After their enchanting time in the field, Jungkook personally dropped Taehyung back to his house, the latter adamantly refusing to part with his gift for even a moment. That made Jungkook chuckle at the adorable charm of the latter.
"Here we are prince! hop down! that's the end of today.." Jungkook took Tae's hands in his and helped the younger to get down of the car.
Taehyung kept his gaze lowered, while Jeon casually leaned against his car, silently observing as the younger walked away. But brows got together to form a cute frown as he saw the younger boy coming back in the same position he was.
"u-h..I-i..Thank-ThankyousomuchforthedayMr.Jeon.."
"Wha-" Jungkook couldn't form the rest of his words as he felt warm lips pressed on his cheek.
"B-BYE!" With that, Taehyung hastily entered his home.
Jungkook stood there, his mind a swirl of conflicting emotions. The unexpected kiss from Taehyung left him both surprised and pensive. He touched his cheek, still feeling the lingering warmth, and a soft smile tugged at his lips.
As he drove back home, the enchanting day replayed in his mind. Jungkook couldn't deny the genuine connection he felt with Taehyung, a connection that surpassed the boundaries of their therapeutic relationship. However, the weight of societal expectations, his parents' wishes, lingered like a shadow.
As the male entered his apartment he saw a lady seated on his couch.
"Maa!" Jungkook kept his bag aside and rushed to her only to be engulfed by the woman in a warm hug breaming of love.
"How are you son!" Mrs. Jeon uttered as she caressed Jungkook's hair and kissed his eyes.
"Am fine!"
"You look cheery today kiddo what's up" Mrs. Jeon asked as she pampered Jungkook with kisses.
"Well I...I don't know..I was able to make just one of my patients feel good." Jungkook tried to explain.
"Then, good job my angel! you did great, am proud" Mother Jeon kept on patting Jungkook's hair.
As Jungkook retreated himself he asks.
"What brings you here Maa?"
Mrs. Jeon smiled warmly at Jungkook before settling on the couch. "I thought I'd surprise you and spend some time with my wonderful son. It's been a while since we caught up."
Jungkook, though grateful for his mother's presence, couldn't shake off the thoughts of the day, especially the lingering warmth from Taehyung's kiss. He tried to focus on his mother, engaging in small talk about his work and life. However, as the conversation progressed,
Mrs. Jeon gently broached a topic that had been on both of their minds. "Jungkook, dear, I can see you're doing well in your career, but your father and I have been thinking about your future. You know you have responsibilities as the heir to our family, and your engagement with Ye-Seul is an important part of that."
Jungkook sighed inwardly, his heart heavy. Ye-Seul, his childhood friend, was someone he respected and cared for, but the connection he felt with Taehyung, which he wasn't supposed to feel was complicating matters.
"I understand, Maa. I've been caught up with work, but I'll make an effort to spend more time with Ye-Seul and her family," Jungkook replied, forcing a smile.
His mother nodded approvingly. "That's my boy. Your father and I want what's best for you. Ye-Seul is a lovely girl, and we've known her family for years. It's a union that will strengthen our ties and ensure the prosperity of our lineage."
Jungkook couldn't bring himself to argue. The weight of tradition and family expectations bore down on him. He excused himself to get ready for dinner with Ye-Seul and her family, leaving his mother with a conflicted expression.
The evening arrived, and Jungkook found himself at Ye-Seul's family home. The atmosphere was elegant, and the warmth of the family made him feel all cozy. Ye-Seul, with all her charm, greeted him with a smile.
"Jungkook, it's been too long. I've missed you," Ye-Seul said, her eyes reflecting a mix of affection and expectation.
"I've missed you too, Ye-Seul," Jungkook replied as he hugged her warmly, hands around her waist, though his mind couldn't help but wander back to the moments spent with Taehyung earlier in the day.
As the dinner progressed, Jungkook tried to be present, engaging in conversations and accepting the well-wishes from Ye-Seul's family. However, a weird feeling stayed. After the dinner, Ye-Seul and Jungkook found a moment alone in the garden. Ye-Seul looked at him earnestly.
"Jungkook, I know this might seem like a lot, but I truly believe we can build a great future together. Our families have always seen us as a perfect match. Don't you think so? "Jungkook hesitated, his gaze distant.
"Ye-Seul, you're wonderful, and I care deeply for you. It's just... there's something I need to figure out within myself. I hope you can understand."
Ye-Seul's expression softened. "Jungkook, take your time. I've always believed in us, and I'll be here when you're ready."
As he left Ye-Seul house that night, Jungkook's mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. The weight of expectations, tradition, and his growing feelings for Taehyung created a storm within him, leaving him torn between duty and the desire to follow his heart.
The drive back home was silent. The city lights blurred outside the window, mirroring the blurred lines of his emotions.
Entering his apartment, Jungkook felt a sense of loneliness that louden the internal conflict. The familiar surroundings seemed to echo with the weight of expectations, both familial and societal.
He slumped onto the couch, hands running through his hair as he replayed the events of the evening. Ye-Seul's genuine affection, her family's warmth, and the undeniable bond they shared were severely contrasted with the lovely memory of Taehyung's kiss and the connection that lingered in the recesses of his heart.
As he pondered over a cup of lukewarm tea, Jungkook's phone vibrated with a message from Taehyung. A simple "Thank you for today, Mr. Jeon" that carried an unspoken layer of meaning. He wondered from where Tae got his number, maybe his mother gave him, Jungkook couldn't help but smile at the message, but soon concealed or neglected those arising feelings in his chest.
