~Alex POV~

All Alex could think about was Eliza. He'd done nothing but think about her since last night, when she had forgiven him for kissing Maria.

In history class, he'd paid hardly any attention to Mr. Miller's lecture. He was glancing at Eliza, who was writing in her notebook, every few seconds. He hadn't talked to her yet that day.

She was with her sisters at lunchtime, so Alex sat by John, Lafayette, and Aaron.

He zoned out while they were talking, until John shook him forcefully.

"Alex!" he said.

Alex snapped out of it. "What?"

Laff rolled his eyes. "I've said your name like five times already."

"Oh, sorry," Alex muttered.

Aaron smirked. "What were you doing?"

Alex shrugged. "Nothing."

"Thinking about Eliza?" John asked.

"Um..."

Aaron smirked again. "That's a yes."

"Didn't you two break up?" Laff asked.

"Well, Eliza broke up with me, but we're fine now," Alex said.

John frowned. "And by that you mean..."

Alex looked down. "Nothing."

"Does anyone else know what you're talking about?" Aaron asked.

Alex shrugged. "I don't think Eliza told anyone."

"So, I'm assuming something happened between you two," Laff said.

"That's not what I'm saying," Alex protested.

"Yeah, right," John said.

"Then what are you saying?" Aaron asked.

"Not telling," Alex said. 

"Jeez, you're like Eliza. She won't tell what goes on between you two." John complained.

"Does she have to?" Alex asked. "Why do all of you want to know everything?"

"There's something called curiosity," Laff said.

"There's also something called privacy," Alex retorted.

Aaron shrugged. "Oh well."

"Can we ask Eliza what happened, then?" John asked.

"You can try," Alex said.

"Alright, then," Laff said. "John and I will ask her."

"Why not me?" Aaron whined.

"I don't think that having you there will heighten our chances," Laff said. "She's not exactly on good terms with you."

"What?" Aaron asked "she hasn't done anything to me for a while."

"Still," John cut in. "I think Laff and I are our best shot at getting something out of her. So, we'll-"

Alex interrupted. "As much as it's amusing to watch you three talk about my girlfriend, can you do this somewhere else? Like, not around me?"

Aaron gave him a look. "You said she broke up with you. She's still your girlfriend?"

Alex shrugged. "I didn't say anything."

"Alright, well, next class John and I are with Eliza," Laff said.

"So am I though," Alex noted.

"Okay, now you're in," John said. "It's settled. Laff and I are talking to Eliza while Alex just-I don't know what you're gonna do, but whatever."

"Hey, what about me?" Aaron asked.

"You can go to your class and we'll fill you in later." Laff said.

"Fine," Aaron sulked.

The bell rang. Alex caught up to Eliza in the hall.

He filled her in on what Laff and John were planning. Eliza smirked, but didn't say anything as she went into the library.
