🏮 | The Showdown for Hogwarts
The sickly green curse was, fortunately, not directed towards them but towards the group of Death Eaters. A loud yelp followed by a shout of 'Severus!' and everything resumed as if nothing happened. Ginny swallowed hard. Voldemort had killed Snape, who had gained the ownership of the Elder wand by the murder of Dumbledore.
That meant. . .
"I am, now, your King, the owner of the Elder wand!"
At his pronunciation, the fighting stopped. Every single breathing person on the grounds looked in confusion for none had been observing the trio.
"I really thought you could do better, Tom." Harry's silent voice resonated throughout the area, sending bizarre chills down Ginny's spine even if it was not directed towards her.
Voldemort's eyes blazed, fury held within them as he pointed his wand at Harry. "Confringo!"
"Protego!"
The shield that Ginny had managed to conjure nullified the spell and the battle began. It was two of the blazing Light against one of the withering Dark. Everything else faded to the background as lightning flashed against the sky. Harry rose his palm, a green aura emanating around it.
Spontaneously, an inferno of a huge serpent rose from the end of the elder wand: the fiendfyre curse. For an instant, Ginny thought she saw disbelief flash in Voldemort's eyes before he quickly replaced his wand.
"Aguamenti!"
Harry let lose his power at the same time as the Weasley's water charm, both unifying to form a suitable opponent for the serpent. It dissipated into nothing, but weakened both Harry as well as Voldemort for the substantial use of power and magic.
And that was the advantage that Ginny needed.
Placing her right foot forward, she started firing spells rapidly as if she were in an aiming tournament where the archer was told to hit a tired target with successive arrows. "Reducto! Immobulus! Stupefy!" Voldemort managed to block them but there always came a time when the human body could take no longer. "Expelliarmus!" With one last flourish of her wand and one last spell spoken, it was Voldemort's turn to be armless.
The Dark Lord fell to the ground just as the other Eaters started surrendering or Disapparating away. Cheers of the members of the Order filled her ears but she kept going; she walked to Voldemort, her eyes blazing with withheld amount of fury at all the damage the man had caused in order to get his hand on the kingdom.
"You are defeated, Voldemort. It was a yew against yew and yours let you down because it saw no potential in capturing a kingdom against the wishes of the people."
"Y-you are a girl. . ."
"The war changed me a lot, yeah. I hope you noted the sarcasm."
Voldemort sighed in repentance. With his yew wand lying far away from him, the Elder wand not obeying him perfectly and no sword, he had no escape. Nevertheless, Ginny kept her wand trained at him.
"The elder wand was never Snape's." Ginny felt someone brush her shoulder: Harry. "It belonged to those who disarmed its previous owner. You had the very same misconception about my father. It just shows you never learnt from the mistakes of your past.
"The wand never had its allegiance towards my father. Dumbledore and my father had merely been acquaintances, dueling each other for the fun of it. It was a prophecy that spread a false rumor about him disarming the greatest wizard of all time.
"Believing that, you chose to kill my parents to get a hold on the wand's allegiance. How could it be your ally when it was never my father's?
"Even now, Malfoy was the one who disarmed Dumbledore, not Snape. You fell for the King's traps of setting a feasible duplicate and killed your own Death Eater in lust for power.
"The wand would not fight its owner and I daresay, I am the owner of the Elder wand." Unified gasps were heard from the crowd but Voldemort was keenly listening so, Harry went on. "I disarmed Draco before battling you. It was all a plan and we were pawns of Dumbledore's great chess game of Life."
It took time for realization to sink in but when it did, the evil man's voice was nothing more than a mere whisper. "Kill me."
"Pardon?"
"I don't wish to surrender. I will never surrender until my last breath but with my wand's allegiance gone as well—" His dark eyes settled on Ginny. "I don't see the point in living."
Glances were exchanged and Harry's name was quoted once again. However, this time, he closed his eyes in concentration. The way he clenched his fists and set his jaws spoke volumes of the the sheer amount of concentration required to summon the powers of the Earth.
Ginny felt the ground below her crack and move, almost throwing her off balance. There was a strike of lightning followed by the rumble of thunder and the Earth rose from its core, gobbling the entirety of the Dark Wizard. Witnessing that made bile rise in her throat but she gulped it down with tears of happiness.
Ironically, just as all the Death Eaters were tied up, the sky started crying as well. There was no thunder or lighting and there was no saying that it was not Harry's doing either. He was kneeling by Dumbledore, the rain water mixing up with tears of grief as it fell down his cheek.
After exchanging looks with the rest of her teammates and Sirius, everyone joined in around Harry, providing warmth in the torrential downpour. As every member of the Order stood huddled together for warmth, for celebration and for mourning, Ginny's eyes locked with Ron's. It was finally over and the two of them were both alive and well, save a few bruises that could easily be patched up by Neville and Luna.
"Ah, man. That was one hell of a fight that you gave!" Ron clapped her on the shoulder. Suddenly, a million pairs of eyes were on her, making her feel overwhelmed. She had been battling her head off before and had had no problem with dealing with attention but now that there was no maniac to defeat, she found it a rather hard task to keep her head up.
Sensing her awkwardness, Remus hurried to reassure her. "It is quite all right. You just proved to the world that their conception of gender was wrong. From henceforth, every women must have a say in what they want to learn and men should be taught defense as well."
The members of the Order of the Phoenix shouted in approval, lightening her heart.
"Am I glad that I don't have to be the only one stuck with Nargles? Yes!" Hermione exclaimed, giving the younger girl a hug. Luna joined in as well.
"Well, you have two of us now, Hermione," the blonde smiled.
"Redemption is in order for some of the Eaters." Sirius sighed with a jab of his thumb at the mass of arrested Death Eaters seated near a tree that seemed to have been restored from the damage inflicted to it. "Ah, you have quite the hand for Herbology, Neville."
"You patched the tree?" Ginny asked, incredulously. Neville grinned, turning red.
"Yeah, and I hope to patch every vegetation here. With the help of Harry, of course."
Harry, who had been in deep thought until then, looked up at the sound of his name. His eyes met Ginny's before he turned strangely shy. "Er—I was pretty much convinced I fell for a guy, y'know?" Rounds of laughter succeeded his declaration but he did not seem bothered. Ginny could practically see Ron scowling behind her back. She decided to talk to him later as Harry had asked a question of priority. "May I, at the very least, know your real good name?"
The girl laughed with a content heart and a kindred spirit of passion, "Oh, yeah. I am Weasley. Ginny Weasley."

Her Blazing Spirit has come to an end! I think I've figured out the reason for my real writer's block and I hope to work on it better from henceforth. I'm thankful for this story to help me out on that. (Character development much?)
I wanted to show the real character of Ginny. Hence, there was no real romance in this book.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this story! Please do comment! It really inspires me!
Thanks a lot for your lovely support! You have Ginny's thanks as well!
Miyoko xoxo
