Reliable trust

"So... Are you okay?" Lance walked behind Lotor through the halls with his hands behind his back.

"What do you mean?" Lotor looked back at him.

"Well what happened out there? Why'd you come back so soon? Well not soon but you know," Lance explained and they stopped.

"They're learning, getting use to the lions, I was hit and I had to retreat back to the cruiser," Lotor explained.

"The blue lion froze my left wing, nothing serious," Lotor nodded at Lance.

"Who was piloting?" Lance asked with worried eyes.

"Someone not as familiar with the blue lion as you," Lotor set his hands on lances shoulders gently.

"Your cold," Lance put his hand over Lotors confused. It was cold, very cold.

"The ice was near my engine on the wing, took the heat let's say," Lotor shrugged and slid his hands down to lances arms feeling his warmth through the suit.

"Thanks," Lance smiled at him.

"For what?" Lotor asked.

"Not killing them, I know you could've but you didn't, thank you for that," he explained and Lotor smiled softly at him.

"Of course, I know it's hard for you to be in this situation, but I thank you for it as well, for being reliable," Lotor chuckled softly and lances heart skipped a beat.

"Trust goes two ways right?" Lance smirked.

"That's correct," Lotor nodded.

"Well, let's just say I trust you a little more now, you know for not being a psychotic dick and all," Lance shrugged and Lotor sputtered a laugh at the choice of words.

"I appreciate that Lance," Lotor laughed at him and Lance laughed a little covering his mouth.

"You know this isn't bad, I think people judge galra to much," they started walking once again. It was casual and relaxing.

"Is that so?"

"Yea, Keiths part galra too, so I guess that proves it even more, sure your with the empire but there's a difference than you and zarkon, you know?" Lance smiled up at him.

"I guess you are correct," Lotor smirked.

"So as you've stated before, I'm not all that bad of a guy?" Lotor teased leaning down a little and Lance turned red.

"I never said that!" Lance cried out.

"I believe you where 'out of it'?" Lotor chuckled and Lance huffed turning away as Lotor laughed a little more.

"Not my fault you guys drugged me," Lance mumbled and Lotor put a hand on his shoulder smiling down at him.

"But it was for the best sharpshooter," Lotor grinned and Lance giggled a little at him.

"Defiantly, cause your not that bad of a guy," Lance teased.

"So you agree?"

"I don't know what your talking about," Lance giggled walking away as Lotor smiled softly at him even if Lance couldn't see.

"So are you doing okay?" Lotor asked after a moment of silence.

"Yea why wouldn't I be?" Lance inhaled deeply and forced a smile.

"You tell me," he stated and they both stopped in their tracks. "For all I know you are perfectly fine with every lion of voltron being piloted,"

"Ha, why wouldn't I be okay? After knowing ever since i can remember that I was a burden to my team then as soon as they found the opportunity for me to be out of their hair, that they don't even bother to save me from being captured, that they instead find the galra with a new planet and didn't bother to try finding me?" Lance laughed sarcastically not daring to make eye contact with the prince.

"I am perfectly fine knowing I've always been right, that I will never be the Paladin they've wanted, that they've been freed from me and I don't even know if they cried when I was taken," tears started to weld up in his eyes.

That made Lotors chest tighten seeing a tear running down Lances face but the Paladin laughed with a smile thinking that would hide his pain.

"I'm fine, I'm fine with it, but I don't even know where I can go, I don't know where I belong anymore and I am just so tired not knowing where I belong, and I don't know what to do," he laughed again but it turned into a hiccuping sob as he gripped his short hair.

"I don't know what to do Lotor, I hate myself for never being enough for anyone anymore," more tears fell down his face.

"I know your going to leave me too when I stop helping you," he covered his face sobbing into his hands.

"I thought they would at least try... I thought-" he cut himself off with a heavy sob, gasping for a breath inbetween.

Lance heard Lotor walk away from him, going somewhere else.

Until arms wrapped around him from behind as Lotor stood behind, his chin resting on top of Lances and held him close. This being the only way he's known to help with comfort.

"I'm so sorry lance," he whispered as Lances jaw quivered.

"You will always be welcomed to me," Lotor told him gently. "Because I've felt this pain, and you will never be alone, I promise you that,"

Lotor closed his eyes but gasped softly when lance quickly turned around and hugged him back no longer sobbing, but tears were still running down his face. Lotor pursed his lips as he patted the top of his head a little and kept one arm around him. Its been so long since Lotor felt empathy...

"I trust you Lo," lance mumbled keeping his eyes down.

"I'll do my best to keep it," he smiled sadly.
