Kai's P.O.V.:
I opened my eyes and I was upside down in my vehicle.
"What? Where am I?" I said looking around.
I was stuck on top of Cole's car. I looked down and saw him unconscious. I called out to him but he wasn't moving. I jumped out of my vehicle and tried to open the hatch, but it was stuck and my wrist hurt from the crash.
"You six go that way, the rest of you that way!" I heard someone coming. "Search the streets!"
"I know that voice." I frowned as I saw Pythor and his army coming.
"Find the ninja! The crystal king commands it!" He yelled marching by.
"Come on, come on, wake up Cole." I kept trying to open the hatch. "Buddy, not a good time for a beauty nap."
I kept struggling to get it open, but my wrist hurt so much I couldn't do it. I looked around, found a piece of metal and used that to pry open the capsule. I pulled Cole out of there and he woke up for a second.
"What happened? Did we win?" Cole asked, almost completely out of it.
"Not exactly." I sighed.
I tried to keep him up and get him into a nearby building, but he was dizzy and could barely keep his eyes open. I knew I wasn't going to be able to do this by myself.
"Where are they?!" I heard Pythor yell. "Ahh, they're close. I can taste them."
Cole was looking worse by the second and I didn't have a lot of options. I found a dumpster and hid us both behind it.
"Oh ninja! Where are you?" Pythor sang.
"We're over here." Cole said before I covered his mouth.
"Are you nuts?" I asked frustrated.
"Come out come out wherever you are." Pythor was getting closer.
"Cole come on, snap out of it! I could really use your help here!" I said.
"Found you!" Pythor hissed.
Cole passed out again and I realized that I was on my own. I kicked the dumpster out of the way and sparked up my powers, but between the pain in my wrist and the amount of vengestone warriors there, it didn't do much damage.
"Oopsie, didn't work." Pythor taunted. "If only your friend were awake. Perhaps together, the two of you might have had a fighting chance."
"Let's find out!" Skylor flipped off the roof and landed in front of me.
"Skylor? How did you..."
"Hiya hotshot." She winked and put her hand on my shoulder.
She absorbed my powers and then absorbed Cole's, who was still unconscious. Using the powers together she created a smoke screen and a rock wall in between us and Pythor so we could escape. She helped me pick up Cole and we got out of there. We ran into Kira on the corner.
"Hey, how can I help?" Kira asked.
"It's Cole, I think he got a concussion from the wreck." I told her.
"Here, I'll take a look at him." Kira said.
We sat him on the sidewalk under the awning so Kira could heal him, but then we saw Harumi flying by on the crystal creature.
"We aren't safe here." Skylor said. "We need a better place to hide."
"Where are the others? Did they make it?" I asked.
"After the bounty crashed, we all got separated." Skylor explained. "Jay went after Nya, Kira and I went after you guys, and Pixal went to rescue Zane."
"What about Garmadon and Lloyd?" I asked.
"I don't know. Ever since the bounty went down we can't get in contact with them." She said. "Seliel is waiting for us back at the safe haven."
"Seliel?" Cole suddenly snapped awake. He sat up and held his head. "Ow!"
"Hang in there buddy, we're going to get you somewhere safe." I said to him.
"Wait Cole, stay still. I'm not done yet." Kira said still healing him. "Does anything else hurt?"
"No, just a headache." Cole kept holding his head.
"Over here!" I heard someone yelling. It sounded like the mechanic.
"We need to get them back to the safe haven." Skylor said.
"I'm afraid Cole can't make it far." Kira frowned as Cole lost consciousness again.
"I know a place, this way." I said.
Skylor and Kira picked Cole up by the shoulders and lifted him out of there. They followed me a few blocks down the road until we reached the arcade. Kira and Skylor carried Cole in the door and sat him down on the floor against the wall. Kira attempted to wake him up, but he was so out of it he wasn't budging. My wrist also wasn't feeling great, but my friend needed more help than I did.
"It's no use." Kira frowned. "He's breathing but he won't wake up. There's nothing more I can do unless we take him to a hospital."
"That won't work. The hospitals are all overcrowded with the amount injured folk from the Overlord attack." Skylor said.
"He could slip into a coma if I don't wake him." Kira said.
"How do we do that?" I asked.
"I tried just about everything. I could try to wake him with smelling salts but I don't have any." Kira frowned.
"Hang on, I'll see if there's something in here." I said.
I ran to the back of the arcade and looked around in the break room. I was trying to find a first aid kit, but it had been stolen. Not surprised in this part of the city. Then I looked in a party room and found a cupcake leftover from a kid's birthday party that appeared to have been cut short. I grabbed it and ran back to Cole.
"Here, take this." I handed it to Kira.
"A cupcake?" She questioned.
"Just put it under his nose. Trust me." I said.
Kira did what I said and Cole immediately sprung awake in a panic.
"Ahh! Where are we? What's going on?" He looked around and noticed the cupcake in front of him. "Is that cake?"
We all had a good laugh about that.
"Good to have you back buddy." I smiled.
Cole started to eat his cupcake. Then Skylor started looking out the window.
"Geez, those vengestone warriors are swarming the streets." Skylor said.
I walked next to her look out the window, but I accidentally moved my wrist and I flinched in pain. Kira noticed and she grabbed my arm to take a look.
"It looks like a bad sprain." Kira said. "Here, I got you."
I sat down and Kira tried to heal me with her powers. It worked a little but it still hurt. She wrapped my wrist in bandages so it wouldn't get any worse.
"Thanks Kira." I said.
"Now that you boys are ok, I need to find Lloyd." Kira said.
"Kira, no. We have to get back first." Skylor said.
"But that crash looked really bad. He could be hurt."
"I know it feels that way, but Lloyd's tough. He'll be alright." I reassured her.
"I hope so." She frowned.
"Alright, it looks like the coast is clear for now, but we have to be quick." Skylor said looking out the window.
"You think you can make it Cole?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I think so." He nodded.
"Ok, let's go. Follow me." Skylor said.
Kira and I got Cole to his feet and we carefully followed Skylor back to the newspaper warehouse, but on the way there, I noticed something drop into the canal. It looked like an old man, a very familiar man.
"Um am I seeing things because of the concussion or was that...?" Cole started.
"Master Wu!" I screamed.
"We have to save him!" Kira said.
"I can't swim." I frowned.
"Ugh where is Nya when you need her?" Cole asked.
"I'll get him." Skylor said.
Skylor jumped into the canal and about half a minute later came up with an unconscious master Wu in her arms. She pulled him up to the surface and laid him down.
Kira did CPR and after a few minutes she got him breathing again. He woke up choking on water and he was coughing. He kept trying to tell us something, but he couldn't speak.
"Wu, take it easy, we'll get you somewhere safe. Come on." I said.
Wu nodded and we continued our way back to the safe haven. It was a bunker located underneath Skylor's restaurant. We saw a lot of people already here taking shelter and eating noodles.
We sat Wu down and got him some water and some noodles to eat. He was looking better after a few minutes so we all grabbed something to eat too.
"Thank you." Wu said catching his breath. "What happened?"
"Master Wu, we need to find everyone." I said.
"Yeah, we all got separated and we don't know where anyone is." Skylor said.
"Lloyd and Garmadon were on the bounty when it crashed. I'm worried about them." Kira said.
"Yeah, and I saw Zane and Pixal flying to the temple. I hope they didn't get caught." I said.
"And we have no idea what happened to Nya and Jay." Skylor said.
"Master, what do we do?" Cole asked him.
"We must send a message to them." Wu said.
"A message? We're not even sure if they're still around to hear it." I frowned.
"It's worth a shot." Kira said. "We have nothing left to lose."
"I have an old CV radio around here somewhere. Maybe we can use that?" Skylor said.
"Perfect! Skylor, start looking for it." Wu said. "It's our only hope."
Hopefully Nya and Jay didn't get themselves into too much trouble.
Jay's P.O.V.:
I woke up in my vehicle in front of the rock I crashed into. I needed a minute to recollect myself. I was a little dizzy, but otherwise ok. My vehicle on the other hand was shorted out and wouldn't move. I had to continue on foot. I started walking and realized my ankle was twisted. I could still walk on it, but it was really sore and it made running difficult, but I couldn't worry about that now. Nya was in trouble and I was going to save her.
I ran around the block looking for Nya, and then I heard someone screaming for help. I looked around the corner and Nya was trapped under what used to be the bounty's mast. She was about to be attacked by the crystal warriors and a crystallized Mechanic I had to do something.
"Hey! Get your hands off my girl!" I yelled, making myself known.
"Jay!" Nya shouted.
"Hang on Nya, I can handle these guys." I said swinging my nunchucks.
I looked around and quickly realized that there were a lot more warriors than I thought and the important thing was to save Nya. I ran over and together we tried to lift the mast off of her, but unfortunately it wasn't enough. They were getting closer and closer.
"Jay, just go." She said.
"What?"
"Go! Save yourself." I frowned.
"No way, I just got you back." I said. "I'm not losing you again!"
I tried my hardest to hold off the Crystal warriors, but they kept getting closer. I thought all was lost until suddenly a fire hydrant bursted out a stream a water and flushed them all away. I looked back and Nya's hand was in position.
"Nya, you did it! Your powers must be coming back!" I smiled.
We both lifted the mast together and moved it off of Nya. I helped her up and she looked tired and her leg was bothering her, but she looked relieved at the same time.
"Thank you Jay." Nya said.
"Don't thank me, that was all you." I hugged her.
"I wasn't even trying to do that, I just saw you in danger and it just happened."
"Well Lloyd always said true power is never truly lost."
"Yeah I guess you're right." Nya smiled. "Come on, we gotta get out of here before more of those crystal guys show up."
"We could go back to my bike, but I kinda crashed it." I admitted.
"I told you not to overuse the power boost." Nya said. "I can probably fix it if you can take me to it."
"Ok, this way."
We traveled in the shadows until we got back to my bike, but I had to help Nya walk some because of her leg. When we got back to it, Nya did some work on the engine and got it working again while I kept the crystal warriors off our tail. Once it was up and running, we got on and drove away as fast as we could.
"Where are we going?" Nya asked.
"Anywhere but here." I said as I kept driving.
"But the entire city is overrun, there's nowhere left that's safe."
"Ninja! Ninja! Can anyone hear me?"
"What is that?" I asked.
"Wait, that sounds like master Wu." Nya realized. She turned up the radio.
"If there is anyone out there looking for a place of refuge, there is a place where you can eat and relax, owned by an old friend. Come to this place and you will safe, surrounded by friends."
"Where could that place be?" Nya asked.
"A place to eat? Owned by an old friend?" I thought about it. "Nya! I know where to go!"
I started driving to the noodle shop that was a few blocks from here.
"Jay, what was it like?" Nya asked me.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean after I left. I never asked you how you felt about it. It must've been terrible, especially for you and Kai."
"My life completely fell apart after you turned into the sea." I frowned. "I was so heartbroken I couldn't I couldn't even talk to anyone. I moved out to the lighthouse for a whole year until our friends showed up and practically dragged me back to the monastery."
"I am so sorry you had to go through that." She frowned. "If I could have stopped myself I would have turned back, but at the same time, it was the only way to save you, so I wouldn't change anything."
"Yeah, I get that. I want you know that not a day went by where I didn't think about you." I frowned.
"I wish I could say the same, but I didn't remember anything until I found you in the water that day."
"It's ok, what's important is that we're together now, and nothing's going to come between us again." I said. "I love you Nya."
"I love you too Jay." Nya said, tightly holding onto my waist.
We kept driving through the city until we arrived at the noodle shop. Hopefully everyone else heard the message too and was on their way here.
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
After a long journey, my father and I were finally able to make it back to the noodle shop where everyone was meeting up, or at least that's where we thought they were after that message we heard. My father thought it might have been a trap, but at this point we were willing to try anything to get to a safe place.
Once we entered the shop, we followed the codes to the basement and found Skylor, Kai and Kira. Seleil was in the corner checking on Cole, who was sitting on the floor holding his head.
"Lloyd!" Everyone yelled.
"Welcome to the safe haven." Skylor said holding a carton of noodles. "Are you guys hungry? On the house."
"Yes please. Thanks Skylor." I took the carton.
"We heard your message through Lloyd's communicator." Garmadon said to Wu. "We made it here as fast as we could."
"Glad you're safe Lloyd." Kai smiled. I could tell he was holding his wrist.
"You guys ok?" I asked him.
"Cole and I crashed our vehicles and had a run in with Pythor." Kai said. "Cole got the worst of it."
"Don't listen to him. I'm fine." Cole said.
Cole tried getting up but then he got dizzy. Seleil caught him and sat him back down.
"Easy rocky, you need to rest up before getting back out there." She said to him.
"Alright. Alright." Cole sighed.
"Lloyd!" Kira ran up to me. "Oh I missed you so much, I was so worried about you."
"I'm glad you're safe too." I smiled.
Kira and I gave each other the biggest hug. While I appreciated the gesture, she accidentally touched my injured arm and I screamed in pain.
"Oh sorry, what happened." Kira said, noticing the makeshift sling on my arm.
"I hurt it in the crash." I frowned.
"Here take a seat." Kira said.
I sat down on the cooler and Kira carefully took it out of the sling and unwrapped the bandages to see how bad it was.
It was still bleeding pretty bad and it honestly didn't feel much better. Kira did her best to stop the bleeding and pain, but she could only do so much. She looked so exhausted and out of breath by the time she was done. I was still in pain but at least she got the bleeding to stop.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"No problem." She said catching her breath. "Does that feel better?" I asked.
"Yeah thanks."
"I'm sorry I couldn't do more." She said panting. "I've been using my power a lot to heal people that got injured running for shelter."
"That's nice of you." I smiled.
"It's only temporary. You still might need some stitches for some of those deeper cuts."
"This will do for now. Thank you." I smiled. "You look like you could use some rest."
"Yeah, and maybe now that I know you're safe I'll actually be able to sleep." She yawned.
"I could say the same. I thought everyone I loved was a goner."
"That must've been terrible for you." She frowned.
"It felt just as bad as the first time I thought I lost everything, but even worse because I thought I lost you."
That made her smile, but then she started coughing again. I stood up and got her a water out of the cooler and let her sit down. After she drank it she looked better, but still exhausted.
"So... are we ok after all that?" She asked awkwardly.
"Yeah, I know you were just trying to protect me by not saying anything." I said.
"But you were right, if I had just said something none of this would've happened." She frowned. "I'm so sorry."
"It's ok, I'm sorry I went crazy and almost hurt you. There's nothing I could say to make to make that right." I frowned.
"How about we just call it even this time, and try to do better in the future?" Kira said.
"Ok, that sounds fair." I agreed. I saw her yawn again and noticed she could barely keep her eyes open. "Hey, why don't you get some rest while we're waiting to hear from Zane and Pixal? We're going to be here a while anyway."
"But these people need my... help." She yawned again.
"Just relax, you've done more than enough for now." I said.
"Ok." Kira frowned and finally sat down.
I sat down next to her and she fell asleep on my shoulder almost immediately. I took the opportunity to fall asleep too. I really needed some rest after today.
Narrator's P.O.V.:
After a few minutes, Jay and Nya came into the restaurant. Kai noticed his sister was limping and ran to her.
"Sis!" He screamed. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine, just happy you're safe." Nya smiled.
"I could say the same to you." Kai hugged her.
"Cole? What happened?" Jay ran to him.
"He took a hard hit, but he'll be alright." Seleil said.
"Thanks Jay." Cole said.
"Any word from Zane or Pixal?" Jay looked at Wu.
"We have not heard from them." Wu said.
"I saw them heading towards the temple before the bounty crashed." Nya said. "I think they're still inside it."
"And knowing Zane, he won't leave his brother behind." Kai said.
"I hope they know what they got themselves into." Skylor frowned.
"Yeah, all we can do now is hope they're ok." Seleil said.
To be continued...
