in one episode the dad doesnt want his mother to marry this guy so he legally adopts the guy and forbids him from marrying her, and the guy retaliates by adopting the dads wife and forbids her from seeing the dad

there's also an episode where the mom gets challenged to a fight and for the fight it switches to a legit, well animated anime scene
