I-...I didn't think this through to be honest." Hawk Moth awkwardly chuckled realizing that with his every move he had lured May into thinking he'd want something from her, when in reality all he wanted was to apologize, nothing more.
However now their situation seemed to have a romantic air to it and Mayura could sense it too, except she didn't appear bothered by it. Quite opposite.
Hawk Moth sensed she liked it.
The man gulped know he couldn't go into any sort of affair like that, he had a wife who he loved and a child with her, but the sparkling pink eyes of his partner didn't seem to get repelled by that.
"May-" Hawk Moth said as she had suddenly gotten a lot closer "May I-...how about we watch a show!"
"A show?" Her alluring eyes blinked confused.
"I-yes! You know me and my wife always loved those stupid romantic films where the plot is soooo obvious you can guess what will happen instantly."
"Oh." Her voice faded as the man had mentioned his special woman.
It somehow always got to her, but as of right now that's exactly what Gabriel needed, for Mayura to back away.
"So can I pick the movie?" His innocent sounding voice brought her back. "Or would you like to?"
"You pick." She cut him off coldly "I don't usually watch that stuff."
"O-okay." Hawk Moth smiled despite sensing that she didn't want his company anymore, it was clear that by mentioning his wife, Mayura had instantly gotten offended, but the man didn't want to make it obvious that he knew.
So he simply played along.
"I know the best movie which always makes me cry!"
She didn't respond, she didn't even care.
The woman was looking in a completely different direction.
"Titanic! It's great!" Hawk Moth cheered to get her attention.
No luck.
The man sighed.
He had to quit with the acting so he could make sure she was alright.
"May?" He gently tapped her shoulder. "May I'm sorry for-"
"-Don't apologies!" She sprung around, wanting to hide her sadness with a smile, but nothing, it wasn't working.
Even her smile was broken, so Mayura shook her head and said:
"Let's just-...w-watch the-"
"May I know you don't want to." His words again got to her.
They made the woman feel in such strong way barely anything else could.
The tears became visible and her body shook when Hawk Moth's hands took a rest upon her shoulders "I know how you feel." His voice made her sob.
"Oh fuck you! Fuck you for knowing soo damn much." Mayura fell into tears and almost down onto the floor, except Gabriel couldn't allow himself to watch her hurt this much, so before she would've fallen, he pulled her into his direction and like that caused the woman to fall against his chest.
"I'm sorry." Hawk Moth whispered against her surprisingly soft hair "It's my fault."
"It's mine too! Well-...the peacock miraculous to be exact."
"It must be awful." His whispers kept comforting her "I can't even imagine what it would be like having mood swings all the time."
"Yeah, such passionate feelings. It's exhausting."
"I'm sorry May." His thumb wiped away her crystal tears while his other hand got lost in the villain's hair.
It was surprisingly therapeutic even for him, plus seeing the tiny smile whenever he'd brush his hand down her hair made Hawk Moth never want to stop caressing her.
"We'll find a way to fix it." His gentle, soothing voice reassured.
However Mayura still sobbed.
"Please, there is no way to fix it."
Her tears kept continuously flowing down.
Her breath uneven, her body shaking, except when her partner's hand would lay on her back, then she'd stop and calm down for a few seconds, but the 'passionate emotions' of the peacock miraculous had too much influence.
Mayura knew her tragic state was unfixable.
No one could help.
Not even the man who's chest she was sobbing upon, who was running his hands through her hair, telling her all kinds of sweet things.
Even that, even he was too weak to save her from the damage that the peacock miraculous caused to Mayura.
There would be no way out.
