Save Them
Mark sucked in a startled breath as he looked around him, expecting to see several pairs of glowing eyes like Anti's staring at him from the darkness.
Instead, the dark haired gamer saw nothing as Anti laughed, his voice fading away as Mark returned his attention to the in game computer monitor to pick another game to play.
"Wait a minute...what the hell?" Mark murmured under his breath, examining his options.
While there was still the third and fourth game to play, there was something else he could play that scared him more than anything else.
Playing Fnaf One and Two had unlocked Fnaf Three and another series of experiences, five of them under the same category in bright green letters.
"SAVE THEM"
"Is this what Anti meant by the other people besides Google?" Mark wondered aloud as he stared at the first experience, its title hidden by a bunch of glitches.
"Doesn't matter, at least I'll get a break from playing the original games and I'll get to try something new." Mark sighed as he pressed start, bracing himself for whatever would he waiting in the darkness for him.
When the surroundings appeared around Mark, the YouTuber found himself sitting in a seat facing a stage, the male wincing as stage lights abruptly switched on and blinded him.
Standing on stage with their head bowed was Marvin the Magnificent, dark blue strings attached to his limbs.
"Marvin?" Mark called out tentatively, sucking in a startled breath when Marvin's head shot up to reveal normal blue eyes much to the YouTuber's initial relief.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, gather 'round gather 'round! Sit back, relax, and please stay in your seats. Kick your feet up and grab some popcorn! Oh and of course, lest we not forget."
Marvin broke off as his eyes met Mark's, the blue in his eyes abruptly changing to the same bright green as Anti's.
"Enjoy the show."
The strings attached to Marvin started manipulating his movement, the magician raising an arm with his wand in hand.
"Marvin, what the hell is going on?!" Mark shouted as he struggled to get out of his seat, finding himself unable to move no matter how much he tried.
"No one thinks I can preform real magic, but I'll show them. I'll show them all!" Marvin snarled, the strings lifting Marvin's arms so he could gesture around him at the stage.
"Marvin, this isn't you-"
"How would you know?" Marvin shot back coldly, the strings on his arms going lax so the magician could lower them to rest at his side.
"Look, Jack's in trouble, I need your help." Mark pleaded, noticing Marvin's expression flicker for a brief moment before his sinister grin returned.
"I don't care about him, he doesn't mean anything to me!" Marvin retorted, a tinge of uncertainty evident in his tone.
"I know that he lets you continue practicing magic even though it tends to destroy the house, he just wants you to be happy." Mark insisted, watching the strings attached to Marvin move to pull the former magician up off of the stage so he was floating a few feet over Mark.
"Jack's my friend too, snap out of it so we can save him damnit!" Mark cried, squeezing his eyes shut while bracing himself for whatever Marvin would do next.
When Mark dared to look, he saw Marvin standing on the stage with his eyes returned to normal, his body trembling as the strings continued to manipulate his movements.
"He-Help me." Marvin whispered, tears in his eyes as he fought against the control of the strings to no avail.
Mark hastily looked around him and found a knife on the ground, the male finally able to move so he could grab the knife and climb up onto the stage.
"Look out!" Marvin called out as the strings forced the magician to raise his wand, a blast of green magic knocking Mark back into the seats.
"I'm sorry, I-I can't stop!" Marvin stammered, the strings moving the magician closer to Mark as the YouTuber slowly climbed to his feet.
"Don't worry Marvin," Mark murmured under his breath as he gripped the knife tightly, looking at the magician with determination shining in his eyes. "I'll save you too."
Mark clambered back onstage and swung his knife at the string connected to Marvin's arm holding the wand as the magician moved, causing Mark to nearly cut Marvin's arm instead.
"Damnit, I'm not letting Anti win!" Mark hissed under his breath, Marvin's free hand abruptly shooting out and wrapping around Mark's throat to lift the YouTuber up in the air.
"M-Marvin...pl-please." Mark choked out, the magician's eyes filled with remorse as his hold on the dark haired gamer's throat tightened.
As black dots danced in Mark's vision, he managed to cut all of the strings connected to Marvin with an arching swing from his knife, the magician instantly letting the YouTuber go.
"Thanks...Marvin." Mark panted as he fought to regain his breath from where he was on his knees on the stage floor, the knife glitching out of existence in his hand as well as the severed strings.
"No, I should be thanking you. I brought myself and the rest of the egos into this world with my magic so we can save Jack, but here you are saving us." Marvin chuckled mirthlessly, looking down at his hands.
"Don't worry about it, we'll rescue the others and Jack." Mark promised as he stood up, offering the magician a small reassuring smile.
"Oh, and I have this!" Marvin exclaimed, offering Mark a green cassette tape that had been hidden inside his cape.
"Thanks." Mark nodded in appreciation, tensing up as he abruptly returned to the game selection menu room with Marvin.
"So, you stole one of my little puppets. Who cares, the damn magician is worthless! I won't let you save Jack, I will be this game's god!" Anti declared from the darkness, the glitch hidden once again from Mark.
"Call me worthless again, I dare you." Marvin taunted, scanning his surroundings for Anti with narrowed eyes.
"Try and save them. You can't." Anti interjected before falling silent, Mark and Marvin exchanging a look.
"I guess we should see who's next." Mark shrugged, looking at the next experience even though he could see nothing but black.
"I'll try looking for other tapes. Be careful." Marvin directed as Mark hit start, the magician watching Mark disappear to leave him alone in the menu.
