"F-fine." Mayura whispered while rolling her eyes in an annoyed manner to contradict
the fact that she was so madly flustered by him. "I guess I'll stay." Spat the woman sarcastically.

"G-great!" An enthusiastic voice emerged from the villian's previously trembling voice. "Thank you for staying." He said now in a much calmer tone, and with less of a smile than before.

The two glanced at each other. Their eyes meeting for a split second before breaking away to ease the rising tension that could be felt every second they looked at one another.

Hawk Moth cleared his throat after a few looks, by which he got a longer stare from the woman.

"What?" She questioned, her eyebrows frowning in an upset way towards him.

"N-nothing."

"Why did you just do that then?"

"Do what?" The man asked cluelessly.
He had no idea that Mayura was referring to him clearing his throat, he thought it didn't make much of a noise, but unknowingly he was wrong.
"Did I say something?" Hawk Moth laughed awkwardly, being convinced that the woman was the one who didn't know what she was talking about.

"Don't you remember? You did that-" she attempted to create the same sound, except something of a cough could be heard when the villain accidentally choked on her own spit while trying to recreate the man's noise.

"Woah." Hawk Moth chuckled "I'm pretty sure I didn't do that." He watched as she struggled to catch her breath again.

It took quite a bit, and a few irritated tears until Mayura could speak again, but once she was over it, the woman frowned at her partner even more annoyed than before.

"T-tha-...Thank a lot." Said she, hissing the words.

Hawk Moth could sense that she had been fed up, both her facial expressions and her emotions told him so.
Despite it, the villain wasn't sure of how to get her out of this offended state and instead into a rather happier one.

"Well..."He began, the man's lips curving into a smirk carefully as he spoke "If you would be able to forgive me for making such a horrendous sound, and if you would be able to spare some time for 'us', then maybe I could turn that mean frown of yours into a cute little laughter."

"What now?!" Mayura spat.

"I was only suggesting that-"

"You want to take me on a date?!?!"

"What?!?!" Hawk Moth gasped "I never said that!" The villain argued "Where did you even gather that from?!?!"

"You said you wanted to spend time with me and make me happy. So a date!"

"No! It's simply a-a-an act of kindness!"

"An act of kindness?" Mayura laughed hysterically "Yeah right, tell that to somebody other than me because I'm not buying those lies."

"B-but I'm not lying! I-I really didn't want to take you out-"

"Oh look at you stuttering." She chuckled "You're just soooooo flustered that you can't even hide it!"

"What? No! Shut up!"

The moth man turned away from his partner as he indeed got quite shaky and a blush spread all over his face.
He didn't know what to think.
All of a sudden this woman who's real identity he didn't even know had him feeling such feelings which only his previous wife could evoke in him.
Admiration and desire which haven't felt so burningly strong like they did the second that Hawk Moth heard the woman's giggle.

"Oh you're a funny thing Hawky." She came up behind him and placed her hand on his back.
Making the man jump as he felt an electric shock where her hand was placed.
"You act so tough and mean when really you're just a-...just a little emotional lovesick mess."

"Ow!" He whined "Don't say that!"

"But it's true. The more I am getting to know you the more I realize how you're nothing of what you seem to be. You're not this big, strong, tall, scary, evil creature, instead you're so incredibly sensitive, romantic and loyal."

"I-"

"It's no secret Mothy, you're a good villain. You deserve the miraculous to get back that girl you want so badly. I bet that she was wonderful and enchanting because she sure put a spell on you."

"W-why d-do y-you s-say-"

"Because she's always on you mind." Mayura sighed, her expression dropped down to the floor with hopeless tears beginning to form in her eyes "a-and y-you'd do anything in order to get her b-back-"

"May are you crying?" Hawk Moth noticed as he took his hand and gently lifted up the face of the bird lady with his hand. "What happened? Why are you so sad all of a sudden?"

"I-...it's all because of this stupid miraculous that I feel such terribly strong emotions!" She cried, throwing her hands around the man's neck and like that pulling herself close to him. "M-my miraculous is broken you know, a-and because of that the power of emotions work a little too well, even on the holder, who in this case is me. So whenever something bothers me even just a little bit I usually end up in tears."

"Oh, so this bothered you?"

"Well-...I-I happened to feel the lack of love in my life get highlighted by it."

"I see." He lifted his other had to carefully wipe away his partner's tears.
And after earning a tiny, faint smile from the bird lady, Hawk Moth continued "So you don't have a significant other at the moment?"

"Do I look like I do?" She scoffed, rolling her eyes sarcastically "Please."

"You're a very good looking woman May."

"Yeah alright I can get someone for a night but that's also only because I am Mayura, otherwise as my real self no one has any interest in me! I-I don't k-know what I'm doing w-wrong or w-why my life is s-so plain b-but-"

"Oh you sweet soul." He cut her off.
The man's hands tightly holding her face in his palm. "I'm sure you'll find your one and only soon." Hawk Moth reassured before breaking their eye contact with no warning and suddenly looking into the obscurity of the afternoon.
"Until then would you mind coming with me on a little adventure?" He asked with a sweet and enchanting voice.

"Adventure?" Mayura questioned, mesmerized.

"To cheer you up."

"So not a date?"

"No May." The man chuckled "Only a friendly late afternoon walk."

"Alright."

With that, both nodding in agreement and their hands grabbing hold of one another, the two villains jumped onto another rooftop from where Hawk Moth led the way.

He took a few turns right to see the Eiffel Tower by their side, then some higher jumps and lower ones which lead onto smaller routes, but eventually they arrived at an abandoned hotel top which looked just ideal for their 'not a date'.

"This?" She asked "the magic place?"

"I never said it was magic. I simply wanted to make you smile."

"Right."

They took a seat by the edge of the building.
Their feet hanging down towards the not so busy road, rather a small street on which a few sketchy conversations and interactions happened.

The air became cold as the sky's greyness turned darker and darker, slowly allowing the night to fully settle in and for the stars to be their only source of light alongside the moon.

Mayura shivered a little as she felt a bit of cold wind slide along her face, this caused her body to accidentally brush along her partner's.
However to her surprise he didn't shift away, instead Hawk Moth looked down beside himself to spot the woman's blue face turning purple from the cold, so after a slight chuckle, he said:

"Do you need my jacket May?"

"Oh I wouldn't want you freezing."

"That doesn't matter." Hawk Moth stated while taking the top upper layer of his costume off and slowly laying it upon the shoulders of Mayura. "As long as you don't get a cold."

"But what if you do?"

"I'll be fine."

"You better be! I don't want to be fighting those stupid kids alone because you're on sick leave."

"That won't happen" he laughed, admiring the sour expression of the woman beside him "I usually don't give up so easily. You know that too."

"I do." The bird lady sighed, getting lost in those melancholy thoughts again.

She stared away from the man next to her and onto the road underneath her feet, observing every little lamp, listening carefully to all the door slamming noises and the shouts of random strangers, imagining all the lives of those whom she didn't at all know. Then Mayura focused back onto the villain sitting so daringly close to her, he was glaring down at her with those lavender eyes, even his lips were moving, he was saying something, except she couldn't make up what it was. Nathalie was way too deep in her own thoughts.

To be continued-...
