Garmadon's P.O.V.:

I was staring at my son straight in the eyes. It had been so long since I've seen him and he had grown up so much. He didn't look happy to see me though.

"Lloyd, are you ok? You haven't said anything for the last five minutes." Jay asked him.

"He seems to be in a state of shock." Zane said.

"I thought you said he would be happy to see me." I said to Misako.

"You brought him here?" Lloyd yelled at his mother.

"He's here because you need his help." Misako said.

"I don't need anyone's help, especially not from you." He crossed his arms.

"Lloyd, hear him out." Nya said to him. "He has a good reason to be here."

"I'm sure it's not to say sorry to the son he abandoned." I heard him mumble.

"No, I'm here to help you save Ninjago." I said.

"Guys, I think we should give them a minute." Kira said to his friends.

All of his friends agreed and walked into the elevator, leaving just me, Lloyd, Wu and Misako. He didn't look like he wanted to hear what we had to say, but he definitely had a lot of questions.

"Lloyd, I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was going to get your father, I figured if you knew you'd be too distracted to focus on your mission." My mom said.

"I just don't get it. Why now?" Lloyd asked.

"Because the fate of the world is at stake." Wu said handing him the scroll.

Lloyd read it and realized what was happening, he looked confused, but not surprised.

"Ok but why do we need him?" Lloyd looked at me.

"Because the only way to make sure the Overlord is truly defeated, is to use the power of the Oni." I explained.

"Oni power? You mean I have to..."

"Yes." I said. "It's the only way."

"Well I don't believe that." Lloyd threw the scroll on the ground. "That can't be the only way, there has to be something else we can do."

"If I knew of another way, I would tell you, but I don't." Misako frowned. "Right now, Garmadon teaching you the Oni form is the only chance we have at stopping him."

"I don't care! I'm not going to learn it. There's no way." Lloyd refused.

"The longer you protest, the more danger Ninjago is in." I said.

"No. You walked out on me before and you don't get to come back into my life just because Ninjago is at stake for the millionth time." Lloyd said. "You can leave, we'll find another way to resolve this by ourselves."

"Lloyd wait, I..."

Before I could get the words out he opened the elevator door. His friends all fell out on top of each other.

"We definitely weren't listening." Jay smiled at him.

Lloyd rolled his eyes and was about to go upstairs, but then the alarm on the computer rang. They all ran over to see what was up.

"It looks like your doppelgängers are at it again." Pixal said.

"Looks like they are attempting to rob the museum." Zane said.

"Maybe if we hurry we can catch them." Cole said.

"I can help." I offered.

"No thanks, we got this one." Lloyd said. "You can just go back to wherever you came from."

"What about Echo?" Zane asked.

"You guys go deal with the fake ninja, Skylor, Kira, Pixal and I will stay here and look over more footage to find out where he went." Nya said.

"Alright guys, let's go." Kai said.

Lloyd, Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole all went upstairs to do their mission. The girls stayed behind to research where Echo was taken.

I couldn't believe that Lloyd was treating me like that, however I couldn't say I was surprised. It had been years since I've seen him and because of the way I left him, I was expecting nothing less.

"He hates me." I frowned.

"He doesn't hate you, he just needs some time." Misako said.

"We don't have time Misako." Wu said. "The invasion will begin soon, and when it does there will be nothing to stop it."

"There would be if Lloyd would stop being so stubborn." I crossed my arms.

"Perhaps an amends is in order?" Wu suggested. "Maybe then he'll be open to the idea."

"He'd never forgive me, but I suppose it's worth a try." I sighed. "I shall prepare my words for when he returns."

"Good idea." Misako said.

I grabbed a pen and notepad and began writing my amends to my son, but after a long time I still had no words on the page. How do I start? What do I say? Would this even work? So many questions, so few answers. Hopefully I could find the correct apology before he came back. The fate of Ninjago depended on it.

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

We were on our way to the museum in the bounty. I was trying not to think about my dad, but I couldn't get him off my mind. What he said about me having to turn into the Oni, how could I do that? If I did, I would be no different than him. The Oni form is hard to control and if I lost control and hurt someone I cared about, how could they ever forgive me? How would I forgive myself? Would they still see me as a leader they could trust, or will they just think it's inevitable because I'm the son of Garmadon?

I don't want to be like my father, not even a little bit. I've tried so hard not to be him, to prove the world I was different, that I was the good guy. I had built trust in my city and my friends and I didn't want to lose that.

"Lloyd, we're here." Kai came from behind me.

"Oh, ok." I said snapping out of my thoughts as I picked up my sword.

"Are you sure you're focused enough for this? If you want to sit this one out that's ok."

"No, fighting these phonies will help me release some of my anger."

I followed Kai and we all descended from the bounty into the museum. We saw the place absolutely trashed. I couldn't see our doppelgängers anywhere, however the police were right outside. They rushed into the place and tackled us to the ground and handcuffed us.

"Hey! You got the wrong ninja!" Cole yelled.

"Yeah, we were framed!" Kai said.

"Save it for the judge." The cop said as he pushed me up towards the door.

They escorted us all into a prisoner van and started driving us to Kryptarian. My team looked scared, all except for Zane because he turned off his emotion chip.

"Lloyd, what's the plan here?" Jay whispered to me.

"Just do what they ask, it'll only get worse if we resist." I told him.

"But we can't stop the Overlord from jail." Kai said.

"I'm sure once they see the other ninja out there doing bad things again, they'll realize they got the wrong ninja." I said. "We just have to wait this out."

"There's no telling how long that could take." Cole said.

"My brother is still out there." Zane said.

"And we'll find him Zane, but we have to protect ourselves too." I said. "Trust me, after a few days they'll realize they got the wrong group and they'll let us go."

"I hope you're right." Kai sighed.

Half an hour later, we arrived at Kryptarian prison. They put us in vengestone cuffs and escorted us to our cell. The other prisoners were giving us weird looks as we were walking by.

"I can't believe it. After all we've done for Ninjago." Kai frowned.

"This is bad. This is really bad." Jay panicked. "Do you know how many people in here probably hate us?"

"All of us!" A prisoner shouted, throwing things at us.

"Hey roomies." Jay said nervously.

The guard came and slammed the door to the cell, locking us in. Zane looked around.

"It appears there are only four beds, but five of us." Zane said.

"That's the least of our problems." Kai said.

"Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna be sleeping much." Cole crossed his arms.

"If you are certain, I will take a bunk." Zane said.

"Huh?" Cole questioned.

"How can you be so calm about this?" Jay shouted at Zane.

"You know full well he turned off his emotion meter Jay." I said.

"Well it would be nice to get a human reaction once in a while!" He exclaimed.

"If it would make you feel better, I can switch it on again and react appropriately." Zane said.

"It might actually." Kai said.

Zane turned his emotion meter back on. He stared into space for a second before letting out a scream that could be heard all across the prison. Kai and Cole quickly shut it off again.

"Not helping." Cole said. "What do we do?"

"I vote we break out of here!" Kai said lightning up his fire.

"We can't do that, if we do than that gives them an actual reason to arrest us." I said. "Our best bet is to wait this out. No escape plans, no powers. Eventually they'll realize they've got the wrong ninja."

"Yeah but now that we're out of the way, they're free to do whatever they want." Cole said.

"While we have to sit and watch from here." Kai said sitting on the bed.

"Come on guys, we have to stay positive." I said. "I'm sure in a couple days, everything will work itself out. Besides, maybe the girls have a plan to catch them."

"I hope you're right." Kai frowned.

Kira's P.O.V.:

I was pacing the floor in a panic. The ninja were supposed to be back hours ago, but we hadn't heard from them at all. We've been trying to get in contact with them but no one responded.

"Ninja. Ninja please respond." Pixal said into the communicator. "Ninja, come in!"

"I don't get it. Why would they just disappear like that?" Nya asked.

"They wouldn't, that's what I'm worried about." I said.

"Do you think they're ok?" Misako asked.

"I think I know what happened. Look." Skylor looked at the TV.

"This is Gayle Gossip with NGTV News, coming to you live from Kryptarian Prison. I have just gotten word that the previous heroes turned villains known as the ninja were taken into custody just hours ago."

"I bet the museum robbery was staged to capture them." Misako said.

"Maybe they have a plan to escape?" Wu said.

"That would put a bigger target on their backs." Garmadon said.

"All we need to do is track down the actual fake ninja and show them to the police." I suggested. "Then they would have to let them go, right?"

"That could work, but now that the real ninja are out of the picture, it could force them into hiding." Pixal said.

"Then we have to find them and get them to turn themselves in." I said.

"Yeah, but we have no idea where to start looking." Skylor said.

"Perhaps we could go to the museum and see if they left any clues about where they are going." Pixal said.

"Good idea." I agreed. "Let's go."

"I don't know you guys, maybe I should sit this one out." Nya frowned.

"Why? Are you still feeling dizzy Nya?" I asked.

"I feel fine, but now that I don't have my powers, I don't feel like I'd be that useful." She frowned.

"Powers or no powers, you're still a ninja." Skylor said to her. "We would love to have you join us either way."

"Ok, I'll do it." Nya smiled.

"Come on girls, the boys are counting on us to set the record straight and free them." I yelled.

"We will stay here and watch the monastery." Wu said. "Good luck girls."

"Thanks Master Wu." Nya said.

"Oh wait, the boys took the bounty." I realized. "How do we get there?"

"I have an idea." Skylor said.

Within a few minutes, we all piled into Skylor's noodle truck and headed to the museum. Once we got there, we started looking around and requested to see the security footage. I had donated a lot of artifacts to the museum in the past, so I was a bit of a VIP here. Because of that and the Chen's Noodle House coupons Skylor bribed them with, they let us view the footage.

We were shown to the security room and looked at the cameras. Pixal rewinded the footage right before the robbery.

We saw the fake ninja going around and trashing the place. Then they left and our ninja came in shortly after. The police came in and arrested all five of them.

"Well I guess that confirms it." Nya frowned.

"They were seen exiting through the back door. Perhaps there is a clue out there?" Pixal said.

"That's where we're going." I said.

Me and the girls walked into the back of the building. The only thing back here was a dumpster, so we had to look through it.

After about an hour of dumpster diving, we found something.

"Look at this." Skylor said.

We all looked at her and saw her holding up what looked like Kai's ninja mask.

"Wait, this looks like Zane's." I picked up a white ninja mask.

"And these look like Jay and Cole's." Nya picked up the blue and black masks she found.

"Hmm?" Pixal said scanning the green mask she picked up.

"What is it Pixal?" I asked.

"This mask has no evidence of Lloyd's DNA." Pixal said.

"Maybe these are the bad ninja's masks?" Skylor said.

"Why would they be running around without their masks?" Nya asked.

"Unless their whole plan was to just throw the ninja under the bus." I said.

"Not sure, but we need to find out where they're going." Skylor said.

We went back inside to freshen up a bit after dumpster diving, and then we saw another news report on the tv.

"Breaking news from town hall. With the once beloved, now criminal ninja behind bars, the new Mayor Ulysses N. Trustable has a special announcement. Let's listen in."

The camera cut to see the Mayor on his podium in front of town hall.

"The loss of Nya have hit the ninja so hard they have turned to a life of crime. However, now that the ninja are behind bars, the city will be put into the trust of new protectors. I present to you, the new ninja!"

A group of five ninja in Neon colored suits emerged from behind the curtain. They looked similar to the other ninja, but their colors were teal, orange, yellow, pink, and fuchsia. Everyone was clapping and cheering for them.

"Hello citizens!" The teal ninja said into the microphone. "There is no need to worry because we are here to protect you. And our first act as Ninjago's new protectors, is to fix everything the ninja's crimes messed up."

There were clips behind them of them planting flowers, repairing mailboxes, returning money to banks, all the things like that. There was more clapping and cheering from the crowd.

There was something definitely off about this whole situation. We all looked at each other and we decided we had to investigate. We thanked the staff at the museum for their help and we took the noodle truck over town hall, but by the time we got there the ceremony was over and the new ninja were gone.

"Excuse me, where did the new ninja go?" I asked the janitor sweeping the stage.

"Oh, they said something about going to investigate the vengestone shortage, whatever that means." He shrugged and then went back to his work.

"Investigate the vengestone shortage?" Skylor questioned.

"My guess is they are going to the tunnels that we found." Pixal said.

"How would they know about those?" Nya asked.

"I'm not sure, but it's worth a look." I said.

We all got back in the noodle truck and parked near a subway station. We traveled down back towards the N line when we reached the wall.

"Hello?" Nya shouted.

We heard something moving, then we turned around and saw them.

"Wherever there are criminals..." The orange ninja said.

"Wherever there are convicts..." the pink ninja said.

"Wherever there are felons..." the yellow one said.

"You will find us!" The teal ninja said. "And we are..."

"The New Ninja." They all shouted making a pyramid.

"Seems a little overkill." Skylor whispered to me.

"Hello umm, new ninja." Nya said.

"What are you ladies doing down here? This tunnel is dangerous." The fuchsia ninja said.

"We don't mind a little danger." Skylor said.

"I like her." I heard the yellow ninja whisper.

"Ok, let's cut to the chase." Nya said. "We know you framed the real ninja, and we want to know why."

"Alright fine, you caught us." The teal ninja said, taking off his mask.

The others followed and we saw their sad faces. The teal ninja was a young man with messy brown hair and green eyes. The orange one was a young adult brown haired girl with blue eyes. The yellow one was a blonde teenage girl with brown eyes. The pink ninja was a boy around my age with short black hair and black eyes. The Fuchsia one was a boy with red hair and green eyes.

"So, I'm Cooper." The teal ninja said. "This is Jessie." He pointed to the yellow one. "That's Charlie." He pointed to the pink one. "This is Kelly." He pointed to the yellow one. "And that's Spencer." He pointed fuchsia ninja.

We all stood around confused. These were just normal citizens, what did they want the ninja arrested for?

"I don't understand, why would you do all this?" Nya asked.

"We just wanted to feel like the heroes for once." Jessie said.

"Yeah, those ninja get so much recognition for what they do." Charlie said. "We just wanted a little bit for ourselves."

"Please don't turn us in." Kelly begged. "We were going to put in everything back, we swear."

"I don't know if you guys know this, but there's a threat coming to Ninjago, and if we don't get the ninja out of jail soon, we won't be able to stop it." Nya said.

"I'm sorry, but the mayor entrusted us." Spencer said.

"Yeah, if we turned ourselves in now, the mayor would ruin us." Cooper frowned. "I'm sorry about your friends, but that's just not possible right now."

"Seriously, you're just going to let them rot in there?" I yelled.

"Sorry, but we can't." Charlie frowned.

"But the ninja..."

Before Nya could respond, the new ninja threw a smoke bomb causing us to cough and by the time the smoke cleared, they were gone.

"Well, that didn't work." I frowned.

"What do we do now?" Pixal asked.

"I have an idea, but you're not gonna like it." Skylor said.

"What is it?" Nya asked.

"We're going to break them out." She clinched her fists together. "And I know who can help us."
