Mercy for a rebel
Lance walked down the halls with nayla as she was explaining her medical education in the right wing where the infirmary was. Lance listened intently as he remembered the castle only had healing pods, they didn't know any self healing such as stitching or cleaning a wound properly.
"And the rags you used on me? Those weren't in water were they right?" Lance smirked at her.
"No, it was a medicine that would flow through your system to get rid of the infection, usually we'd have to inject it but with your open wounds before it was less painful," nayla explained happily.
"Wow... Thanks for that..." Lance pursed his lips unsure how to feel about it.
Suddenly they felt the ship shaken and nayla fell to the ground but Lance caught her quickly as he watched the lights flicker around them.
"We're under attack," she gasped with wide eyes.
"By who?" Lance saw soldiers rushing down the halls while alarms blared.
"Im unsure but it could be the rebellion, go find Lotor!" Nayla got back to her feet and ran to the right wing without another word.
Lance looked both ways confused. He had no idea where Lotor could even be. So instead he ran to the target room remembering he had weapons there. His stomach flipped in anxiousness, what if it was Voltron... are they here to finally save him?
"A human? Wha-" Lance spun around quickly and shot the unfamiliar voice as soon as he could tell it wasn't galra nor his team. he paused for a moment seeing it was a rebel, he could hear Lotors voice in the background.
"Lance what happened?" Lotor ran in and Lance held up the hand gun quickly but relaxed strangely when he saw Lotor.
"I think it's a rebel, that's not Voltron or Marmora," Lance turned on the second hand blaster as he held them both tightly.
"It is, I saw you, no hesitation," Lotor told him impressed.
"Dude your being attacked! You need to give orders!" Lance cried out waving his arms frantically.
"O-of course, I must go," Lotor turned away and Lance followed close behind.
"Would you like to join me?" He asked as they made their way down the hall, lance gasped fearful as the ship raddled again, Lotor slowed down as lance got closer to him.
"N-no, no I'm good," lance gulped.
"If rebels get into my ship, hold them off as best you can, meet me back at the room after," Lotor ordered Lance motioning down the hall. Lance nodded and followed the princes order.
Lance knew he was screwed for multiple reasons. One, he was going into a battle in only under armor and hand gun. Two, he was fighting for the galra! Taking orders like a good little soldier! Three, he didn't have a fucking shield even!
"I am going to die," Lance looked around the corner and shot two rebels down turning his blaster to only stung. He didn't want to kill them...
He killed that one though... The rebel that surprised him. Oh god. That person was innocent and fighting for their freedom. He can believe he killed them.
Lance grabbed a rebel that was running over and slammed him against the wall harshly.
"You guys need to go, it's not worth it, you will not win," he told him wide eyes.
"Your human," it was a statement.
"Are you a leader of any sort?" Lance asked not letting go.
"I'm a rebel officer,"
"Then get the hell out of here, you will die or worst, go!" Lance shoved him away and the rebel officer grabbed a communication device and lifted down a mask from under his hood and Lance saw a human jaw and lips move as they spoke to the communicator.
"Alright, this was totally useless but thank you in some twisted way," the rebel nodded.
"I said go, before its to late," Lance pointed and he nodded.
Lance turned around and cried out when he was blasted by lightning, he flew across the halls and landed hard as his chest felt most in pain.
"You showed mercy you pathetic fool!" Hagar was in his view.
"It was a warning and the battle has ended now," Lance coughed from the wind being knocked out of him.
"You will not tell the prince a single thing you hear me boy?" Hagar snarled at him grabbing lances hair to make him face her.
"Y-yes," Lance looked into her solid eye with slightly fear.
"You should've died long ago," she threw his head down and stormed away as Lance laid on the ground staring down.
Lance pushed himself up quickly as someone called his name and Lance cussed under his breath when he saw his nose was now bleeding.
"Are you alright?" Lotor asked quickly.
"I'm fine, just got a good punch," Lance smirked wiping his upper lip quickly.
"What happened out there?" Lance changed the subject.
"I'm unsure, they all retreated with barely a fight," Lotor growled.
"We would've easily defeated them," Lotor sighed heavily and looked back at Lance. He remembered how the Paladin was immediately ready for battle. He fought for him today... he never expected lance to follow an order. He didn't know he was gonna give the Paladin an order.
"Sharpshooter, it's a suitable name for you," Lotor smirked. "I know what I saw, like I said there was no hesitation in that shot, a single blast killed him, that is was impresses me, the dedication," Lotor looked at Lance almost proud.
"I don't want to talk about it," Lance walked away.
"I'm sorry,"
Lance looked at him half turned as they stared at each other.
"It's different taking down a ship than killing an individual in front of you," Lotor told him softly. "You never forget it,"
"Have you...?" Lance asked. He nodded.
"I remember his face, it was a prisoner here, in the arena," Lotor inhaled deeply.
"Its sad to say but it gets easier," he told him.
"I don't want to kill," lance said in a stern tone.
"Don't, that is your choice," Lotor shrugged and smiled gently at him.
