18: The Daycare Attendant

Gregory smiled. "Thanks!"

Freddy then spoke over the Fazwatch. "Hello, Helpy!"

Helpy gasped and smiled wide. "Freddy? Is that you? How are you feeling?"

"I am doing much better, despite being on reduced power. However, like Gregory has told you, he is trapped inside The Pizzaplex and needs your help." Freddy said.

Helpy hummed. "Wellll! We could stay here until the doors open!"

Gregory shook his head. "No, no, no. VERY bad idea."

"Why?" Helpy asked, tilting his head.

Gregory rubbed the back of his neck. "Well...Monty, Roxy, and Chica are kinda after me. Something's wrong with them. They're going crazy!"

Helpy's eyes went wide and he looked out the window, seeing Glamrock Chica still roaming around the bottom of the lobby to try and find Gregory. "S...She has red eyes...w-what's wrong with her?"

"We...do not know." Freddy said. "But me and you should be able to handle it once Gregory is out. For now, we have to keep him safe."

Helpy was still looking a little heartbroken, but he nodded, facing Gregory. "O-Okay! I'll do whatever I can!"

Gregory smiled again, and Freddy spoke. "Thank you, Helpy. I will meet you two in the Daycare. It is one of the most safest attractions in The Pizzaplex."

Helpy smiled and nodded. "Yeah! And The Daycare Attendant is super duper nice!"

Gregory grumbled. "The Daycare? Really? Do I look 5?"

"I apologize, Gregory. But it is the only place I can think of. Besides, it is not JUST for toddlers." Freddy explained.

Gregory was silent before shrugging. "Yeah, I guess so. Cya there, Freddy."

Helpy smiled before the two headed out of the gift shop and into the main lobby, where Chica's head perked when she heard footsteps.

"No more games..." She growled, turning around, but seeing no one.

Helpy and Gregory hid behind a photo booth before quickly running towards the Daycare Entrance, using Helpy's full access to The Pizzaplex to get inside.

They came across a rather peaceful and shiny hallway. Gregory seemed a bit amazed, having never actually been inside the FULL Daycare. He then noticed painted walls of characters he saw in the gift shop.

'Sunnydrop' and 'Moondrop'. At least that was the name of the candy they were advertising.

Gregory stopped and looked at Helpy. "Uhhh, who are they?"

"Huh? Oh! That's The Daycare Attendant! He looks over the children and runs the Daycare!" Helpy explained.

Gregory tilted his head. "Uhhh, then who's the second one?"

"Oh! Hehe, forgot to mention! Sun and Moon are the same person! Or rather, two different characters in the same body! The Daycare Attendant is a two-in-one animatronic! When the lights are on, he's Sun!"

Gregory nodded. "And when the lights are off, he's Moon!"

"Yeah! Exactly!" Helpy said before they entered the true Daycare...seeing a rather creepy pair of golden statues for Sun and Moon. At least, they were creepy to Gregory. Helpy was more focused on the entrance to the actual daycare for the children. A slide with a sign that said 'SLIDE INTO FUN!'

Then, Freddy spoke up. "Gregory. Helpy. I am unable to reach you. Check he Daycare security desk for a security badge and then let me in."

Gregory turned to Helpy. "Can you let him in?"

"I would! But, uhh, heh! I can't access security!" Helpy said.

Gregory was about to complain, but then recalled what had JUST happened a while ago with the other animatronics. "...fair."

Helpy then walked over to the slide, and slid in. "WEEEE!!!"

Gregory laughed. "Hey, wait up!" He said with another laugh, sliding in. He may have been a little too old for this, but he was alone and sometimes? It was ok to be stupid.

They then crashed into a ballpit, the two of them laughing. Gregory then started traveling around the GIANT ballpit before seeing a fake tower high up in the wall, with fake clouds surrounding it to give the impression that it was in the sky.

He then looked at The Daycare itself. It was bright and colorful, filled with soft ground, and all kinds of things for little kids to go crazy on.

Helpy giggled. "I sometimes like to come here with the other kids! It's very fun! Even if I AM a little old for it!"

"Hey, I don't blame you! It actually does look kinda-" Gregory's eyes then widened when he saw someone on the tower.

The animatronic from the poster. Sun. His face had a giant smile, pure white eyes, and triangles meant to represent rays of a sun all around his head. And finally, he seemed to be wearing a jester like outfit, with jingle bells around his wrists.

Sun spun around on his 'stage' and cried out. "HOO HOO HOO!!!" He exclaimed before taking a dive deep into the ballpit.

Gregory gulped and quickly backed up. "He's in here with us! Let's go back!"

"Hey, Gregory! It's ok! Sun's harmless! Lemme talk to him!" Helpy smiled before his smile disappeared. "Just, uhh, don't have Moon come out."

"Wait, why-" Gregory said as he followed Helpy deeper into the ballpit towards 'shore', but that's when Sun popped out, holding the two of them up.

"Helloooo! New friends! You're sure up late! Are we having a slumber party?! Where are all of the rest of you?" Sun asked at super speed before setting them down on the ground.

Helpy giggled. "Hi, Sunny!"

Sun looked down at Helpy, but instead of being happIER to see him...he just looked normal. He picked up Helpy, humming. "Weird! I don't recall you! Recall, recall, recall! Hehehe! Such a big word!"

Helpy's face became confused. "You...don't remember me? I just came in here yesterday?"

Sun hummed before booping Helpy's nose. "Hmmm, that squeak does seem familar! But I'm certain I'd remember a cutie like you!"

He then set Helpy back down next to Gregory, who was still a little weirded out.

"We can finger paint, tell stories, drink Fizzy Faz until our heads EXPLODE, and then stay up all night!" Sun laughed before his voice grew serious. "There is only ONE rule...keep the lights ON. ON. ON."

Helpy gulped, with Gregory gulping as well now that Helpy, who had claimed Sun was harmless, was now afraid.

Gregory then whispered to Helpy as Sun danced around the two, clearly and eagerly awaiting an answer from them. "Keep him distracted. I'll get the badge."

Helpy nodded before he pretended to fall on top of a pile of cans nearby. "Whoops!"

"NO, NO, NO, NO! WHAT A MESS!" Sun cried, gently taking Helpy and setting him aside. "WHICH WAS THE BOTTOM?! WHERE IS THE TOP?! CLEAN UP! CLEAN UP!"

Gregory then took his chance to run to the security desk while Sun was occupied. He made it, with Helpy continuing to distract Sun. Gregory did find multiple things, including a flashlight which he would probably need.

He then found some kind of Freddy head with a security hat. He booped its nose before watching it open, and there was the security badge. He smiled, grabbing it.

But it seemed taking the badge did something...not so good. The lights went out, and Helpy screeched, running towards the security desk and behind it and Gregory.

"What?! What did I-" Gregory then saw Sun right on top of the desk, breathing heavily in TERROR.

"NO! NOOO! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! LIGHTS ON! LIGHTS ON! I WARNED YOU...I WARNED YOU!!!!!" Sun shrieked before holding his head, screeching and hissing in pain as he fell back.

Helpy whimpered. "S-Sun-"

Then? A white and blue hand reached on top of the desk. And then a second one...and an eerie, demonic voice spoke. "NAUGHTY BOYS...NAUGHTY BOYS...IT'S PAST YOUR BEDTIME. YOU MUST BE PUNISHED!!!"

Moon flipped onto the table, creepily hopping from side to side. Moon himself was similar to Sun, but white, black, and blue. His pants had stars on them, and he wore a nightcap. And finally, his eyes were a sinister glowing red.

"Nighty-night~" Moon sang before hopping away into the darkness of The Daycare, which was pitch black, like outside when it was night.

Gregory shook, clutching his flashlight as if it were a weapon, but he looked more determined than scared. Helpy, on the other hand, was mortified. "Is...is this what you meant?"

"M-Moon's been acting s-strange for weeks..." Helpy whimpered. "W-We can't f-fix him..."

Gregory's watch then beeped, and yet again, Freddy spoke to offer his guidance. "Gregory, I do not know what you did, but the lights are out in The Daycare! You need to find the emergency backup generators and turn them on. They are in the play structures."

Gregory nodded. "Right!"

Helpy whimpered, but took a deep breath and put on a brave face. "Y-Yeah!"

Gregory then grabbed his flashlight, shining it as the two walked into the Daycare. But they quickly heard Moon's evil cackle. Helpy tried to stay quiet, shaking and trembling.

Helpy then looked at Gregory, who very quickly came up with a plan. "Let's split up. We can get to the generators quicker."

"T-There's 5." Helpy said with a nod before the two of them split up into play structures.

All the while Moon watched, hanging from a crane with an evil grin. He giggled, slowly floating down to the one Gregory was in, dancing as he walked around it, searching for the child. "Bad children must be PUNISHED."

Gregory gritted his teeth, crawling and sneaking before he found some kind of purple machine with a lever. He pulled the lever, and the red light turned green. Green usually meant good.

Then, he froze when he heard mechanical sounds. He slowly turned around, seeing a red glow coming from inside the slide. He gasped quietly, quickly starting to crawl faster and faster while Moon crawled after him, wanting to draw out the hunt.

He wanted them to be scared.

Meanwhile, Helpy kept searching around for a generator. But he felt a chill down his spine when he looked at the colorful bars of the play structure.

And as if he was in two places at once, Moon started to crawl up and down the bars, giggling. "Bad children must be FOUND."

Helpy quickly started crawling away, but he tripped and fell right next to a generator. He gasped, quickly reaching for it until a blue and white hand grabbed his wrist.

And then? Moon was staring at him right through the bars. He ROARED, causing Helpy to scream as he tried dragging him closer. Helpy, out of fear, kicked Moon's hand away and turned on the generator.

Moon cackled, watching Helpy crawl away in fear. He eyed the generator, but shrugged it off and hopped off the colorful bars and back onto his crane, giving him the illusion that he was flying across the air like an actual moon. What was the fun in a hunt if he cheated?

Helpy went down a slide, using his night vision to find his way to Gregory, who turned on the third generator. "G-Gregory!"

"Helpy! I got two!" He whispered.

"T-Two left!" Helpy whispered back, not wanting to be alone after nearly being caught.

The two kept crawling around, listening to the dark emptiness of The Daycare...and Moon's evil cackles.

Then, there was a knock from a slide. "Knock knock~"

Helpy and Gregory quickly hid behind something, with Gregory peeking out to see Moon slowly coming out from the slide. The Daycare Attendant turned from side to side before sliding back down, still keeping his evil grin.

They peeked back out, seeing a generator right next to the slide. Gregory reached out slowly, worried that Moon was just waiting for them. Nothing happened, and the fourth generator was turned on.

Only one more left.

Helpy and Gregory crawled out of the play structures, with Gregory looking around in the play structures for the last one.

"GOODNIGHT~" A voice sang before Moon came flying in, landing on his feet and crawling towards the two boys.

Gregory and Helpy quickly ran seperate directions, with Moon chasing Gregory. But Gregory quickly hid inside the play structure he was just in.

Moon started walking on his hands, his legs dangling in the air as he searched for Gregory. He then flipped back onto his feet, diving high into the darkness.

Gregory breathed heavily before finding the last generator right next to him. He smirked, grabbing the lever and pulling it.

And sure enough, the lights went on.

Gregory crawled out, where Helpy hugged him tightly.

"We did it!" Helpy cried, smiling.

Gregory chuckled. "Yeah! We did! Now let's-"

Then? They were grabbed and held high in the air by Sun, who did NOT look happy one bit.

Sun growled, carrying them to the door. "RULE BREAKERS! RULE BREAKERS! YOU ARE BANNED FROM THE DAYCARE!!!" He kicked open the door, throwing them out on their butts. "SECURITY ALERT!!! SECURITY ALERT!!! WOO WOO WOO!!!" He screamed, mimicking a police siren before slamming the door shut.

Gregory and Helpy quickly got back up, and in good timing. When they turned around? They saw ALL three of The Glamrocks looking for them around The Daycare.

Roxy sniffed the air, growling like an actual wolf. Monty just smashed things around, such as tables or chairs as he searched for them. Chica just shifted around, her eyes still glowing red.

"Gregory! Helpy!" A familar voice called out. It was Freddy. Freddy's chest cavity opened up. "We need to get out of here now! They have found you!"

Gregory quickly hopped inside Freddy's chest cavity, it closing as Freddy scooped Helpy into his arms as he ran up the stairs to take the normal adult exit to The Daycare.

Helpy felt relief as they got away, walking towards the exit gate. "T-Thank you, F-Freddy."

Freddy rubbed Helpy's back. "Are you two okay?"

Gregory nodded. "Y-Yeah. But we better be quick and quiet. They're still down there!"

But then? The lights suddenly went out again. And Moon's cackle echoed throughout the air.

Freddy's eyes went serious. "We are almost out of time. We need to get to a Recharge Station immiedately. Every hour, the power is diverted to the Recharge Stations. When that happens, the lights go out. And when THAT happens, The Daycare Attendant is free to roam the building. He will find us, and won't be so easily fooled by hiding inside my chest cavity."

Gregory gulped, and then sighed in relief when Freddy started to run out of the Daycare, and towards a recharge station in the hallway. Freddy set Helpy down in a hiding place nearby, while he himself went inside the station.

"Wait, is it safe for me to be in here?" Gregory asked.

Freddy nodded. "Yes! It is completely safe. It would...take quite a while to explain how the electricity delivered through my body does not affect my chest cavity."

Gregory nodded, looking through Freddy's eyes as he charged...but then? His vision started to glitch out in red.

And that's when Gregory saw something Freddy couldn't.

Dancing right across from them...was a woman. A rabbit woman to precise. Her fur was white, and her body was stitched up. She danced and happily skipped by them, her eyes glowing the same red the others had. But she didn't look like a robot. Then? She disappeared.

Gregory was completely silent. "What was that?"

"That is a fountain." Freddy said. "A fountain is a decorative reservoir used for discharging water."

Gregory groaned. "Not the fountain! You didn't see the dancing rabbit lady right in front of us?"

"No, I did not." Freddy then went silent. "There is no rabbit at the Mega Pizzaplex...not anymore..."

"Not anymore?" Gregory asked, but Freddy didn't answer as he walked out. Gregory figured it was a touchy subject, so he didn't ask. He sighed. "This is crazy...it's like the whole place is trying to get me!"

Freddy blinked. "I am not."

"Why?"

"I...do not know. I want to help you. Maybe they want to help you too!"

Gregory sighed. "I doubt it. You saw their red eyes...for some reason...you and Helpy are...different."

Then, after Helpy came out, Freddy smiled. "Good news! The security doors will open in five hours!"

"Good news?! Five hours?!" Gregory cried. "I'M NOT GONNA LAST FIVE MINUTES!"

"Do not panic." Freddy said. "If we get separated again, you can always call me on your Fazwatch. As long as I have power and I am able to reach you."

The three started walking out of the Daycare, Helpy wishing he had his own chest cavity to hide in. Or that he was small enough to fit in with his new best friend.

"We should get moving." Freddy said, urging the group to go quicker. "You can access the main atrium with your new security badge."

Gregory looked through his cameras for a moment before they headed into the elevator. Looks like Freddy had a better clue of where he was going than he did. Which made sense. He lived there.

Then? Freddy spoke as Helpy pressed the elevator button. "Gregory! I have identified two possible exit points. The main loading dock is located under the food court on the first floor. There is also a fire escape in the third floor Prize Counter. Check your Fazwatch. I will mark both locations on your Faz Map."

"I'll get Faz Right to it!" Gregory joked.

Freddy laughed. Their journey was only just beginning.
