•||Ch14: Meeting with many afflictions||•

||Mirha POV||

I was trying to look natural but the sadness and the dullness in my eyes were not helping me. I picked my bag from the bed and walked to the door.

I put my hand on the knob of the door but stopped. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

I have to be strong and face him.

I opened my eyes and exhaled slowly. I opened the door and walked out of the room. I sighed in relief when I didn't hear any noise which was not something new for me but I was happy he left.

The whole night I spent thinking over the phone call that I got. I was curious about that woman who wanted to meet me.

I stopped when I saw a plate of pancakes on the table near the door. My stomach growled loudly by the sight of this. I picked it and ate them while walking out of the house with the plate in my hand.

I saw Danial and groaned silently. I looked at him with a tight smile when he looked at me.

“Where do you want to go?” He asked.

“X2,” I said getting in the car with pancakes in my hands.

He also climbed in the car and started the car. I enjoyed my pancakes and plugged earphones.

“Ma'am?” I heard Danial calling my name.

I looked at him and removed one earphone.

“Which branch?” He asked.

I told him which branch. I was getting bored so I thought of some fun.

“Danial?” I called him, softly.

“Yes, ma'am!”

“Have you ever seen a monkey?” I asked him with an innocent smile.

He looked at me through rear mirror. He seemed a little shock but quickly hid it and looked at me like one of us was stupid here.

“Yes, ma'am!” He said, slowly and looked back at the road.

“You know then how beautiful monkey is?” I asked biting my nails.

“Yes, ma'am!”

“You also know that his smile is more beautiful?”

“Huh?” He asked like he was not believing I called monkey's smile beautiful.

“What happened?” I asked, more innocently.

I was trying my best to hide my laugh. I wanted to laugh at him poor face.

“Nothing, ma'am. Yes, monkey do have beautiful smile,” He said emphasizing on beautiful.

“Then you agree with me that monkey have more beautiful smile then you. No?” I asked relaxing on the seat and bit my lips.

“Yes! Huh? What? No. No. No!” He said, quickly.

His face completely turned red which made me busted out laughing at his poor face.

“That means you are agree!” I said and laughed more.

He sped the car a little. I coughed trying my best not to laugh more.

“Have you ever seen donkey bec--,”

I heard him groaning which made me giggle. I wanted to irritate him more but stopped myself.

I was missing my university and all my friends. I was taking off from the university because I didn't want answer their questions.

I looked out of the window at the sky which was getting dark. It was going to rain anytime soon.

My heart was beating rapidly after seeing dark sky because I hated this storm and thunder.

I didn't know when the car stopped because I was lost. Remembering that dreadful night which was making shivers.

“Ma'am?”

I jumped on my seat and looked forward at the Danial. I looked around and noticed we reached. I hurriedly climbed out of the car and rushed in the restaurant.

I quickly went to the washroom and looked in mirror. I tried to cool down myself and steady my breath.

I washed my face with cold water dried it with tissue. I redid my makeup and ran my fingers in my hairs. I was trying to look natural.

I exited from the washroom and to the receptionist. I told her the name under which the reservation was.

She took me to the table where an old lady was already sitting. When I stood near the table she greeted me.

“I know you are confused about who I am,” She said once we sat down.

I nodded my head because I was confused. I wanted to know her because she seemed familiar.

“I am Ali’s mother. Biological mother,” She informed me, slowly.

I nodded my head with a frown.

Ali.

Ali.

Who is Ali?

I tried to think who was Ali then it clicked. My head snapped up to looked at her. I looked at with wide eyes and gasped.

“Arash..!”

“Shocking! I know!” She said, laughingly.

I could sense the sadness in her voice. There was also hurt in her voice. I opened my mouth then closed it again.

The waiter came to take our order. We gave him our orders quickly and quietly.

“How? Why? What?” I tried to ask her but sentences weren't formed.

I stopped and sighed when she smiled at me. A sad smile. There was a longing look in her eyes.

“Ali was five when this happened. His father distant himself from us and spent most of his night out on the business trips. Business trips for me and Arash,” She laughed on the last sentence and paused for a second but continued again.

“One day his father came back but not alone. He came back with another lady. With his wife. His second wife.”

She stopped. I didn't have any words. I didn't know what to say and how to console her. She was blankly stared at the table with unreadable emotion.

“What could I do that time? Nothing. So I accept them with open arms but deep down I jealous. I never wanted to share him with anyone. And today I also don't want to share him. I hate to see them together.”

“You know what the worst part is? That his second wife is none other than my best friend. Who was orphan and whose husband died one year before.”

Her tears were slowly by slowly streaming down but she quickly wiped them and gave me smile. I put my hand on hers.

“I never questioned them that why they did this to me. Because I accepted it and thought it was my fate. And still think it is my fate.”

“After one month later she started talking to me naturally and everytime apologized. We didn't have hate relationship instead we both started to live like sisters. Arash was also getting attached to her like he was with me. But his father never talked to me in that one month. He ignored me like I wasn't exist.”

“One day I was in the kitchen and by accidently I forgot to turn the stove off. The gas spread in the kitchen. Naila had flu that day and she didn't know the gas was on.”

“When she lit the match stick the kitchen blasted with fire. I was in the lawn when I heard the blast. Everyone rushed to the kitchen and saw fire everywhere. I swear it was an accident.”

Her voice wavered and she was on the edge of crying.

“However, all thanks to Allah. Arash’s father save her. She was not in conscious that time. Her hairs were burnt half and her back also burnt a little. But nothing serious.”

“When we knew that it happened because gas was on and maid told Arash’s father that I was the last one before Naila in the kitchen. He blamed me. How couldn't he blame because according to him and the world I took revenge. Revenge because they married behind my back,” she laughed, bitterly.

“When Naila came to conscious, she tried to take all blame on her carelessness. She tried to take a stand for me but Arash's father didn't listen her.”

“That day was my last day. He kicked me out of his house. Out of Arash's life. Out of everyone's life. Without divorce. I am still his wife but he never accept me.”

I stared at her with tearful eyes. I wiped my tears and squeezed her hand.

“I don't know have any words.” I whispered looking down at our hands.

Our order arrived and we ate in silence. Between eating I glance up at her few times. After eating she pulled something out of her bag.

She asked for my hand. I gave her my hand hesitantly. She put pair gold bangles in my hands.

“This is a gift from your mother in law,” She said giving me smile and look of not to reject.

I smiled at her and looked down at my hands. I thanked her and put them in my bag.

“Promise me, Mirha. You will never leave Arash alone. Please give him happiness which he deserved. I don't how he is and what kind of a man he is now but please forgive him if he ever did something wrong with you. Please make him turn to the right and happy path.”

She requested me softly. I didn't have a heart to reject her request. I knew which type of a man Arash was now. I nodded my head slowly and promised her that I would make him right man.

She looked down at her phone and quickly stood up. She had an important work to do so she left giving me her blessings. I also her address.

I was also standing up when I saw Saif. He smiled at me when he noticed me. He gave me side hug.

“What are you doing here?” He asked.

“Whatever we do in restaurants!” I said and giggled.

He chuckled and was about opened his mouth but cut off.

“Mirha!” I heard Arash voice.

I tensed up and turned and looked at him with wide eyes. He looked beside me from me then at Saif’s hand which was on my back and smirked. His eyes held rage and angerness.

“I think we should go now,” Arash said and grabbed my hand.

He pulled me with him and I followed him. His grip was tight on my wrist. I tried to pull but he was not leaving.

I let him to pull me with him because I didn't want to make any scene. He opened his car door and pushed me inside. When he closed the door the clouds thundered loudly which made me jumping in fear.

I hugged myself and Arash climbed in the car. Suddenly, the rain started pouring hard. Arash started the car in anger.

I was whimpering whenever the clouds were thundered. I was trying my best to control my tears.

Suddenly, my forehead hit with the dashboard making me hissed in pain. I sat straight and put my hand on my forehead. I turned to Arash who was staring ahead.

“Get. Out!” He said gritting his teeth.

I looked at him with disbelief and wide eyes. I swallowed.

“Arash..?” I whispered in disbelief.

“I. Said. Get. Out. From. My. Car!” He yelled, loudly.

I jumped on his loud voice. The tears which I was controlling were not streaming down now. When I didn't climbed out of the car Arash opened his door and climbed out.

He came to my side and opened the door and pulled me out. Both of us was getting wet in the rain. He pushed me away from him and closed the door.

I watched him with shivering lips as he got in the car and drove away. Leaving me all alone in the heavy rain.

I hugged myself and looked around. No one was here. No car. No human. No one. I was all alone.

I put my hands on my ears when the clouds thundered loudly. My salty tears mixed with the rain. I sobbed and tried to block the thunder sound.

I turned around and saw two yellow headlights coming my way. The horn sound was heard fadedly.

Before I understood what it was my eyes got closed and darkness took me.
