"Hurry the hell up!"

Eddie shouted up to Steve, returning his attention back to you.

He held your face in his hands gently, desperately trying to help you wake up from whatever trance that demon bastard had you in.

"What's her favorite song?!" Dustin shouted down, a slight screech in his voice.

"Yeah, what are we even looking for?!" Steve added.

One would think that with Steve being your older brother, that would mean that he knew your favorite song. But after you started dating Eddie Munson, you were introduced to an entire new world of metal aside from your favorite classic rock.

Your music taste was now all over the place, indecipherable by anyone—except for Eddie.

Eddie could hear people shouting at each other from further away in the real world, assuming they were fighting about which of his millions of cassettes they should choose.

"Anything I listen to!" Eddie yelled back, "Just grab anything!"

Anything. That's another one of the many things about you that Eddie fell for.

Your taste in music was always something that attracted him to you, the way you loved pretty much every band he did. And if you happened to not know of a band he liked, he loved the way you were so open to listening to new ones.

You loved everything about Eddie, and that included the music that came with him.

"Metal? Anything metal? She's into metal?!" Steve asked in a rapid panic, a hint of disbelief at the end of his words.

"Specifics, Eddie!" Dustin shrieked up at him, "This won't work unless it's a specific favorite!"

Eddie almost didn't hear their shrieks as he focused solely on you, trying his hardest to help you any way he would. He couldn't help but fear the worst, terrified that you would start floating at any minute.

But their shouts drew his attention back upwards.

"Uh-uh—" Eddie stuttered, shaking his head to try and think, "Shit! Second drawer, next to my bed, they're-they're all her favorite cassettes! Grab anything!"

He made sure he always knew which cassettes were your favorites, and which ones you always liked to play. You always left a few at his place, to which he designated a certain drawer to be yours to keep your favorites. For safekeeping.

He turned back to you, hands still cupping your face. "Come on, come on." He gritted under his breath, "Come on, baby, you gotta stay with me here!"

As if you heard him, your eyes suddenly shot open—taking a deep gasp as you fell limp into Eddie's arms.

"Jesus Christ, holy shit..." Eddie exhaled, slowly guiding you down to the ground, "Thank god."

You shuttered, frantically breathing in a panic at what you just saw. You grasped tightly onto Eddie as he held you, his presence anchoring you to reality.

"You're okay...you're okay. I got you, sweetheart." He let out a sigh of relief, closing his eyes as he pressed a kiss atop your hair.

"I got you..."

.

"He showed me things...awful things. Things that haven't happened yet."

The group migrated to Max's trailer, everyone sat closely to listen to you as you told them what you saw. You sat on a chair, across the coffee table from Steve, Robin, and Nancy who sat on the couch—everyone else stood nearby.

As for your boyfriend, Eddie sat closest to you—his back against the coffee table in front of you, his knees bent and slotted with yours to provide you a sense of comfort while also giving you space to think.

He looked up at you with concerned eyes behind his messy hair, listening to you intently.

It hurt him deeply to see you shaken up like this.

"There were monsters—so many of them, coming into Hawkins. And then..." You froze, stumbling over your words.

"And then..." You went on shakily, "He showed me...my mom, a-and my brother."

You looked up at Steve, seeing him give you a sympathetic look.

But then, with an aching heart, you remembered who else you saw.

"Then...then Eddie."

This got your boyfriend's attention as he looked up at you with his signature puppy eyes of concern. Eddie's heart ached for you, hating that demon bastard for what he did to you.

He reached his ringed hand to gently take a hold of yours as it sat on your knee, offering his comfort.

His touch instantly provided some sense of calm for you, and so you went on.

"You were all..." Your voice shook as you felt your composure breaking, the images that Vecna showed you flashed through your mind.

"Okay, but..." Steve interrupted to try and help ease the burden off his sister. "He's just—he's just trying to scare you, Y/N/N. Right?"

"Right! Right, yeah!" Eddie agreed quickly, glancing back at Steve, nodding before looking back up at you.

"It's-It's not real, sweetheart." He spoke softly, holding your hand softly from below.

You shuttered at the mere possibility of it being real, subconsciously holding Eddie's hand tighter.

"Not yet." You rebutted, pausing. "There...there was something else."

"He showed me... gates. Four gates. Spreading across Hawkins. And one of them—" You looked down at Eddie who looked up at you intently. "It looked like the one in your trailer. But it just didn't stop growing..."

Eddie looked up at you with concern and undoubtedly fear in his eyes, a ringed hand pressed to his lips in deep stressful thought while the other held yours for comfort.

"This wasn't the Upside Down. This was Hawkins." You shook your head, looking up at the group. "Our Hawkins."

.

After a very in-depth crash course about Vecna's backstory and everything he showed you, Robin and Nancy took the reins on the discussion.

You had ended up on the couch next to Eddie, leaning into his side as his arm draped around your shoulders—providing you both comfort in the simple touch.

You had been too tired to do anything else but listen to the discussion, your mind still reeling from Vecna's brief hold.

Eddie hadn't said much either except listen and internally panic—subconsciously insanely worried for you.

So it wasn't until Nancy said something that caused you and Eddie to rejoin the discussion.

"We have to go back." She turned to face the group, "Back to the upside down."

Eddie was immediately opposed, sitting up on the couch to rest his elbows on his knees.

There was no way he was going back in there, and no way was he going to let you go either.

"Nope." He waved his hand, shaking his head with a thin grimace, "Nope."

You, however, were not so quick to dismiss the idea.

Knowing what you know now about Vecna's plan, you feared that this might be the only way.

"We might have to go back." You placed a hand on Eddie's bicep, his soft eyes meeting yours as you silently willed him to listen to the reasoning.

You both listened to Nancy and Robin's trains of thought, trying to voice their plan as best as they could while the group tried to follow along.

Robin went off on a quick-fire tangent about how Vecna is ultimately layered down to a number, just like Eleven is. To which Dustin branched off into listing off how if they know El's weaknesses, then they know Vecna's too.

Vecna and El are similar in power, so if El goes into a trance when visiting in the void, in theory, so does Vecna—his physical body vulnerable.

"When he attacks his next victim, I'll bet you he's back in that attic." Dustin theorized, "His physical body defenseless."

Your brother scoffed at that.

"Defenseless?" Steve huffed, "Yeah, what about the army of bats?"

He gestured to the red marks on his neck then pointed to you—referring to your bandaged injured waist that Eddie tended to best he could.

"Defenseless, my ass." You retorted, agreeing with Steve.

"I guess we'll just have to find a way to get past them." He shrugged, "Distract them, somehow."

"Yeah, and uh..." Eddie patted his knees, beginning to stand up, "How would we do that, exactly?"

Dustin looked over at Eddie with an unsure yet unphased expression, "No idea."

Eddie sat back down, defeated. You stood up to better engage in the discussion since you're the one with the inside view of Vecna's mind.

Together, you form a makeshift plan with the group, with Max volunteering herself to be the bait since Vecna claimed her as the next victim—aka, the fourth gate.

Despite everyone protesting her decision, her mind was made up, so you all moved forward with forming the plan—deciding that you'd need weapons and gear to do what you all planned to do.

And that was where your boyfriend came in, knowing exactly where to go.

Eddie went to retrieve a newspaper, bringing it towards the table where everyone gathered around. You stood closely next to him, observing what he wanted to show the group.

"Check this out." He slammed the newspaper on the table, tapping on a specific ad. "War Zone."

"I've been there once. It's huge." He looked up at everybody who listened intently, "They got everything you need for uh...killing things? Basically."

Robin stood taller to look at you over Eddie, "How is any of this legal?"

You smirked at that, raising your eyebrows before Eddie's sarcastic rebuttal kicked in.

"Well, lucky for us, it is. So." He smiles sarcastically before getting back to the point.

"This-This place is just far enough outside of Hawkins." He looked around the table, "So we oughta be able to avoid cops and uh...angry hicks."

Erica spoke up this time, "And where exactly are we supposed to find a ride to this place?"

She was right. The plan to get the battle gear seemed good enough, but the question of how to get there still stood.

"Shit, I got a ride." Eddie offered.

Did he? You and Eddie left his van back at Reefer Ricks when you two ran to hide there, so last you checked, you guys were out of a ride.

"Wait, babe, we're short of a van, remember?" You asked, "So, where are we gonna get a car?"

Eddie stood up slowly to tower over you slightly, his naked tattooed chest stared at you behind his leather jacket. He looked down at you with his signature Munson smirk, his dimple showing.

"Ah, it's not exactly a car, baby." He tilted his head with a grin. "And it's not exactly mine."

You could see the glints of mischief behind his eyes as they wandered your face and lingered on your lips shamelessly—his subtle flirts had you slightly blushing at the close proximity.

He then turned to look at the rest of the group with a pursed grin. "But uh...it'll do."

While whatever plan your boyfriend had might work, you two were still wanted by the police—your faces already being televised on the local news.

"Okay, that's all fine and dandy and everything, Ed's," You began, placing your hand on the back of his leathered bicep to see him turn to look at you.

"But you and I are still wanted, remember? Bonnie and Clyde are being hunted right now."

A look of realization washes over his face, "Shit, right."

He thinks for a moment before turning to Max.

"You got uh...uh, a couple ski masks? Some bandanas, something like that?" Eddie asked, tilting his chin down in question.

Max thought for a second before realizing she had two masks from Halloween a couple years ago. She remembered she had gotten Billy a matching mask in case he was feeling like being a nice brother that night.

So, now you and Eddie wore matching Mike Myers masks, peering around the side of Max's trailer.

Eddie checked to see if the coast was clear, gesturing to the rest of the group to follow you both as you made your way across the grass—and towards his neighbor's RV.

He made his way around to the back of the RV, opening the window to then hoist himself up and fall through it.

You finally realized what he intended to do, and you couldn't help but go along with it since he was already landing on the couch inside the RV.

You climbed up next, falling through the window to land on the couch too—but instead of feeling the couch fabric below you, you felt Eddie instead.

You accidentally landed on top of him, his leather jacket falling to the side to better reveal his chest, his ink peeking out from behind his guitarpick chain necklace. Your own chain that matched Eddie's dangled over his face.

You didn't even realize how close your faces were until your boyfriend smirked smugly up at you.

"Hey there, pretty lady." He whispered with a grin, eyes searching your face fondly.

You blushed slightly with a smirk, "Come on, Munson."

You got up to clasp his hand with yours, helping him up to his feet before your brother landed on the couch after him.

You and Eddie then went to the front of the RV with his bag of things needed to hotwire it.

You locked the front door while he sat down in the driver's seat—biting down on some clamps before reaching into the dash to begin his work.

Steve and Robin came up from behind the driver's seat, questioning his qualifications. To which, Eddie replied with the story of his father's rather superficial way of raising him—a story he's vented to you about before.

"But I'm just startin' this sucker. This other Harrington's got her."

You watched him work his magic, ringed hands working expertly quick to cut and hotwire before the van grumbled to life—the shouts of the owners banging on the door startling you all.

Eddie looked at you with wildly excited eyes, hopping out of the driver's seat for Steve to take his place.

"Hold onto something!" Steve shouted back at you all.

To which Dustin yelled back, "Steve, drive!"

You frantically looked around for something to hold onto, before you felt a leather-jacketed arm snake around your waist from behind while being cautious of your injuries—pulling you into his chest to secure you to him.

Your boyfriend leaned down to your ear, his lips faintly brushing against it.

"Hold on tight, sweetheart." He whispered, and you could practically hear his smirk.

With your brother driving the RV like a maniac, you hung onto Eddie tightly to prevent flying all over the place while you all drove to War Zone.

.

When you arrived at War Zone, you and Eddie stayed behind along with a couple of the kids who sat in the back of the RV.

Eddie sat crouched behind the driver's seat to keep from outside view while you sat under the small booth for the same reason—your back leaning against cushioned seats.

You leaned your head against the cushion, sighing as you felt yourself get lost in thought. Vecna's brief hold on your mind left a lingering feeling, the visions he showed you still flashing through your mind.

Everyone you loved and cared about most, were dead.

You saw it. Your mom, Steve, Eddie

"Hey..."

A low voice interrupted your thoughts with a gentle whisper. You looked up to see Eddie looking at you softly, eyes filled with worry and concern.

"You okay?"

"Yeah...yeah! I just..." You nodded quickly, trying to put on a convincing smile before it fell into a worried huff.

"I don't know." You admitted.

Eddie smiled weakly, and without a word, sat up with a scoot to the side, patting the empty space next to him to offer it to you.

With a tired smile, you get up to go sit in the space he made for you—practically on his lap due to the small space.

He opens his arms to you, inviting you to lean into his side while he wrapped his arm around your shoulder.

You winced a bit as you shifted closer into his side, your injuries on your waist bothering you a little bit.

"How're your kickass battle wounds holdin' up?" Eddie asked quietly with a soft smile.

While your injuries were uncomfortable, the pain wasn't your issue. It was Vecna that seemed to know how to hurt you more.

"I'm fine..." You snuggled closer into his bare chest underneath his leather jacket. "I just...I guess I'm just a lil' freaked out from by all that shit Vecna showed me."

"None of that was real, baby." Your boyfriend leaned in to press a kiss to your forehead, mumbling into your hair. "None of it."

"It just felt...so real." You shook your head into his chest, laying against his inner shoulder—fidgeting with his guitarpick chain around his neck. "That Vecna guy really knows how to sell it."

It hurt Eddie to see you shaken up and bothered like this. It made him hate that demon-dude even more.

"Yeah, well, I'm not buying what he's sellin." He shook his head, "Only seller slash dealer around here is me."

You chuckled weakly at that, grateful that Eddie always knew how to make you laugh—even at times like this.

He smiled down at you, proud that he got you to laugh even for a second. But despite seeing that pretty smile of yours that he loved so much, he couldn't help but feel guilt.

He promised you. He promised he wouldn't let that Vecna bastard get to you, but he did.

It was times like this that made Eddie feel doubtful of his worthiness in being your boyfriend, because here you are—both wanted by police and on the run.

He wished he wasn't so scared. He wished he would have protected you better—he wished he didn't drag you down into this mess.

But ultimately, he needed you to know that with everything that's happened, and everything you've gone through for him—means more to him than you'll ever know. That you mean more to him than you'll ever understand.

If this day has told him anything, it's that he needs you to know that he loves you.

He always has.

He needs you to know that you're it for him.

Eddie reached his free hand down to hold your hand in his. He fiddled with one of his rings he gave you to wear on your ring finger—a promise he more than intended to keep.

"Hey I—" He began to speak, his soft eyes meeting yours as you turned to look up at him.

Dustin paced the RV, checking his watch. "What the hell is taking them so long?"

You ignored the impatient boy, your eyes remained locked with Eddie's in an encouraging gaze.

He searched your face for the right words, lips parting as if to say something, before the RV's door burst open.

You both looked over to see your brother storm inside the RV along with the rest of the crew.

"We gotta go." Steve announced, tossing bags at you at Eddie.

You gave your boyfriend a gentle look as if to say, 'hold that thought,' to which he nodded.

He's been holding this thought for months. What's a few more minutes?

.

Steve found a spot in a pretty remote field to park the RV to give the crew plenty of space to construct the battle weapon necessities away from prying eyes.

You sat beside your brother, while he sat next to Robin, helping them make Molotov Cocktails.

While you focused on pouring the gasoline inside the glass alcohol bottles, you couldn't help but watch Eddie and Dustin mess around together.

You watched the pair play-fight, tackling and chasing each other around. You smiled fondly as you watched Eddie, adoring how playful he is and how he interacts with Dustin.

It made your heart melt—

"Your eyes are shaped like hearts, Harrington." Steve interrupted your thoughts, "Gross."

"Lay off, Harrington." You said with a glare.

You knew your brother was only teasing, and he was right. But he was definitely not one to talk.

"You definitely shouldn't be talking when you get heart eyes every time you even look at Nance." You taunted back.

Your brother huffed at that with a defeated smile, nodding. "Yeah, well. Looks like we both got it bad."

You chuckled, looking down at the bottle you were working on. "You tell her about your six-Harrington-nuggets dream, yet?"

Steve narrowed his eyes at you, "You tell Munson about yours?"

You faltered at that, knowing that you did have a dream about your future.

And it included Eddie.

You haven't told him you're in love with him just yet, because you've been scared that he didn't feel the same way.

You both always talked about getting married after graduation, and he even gave you one of his rings to act as a sort of promise of that.

You knew that he was it for you, but you didn't know for sure if he felt the same.

"Looks like we've both been slacking on that too." You joked.

You returned your attention back to the Molotov Cocktails before you looked up to see Eddie running to jump over Dustin.

He swung his shield around to look in your direction, his eyes meeting yours from across the field. He paused as his face brightened, his eyes speaking a thousand words—a look that told you he really needed to talk to you.

You told your brother you'd be back, handing him your Molotov before you got up to make your way over to Eddie.

"One nail-impaled trash-can-lid-shield, please." You joked once you reached Eddie, ruffling Dustin's hat as he went to join Lucas and Erica.

Eddie smirked, dropping his shield to the ground to make you one. "Coming right up, m'lady."

He grabbed a leftover trash can lid, kneeling to place it over a grate to begin hammering nails into the lid. You moved to take a seat on the other grate, watching him work.

"Jesus." He shook his head with disbelief as he grabbed another nail, "Who would have thought I'd be making my girlfriend a nail shield from a trash can, so we can march into an alternate dimension to defend a town that hates us."

You chuckled at that, shrugging. "Yeah, but if it's not us, then who? You know?"

Eddie paused at that, letting his guilt eat away at him. He felt terrible.

He felt like he was the one who dragged you into all this. He felt like this was his fault that you were both wanted. That it was his fault for not better protecting you from Vecna.

"Listen, Y/N..." He said, as he finished nailing a couple more nails in. "I'm sorry I dragged you into this mess, I—"

"I've been in this mess for the past couple years." You reminded him, "It's not your fault Ed's. It's technically Vecna's fault."

"I still can't believe you've gone through all this shit before...and now you're doing it again." He shook his head, leaning his forearm on his knee as he stared down at the grass.

He couldn't help but feel that while he might not have been the one to single-handedly cause this mess, he certainly didn't make this any better.

He thought it was worse for you because of him. Because you're wanted by the police with him.

All because he ran away.

"E-Except this time..." He paused, looking up at you with a sarcastic smile, "Except this time, you're a wanted criminal and it's my goddamn fault just because you're my girlfriend and I ran—"

"Hey, hey—" You cooed, immediately leaning forward to cup his face in your hands, "None of this is your fault, Eddie. I promise you. This is bigger than both of us. But we got this, I know we do. I believe in us."

You saw his stressed expression melt at your words and touch, calming down as you fixed his self-deprecating thoughts.

"Besides, for you, I'd do this all over again." You smirked, "I kinda dig this whole Bonnie & Clyde situation we got going on right now."

Eddie could tell from your sincere eyes that you were telling the absolute truth. You really believed you guys could do this.

He couldn't help but chuckle at your movie reference, also referring to when you agreed to run away from the police with him. For him.

He stared into your eyes lovingly, admiring your features. He wasn't quite sure how he got to be so lucky to have you.

You made him feel like he could do anything.

Like he could be anything.

You made him feel like a hero, even when he didn't.

He made a decision right there and then, that he wasn't going to run away anymore. He's done running.

For you, he's going to be the hero you've always told him he was.

He wasn't sure why he got so lucky to be given the chance to love you. He knew he had to tell you how he felt, and soon.

You smiled softly at his puppyish look, before he quickly got back to work on your shield. Within minutes, he was done hammering away the nails, and finished your battle shield.

He stood up dramatically, presenting his finished work.

He shoved it in the air, "Durable."

He then aimed it at you, showing you the nail side, "Deadly!"

Until he finally let it rest lazily at his side, "Reliable."

You giggled, staring up at him with admiration as he moved with such theatrics.

"Hear me now, Lady Harrington," Eddie began, his voice deep and gruff while he raised his foot to rest on the crate, "There will be no more retreating!"

He looked fit for a D&D poster, with his ringed hand out reaching for the sky—his naked tattooed chest peeking from behind his leather jacket as he propped his leg on the crate in a battle pose.

He took his foot off the crate, fiddling with the shield as he turned away with a confident smile, "From Eddie the Banished."

While his dramatic yet confident speech brought a smile to your face, you couldn't help but feel a sneaking sense of dread in the pit of your stomach.

Vecna's visions of Eddie's death came ramming back into your mind like a freight train, taunting you.

"You're...you're really ready for this, huh?" You chuckled weakly while standing up, "To go back in there..."

You were worried Vecna's tortuous visions may come true.

Eddie turned to you with a smile, "For you?" He walked closer, closing the distance between you two.

LI'd march back into Mordor any day—a thousand times over again. Well, in this case, into a weird Hawkins filled with monsters and nasty shit, but still!"

You laughed at this, appreciating the way he always made you smile like that.

"It's like you said," He grinned as he looked down at you, his face now only inches away from yours, "If we could survive the Larloch Crypt together, we can do anything."

You found it sweet how he spoke all his feelings through D&D terms, a game you both obviously enjoyed playing together.

His enthusiasm alone was enough to make you believe that you two may actually have a chance to get out of this alive.

"Whether it's against Tiamat or Orcus," You leaned forward to look up and give him a playful smile, "We always stick together."

That was it.

That was what made a switch flip in Eddie that told him he was absolutely done running.

He was done running away from danger, and he was done running away from the possibility of rejection if he told you he loved you.

He was absolutely head over heels in love with you, and your D&D references made him fall for you even harder.

So with a sly grin, he dropped the shield to quickly pick you up by the waist into his arms—twirling you around, both of you laughing wildly as you hugged him tight.

God, he was so in love with you.

He loved everything about you. From your cute smile, to your laugh, to your music taste, to your sense of humor, to your shared passion for D&D.

He loved you. You were it for him.

He set you down gently, looking down at you with a bright smile as you reached your hands to clasp behind his neck. He rested his forehead against yours, his hands draped around your waist—holding you close to him.

"Never change, Y/N Harrington." He said softly, smiling yet his tone had a hidden sincerity underneath it. "Promise me?"

Your smile faltered a bit, his words had this underlying meaning to them. "Eddie...?"

Your boyfriend closed his eyes, nudging your nose with his, "Please, sweetheart?"

While he believed you two could make it out of this alive, he knew there was a very real possibility that one of you didn't.

So for that reason, he needed to be sure you knew how special you were just being you.

You nodded to soothe him, smiling softly, "Yeah...yeah, I-I promise."

"Good...good." Eddie grinned at that with a nod of assurance, his smile radiated confidence.

"I'm done running from things, baby. I'm done being... being afraid."

He was done being afraid of things—of running away from his feelings. He was done being afraid of you not feeling the same way if he told you he was head over heels in love with you.

"I guess uh...what I've been wanting to say is..." He stumbled over his speech, looking for the right words.

But you just looked up at him with soft eyes, encouraging him to go on. You were sure he was going to say something you've been wanting to tell him for the longest time.

"Y/N, I love you. Shit, I am... head over heels in love with you." He confessed, shaking his head in disbelief at how much he felt for you, "I-I just need you to know that."

You smiled wide at that, your heart fluttering at his profession as your face lit up.

He even managed to sneak in a reference to your favorite song from Tears for Fears that came out last year, and that made you love this man even more.

"I love you, Eddie Munson." You smiled, ducking your head with a blush, "God, I love you so much."

Eddie's eyes widened, his entire face lighting up with a bright smile as you looked back up at him with a shy chuckle.

Without wasting a second, he pulled you into him by the waist to press his lips to yours—his touch melting into you at the sweet kiss.
You felt his ringed hands reach to hold your cheek, the cold metal of his rings stung you sweetly.

You two didn't care about everyone else in the field, or the fact that Steve was surely going to kill Eddie if he saw you two.

The kiss was as dizzying as it was sweet, sending butterflies fluttering through your stomach—so when you two pulled away, it left you speechless.

You two chuckled at your dazed expressions, leaning your foreheads together lazily to recompose yourselves.

Eddie reached to hold the hand that you wore his ring on, twirling the ring before lacing your fingers with his.

"I think this is definitely our year, baby. I can just feel it." He smirked with a tilt of his head, his dimple showing.

You chuckled with a nod, "'86, baby. You and me. Bonnie and Clyde."

"Eddie the Banished and his Beloved." He teased, biting the inside of his lip in a grin.

You looked behind him to see Dustin with Erica and Lucas staring at you two—with Erica being the witty kid she is, she was surely talking about you and Eddie's disgusting PDA.

You chuckled, pulling away from your boyfriend to step towards them.

"Hey Sinclairs!" You called, "How're those spears comin' on?"

Lucas shot his hand up to give a thumbs up, to which Erica told him not to.

"I think we'll be the judges and give them a test run." You smirked, holding your hand out for them to toss one to you.

You caught the pole of the spear in your hand, then caught the other one with your other hand.

You turned around to see Eddie giving you an impressed look with raised eyebrows and a smirk of his own.

You tossed him the other spear, raising your eyebrow to dare him. "What do you say we give these shields and spears a test run, babe."

Oh, how he loved you.

"Jesus Christ, when we get out of this mess, I swear to god, I'm marrying you."

Steve turned his attention from talking to Robin to look out at everyone on the field.

He saw you and Eddie play-fighting together, practicing moves, dueling with the spears and shields—giggling and laughing.

He chuckled at you two, knowing that—despite how protective he was of you— he knew that you and Eddie were a good match. You and Eddie complimented each other really well.

And seeing you and Eddie talk things out, and clear the air about your feelings, made him realize that you were right—and he had to do the same. He had to talk to Nancy.

.

While the time spent on the field was a good breather and not to mention fun, it was time to suit up in battle gear—then load everyone onto the RV and begin the battleplan.

The mood shifted drastically in the vehicle, everyone sitting quietly—as if mentally preparing for the battle ahead of them.

You sat next to Eddie, both of you clad in battle gear, with bandanas to match.

Eddie could tell that you were nervous, dreading going back to the Upside Down now that you knew Vecna's motives and plan.

It was a real gamble going back, and you couldn't help but have this terrible feeling that it might not work out for you all this time.

Eddie looked over at you, to which you looked up at him with a thin smile.

"So, I was thinking...date night." He spoke softly, leaning in closer for you to hear, "Me, you, a cold six pack, your favorite candy, and a solid movie."

He spoke so casually, so nonchalant, asking you out on a date as if you both weren't on your way to enter an alternate dimension once again.

But it made you feel better.

"What say you, Princess?" He asked, quirking his brow.

While you were beyond grateful that he was being a good boyfriend and trying to make you feel better, you could tell that he was nervous as well—seeing his fist clench around the spear told you that much.

You looked up at him with a soft smile, reaching to hold his fidgeting hand in yours to comfort him.

"I say, sounds like a date."

.

After dropping the first crew off at the Creel House and going over the battle plan in the RV, you all funnel out of the van to enter Eddie's trailer.

You all make your way into the living area, your brother obviously volunteering to go up the rope first to get the mattress for the rest of you.

Nancy, Robin, and Dustin all make their way up the rope and then you—to which Eddie helps you up.

You climb the rope to land on his mattress, looking up at him with a smirk before Steve helps you up.

Once you all regroup in the godforsaken dimension once again, you all make your way outside of Eddie's vine covered trailer.

Your brother walked ahead before he turned around to look at your team. You stood with Eddie and Dustin in front of Eddie's trailer, ready for your part of the plan.

"Listen, if things here start to go South, and I mean at all, you abort, okay? I mean it." Steve warned you three in his mom-ish tone, before he looked at you at the last part.

Steve then looked at you and Eddie with a nod, "So keep the bats busy for a minute or two, we'll take care of Vecna."

"Don't try to be cute, or a hero, or something, okay?" He added with a shake of his head, "You guys are just the—"

"Decoys." Dustin interrupted.

"Yeah, don't worry." You added, "You can be the hero, Stevie."

"Yeah, absolutely." Eddie jeered, "I mean look at us. We are not heroes."

Steve huffed at that, "Just...look out for each other. 'Kay?"

You took a step forward to give your brother a hug, hoping this wasn't a goodbye. Hoping Vecna's visions don't come true.

"Be careful, you dingus. Okay?" You mumbled into his shoulder, to which he nodded in return.

He glanced at Eddie over your shoulder, as if silently communicating to look after his sister and little brother figure for him while he's away.

And to that, Eddie nodded with understanding.

He'd give his life for you in a heartbeat if it meant saving you. He'd play the hero if it meant protecting you.

And he'd protect you at all costs.

With a final note of Eddie telling Steve to make Vecna pay for what he did to Chrissy and for what he did to you, you three got to work after Steve and his team left.

You all worked together on fortifying Eddie's trailer, boarding up the windows and transforming it into a makeshift fortress.

You take a step back, admiring your work alongside Dustin and Eddie. You three look at each other, smiling before Eddie nudges Dustin.

"Now for the fun part." He said with a tap to Dustin's chest.

He led you three back into his trailer, making his way through the viney hallway to his room—the upside down version of it.

But once he saw his guitar hanging from its post on his mirror, he gasped. "Jesus..."

"Holy shit." You mumbled in agreement.

Dustin only chuckled at how in awe you and Eddie were of his guitar.

"Damn..." You breathed, "She looks gorgeous in this light."

You loved Eddie's guitar as much as he did considering he taught you how to play guitar with it.

"Yeah, it's like..." Eddie began, slowly moving towards the guitar, reaching for it on its mantle. "She was destined for an alternate dimension..."

Dustin chuckled at how excited you and Eddie were about guitars, but he guessed that was to be expected when you're dating a metalhead as diehard as Eddie is.

"Damn, I wish mine was here." You huffed, "Stupid time-warp."

While you initially knew a little guitar before you started dating Eddie, you really picked it up again once you started dating. You got really into it as he taught you more and more, and with Eddie as the teacher, you got really good.

Eddie was so excited for you, he even saved up and bought you a similar guitar to match his for your birthday—but that was about a year or two after Will disappeared.

And since the upside down is stuck in '83, your guitar wouldn't be here.

"Luckily for you, my love, I always kept my first electric guitar." Eddie smirked, moving to his closet.

He shuffled through some things before he found and revealed his first electric guitar, holding it up to you dramatically—as if offering it up to a god.

"There she is!" You exclaimed, eagerly yet gently taking a hold of it as you slid the guitar strap over your head with a swing.

Eddie then went to take his own guitar off the mantle above his mirror slowly, "Are you ready... for the most metal concert in the history of the world?"

Dustin looked at you and Eddie, nodding excitedly. This was definitely going to be a concert to remember.

Eddie then swung his guitar over his back, turning to look at you with a smirk.

"Let's do this, baby."

.

After setting up the speakers on top of the trailer and plugging in your guitars, the first ever concert of the Upside Down was ready for an audience.

As if on time, Dustin got the signal that it was indeed, time for the metal concert.

"Copy that, initiating phase three!" Dustin replied through his walkie.

He then moved over to connect the speakers and turn them up.

"Let's hope they hear this." He mumbled, before nodding the green light to you and Eddie.

"Chrissy, this is for you." He said to no one in particular before he turned you with a smirk.

He sent you a confident grin while he ripped his pick off his chain, "Here's our favorite, baby."

You smirked at that, following his lead and yanking your matching guitar pick off your necklace too.

Eddie started the song with a yell, and you both started playing your recent favorite metal song.

Master of Puppets.

You both strummed on your guitars across from each other, thrashing your heads to the beat of the song.

Dedicated to...

How I'm killing you,

Eddie then moved to place his foot on one of the speakers, bopping his head with the rift as he lifted his guitar higher.

Flashes of deadly red lightning echoed in the clouds behind you two as you propped your foot on another speaker—mirroring him.

Dustin kept an eye on the skies through his binoculars, searching for the bats.

Obey your master

Master.

You and Eddie strummed the guitar at the same time, throwing your heads back at 'master.'

Master of puppets are pulling the strings,

You both continued playing, feeling yourselves getting lost in the song as you focused on strumming this song you've both been practicing for the past couple weeks.

Who would've thought your first audience would be a hoard of murderous bats in an alternate dimension?

"Guys!" Dustin called, "We gotta lockdown in T-Minus thirty seconds!" He held up his fingers to show three-zero.

Eddie nodded once, turning to meet your eyes as you both returned to strumming—preparing for the solo.

This was always the hardest part when you two learned the song together, but Eddie picked it up fairly quickly.

You remembered he was so excited to show you, to play it for you.

To play it with you.

"T-Minus twenty!" Dustin called out, to which you and Eddie nodded.

Eddie gave you one more look, as if to say, 'We've been practicing this one, sweetheart. We got this.'

You nodded, and readied yourself. Eddie dragged out the strings along the neck, the first note of the solo before he dived right into it.

And you followed his lead.

You both shredded the winding chords of the intricate solo, your matching ringed fingers working faster as you and Eddie both bopped your heads to the beat.

"T-Minus ten!" Dustin called out again.

You and Eddie both shut your eyes for this part, concentrated on the solo but confident in yourselves since you had each other to lean on.

"Five!"

You both bent and looked down at your chords, the last strums of the solo had your fingers working overtime as you both bopped your heads to the finale.

"One!" Dustin shouted.

And with that, you and Eddie both looked at each other with a wide mouthed look—tongues out as you brought the guitar neck up to finish the rift with a final strum.

"Now!" Dustin yelled, "Now!"

You and Eddie hurriedly dropped your guitars, racing to the side of the roof to drop down onto the truck next to the building.

"Go, go, go!" Eddie urged you as you followed Dustin.

"Hurry! Let's go!" Dustin led you in through the gated entrance of the trailer.

Eddie followed close behind before he shut the gate behind him—successfully stopping the bats from entering.

Dustin rushed you both into the house, shutting the door behind you three as you caught your breaths.

"You guys..." Dustin huffed, "Were so badass!" He exclaimed, jumping up and down.

You and Eddie jumped up and down with him, screaming in excitement that you actually pulled it off—and did pretty well at it.

Eddie screamed with Dustin, then with you—moving to pick you up and twirl you around excitedly.

You laughed, hopped up on the adrenaline that playing guitar with your boyfriend always gave you.

"Most metal ever!" You yelled, eyes wide with excitement.

"Most metal ever!" He shouted back wildly, wrapping up in his arms.

Eddie was so proud of you, knowing how eager you were to learn the song. You two had been practicing the song together ever since it came out a few weeks ago, and he couldn't be more proud of how well you did.

His girlfriend, the rockstar. Your boyfriend, the metal hero—

Your excited brief celebration was cut short before the sounds of bats attempting to break into the trailer interrupted things.

You felt Eddie instinctively pull you closer to him, before realizing that the bats were trying to get in through the roof.

You all grabbed your battle weapons, standing back to back in a circle to watch out for your surroundings—ready for anything to come at you.

Bats broke through a vent in the ceiling, something you guys didn't think about when boarding up the trailer. The bats tried fitting in, and one by one, you and Eddie stabbed them to prevent them from entering.

Until finally, Eddie grabbed his shield and shoved it into the ceiling with a yell—blocking off the vent.

"Oh shit." You both said at the same time, eyes wide.

"Nice." Dustin breathed.

"Thanks." Eddie huffed, high fiving Dustin then you.

You guys caught your breath, taking a second to recover before Dustin raised an interesting question.

"Are there any more events?"

Eddie looked over at you, realizing there was, in fact, another vent in his room. "Shit."

You three went to check it out, walking slowly towards the vent before the sounds of metal bursting through with the force of the bats funneling into Eddie's room rang clear as day in your ears.

You all run out of the room, Eddie following behind to close the door–preventing the bats from getting to you just yet.

With the bats now infiltrating the trailer, the plan was going to shit. It was too dangerous, and not worth risking your lives to stay any longer.

It was time to get the hell out of there.

"Let's go!" Eddie shouted, guarding you two from behind, "Let's go!"

You hurriedly helped Dustin up the rope, seeing him crawl up to then fall through to the mattress on the other side–safe.

"Go, baby, go!" Eddie warned, keeping an eye on the door that the bats were trying to tear down.

You dropped your battle weapons to the ground, gripping the rope while Eddie gave you a boost to help you up–making sure to keep eyes on the door to his room.

You fell through to the other side safely, hurriedly getting up off the mattress to allow Eddie to fall through himself.

"Okay, here!" You patted the mattress, looking up at Eddie through the gate, "Let's go, babe, hurry!"

You watched anxiously as Eddie dropped his stuff to the ground, tongue sticking out above his lip as he concentrated on pulling himself up the rope.

He was about halfway up when he heard the scratches and screeches at his door grow louder–more powerful and enraged. He knew that the door was about to break down.

"Come on, let's go!" You and Dustin yelled up at Eddie, to which he turned back to look up.

He looked up at you, his puppyish eyes wide with glints of fear but also, determination. He knew that even if he did make it to the other side, the bats would surely follow.

And he couldn't let that happen. Not to Dustin.

Not to you.

He'd protect you at all costs.

You met his gaze, staring into those soft eyes that offered you a glimpse into the kind and metal soul of the man you fell in love with.

Knowing Eddie as well as you do, you knew that look. It was the same look you saw back in the field, when he told you he was done running.

It was the same look he used in D&D campaigns when he was going to do something risky–something heroic.

And you feared you knew exactly what he was going to do now.

"Come on, let's go!!" Dustin shrieked, jumping up and down beside you.

Eddie looked up at Dustin before looking back at you with gentle eyes, slightly sliding down the rope.

"Eddie..." You spoke carefully, as if trying to coax him back up the rope. "Eddie, please..."

He took one more look at the door being torn to shreds by the bats, now just seconds away from being knocked down.

That was it. His mind was made up.

He looked back up at you with the softest look you've ever seen—his puppyish eyes speaking a thousand words as if to say, 'It's gonna be okay, sweetheart. It'll be okay.'

"Eddie..." You shook your head, "Eddie—"

You watched in fear as your boyfriend slid down the rope all the way, moving to get his spear.

"Eddie!!" You shouted, shaking your head.

"What are you doing?!" Dustin yelled up from beside you.

You were about to make your way up the rope to stop him before you saw Eddie take the spear, and slice the rope with a yell.

"No, no—shit!" You curse, the leftover rope falling into your hands.

"Eddie, baby—" You panicked, eyes never leaving him as he moved. "Stop! Stop!"

You watched him from below as he moved with determination, sliding the mattress away to prevent you and Dustin from coming in after him.

You moved your hands to your head, clenching your hair stressfully, "Eddie, what are you doing?!"

Finally, he grabbed the shield to hook it onto his back before looking up at you with soft eyes.

He looked determined—focused and ready like you've never seen before.

"To buy more time." Your boyfriend said, with a calm finality that terrified you.

"Eddie!!" Dustin yelled.

"Baby, please!" You called for him, desperately.

But he walked away.

Despite how badly it hurt him to hear you cry for him like that, he knew he needed to do this to protect you.

"Goddammit!" You cried, frustrated and panicked. "Shit, shit, shit."

"Shit!!" Dustin screeched.

You took a second to think, hands in your hair as you tried desperately to come up with a plan.

You weren't going to let Vecna's visions come true. You just couldn't.

Eddie meant everything to you, and you weren't going to let him slip away from you without a fight.

Without saying a word, you grabbed the half of the rope from when Eddie cut it—checking the leftover length. It could work.

You hoisted it up to the gate, letting the alternate gravity from the Upside Down make it float between the worlds.

"Y/N...what are you doing?!"

The rope was obviously shorter now, and you'd have to jump to meet it. You quickly grabbed a chair to stand on first—hoisting yourself up the rope to climb up again.

And before you could question if you could make it or not, the Upside Down's alternate gravity pulled you through the gate—and you landed on the ground with a thud of your feet.

"Shit." You huffed. You made it.

You scrambled to pick up the other shield and spear you left, lifting the blade to cut the rope yet again. There was no way you were going to let Dustin come back in here.

As hard as it was to ignore Dustin's shouts for you to stop, you needed him safe as well.

You paused to stare up at him with apologetic eyes, slinging your spear to your side. "I'll be right back, Henderson. Stay here, bud."

"Y/N, stop!" He yelled as you walked away, to which you had to shut your eyes and ignore him to keep moving through Eddie's trailer.

You ran out of the trailer, slamming the door open to run out into the open.

"Eddie!" You yelled, frantically searching for him.

You looked around before you finally saw Eddie on a bike off in the distance—riding away like his life depended on it—with the swarm of bats following closely behind him.

You tried to run after him as fast as you could, but the distance between you two kept growing with every pedal he made to lead the bats away.

Until suddenly, you watched as a bat knocked him off the bike–sending him to the ground. He scrambled to his feet, abandoning the bike as he began to run away.

Until he stopped.

He froze in his tracks, pausing as he thought for a moment. All he could think about was you and him–talking in the field earlier, faces glowing and hearts beating for the other.

He remembered what he told you, and what you told him then and before.

'I'm done running from things, baby. I'm done being...being afraid.' He told you.

'I love you, Eddie Munson.' Your words rang sweetly clear in his mind as he remembered.

'You're my hero. In D&D, and always.'

He closed his eyes as your voice sounded softly in his head. You were all he needed to believe in himself.

He was done running. It was time to be the hero you always saw he could be.

He turned around slowly, reaching for his shield and spear to hold them in either hand–ready and bracing himself.

You watched as he faced the danger, instead of running away. He chose to stay and fight.

But you didn't want him to play hero this time. You couldn't afford to lose him.

"Eddie!" You shouted in fear, watching from afar as the bats swarmed him–his shield and spear taking hits as he yelled.

You began to run towards him, only to be stopped by stray bats who sensed you—now moving to swarm you as well. They blocked your way to Eddie, circling you in a threatening trap.

The only way to get to Eddie and help him, was to fight your way out.

You swung your spear the same way you did with the bats you and Steve used against the demo dogs—using those skills to defend yourself.

But while you had experience with fighting off creatures from the Upside Down, Eddie did not.

He fought bravely, successfully holding off the bats for a while. But then, they became more aggressive—overwhelming him entirely.

You turned your back on the bats for just a second to see Eddie getting dived at more intensely—too many of them attacking him at once.

He was losing.

He was suddenly thrown to the ground, the tentacle-like tails of the bats both strangling him and holding his arms and legs—defenseless against the bats digging into the flesh of his torso just like they did to Steve.

He yelled out in both pain, and undoubtedly, fear.

"Eddie!!" You screamed, absolutely horrified.

But while your back was turned to the murderous creatures surrounding you, that was all the bats needed to gain the upper hand over you.

They each dive bombed you one by one, each taking turns to scratch and slice you with their talons—causing you to cry out in pain as Eddie did too.

You fought back as best you could, yanking the bats' jaws away from your flesh as you fought your way out of the swarm—groaning in pain at your gaping wounds from their bites.

"Eddie!" You yelled, finally being able to fight off enough bats to run over to help your boyfriend.

Despite bleeding and being wounded yourself, you forced your way into the swarm of bats that circled Eddie—fighting your way to him.

You finally caught sight of him on the ground, writhing and yelling in pain as the bats had him pinned down—blood seeping everywhere.

Vecna's vision of Eddie's death that he showed you happened just like this. And it terrified you.

But there was no way in hell you were going to let it come true.

It was a horrifying sight that made your heart drop chillingly, but it was that dreadful feeling that fueled you to jump into action.

You immediately swung your spear at the bats that were tying Eddie down, killing the ones that held him by the neck and arms.

He broke free from their grasp on his arms, to which you then moved to swing away the ones feeding off him—blood coating his body and mouth as he coughed from the release of his neck.

But while you protected him, you had almost forgotten that the bats had gotten to you as well—your own blood seeping through Eddie's hellfire shirt he gave you to wear.

"Y/N!" You heard Dustin shout faintly from a distance away, "Eddie!"

You dropped your spear and shield as you fell to your knees besides Eddie, suddenly feeling very weak. And you just needed to be close to him.

But oddly enough, the bats suddenly fell limp to the ground in a synchronous drove—which told you that Steve and his team got the job done thanks to Eddie's buy of time–letting you finally take a breath.

"Y/N, Eddie—guys, holy shit!" Dustin shouted in a panic as he reached you two with a limp. "Oh god, oh god..." He mumbled.

You limply made your way over to Eddie, cradling his head in your lap. "Oh god, Ed's..."

Eddie looked up at you with those eyes that you could always lose yourself in—blood coating his lips as he tried to force a joke. "That bad, huh?"

You gave him a once-over, knowing his wounds were serious, but not fatal. It was the blood loss that worried you the most.

"No, no, you're—" You shuttered, coughing a bit of blood from your own injuries.

"Are you o-okay?" Eddie asked in a shiver, stuttering over the blood in his mouth, "Y-You're hurt, baby. You're h-hurt—"

He gestured a shaky hand to your bleeding torso, red seeping through the shirt he gave you to wear.

You nodded with a weak smile, reaching to stroke his cheek gently.

You couldn't believe that even while he was bleeding out himself, the first thing he does is ask if you're okay.

"I'm fine—we're gonna be fine." You nodded, trying to convince yourself and him the best you could. "We're gonna get to a-a hospital, okay?"

You began to help Eddie up, before you both winced in pain at your injuries.

"Guys, come on!" Dustin urged, desperate to get both his friends to safety.

"Just—just give me a minute..." Eddie breathed.

"Yeah...yeah, just a minute." You agreed, wincing as you kneeled back down to cradle Eddie's head in your lap.

Dustin clenched his eyes in fear, trying to hold back the tears. He took a step away to give you and Eddie a minute.

"You came back for me—back into Mordor." Eddie shivered, forcing a smile for you.

"Of course I did." You smiled weakly, "It's you and me, remember?"

Eddie nodded, "Whether-whether it's against Tiamat or Orcus."

"We survived the Larloch Crypt together. We can survive this." You smiled, fighting back a cough of blood from your injuries.

Your lover looked up at you with a weak smile, lips coated in dark red as he tried to speak.

"I didn't run away this time, right baby?" He asked between shivers.

You shook your head with teary eyes, the sounds of him gargling on the rising blood in his throat made you wince.

You pushed his hair out of his eyes, stroking it soothingly out of his face.

"You didn't..." You sniffled, "You're a hero, baby. My hero. Just like you've always been."

Eddie beamed at that, heart warmed by how even as he laid here—as near death as he's ever been, you made him feel like he could do anything. You made him feel like a hero.

"I love you so-so much, sweetheart," He shuttered, as he reached a shaky hand up to your cheek with a weak grin, "You k-know that right?

You couldn't help the tears from skipping over your cheeks and onto his hand that held your face.

"I love you too, Eddie." You sniffled, reaching up to hold his hand in yours.

Dustin stepped in again, not being able to handle hearing what sounded like final goodbyes.

"We're gonna get you guys out of here—" Dustin began to say, only to be cut off.

"No rush, man. I'm doing j-just fine here." Eddie told him, smiling up at you weakly with his puppyish eyes as he held your hand over his chest. "Just fine."

You winced as you shifted, your breathing became more labored—your body grew weaker by the minute as you lost blood.

But this moment with Eddie was more important.

"You're gonna have to—" Eddie looked back at Dustin with teary eyes, "You're gonna have to watch over those little sheep for us, okay?"

Eddie truly believed he was at the end—and he believed you were too.

But somehow, the idea of death didn't seem too scary with you right here with him.

"What?" Dustin panicked, "No, no, you guys are gonna do that yourselves!"

The Hellfire Club was how you and Eddie first met Dustin, spotting him looking like a lost sheep in the cafeteria.

You two were the leaders of the Hellfire Club, or, the 'Lord and Lady' of the club as Eddie liked to say.

"Nah man..." Eddie shook his head, "We're actually gonna g-graduate this year." He breathed with a weak smile.

He turned to look at you with those sweet eyes you loved, "Then I'm gonna marry this girl."

You smiled down at him, your heart fluttering despite the tears skipping down your cheeks.
You leaned down with a wince of your injuries to press a kiss to his forehead–leaning your temple against his.

"It's f-finally our year, baby." He shook his head, to which you grinned.

"'86..." You chuckled weakly, coughing slightly, "Bonnie and Clyde."

Your vision got blotchy, the blood loss surely kicking in as it was for Eddie as well. His eyes fluttered heavily.

You were both fading fast. But funnily enough, it didn't seem so scary as you held Eddie's hand.

You heard footsteps rapidly approaching, to which Dustin screamed for their help.

"Steve, help!"

The last thing you saw was Eddie looking up at you with those sweet eyes you adored. It was just you and him.

Your vision blurred as your eyes fluttered shut— everything fading away to black.

.

You woke up a day later in the comfort of a bed that wasn't yours, but looked to be inside a secluded cabin. You heard voices murmuring on the other side of the closed door of the room you stayed in.

You sat up with a groan of pain, looking down at your body to see your waist wrapped in gauze underneath one of your oversized pajama shirts that so happened to one of Eddie's band shirts you stole. You assumed Steve stole some from your drawer, in which Nancy helped put it on you.

You looked around the room, deciding you were definitely at Hopper's old cabin. But as you surveyed the room, your eyes landed on Eddie.

He laid down on a cot across from you–unconscious as his arms were hooked up to IV's and a machine that read his vitals.

"You're awake."

You turned to the now opened door, seeing none other than your brother leaning against the door frame.

"What happened?" You asked with a tired voice.

Steve huffed, "You two fought one hell of a fight. You and Munson here were passing out when we got to you." He explained, arms crossed in his mom-ish way.

"Thought I told you not to play hero, Y/N/N."

You sighed. "I couldn't leave him, Steve."

"Yeah." Your brother nodded with a thin smile. "I know."

He went on to explain that everyone helped you and Eddie back through the gate, though you were in and out of consciousness.

They didn't know where else to take you since you and Eddie were both wanted by the police, so Nancy suggested taking you to Hopper's cabin since she's been there before and it was pretty secluded. Steve and the crew stayed with you and Eddie all day, stocking up the fridge with junk food and jello cups to tide them over as they stayed.

They pulled some strings with the government and Dr. Owens, who coincidentally called the cabin in search of Eleven to see if she made it back home safely. That was how Steve asked him to send some people for medical assistance without leaving you and Eddie in the hospital since you've been on the run.

"Is he...is he gonna be okay? What did they say?" You asked, turning to survey Eddie's injuries.

His shirt was off for whoever was working on sewing up his wounds, a bandage wrapped around his waist as well.

"He's gonna be fine, Y/N. He got some pretty gnarly bites, a little worse than you." He explained, "But he's pullin' through."

You nodded, moving to swing your legs off the bed and get up–despite your brother's protesting.

As you made your way closer to Eddie, the more injuries you saw. His tattooed chest and waist was littered with bruises and stitches–dried patches of blood scattered.

You looked up at his face, reaching to brush the hair from his eyes as he slept. And without a word, you moved to lay down on the bed beside him–laying your head gently on his chest.

You focused on hearing his breathing and the rhythmic pattern of his heart pumping strong, the sound of life prevailing pushing away your worry.

.

Throughout the rest of that day, you stayed by his side the entire time as you waited for him to regain consciousness.

You brought him flowers, you read him Lord of the Rings and told him ideas you had for the next D&D campaign.

The next day, you actually faced the world.

You went over with Steve to the Wheeler's house, helping out with whatever they needed help with in the aftermath of the 'earthquake.'

You finally saw the other half of the crew pull up in a 'Surfer Boy Pizza' delivery van, so the reunion there was something you definitely needed.

"Hey..." Steve came up to you after you greeted everyone again, "How're you doing?"

You appreciated his concern, but shrugged; fidgeting with Eddie's ring on your ring finger.

"Alive."

He chuckled slightly at that, nodding. "Me, Henderson, and Robin are gonna head over to the school to help out. Wanna come with?"

You could tell your older brother wanted to keep an eye on you, but you didn't wanna leave Eddie alone for long–just in case he woke up and you weren't there.

"I was gonna go with Nancy and the kids back to the cabin." You answered with a hopeful smile, "To see Eddie. I think he might break through today."

"If he does, I swear to god, his stitches better still be intact when I get back." He warned.

"Steve!"

.

As you pulled up to the cabin, everyone got to work restoring it to its former glory after the Mind Flayer almost destroyed it.

You went inside, passing by everyone to make your way to the room Eddie stayed in.

You closed the door behind you, turning to look at the cot he was staying on–expecting him to be asleep and unconscious.

But there he was–sitting up on the cot with his back against the wall–blanket over his legs with the Lord of the Rings book you brought in his lap as he brought a spoonful of jello to his mouth.

His face immediately lit up upon seeing you.

"Hey there, sweetheart." He smirked.

"Eddie!" You squealed.

He threw his jello cup to the side and got up from his cot as quickly as he could with his injuries, standing up to engulf you in his arms.

You buried your face in his shoulder as he buried his in the crook of your neck, exhaling with relief at the feel of holding you in his arms.

He'd never felt so relieved to hold you–to feel you, safe and in his arms again.

He'd never been so scared to lose you before.

And neither have you.

"Thank god..." You breathed, "I was so damn worried."

"I'm here..." He reassured you, reaching his still ringed fingers to gently caress your head through your hair.

"I'm here, baby. Right here. I'm okay. Gonna have some kickass battle scars to match yours, but I'm okay."

You smiled weakly before he pulled away from you for a minute, taking a step back to give you a look over–his eyebrows suddenly etched in concern as he remembered that you were injured too.

"But shit baby, what about you?" He held your face in his hands, checking you over. "Are you okay?" He asked softly.

You chuckled, ducking your head before looking up at him. "Now I am."

Eddie smirked his signature Munson grin, his eyes looking down at you with a love you would never get tired of seeing.

"That was corny, babe." He joked.

"Oh my god–" You laughed, "Fine!"

He laughed with you as he pulled you into him, chest to chest, waist to waist–his arms holding you tightly as if fearful you would slip away from his grasp.

He reached his ringed hand to hold your face in his palm, stroking your cheek softly as he studied your face–in pure disbelief that you two were right here, right now.

Alive, and together.

You looked up at your boyfriend with glistening eyes, both of you just soaking in each other's presence.

A long overdue moment of peace.

"I'm happy you're okay..." You whispered, nudging his nose with yours. "Really damn happy."

Eddie smiled softly at that, absolutely head over heels in love with you and your kind heart.

"I had to pull through for my girl..." He smirked, leaning his forehead to yours, "It's our year, and I'm gonna marry her."

You giggled at that as he hooked his finger underneath your chin, guiding your lips to meet his in a sweet kiss–absolutely melting into each other.

He poured all his emotion into that kiss, all his gratitude and relief that he was here with you.

And most of all, all his love and adoration for you. He didn't need words to tell you how much he loved you. You two just knew.

Your heart skipped a beat in his touch as he held you close, both of you holding onto each other like a lifeline after what happened.

Your bond now forged stronger with the shared music, shared hearts, shared passions, and now, shared scars and trauma.

You two knew there was a lot going on in Hawkins right now, and a lot of stuff to be discussed about the police, but right now, it was just you two.

You pulled away for a breath, foreheads leaning together, soaking in this moment's peace. Eddie brought you closer, holding you in his chest as he leaned his chin atop your head–gently swaying in place with you.

It was a nice quiet, peaceful moment. Until he noticed something outside.

"Uh, baby?" He asked, unsurely.

You hummed in response, still relaxed into his bare chest.

"Is it just me and the damn good pain meds," He started, to which you looked up at him, "Or is it uh...snowing outside?"

You turned to look out the window he was looking out of. His hand fell down your arm to lace his ringed fingers with yours, following you as you walked outside of the cabin.

Flakes of what looked to be snow fell through the air, the sky now darkening with sickeningly familiar clouds. You held Eddie's hand tighter at the sight, to which he squeezed back as he looked up at the sky through the trees.

The Upside Down was bleeding into Hawkins, just like Vecna showed you.

"Shit."
