Eliza cheered as her classmates threw their graduation hats in the air. Her sisters, Maria, and Theo crowded around her.
It was graduation day at their college.
The whole gang got together for a private celebration in their traditional spot down by the creek.
They spread picnic blankets on the ground and started eating as the sun set. After they were done, Alex pulled Eliza away into the woods.
He led her to a secluded clearing. There was still enough sunlight to see by, even though the stars had started showing themselves.
"What are we doing here?" Eliza asked.
Alex knelt on the ground and pulled out a little velvet ring box.
"Elizabeth Schuyler, will you marry me?" he asked.
Eliza's hands flew to her mouth as her heart and mind spoke in unison.
"Yes."
Alex slipped the ring on her finger and pulled her into a kiss.
Eliza has never felt happier. She melted into him and kissed back.
All her cares were swept away in that moment. A meteor could've struck the earth and wiped out all creation, and she wouldn't have cared.
All she thought about was the love of her life right in front of her as their lips locked again.
Alex's hands wandered down to her waist and pressed her even closer to him.
Eliza couldn't breathe. She pulled away from him and gasped for breath. She could feel her face turn red as they both collapsed on the grassy ground.
"You good?" Alex asked, sounding as much out of breath as she felt.
Eliza nodded and scooted closer, laying her head on his shoulder. She looked up and kissed him again.
The kiss was shorter then the last, and after a few seconds they stopped and stared up at the stars as the last slivers of sunlight faded in a glow of orange, red, and pink on the horizon.
"What did I ever do to deserve you?" Eliza muttered.
Alex laughed softly. "Nothing. We were just meant to be together."
Eliza smiled as she twisted the ring on her finger. "Eliza Hamilton."
"Yeah," Alex agreed as he helped her up.
Eliza pulled him into one last long kiss under the stars, then they returned to where the rest of their group were sitting.
Eliza joined her sisters.
"Now what took you so long?" Angelica asked.
Eliza shrugged. "Nothing."
"Something," Peggy said.
"I'll tell you at home," Eliza said.
"Theo and Maria are staying over tonight." Angelica said.
Eliza smiled. "The more the merrier."
