Skylor's P.O.V.:
Mistaké, who was disguised as Harumi, was leading me up to the top of Garmadon's tower as her 'prisoner.' My mission was to touch Garmadon and absorb his power so I could break his control of the giant rock monster.
I knew that his power would be too much for me, but this was my chance to prove myself. Some people in this city think I'm going to turn out like my father and turn on them, but I want them to see I'm more than that, no matter what I had to do.
We arrived before Garmadon's throne and I knelt on the ground in front of him. I'm not the best actress, but I tried to act like I was struggling and didn't want to be there.
"My emperor, I present you with Skylor. An elemental master." Mistaké said.
Garmadon came down from his throne and started to look at me.
"No matter what you do to me, the resistance will fight on." I warned him.
He came even closer. He had almost put his hand on me when...
"Careful my dark excellence." UV said interrupting us. "Harumi forgot to add she has the power to absorb. Don't get to close."
"Absorb?" Garmadon backed away from me.
"He is well aware of her power, but your insubordination does not go unnoticed Ultra Violet." Mistaké said.
"Curious you didn't tell me that." Garmadon said inching towards Mistaké. "For my advisor to leave that out is... ill-advised."
"My lord, I have proved my abilities time and time again. For you to doubt my abilities is..."
"Is what?" We heard a voice coming from behind us. We turned around and saw the real Harumi, meaning she must have escaped. "Two faced?"
Our cover was blown. I knew we were in trouble.
"That isn't me emperor Garmadon." The real Harumi said.
"You're the imposter!" Mistaké yelled. "Arrest her!"
"Let her speak." Garmadon interrupted.
"That is Mistaké, the shapeshifting Oni I was telling about." The real Harumi said. "She was trying to get the master of amber close enough to touch you so that the resistance could use your power against us."
I knew I had to do something before things got out of hand. I released myself from the ropes around my hands, but I was immediately pushed down by Ultra Violet. Mistaké ran to help me, but Kilo grabbed her before she could get to me.
"Good job Harumi. It's good to have you back my child." Garmadon said to Harumi.
"The pleasure was all mine father." She said.
"He's not your father! His son is Lloy..." UV pushed me down again. "Ugh!"
"I thought I smelled an Oni." He turned back to Mistaké. "Looks like your plan backfired."
"The only thing that backfired is you turning against your father's realm." Mistaké said, now using her normal voice. "Ninjago is a place of light, but you are form of shadow."
"You know it all turns to darkness." Garmadon said.
"The future is not in your hands."
"Show me Oni, show me your real face. Or are you worried what you're friends might think of you? Demon."
"Maybe I'll show you..." she screamed and turned into a black demon with horns on her head. "But just to show you what a real Oni can do!"
A long fight ensued. Towards the end Mistaké pretended to be me, but I snuck up behind Garmadon and managed to touch him on the arm.
"Gotcha!" I smirked.
"Don't let her get away!" He screamed.
I ran with Mistaké down the building until we were surrounded. There was no way I could escape.
"Go Skylor." Mistaké screamed.
I didn't want to leave without her, but I knew there was no other choice. I saw a blimp flying below us. I jumped onto it and made my way back to the others. I overheard Kilo and the other SOG talking before I went inside.
"Skylor escaped, hunt her down!" I heard Kilo yell.
"But what about the old woman?" One of the bikers asked.
"We don't have to worry about her anymore." Kilo said as the bikers set off.
"Oh no." I whispered to myself.
I knew that Mistaké wasn't coming back, and I felt like it was all my fault.
I ran into the tea shop and quickly shut the door behind me. I was out of breath. My friends had looks of concern and confusion on their faces. I had let them all down.
"Skylor?" Lloyd questioned.
"Are you ok?" Kira asked me and I slightly nodded.
"Where's Mistaké?" Nya asked.
I looked away and frowned. I couldn't say a word. I was too freaked.
"She didn't... make it?" Dareth questioned.
I slowly shook my head. I couldn't say anything else.
Nya kicked a trash bag into a radio and it fell to the floor and turned on. We heard UV's voice coming through the phone. We knew they were on their way.
"You were followed." Seleil said.
"Did you touch him?" Lloyd asked me.
"Yes." I managed to say.
"Can you control it?" He asked.
"Don't know, but there's one way to find out."
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
We were all out on the roof of the building, watching Skylor try to take control of his rock monster. I tried my best to talk her through it, but my father's power proved to be too much for her. She did manage to take control of the golem, but instead of taking out Garmadon, she took out another building in the process, and Harumi was on top of it.
I looked across the way and locked eyes with her one last time. The building collapsed with her on top of it and I knew there was no chance of her surviving that. I couldn't decide how I felt about it, but I didn't have time to worry about that right now. My friend needed help.
My father stopped his rampage for a second once the building fell down. Nya and Kira were trying to get Skylor to wake up. Her eyes were open, but they had turned purple and it was like she wasn't aware of anything.
"I-I can't wake her up." Kira frowned. "It's like his power poisoned her."
"Whoa doctor of dark arts, should any of us really be making a diagnosis?" Dareth freaked.
"No, she's right, the only way to help Skylor is to get his power out of her." I said.
"I don't know anything about that, but I do know what's coming our way!" Dareth screamed as he pointed to the golem heading our way, punching every building on its way. "We have to go. Pronto!"
"Skylor, you have to wake up." I told her. There's no way we could escape if we had to carry her around.
"We have to run." Nya said.
"Run? One of us can't even stand!" Dareth yelled.
"Then we'll have to improvise." Seliel said picking up Skylor. "I'll get Skylor, Kira and Dareth somewhere safe, you two get that golem off our tail and we'll meet up with you later."
"But that's..."
"Our only option." Kira interrupted me. "In case I don't get to say this later, I love you Lloyd."
She quickly kissed me on the cheek and before I could tell her that I loved her too, Seleil made a smoke bomb and they disappeared.
"Come on Lloyd, stay focused." Nya said.
"Right." I said, turning my focus back to running with Nya.
We started to outran the golem by jumping on top of the buildings. I just hope Kira and the others were alright.
*Meanwhile in the First Realm*
Zane's P.O.V.:
I was with my brother and Wu trying to make the dragon that Jay designed. We had it all built, but because of my leg I was not able to fly it properly, and my brother was still recovering from his recent repairs so it wasn't the best idea for him to try it either. I had to make some adjustments and then we had Wu fly it instead. He pretended to be firstborne and it worked.
After we set our friends free, we were all sitting around a campfire about to fall asleep. Wu and the ninja already were, but my brother seemed distant.
"What is it brother?" I asked him.
"I don't think I can call you that." He said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I don't really understand what being a brother means."
"Well a brother is someone who looks out for his family, no matter what."
"And yet I've never had your back." He frowned.
"I know this is new for you, but do not worry brother. You will figure it out."
"Maybe you shouldn't call me just brother." He sighed.
"What do you mean?"
"You and your friends have real names, but I don't know mine."
"Jay and Nya said they used to call you Echo."
"Echo?" He questioned. "I like it."
"I'm glad broth... I mean Echo." I smiled. "Now let's recharge a little before sunrise, we've got a lot of walking to do tomorrow."
He looked down at my injured leg. "Are you sure you're going to be able to walk that far?"
"I will manage." I said.
"But the rotors in your leg are damaged. You will not be able to make that long journey."
"Not by myself, no." I frowned.
Echo bent over me and took a look at my leg. He made some minor repairs to it and I was feeling a little better.
"Am I being a good brother?" He asked me.
"Yes." I smiled. "The best brother."
He gave me a hug and I smiled. It felt good to have a brother again.
A little time past and eventually we both fell asleep.
Wu's P.O.V.:
I was on a boat, fishing with my brother and my father. We both young kids. I picked up a can of bait, but it was empty.
"You took all the worms?" I yelled at Garmadon.
"No I didn't." He defended.
"Did too!"
"Well I'm hungry." He complained. "We've been fishing all day, and it's all wasted on your hook anyway."
"Well I'm hungry too!" I said. "How am I supposed to catch a fish father?"
"Boys, boys, you were both born with tremendous gifts." My father said. "If you think you won't catch a fish, you won't. But if you have faith, well..."
Garmadon and I looked at each other. We put our lines in one more time, and this time I had faith. It was only a few seconds later, I got a bite.
"I got a bite! I got one!" I exclaimed.
"What? How? That's not fair!" Garmadon said.
"What is fair? That's faith." My father lectured as my fish tugged on the line. "And judging from it's pull, you've got quite a keeper."
"Wu always gets everything!" Garmadon threw his pole in the water.
I woke up from the dream. All of the others were already awake.
"Look who's up." Kai said.
"And look who's got longer legs." Cole said. "Even as I'm saying it out loud, that's super weird right?"
"At his augmented growth cycle, that's actually quite normal for a young teenager." Zane said.
"A teenager? Now we're in for it." Jay laughed.
"Jay we're still teenagers." Kai told him.
"Yeah, but we're older teenagers." Jay said.
I looked down and noticed that my legs were longer. I was older now. My head started to spin a little.
"What is wrong young master Wu?" Zane asked me.
"I had a dream." I told them. "I was fishing with my father."
"The First Spinjitsu Master?" Jay smiled.
"And my brother was there." I continued.
"His memories are coming back." Cole said.
"Do remember anything else? Anything your father said?" Kai asked.
"Yes." I nodded. "He said..."
All of a sudden, someone shot an arrow at us and all of the ninja got in front of me. They looked ready to fight. It was Heavy Metal, one of Iron Barron's hunters.
"Show yourself!" Cole demanded.
"There is no escape." He said. "You are my prisoners now."
He came closer to us backing us in. Then he took his crossbow and slightly let his guard down.
"Is it true?" He asked us.
"Is what true?" Cole asked.
"What you said." He pointed to me. "He is the son of the first Spinjitsu master, is it true?"
"Don't tell him." Kai whispered. "Remember what happened when we found out about our powers?"
"I can hear you!" Heavy Metal said.
He took another shot at Cole's foot and he began marching closer. I knew what he was after, I had to protect my friends.
"Yes, it's true." I stood up in front of the others. "I am the son of the first Spinjitsu master. I am Wu."
He stopped in his tracks and took off his hat and mask. Turns out she was a girl. She said that her name was Faith and it sparked something in me. Maybe this was a sign.
She asked me to lead them to the dragon armor and I lied and said that I knew where it was. I was now going to have to lead her to the armor, but now we had Faith.
Jay's P.O.V.:
Now that Zane and Wu had rescued us, we were wandering through the desert with our new friend Faith, following Wu to where he claimed the dragon armor was.
We decided to take a break and me and Kai were fighting over a cactus fruit to get the water.
Faith came over and split it in half. "There, now you both have water."
When we got done, I realized that something had fell out of my pocket. I picked it up, but not before Kai saw it. I was in big trouble now.
"Jay, is that what I think it is?" Kai pointed to it.
"That depends, what do you think it is?" I smiled awkwardly and held the object behind my back.
"I think it's a medallion." He crossed his arms. "Like the ones someone uses when they ask their significant other to be their yang."
"Ok fine. I admit it." I took the medallion out from behind my back. "I was planning to ask Nya to be my yang but then the whole Sons of Garmadon thing happened and I kept getting nervous and now I regret not asking her when I had the chance because I might never see her again and she'll never know how much I care about her and now she thinks I'm gone. Even if we do get home by the time we get back she'll have a new boyfriend and she won't even remember that I existed and..."
"Jay stop." Kai stopped me from rambling. He looked more sad than he was angry. "I miss my sister too. I've spent my whole life trying to protect her, but if she heard me say that she'd punch me." He laughed. "But if you really love her that much, who am I to stand in your way?"
"You really mean it?" I smiled.
"Yeah, it'd be nice to have a new little brother around." He smiled and ruffled my hair. "I'm gonna make sure we get back in time so you can ask her."
"Thanks Kai." I smiled. "Oh but can we keep this between us for now? I don't want the guys to find out until I know I'm going through to it."
"Why wouldn't you go through with it?" Kai asked.
"Because whenever I try to ask her I get nervous and chicken out." I sighed. "What if I don't ask her right and she says no? What if I start to ask her but then I freeze up and make a fool of myself? What if...?"
"Jay." Kai got my attention. "Don't be nervous, I'll help you find the perfect way to ask her."
"Really?"
"Absolutely." He hugged me. "And besides, it might be nice to have a little brother for a change."
"Thanks for being so cool about this." I sighed with relief.
I was happy that Kai was ok with this. I was worried about how Nya would react, but to be honest it was even more nerve racking to ask for Kai's blessing. I know how protective he can be about his sister so I was kind of surprised he was this ok with it.
"Come on, we must keep moving." Faith said. "It won't be safe here much longer."
"How are you holding up Zane?" Cole asked him.
Zane had been limping an awful lot recently. From what he told us, he had gotten injured when he was trying to save his brother, who we had been asked to call Echo. I remember how helpful he was during his adventures with Nya and I, and I believed that with mine and Zane's help, we could help him remember who he was.
Unfortunately Kai and Cole weren't so open-minded. They didn't remember what Echo was like before he was Mr. E., even after I explained to them everything that happened. They both agreed to be civil around him for Zane's sake, but they always kept their guard up around Echo. And honestly after what he did to Zane, it was easy to understand why.
"I will be fine." Zane said to him. "Thank you Cole."
"Are you sure you can make it?" Kai asked. "We've got a long way to go and your still in pretty bad shape."
"He'll have to keep us if he wants to get there by sundown." Faith said. "We must leave, now."
Zane's P.O.V.:
We went back on the journey towards the dragon armor, if we were even heading the right way that is. We had been walking for a few hours now and my leg was getting harder to move with every step I took. I was slightly falling behind from the rest of the group who were hauling one of the speeders that Faith got to carry our supplies in. My brother stayed back with me.
"I appreciate your concern Echo, but I will be ok." I told him.
"Shouldn't your auto repair have kicked in by now?" He asked.
"Well usually yes, but some of my systems haven't been working properly since..."
I stopped myself as I saw the frown on Echo's face. I had obviously reminded him of what he had done to me, and it looked like he regretted it. But regret is not something a nindroid is programmed to understand on their own, it has to be learned. I knew not to expect an apology from him, but I didn't need one. Just knowing that he wanted to change was enough.
"I am sorry brother." I frowned. "I did not mean to mention that."
"What is this feeling I feel?" He asked.
"What feeling?"
"I don't feel good about what I did to you. I imagine you still feel hurt by me?"
"I forgive you for what happened Echo." I smiled at him. "You were not yourself."
"So we have made amends now?" He questioned.
"Yes, yes we have." I said.
My brother smiled at me. He may not have been back to his normal self yet, but at least we were starting to make some progress.
All of a sudden I heard someone coming from behind us. I looked back and noticed that it was two of the hunters from Baron's army. They were aiming a weapon right at my brother and they fired it. I didn't have time to warn him, so I pushed out of the way and the blast hit me instead. It was electrified and I felt a surge run through my circuits. I saw the two marching toward me before I was knocked offline...
