Chapter 8: I'll Only Warn You Once

I sigh as I walk through the hallway with Blaze. Salem continued to ignore me all of yesterday evening after school and even this morning, which is beginning to bug me more and more. He won't even give me a reason why, he just shuts me out. Last night when I went to ask him a simple question he slammed his door in my face. It wasn't even related to the fact that he's ignoring me!

"What's up with them?" Blaze asks as she glances around at the people cowering away from her.

"They're afraid of you," I say.

"Good," Blaze smiles.

"M-miss Blaze," A guy in our grade runs up to us and addresses her while holding a paper with shaky hands and staring at his feet, "Y-you left this in the classroom..."

"Oh, thanks," Blaze says and takes the paper from him.

He yelps and runs off in fear the second that she takes the paper. Blaze and I watch him as he scurries down the hall as fast as he possibly can.

"It seems that you've made quite an impression," I say.

Blaze laughs and the two of us start walking to our next class. Blaze is in my current events class, which Cherise is also in, but she didn't get to have it yet because she started yesterday afternoon. Blaze met Cherise yesterday in one of her afternoon classes and the two got along pretty well, which made me relieved when I found out. We enter the classroom and Cherise waves to us.

"Hey," I smile and sit down in my seat, while also lying my books down on the desk.

"Hi," Blaze says and sits down in the desk behind Cherise.

"What's up?" Cherise asks.

"Not much," I shrug and turn sideways so that I'm facing her, "What about you?"

"Just piles and piles of homework," Cherise sighs, "Anyways, how's your problem going?"

Cherise and I have been calling my issue with Salem my "problem" lately. Technically it is a problem, but that way people won't really question it.

"Everything's still the same," I frown, "I'm not sure what to do."

"Demand that he listens to you and if he doesn't agree with your terms then slowly and painfully --"

"Uh," I cut Blaze off, "Whatever you're going to say probably isn't the best idea, so I'm just going to say that that's my last resort if I ever have to come to one."

"Suit yourself," Blaze shrugs.

"Hello class," Mr. Ganden walks in and stares at his lesson plans, "Today we'll be talking about how pop culture is currently changing and what some of the changes are in it, as well as what effects the changes have on our society. Please take out your materials that you'll be needing for notes."

I turn around to the empty desk behind me and grab my notebook, and while doing so I notice that Asher, the guy behind Blaze, has his feet propped up on her chair and they're resting beside her shoulder. Blaze's right eye twitches and she breaks her pencil lead while writing something down. Someone knocks on the door and Mr. Ganden sighs.

"Excuse me one moment, class, please continue finishing up the notes that are on the board," Mr. Ganden instructs.

Mr. Ganden walks across the room to the door and walks outside into the hall. After a few seconds of taking more notes Blaze sits up entirely straight and speaks up.

"Are you going to move your feet?" She asks and the room grows silent.

People turn their heads towards Blaze and watch with a mixture of curiosity and a sense that something very bad is about to happen.

"Now, now, Princess, why would I want to do that?" Asher raises a brow.

"Uh-oh..." Someone whispers.

"He's dead," Someone else says quietly.

Blaze slowly turns around in her chair to face the auburn haired boy as he chuckles.

"Move your feet," Blaze says, "I'll only warn you once."

"Hmm," Asher tilts his head to the side and raises a finger to his lips, "How about no?"

Blaze stands up from her seat and walks over to Asher. She grabs him by the shirt collar and hoists him up, but his expression doesn't change throughout the entire process. She leans her face extremely close to his and narrows her eyes at him.

"Don't you dare ever defy me," Blaze hisses.

"Or what, Princess? What are you going to do about it? Lean dangerously close to my face so that you can get a better look at it? I understand that I'm beautiful but come on," Asher smirks.

Blaze scowls and throws Asher back into his seat and he hits his head off of the window in the process. Asher rubs the side of his head and scowls at Blaze as she sits back down in her chair. He rolls his eyes and places his feet back up on her chair once again. She pushes his feet off and he puts them right back up again. Throughout the entire class period this happens over and over again and I sigh and shake my head. Cherise looks over at me and shrugs when I motion in their direction with my head ever so slightly. Well, I have a feeling that these two won't stop any time soon. Or possibly ever.

I look back and forth at the food choices for today and I end up picking the chicken noodle soup while going through the line. I meet up with Cherise and Blaze at what we consider "our table" since we sit there everyday now. Blaze bites into her sandwich and glares behind my head at Asher, who is sticking his tongue out at her and crossing his eyes from across the room as he goes to his table.

"I really wish he wouldn't bother you," Sapphire, who is one of Cherise's friends, sighs and looks down at her tray, her long brown locks with a few blue streaks in them cover her face.

Sapphire raises her head back up and moves her hair out of her face and smiles, her blue eyes scanning all of our faces.

"I wouldn't worry about it," Cherise speaks up, "Blaze can handle herself."

"Well, yeah," Sapphire nods, "It's just that he'll probably get annoying over time."

"He'll just give me more opportunities to yell at him and hit him," Blaze smiles and grabs her spoon for her soup.

"I'm sure you'll enjoy that," I chuckle and smile.

I glance out the window and smile softly as the rain begins to fall and trickle down the windows. The wind blows and the trees sway slightly in the storm. I can almost smell the ozone and the smell of the water and I can almost feel the warm, springtime wind blowing in my face. I haven't been outside in a storm in a while, not to mention flying in one. I love flying in storms, it just gives me this wonderful feeling that I can't explain. However, as I'm staring out the window a foreboding feeling washes over me and Blaze's Arcane Map radiates a signal to her phone, which blings.

"Oh," Cherise points her spoon towards Blaze, "It looks like someone's texting you."

"Yeah," Blaze pulls out her phone and stares at the screen before glancing at me and nodding, "It's just my mom asking if I want anything from the grocery store."

"Sorry guys," I smile sheepishly, "I need to go to the bathroom, I had too much to drink this morning and I haven't went since I woke up. I'll be right back."

"Okay," Cherise and Sapphire say simultaneously.

I get up from the table and walk through the cafeteria and down the hallway until I'm out of sight and then I sprint for the nearest exit. I race out the doors and once I'm outside my clothes automatically transform into my armor with a flash as I leap up into the sky and take off in flight. I fly around the school and then fly up while summoning my weapon until I come to the reason that Blaze's Arcane Map went off.

"More Specters?" My eyes widen in surprise.

I clench my jaw and fly towards them, drawing my sword back and swinging it down on one when I'm close enough. I kill them by the dozens by flying around and swinging my sword in all different directions, avoiding being caught by any in the process. I look around as more and more keep appearing and I narrow my eyes slightly.

"Sakti!" I shout and the chains around my sword glow and more wrap around it, and my sword glows and it doubles in size.

The hot pinkish-orange-red jewels on the chains on my sword also glow slightly instead of not at all. I raise my sword and swirl around, taking out tens and tens at a time. They disperse and shadows float around as they disappear into thin air. I jump over one and slash through another before twirling around my blade and slashing through two more. I then lunge my blade forwards through the one I jumped over and it disperses with the rest. I fly back a little bit and stares at the now plain old sky and send away my weapon. My armor flashes back into my regular outfit and I fly back down to the ground.

"Man," I mumble as I look back up at the raining sky, "Where are these things coming from?"
