Wu's P.O.V.:

I was at the library of Domu with Misako. We had been here for the past year looking for any way to bring Nya back, but we had searched every scroll in this place twice and found nothing. We were starting to loose hope.

Just then I received a phone call.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hi master Wu." Kira said on the other end of the phone.

"Hello Kira. Where are the ninja?" I asked.

"They're on a mission, but I thought you'd like to know that we found a way to bring Nya back, and it worked."

"Really? How?"

"We had to separate her from her elemental powers." Kira said. "It wasn't ideal, but it worked. We thought you'd like to know."

"Thank you Kira." I smiled. "It's nice to know that Nya returned.

"But now we have a different problem." Kira said. "Echo has gone missing."

"What?"

"We have a good idea of where to look and the ninja are looking there now." Kira said. "They could use your help."

"I'll be right there." I said before hanging up.

I turned around and saw Misako in front of me.

"Wu, I found something." She said holding up a scroll.

"No need, the ninja have succeeded in bringing her back." I smiled.

"That's great, but that's not what I found." Misako said. "This scroll tells of the return of the Overlord."

"The Overlord has already returned."

"I know, but this time he'll have an army, one that will no match for elemental powers, and according to my research it will happen sooner rather than later." Misako warned.

"If it can't be stopped by elemental powers, then what can stop it?"

"I don't know, but I think I might know who would." Misako said.

"Misako, no one has heard from him in years."

"There's been sightings of him near Two Moon Village. I'll start my search there." She said. "Go back to the monastery and warn the ninja, I'll meet up with you once I find him."

"Ok, just don't get lost."

"I won't." She said.

"Wait, should I tell Lloyd what you're up to?"

"No, he needs to focus on the mission right now. If he knew who I was looking for he would be too distracted."

"Ok. Good luck." I nodded.

I gave her a hug and we went our separate ways. I headed back to the monastery. I just hoped Misako could find him, because right now he was our only hope.

Nya's P.O.V.:

I woke up and I was in my old bedroom. I looked around and everything was exactly the way I left it. My mom was right, I should've cleaned up a little. I looked at my body and my hands. I was normal again. It had worked.

I got out of bed and realized how dizzy I was. I held my head and walked until I reached the living room. I ran into Kira and Skylor sitting on the couch.

"Nya, your awake!" Kira jumped off the couch and wrapped me in a hug.

"How are you feeling?" Skylor smiled.

"I feel... normal." I sighed. "And maybe a little dizzy."

"It should wear off in a little while." Kira said. "Do you want me to heal you?"

"No thanks, I can manage." I smiled and sat down. "Where are Jay and the others?"

"They're out on a mission right now." Skylor said. "We stayed back so you wouldn't be alone when you woke up."

"What kind of mission?" I asked.

"Echo's been missing and we think it has something to do with the vengestone buyer we've been trying to track." Kira said.

"Jay had an idea of where to look, so they went to check it out." Skylor said. "Pixal's downstairs guiding them through it."

"Why don't you go call your parents?" Kira said. "I'm sure they'd be thrilled to know you're back."

"Oh yeah, you're right." I said.

I went to my room, grabbed my laptop and started to call my parents over video chat. It had been a whole year since I've seen them and I'm sure they missed me.

My mom answered the phone and I saw her face. At first she looked sad, but then she looked up at the screen and saw my face.

"Wait, Nya? Is that you?" She looked closer at the screen.

"Hi Mom." I smiled.

"Ray! Ray come quick!" My mom yelled.

"What is it?" My dad entered the room carrying some blacksmith equipment. He took one look at the camera and dropped it all out of shock. "Nya?!"

"Hey Dad." I smiled.

"I... I don't get it, how did you...?" My mom started.

"It's a long story, but all you need to know is that, I'm back." I said.

"Oh Nya we missed you so much." My mom smiled.

"I missed you guys too." I smiled.

"How is this possible?" My dad asked.

"Well Jay and Kai took the bounty out to find me and Jay fell overboard. I saved him and they reminded me of who I am, who I was." I explained.

"I always liked that kid." My dad smiled nudging Mom's shoulder.

"Anyway, I realized that I was my power, so they had to take the power out of me to turn me back." I sighed.

"You let them take your power?" My mother frowned.

"I wanted them to do it." I defended. "I didn't want to live in the sea forever, I wanted to be with Jay and Kai and my friends, and if I had to give up my powers to get that back, then so be it."

"But the water power has been in our family for decades. We..."

"Are so happy that we finally got our little girl back, and that's all that matters, right honey?" My dad interrupted.

"Right." My mother sighed, but then smiled. "I'm glad you're back Nya."

"I'm sorry Mom, it was the only way." I frowned.

"No I'm sorry. Your father's right, the only thing that matters is that you're back and you're safe." Mom smiled.

"Thanks." I smiled.

"Well we're going to let you get some rest, but stop by when you get a chance ok?" My dad said.

"Yeah, we'd love to see you again." Mom smiled.

"I will." I smiled. See you guys later."

"See you later!" They both waved at the camera.

I turned the computer off and walked back into the living room with my friends. They explained to me what the others had to go through to get the crystal. I felt bad that they had to go through all that just for me.

As happy as I was to be back, without my power I didn't I felt like a ninja anymore. Like I didn't have a purpose anymore. I didn't like feeling useless, it was my greatest fear come true.

"Something on your mind Nya?" Kira looked at me.

"No it's just... I feel too normal I guess." I sighed.

"I thought this was what you wanted." Skylor said.

"It is, and I'm glad to be back, but I was finally happy being the water ninja, now I don't know what to do with my life." I sighed.

"Don't think about that now Nya, just relax." Skylor said.

"You know I'm not good at that." I sighed.

"Maybe some TV will take your mind off things." Kira turned it on.

All of a sudden Gayle Gossip came on TV. That was never good.

"We interrupt this program to bring you a heartbreaking message. Our beloved ninja have come out of the shadows and turned to a life of crime." Gayle said. "They have been so devastated by the loss of Nya, they have resorted to stealing artifacts, destroying property, robbing banks, and causing chaos in the streets."

They showed footage of Lloyd stealing a painting from a painting from the museum, Cole destroying a mailbox with his hammer, Kai and Lloyd walking out of the bank with huge sacks of cash, and Jay causing electrical damage to the signs in Ninjago square. I knew this couldn't be real, but I was gone an awful long time, maybe it was true?

"If you see these ninja, you are asked to contact authorities. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming." Gayle said.

"That can't be them, it just can't be!" I said.

"Of course it's not. Lloyd would never do that." Kira said.

"Wait, let's look a little closer." Skylor said rewinding the TV.

We all looked over the footage together. The suits seemed accurate except for little details, but if you looked at their faces there were clear differences between them and the actual ninja.

"See, they were framed." Kira said. "Lloyd's eyes aren't green like they usually are."

"Yeah and Kai's scar is the wrong side." I said.

"We may know that's not the real ninja, but no one else is gonna believe that." Skylor frowned.

"We've gotta tell Pixal." I said.

"I'll go talk to her." Skylor said.

She started running down the stairs. Just then, Master Wu bursted into the monastery in a panic.

"Ninja! Ninja!" He yelled.

"They aren't here master Wu." Kira frowned. "They're still out looking for Echo."

"There's something I need to warn them about." Wu said.

"Yeah us too." I frowned.

"What do you mean?" Wu said.

We rewinded the footage and showed Wu the news report.

"We need to find them, now." Wu said.

Jay's P.O.V.:

We were traveling through the abandoned subway tunnel hoping to find any sign of Echo or the buyer. I was trying to stay focused on the mission, but I was also worried about Nya. I hoped she was ok after everything that happened.

"Remind me, why are we here again?" Kai asked. "If this was really a base for a criminal mastermind, wouldn't the serpentine know about it too?"

"If it was the active subway lines, sure, but the N line was shut down years ago. It's abandoned." I said.

"According to zoning laws filed with the city, the N line was never completed." Zane said.

"What if the city stopped building the subway tunnel, but someone else finished it?" I suggested.

We kept walking until we reached a brick wall. There was a cart full of vengestone, but not much else.

"This is where the tunnel ends." Cole said.

"Or does it?" I started inspecting it.

"Maybe this whole section of wall rotates around or something?" Cole said.

"Scans detect no hinges or mechanisms of any kind." Zane scanned the wall. "However I do feel Echo's tracking signal increasing."

All of a sudden, the cart started rattling around. We all kept our guard up, ready to fight. Miss. Demeanor and her group of thugs popped out of the cart.

"Hey hey, lookie what I'm looking at! The new and improved bad guy ninja!" She said. "Turn to a life of crime did ya?"

"What? What is she talking about?" Kai asked.

"Don't listen to her, let's just fight!" Cole yelled.

"Oh yeah, let's do this!" Miss Demeanor said.

Kai got a glimpse of her flamethrower. "Gonna be a real short fight, since you wore something flammable to a battle with the elemental master of fire!"

He tried to make his powers work, but they didn't.

"Uh Kai, the vengestone..." Lloyd started.

"Suppresses elemental powers, right." Kai sighed.

"Awe, could happen to anybody." Miss Demeanor said. "But you know what vengestone doesn't suppress? This baby!"

"Look out!" Lloyd yelled.

We all ran around trying to dodge her flamethrower and fight off her goons. Unfortunately since none of us had been training for the past year, we were pretty out of shape.

"Pixal, we require assistance." Zane said into his communicator.

"We're already on our way." She said.

"Wait, who's we?" Kai questioned.

We were able to hold them off until Pixal, Skylor, Nya, Kira and Wu got there. Working together we able to tie up Miss Demeanor and the thugs.

"Great job guys." Lloyd said. "You really saved us back there."

"Yeah, we're really out of shape after our year off." Cole said.

"Nya!" I ran and gave her a huge hug and kiss. "It's good to see you on your feet again."

"It's great to see you too Jay, but we have a bigger problem." She frowned.

"Let's get these thugs to the police." Cole said.

"Probably not the best idea." Pixal said.

"Why not?" Lloyd asked.

"It's easier if I just show you." Skylor said pulling out her phone.

We showed them the news report and saw the shocked look on their faces.

"What? That's not us!" Cole said. "I'm a lot more muscular than that poser."

"We know that's not you, but the town isn't going to believe that." Kira frowned.

"Relax, the citizens of Ninjago are loyal to us." Kai said. "They'll see right through those posers."

"I wouldn't be too sure about that." Skylor frowned. "The whole city is on edge about this. Might be best to lay low for a while."

"I'll drop these thugs off at the station." Pixal said. "You guys head back to the monastery, and don't get caught."

"Guys I'm telling you, no one is going to believe that we just all of a sudden became criminals." Kai said.

"You guys go. I will keep searching." Zane said.

"Are you sure Zane?" Cole asked.

"I feel Echo's signal. He is nearby somewhere." Zane said.

"I'll stay here and help him look." Lloyd volunteered. "The rest of you go back to the monastery and see what you can find out about our evil doppelgängers."

"Be careful." Kira said.

"I will." Lloyd kissed her cheek.

The rest of us took the backstreets back home. Hopefully we could get to the bottom of this before it was too late.
