Part 2

"Just place the boxes there. Yeah, there. Thanks so much," I expressed my gratitude to the workers from the moving company. I paid them, and they left the area. "So how am I going to do this?" I asked myself as I look around. I looked at the kitchen then spotted something unfamiliar; it resembled that of a face. Shocked, I quickly averted my eyes while trying to look as calm as possible. I wanted to make sure I saw right, so I discreetly took a look around the house again, but now, the figure was fully clear.

A man around his early thirties was walking towards me with a curious look on his face. I tried my best to pretend that I didn't see him and took a seat on the couch. He had very distinct features. A sharp jawline; mesmerizing, emerald eyes; full lips; peachy skin; and messy, light brown hair. He stood in front of me and observed my appearance. I looked at the garden outside beside the television that was in front of me to avoid eye contact. He reached out for my face, but his touch was intangible.

Not being able to stay still under his stare, I stretched out my hands, laid my head on the couch, and sighed deeply. The sound echoed throughout the empty house. He continued to observe me closely as if he was leaning in for a kiss, making me very uncomfortable, so I abruptly stood up and walked right through his body. For the rest of the day, I unpacked my belongings and cleaned while the man watched me with amusement.

I followed my regular schedule every day. Later on, I understood why the tenants moved out because of the 'weird atmosphere'. The man followed me everywhere around the house and loomed over me, making it impossible to concentrate. Sometimes he would just watch me in complete silence as I did my work. When he finally spoke, his voice surprised me; he has a very husky voice.

He'd talk to himself, or sometimes even talk to me even though I never answered. There were times when I'd wake up in the middle of the night to see him sleeping next to me, I almost exposed myself by letting out a sound of shock. There were also times he appeared while I was showering. It bothered me intensely, but nonetheless, I had to keep calm and carry on. It was only once or twice so it's alright.

Although he followed me around in the house, he never went outside as I did. According to the knowledge I acquired from other ghosts before, when they die in a certain spot, they stay there forever. They absolutely cannot leave. I thought of it as a blessing, a getaway from him where I can have some time by myself without worrying about getting caught.

. . .

"What are you thinking about?" Janna asked me.

"Nothing..." I glanced at her and smiled.

"But you've been stirring that empty coffee cup and looking outside for a while now," she pointed out, and I quickly put the spoon down. "You seem a bit frazzled. What happened?" she asked, worried. "Is it Lorie?" she squeezed my hand.

"No, it's not her," I answered. "It's something else but don't worry. It's nothing big," I smiled and squeezed her hand back. I don't know how I'll continue to pretend he was not there. I have to live there for most of my life.

"Would you like some cake?" Janna asked, looking at the menu.

"Sure," I smiled. "But don't take bites of mine when you're finished with yours," I narrowed my eyes at her.

"That was one time! I was really hungry," she defended herself.

"It was so not one time! It was five Janna! Five!" I exclaimed with my arms crossed across my chest.

"Alright, alright. Fine," she laughed.
