Chapter Thirteen

Marshall sat up in a sweat of panic, his eyes bounced around the darkness of his room before landing on the empty spot of his bed "I shouldn't of let you go." His breathing heaved.

Marshall pushed his shaggy hair from his face before placing his feet on the floor.

His breathing heaved as he rose to his feet.

Marshall blindly followed the darkness out into the hallway and down to the dining room.

He tilted his head slightly noticing Reginald asleep on the lounge, Marshall turned his attention back to his steps.

Marshall carefully sat down at the dining table.

His eyes scanned the lonely table, his eyes scanned for any ounce of Larna.

His mind tried it's hardest to think of his best friend.

"Larna, I'm sorry." Marshall stated "I'm sorry for holding you back, I'm sorry for forcing you out the door without a goodbye. I'm sorry for all the years that I just put myself into your life, I'm sorry for everything that I never said. For all the words I never allowed you to speak, I'm sorry. Sorry for everything." Marshall could hear his voice start to break as he looked at the lonely dining table.

He imagined Larna sitting across from him, his memory wasn't the same.

Marshall couldn't see Larna physically sitting across from him, he couldn't sense her presence. He slowly reached his hands out, hoping for something that showed she was with him.

Even his heart felt empty.

Marshall lowered his gaze as tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Marshall?"

Marshall hadn't realised he had accidentally woken Reginald, Marshall shielded his eyes from the light coming from the back of Reginald's phone.

"Are you okay?" Reginald could barely make out the tears or sweat droplets over Marshall's face.

Marshall nodded slightly "Couldn't sleep."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Marshall shook his head; he shifted his gaze to the sit across from him.

The light from Reginald's phone showed just how empty the dining table felt as Marshall sat alone in the light.

Reginald attempted a half awake step towards Marshall.

"I'm going back to bed." Marshall lifted himself up to his feet before quietly walking back to his room.

Reginald allowed the light from his phone to attempt to follow Marshall until the bedroom door closed.

Reginald sighed as he lowered his phone.
